  • How to have a user control as a ListBoxItem

    - by Harry
    I want to bind a user control (View) to a ListBoxItem. The ListBox is bound to a collection of ViewModels. I have set the ListBox's ItemTemplate as so: <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <View:ContactView/> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> But all I get are blank ListBoxItems. I can click on them, but nothing is showing visually. My ContactView code is very simply: <Border> <DockPanel> <StackPanel DockPanel.Dock="Right" Orientation="Vertical"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=ContactFirstName, FallbackValue=FirstName}" FontWeight="Bold" Margin="5, 0, 5, 0"></TextBlock> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=ContactLastName, FallbackValue=LastName}" FontWeight="Bold" Margin="5, 0, 5, 0"></TextBlock> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=ContactNumber, FallbackValue=Number}" Margin="5, 0, 5, 0"></TextBlock> </StackPanel> </DockPanel> </Border> What could be wrong with this? Thanks.

  • In Silverlight, what structures, aside of the ListBox, can be used for binding?

    - by Aidenn
I need to simply provide the content of a property to a custom User Control in Silverlight. My control is something like this: <UserControl x:Class="SilverlightApplication.Header" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" mc:Ignorable="d" d:DesignWidth="300" d:DesignHeight="120"> <Grid x:Name="Header_Layout"> <StackPanel x:Name="hiHeaderContent" Width="Auto" Margin="73,8,8,8"> <TextBlock x:Name="User:" Text="{Binding name}" /> </StackPanel> </Grid> I try to use this User Control from another control where I try to pass the parameter "name" to the previous UserControl ("Header"). I don't need to create a "ListBox" as I will only have 1 header, so I try to avoid doing: <ListBox x:Name="HeaderListBox" Grid.Row="0"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <SilverlightApplication:Header/> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> in order to send the "User" account using: HeaderListBox.ItemsSource = name; Is there any other structure I can use instead of the ListBox to pass the parameter just once? It won't be a list, it's just a header... Thank you!

  • Display Consistent Value of an Item using MVVM and WPF

    - by Blake Blackwell
In my list view control (or any other WPF control that will fit the situation), I would like to have one TextBlock that stays consistent for all items while another TextBlock that changes based on the value in the ObservableCollection. Here is how my code is currently laid out: XAML <ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Path=MyItems, Mode=TwoWay}"> <ListView.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock x:Name="StrVal" Text="{Binding StrVal}" /> <TextBlock x:Name="ConstVal" Text="{Binding MyVM.ConstVal}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListView.ItemTemplate> </ListView> Model public class MyItem { public string StrVal { get; set; } } ViewModel public class MyVM { public MyVM() { ObservableCollection<MyItem> myItems = new ObservableCollection<MyItem>(); for (int i = 0 ; i < 10; i++) myItems.Add(new MyItem { StrVal = i.ToString()}); MyItems = myItems; ConstVal = "1"; } public string ConstVal { get; set; } public ObservableCollection<MyItem> MyItems { get; set; } } Code Behind this.DataContext = new MyVM(); The StrVal property repeats correctly in the ListView, but the ConstVal TextBlock does not show the ConstVal that is contained in the VM. I would guess that this is because the ItemsSource of the ListView is MyItems and I can't reference other variables outside of what is contained in the MyItems. My question is: How do I get ConstVal to show the value in the ViewModel for all listviewitems that will be controlled by the Observable Collection of MyItems.

  • WPF binding comboboxes to parent- child model

    - by PaulB
I've got a model with a few tiers in it - something along the lines of ... Company Employees Phone numbers So I've got a ListBox showing all the companys in the model. Each ListBoxItem then contains two comboboxes ... one for employees, one for phone numbers. I can successfully get the employee combo to bind correctly and show the right people, but I'd like the phone combo to show the numbers for the selected employee. I'm just setting the DataContext of the ListBox to the model above and using the following data template for each item <DataTemplate x:Key="CompanyBody"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Label Content="{Binding Path=CompanyName}"></Label> <ComboBox Name="EmployeesCombo" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Company.Employees}"></ComboBox> <!-- What goes here --> <ComboBox DataContext="???" ItemsSource="??" ></ComboBox> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> I've tried (naively) <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Company.Employees.PhoneNumbers}" ></ComboBox> and <ComboBox DataContext="EmployeesCombo.SelectedValue" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=PhoneNumbers}" ></ComboBox> and all other manner of combinations ...

  • Have a clickable button on top of a combobox in WPF

    - by Travyguy9
I can get a button to appear and be clickable in the drop down list of a combo box, but I cannot get the selected combo box item (the drop list is closed) to have the button be clickable. It always skips the button click and just opens the drop down list. I basically want the Button_Click event handler that I setup to be called once it is clicked. Here is my sample combo box that shows the button but is not clickable once it is in the selected item: <ComboBox x:Name="MyCombo" Width="200" Height="30" ItemsSource="{Binding ListCombo}"> <ComboBox.Resources> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:ComboItemClass}"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=SampleText}" Width="120" /> <Button Width="20" Content="..." Click="Button_Click"/> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ComboBox.Resources> </ComboBox>

  • What am I doing wrong with my ItemsControl & databinding?

    - by Joel
I'm reworking my simple hex editor to practice using what I've recently learned about data binding in WPF. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. As I understand it, for each byte in the collection "backend" (inherits from ObservableCollection), my ItemsControl should apply the DataTemplate under resources. This template is just a textbox with a binding to a value converter. So I'm expecting to see a row of textboxes, each containing a string representation of one byte. When I use this XAML, all I get is a single line of uneditable text, which as far as I can tell doesn't use a textbox. What am I doing wrong? I've pasted my XAML in below, with the irrelevant parts (Menu declaration, schema, etc) removed. <Window ...> <Window.Resources> <local:Backend x:Key="backend" /> <local:ByteConverter x:Key="byteConverter" /> <DataTemplate DataType="byte"> <TextBox Text="{Binding Converter={StaticResource byteConverter}}" /> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> <StackPanel> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource backend}}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <WrapPanel /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> </StackPanel> </Window>

  • Pure Server-Side Filtering with RadGridView and WCF RIA Services

Those of you who are familiar with WCF RIA Services know that the DomainDataSource control provides a FilterDescriptors collection that enables you to filter data returned by the query on the server. We have been using this DomainDataSource feature in our RIA Services with DomainDataSource online example for almost an year now. In the example, we are listening for RadGridViews Filtering event in order to intercept any filtering that is performed on the client and translate it to something that the DomainDataSource will understand, in this case a System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor being added or removed from its FilterDescriptors collection. Think of RadGridView.FilterDescriptors as client-side filtering and of DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors as server-side filtering. We no longer need the client-side one. With the introduction of the Custom Filtering Controls feature many new possibilities have opened. With these custom controls we no longer need to do any filtering on the client. I have prepared a very small project that demonstrates how to filter solely on the server by using a custom filtering control. As I have already mentioned filtering on the server is done through the FilterDescriptors collection of the DomainDataSource control. This collection holds instances of type System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor. The FilterDescriptor has three important properties: PropertyPath: Specifies the name of the property that we want to filter on (the left operand). Operator: Specifies the type of comparison to use when filtering. An instance of FilterOperator Enumeration. Value: The value to compare with (the right operand). An instance of the Parameter Class. By adding filters, you can specify that only entities which meet the condition in the filter are loaded from the domain context. In case you are not familiar with these concepts you might find Brad Abrams blog interesting. Now, our requirements are to create some kind of UI that will manipulate the DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors collection. When it comes to collections, my first choice of course would be RadGridView. If you are not familiar with the Custom Filtering Controls concept I would strongly recommend getting acquainted with my step-by-step tutorial Custom Filtering with RadGridView for Silverlight and checking the online example out. I have created a simple custom filtering control that contains a RadGridView and several buttons. This control is aware of the DomainDataSource instance, since it is operating on its FilterDescriptors collection. In fact, the RadGridView that is inside it is bound to this collection. In order to display filters that are relevant for the current column only, I have applied a filter to the grid. This filter is a Telerik.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor and is used to filter the little grid inside the custom control. It should not be confused with the DomainDataSource.FilterDescriptors collection that RadGridView is actually bound to. These are the RIA filters. Additionally, I have added several other features. For example, if you have specified a DataFormatString on your original column, the Value column inside the custom control will pick it up and format the filter values accordingly. Also, I have transferred the data type of the column that you are filtering to the Value column of the custom control. This will help the little RadGridView determine what kind of editor to show up when you begin edit, for example a date picker for DateTime columns. Finally, I have added four buttons two of them can be used to add or remove filters and the other two will communicate the changes you have made to the server. Here is the full source code of the DomainDataSourceFilteringControl. The XAML: <UserControl x:Class="PureServerSideFiltering.DomainDataSourceFilteringControl"    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"     xmlns:telerikGrid="clr-namespace:Telerik.Windows.Controls;assembly=Telerik.Windows.Controls.GridView"     xmlns:telerik="clr-namespace:Telerik.Windows.Controls;assembly=Telerik.Windows.Controls"     Width="300">     <Border x:Name="LayoutRoot"             BorderThickness="1"             BorderBrush="#FF8A929E"             Padding="5"             Background="#FFDFE2E5">           <Grid>             <Grid.RowDefinitions>                 <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/>                 <RowDefinition Height="150"/>                 <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/>             </Grid.RowDefinitions>               <StackPanel Grid.Row="0"                         Margin="2"                         Orientation="Horizontal"                         HorizontalAlignment="Center">                 <telerik:RadButton Name="addFilterButton"                                   Click="OnAddFilterButtonClick"                                   Content="Add Filter"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>                 <telerik:RadButton Name="removeFilterButton"                                   Click="OnRemoveFilterButtonClick"                                   Content="Remove Filter"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>             </StackPanel>               <telerikGrid:RadGridView Name="filtersGrid"                                     Grid.Row="1"                                     Margin="2"                                     ItemsSource="{Binding FilterDescriptors}"                                     AddingNewDataItem="OnFilterGridAddingNewDataItem"                                     ColumnWidth="*"                                     ShowGroupPanel="False"                                     AutoGenerateColumns="False"                                     CanUserResizeColumns="False"                                     CanUserReorderColumns="False"                                     CanUserFreezeColumns="False"                                     RowIndicatorVisibility="Collapsed"                                     IsFilteringAllowed="False"                                     CanUserSortColumns="False">                 <telerikGrid:RadGridView.Columns>                     <telerikGrid:GridViewComboBoxColumn DataMemberBinding="{Binding Operator}"                                                         UniqueName="Operator"/>                     <telerikGrid:GridViewDataColumn Header="Value"                                                     DataMemberBinding="{Binding Value.Value}"                                                     UniqueName="Value"/>                 </telerikGrid:RadGridView.Columns>             </telerikGrid:RadGridView>               <StackPanel Grid.Row="2"                         Margin="2"                         Orientation="Horizontal"                         HorizontalAlignment="Center">                 <telerik:RadButton Name="filterButton"                                   Click="OnApplyFiltersButtonClick"                                   Content="Apply Filters"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>                 <telerik:RadButton Name="clearButton"                                   Click="OnClearFiltersButtonClick"                                   Content="Clear Filters"                                   Margin="2"                                   Width="96"/>             </StackPanel>           </Grid>       </Border> </UserControl>   And the code-behind: using System; Go ahead and try it.             this.employeesDataSource.FilterDescriptors.Add(new System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor("Title", System.Windows.Data.FilterOperator.Contains, "Assistant"));             this.employeesDataSource.FilterDescriptors.Add(new System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor("HireDate", System.Windows.Data.FilterOperator.IsGreaterThan, new DateTime(1998, 12, 31)));             this.employeesDataSource.FilterDescriptors.Add(new System.Windows.Data.FilterDescriptor("HireDate", System.Windows.Data.FilterOperator.IsLessThanOrEqualTo, new DateTime(1999, 12, 31)));               this.employeesDataSource.Load();         }           /// <summary>         /// First of all, we will need to replace the default filtering control         /// of each column with out custom filtering control DomainDataSourceFilteringControl         /// </summary>         private void OnGridAutoGeneratingColumn(object sender, GridViewAutoGeneratingColumnEventArgs e)         {             GridViewBoundColumnBase dataColumn = e.Column as GridViewBoundColumnBase;             if (dataColumn != null)             {                 // We do not like ugly dates.                 if (dataColumn.DataType == typeof(DateTime))                 {                     dataColumn.DataFormatString = "{0:d}"; // Short date pattern.                       // Notice how this format will be later transferred to the Value column                     // of the grid that we have inside the DomainDataSourceFilteringControl.                 }                   // Replace the default filtering control with our.                 dataColumn.FilteringControl = new DomainDataSourceFilteringControl()                 {                     // Let the control know about the DDS, after all it will work directly on it.                     DomainDataSource = this.employeesDataSource                 };                   // Finally, lit-up the filtering funnel through the IsActive dependency property                 // in case there are some filters on the DDS that match our column member.                 string dataMemberName = dataColumn.GetDataMemberName();                 dataColumn.FilteringControl.IsActive =                     this.employeesDataSource.FilterDescriptors                     .Where(fd => fd.PropertyPath == dataMemberName)                     .Count() > 0;             }         }     } } The best part is that we are not only writing filters for the DomainDataSource we can read and load them. If the DomainDataSource has some pre-existing filters (like I have created in the code above), our control will read them and will populate its UI accordingly. Even the filtering funnel will light-up! Remember, the funnel is controlled by the IsActive property of our control. While this is just a basic implementation, the source code is absolutely yours and you can take it from here and extend it to match your specific business requirements. Below the main grid there is another debug grid. With its help you can monitor what filter descriptors are added and removed to the domain data source. Download Source Code. • Alternative Grid Layout for Silverlight suggestion

    - by brainbox
I've proposed a suggestion to create alternative grid layout for Silverlight. Please vote for it if also faced the same problems. As i write before current Silverlight Grid Layout breakes best practices of HTML and Adobe Flex Grid layouts. Current defention based approach have following disadvantages that makes xaml coding very hard: 1. It is very hard to create new row. In that case you should rewriteall Grid.Row and Grid.Columns for all rows inserted below.2. Defenitions are static by their nature and because of it, it isimpossible to use grid for dynamic forms. Currently even in toolkit DataFormMicrosoft is using StackPanel. But StackPanel is not designed for multicolumn layout that have dataform. Here is a sample code of AdobeFlex datagrid, which incorporates bestpractices of HTML. <mx:Grid id="myGrid">        <!-- Define Row 1. -->       <mx:GridRow id="row1">           <!-- Define the first cell of Row 1. -->           <mx:GridItem>               <mx:Button label="Button 1"/>           </mx:GridItem>           <!-- Define the second cell of Row 1. -->           <mx:GridItem>               <mx:Button label="2"/>           </mx:GridItem>           <!-- Define the third cell of Row 1. -->           <mx:GridItem>               <mx:Button label="Button 3"/>           </mx:GridItem>       </mx:GridRow>        <!-- Define Row 2. -->       <mx:GridRow id="row2">           <!-- Define a single cell to span three columns of Row 2. -->           <mx:GridItem colSpan="3" horizontalAlign="center">               <mx:Button label="Long-Named Button 4"/>           </mx:GridItem>       </mx:GridRow>        <!-- Define Row 3. -->       <mx:GridRow id="row3">           <!-- Define an empty first cell of Row 3. -->           <mx:GridItem/>           <!-- Define a cell to span columns 2 and 3 of Row 3. -->           <mx:GridItem colSpan="2" horizontalAlign="center">               <mx:Button label="Button 5"/>           </mx:GridItem>       </mx:GridRow>    </mx:Grid>

  • Composing Silverlight Applications With MEF

    - by PeterTweed
Anyone who has written an application with complexity enough to warrant multiple controls on multiple pages/forms should understand the benefit of composite application development.  That is defining your application architecture that can be separated into separate pieces each with it’s own distinct purpose that can then be “composed” together into the solution. Composition can be useful in any layer of the application, from the presentation layer, the business layer, common services or data access.  Historically people have had different options to achieve composing applications from distinct well known pieces – their own version of dependency injection, containers to aid with composition like Unity, the composite application guidance for WPF and Silverlight and before that the composite application block. Microsoft has been working on another mechanism to aid composition and extension of applications for some time now – the Managed Extensibility Framework or MEF for short.  With Silverlight 4 it is part of the Silverlight environment.  MEF allows a much simplified mechanism for composition and extensibility compared to other mechanisms – which has always been the primary issue for adoption of the earlier mechanisms/frameworks. This post will guide you through the simple use of MEF for the scenario of composition of an application – using exports, imports and composition.  Steps: 1.     Create a new Silverlight 4 application. 2.     Add references to the following assemblies: System.ComponentModel.Composition.dll System.ComponentModel.Composition.Initialization.dll 3.     Add a new user control called LeftControl. 4.     Replace the LayoutRoot Grid with the following xaml:     <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="Beige" Margin="40" >         <Button Content="Left Content" Margin="30"></Button>     </Grid> 5.     Add the following statement to the top of the LeftControl.xaml.cs file using System.ComponentModel.Composition; 6.     Add the following attribute to the LeftControl class     [Export(typeof(LeftControl))]   This attribute tells MEF that the type LeftControl will be exported – i.e. made available for other applications to import and compose into the application. 7.     Add a new user control called RightControl. 8.     Replace the LayoutRoot Grid with the following xaml:     <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="Green" Margin="40"  >         <TextBlock Margin="40" Foreground="White" Text="Right Control" FontSize="16" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center" ></TextBlock>     </Grid> 9.     Add the following statement to the top of the RightControl.xaml.cs file using System.ComponentModel.Composition; 10.   Add the following attribute to the RightControl class     [Export(typeof(RightControl))] 11.   Add the following xaml to the LayoutRoot Grid in MainPage.xaml:         <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalAlignment="Center">             <Border Name="LeftContent" Background="Red" BorderBrush="Gray" CornerRadius="20"></Border>             <Border Name="RightContent" Background="Red" BorderBrush="Gray" CornerRadius="20"></Border>         </StackPanel>   The borders will hold the controls that will be imported and composed via MEF. 12.   Add the following statement to the top of the MainPage.xaml.cs file using System.ComponentModel.Composition; 13.   Add the following properties to the MainPage class:         [Import(typeof(LeftControl))]         public LeftControl LeftUserControl { get; set; }         [Import(typeof(RightControl))]         public RightControl RightUserControl { get; set; }   This defines properties accepting LeftControl and RightControl types.  The attrributes are used to tell MEF the discovered type that should be applied to the property when composition occurs. 14.   Replace the MainPage constructore with the following code:         public MainPage()         {             InitializeComponent();             CompositionInitializer.SatisfyImports(this);             LeftContent.Child = LeftUserControl;             RightContent.Child = RightUserControl;         }   The CompositionInitializer.SatisfyImports(this) function call tells MEF to discover types related to the declared imports for this object (the MainPage object).  At that point, types matching those specified in the import defintions are discovered in the executing assembly location of the application and instantiated and assigned to the matching properties of the current object. 15.   Run the application and you will see the left control and right control types displayed in the MainPage:   Congratulations!  You have used MEF to dynamically compose user controls into a parent control in a composite application model. In the next post we will build on this topic to cover using MEF to compose Silverlight applications dynamically in download on demand scenarios – so .xap packages can be downloaded only when needed, avoiding large initial download for the main application xap. • WPF CommandParameter is NULL first time CanExecute is called

    - by Jonas Follesø
I have run into an issue with WPF and Commands that are bound to a Button inside the DataTemplate of an ItemsControl. The scenario is quite straight forward. The ItemsControl is bound to a list of objects, and I want to be able to remove each object in the list by clicking a Button. The Button executes a Command, and the Command takes care of the deletion. The CommandParameter is bound to the Object I want to delete. That way I know what the user clicked. A user should only be able to delete their "own" objects - so I need to do some checks in the "CanExecute" call of the Command to verify that the user has the right permissions. The problem is that the parameter passed to CanExecute is NULL the first time it's called - so I can't run the logic to enable/disable the command. However, if I make it allways enabled, and then click the button to execute the command, the CommandParameter is passed in correctly. So that means that the binding against the CommandParameter is working. The XAML for the ItemsControl and the DataTemplate looks like this: <ItemsControl x:Name="commentsList" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=SharedDataItemPM.Comments}" Width="Auto" Height="Auto"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Button Content="Delete" FontSize="10" Command="{Binding Path=DataContext.DeleteCommentCommand, ElementName=commentsList}" CommandParameter="{Binding}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> So as you can see I have a list of Comments objects. I want the CommandParameter of the DeleteCommentCommand to be bound to the Command object. So I guess my question is: have anyone experienced this problem before? CanExecute gets called on my Command, but the parameter is always NULL the first time - why is that? Update: I was able to narrow the problem down a little. I added an empty Debug ValueConverter so that I could output a message when the CommandParameter is data bound. Turns out the problem is that the CanExecute method is executed before the CommandParameter is bound to the button. I have tried to set the CommandParameter before the Command (like suggested) - but it still doesn't work. Any tips on how to control it. Update2: Is there any way to detect when the binding is "done", so that I can force re-evaluation of the command? Also - is it a problem that I have multiple Buttons (one for each item in the ItemsControl) that bind to the same instance of a Command-object? Update3: I have uploaded a reproduction of the bug to my SkyDrive: http://cid-1a08c11c407c0d8e.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Code%20samples/CommandParameterBinding.zip

  • Binding WPF DataGrid to DataTable using TemplateColumns

    - by Chris J
I have tried everything and got nowhere so I'm hoping someone can give me the aha moment. I simply cannot get the binding to pull the data in the datagrid successfully. I have a DataTable that contains multiple columns with of MyDataType} public class MyData { string nameData {get;set;} boolean showData {get;set;} } MyDataType has 2 properties (A string, a boolean) I have created a test DataTable DataTable GetDummyData() { DataTable dt = new DataTable("Foo"); dt.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("AnotherColumn", typeof(MyData))); dt.Rows.Add(new MyData("Row1C1", true)); dt.Rows.Add(new MyData("Row2C1", false)); dt.AcceptChanges(); return dt; } I have a WPF DataGrid which I want to show my DataTable. But all I want to do is to change how each cell is rendered to show [TextBlock][Button] per cell with values bound to the MyData object and this is where I'm having a tonne of trouble. My XAML looks like this <Window.Resources><ResourceDictionary><DataTemplate x:Key="MyDataTemplate" DataType="MyData"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" > <Button Background="Green" HorizontalAlignment="Right" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="5,0,0,0" Content="{Binding Path=nameData}"></Button> <TextBlock Background="Green" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="5,0,0,0" Text="{Binding Path=nameData}"></TextBlock> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate></ResourceDictionary></Window.Resources> <Grid> <dg:DataGrid Grid.Row="1" AutoGenerateColumns="True" x:Name="dataGrid1" SelectionMode="Single" CanUserAddRows="False" CanUserSortColumns="true" CanUserDeleteRows="False" AlternatingRowBackground="AliceBlue" AutoGeneratingColumn="dataGrid1_AutoGeneratingColumn" ItemsSource="{Binding}" /> now all I do once loaded is to attempt to bind the DataTable to the WPF DataGrid dt = GetDummyData(); dataGrid1.ItemsSource = dt.DefaultView; The TextBlock and Button show up, but they don't bind, which leaves them blank. Could anyone let me know if they have any idea how to fix this. This should be simple, thats what Microsoft leads us to believe. I have set the Column.CellTemplate during the AutoGenerating event and still get no binding. Please help!!!

  • CheckBox Command Behaviors for Silverlight MVVM Pattern

    - by Blake Blackwell
I am trying to detect when an item is checked, and which item is checked in a ListBox using Silverlight 4 and the Prism framework. I found this example on creating behaviors, and tried to follow it but nothing is happening in the debugger. I have three questions: Why isn't my command executing? How do I determine which item was checked (i.e. pass a command parameter)? How do I debug this? (i.e. where can I put break points to begin stepping into this) Here is my code: View: <ListBox x:Name="MyListBox" ItemsSource="{Binding PanelItems, Mode=TwoWay}"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding Enabled}" my:Checked.Command="{Binding Check}" /> <TextBlock x:Name="DisplayName" Text="{Binding DisplayName}"/> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> ViewModel: public MainPageViewModel() { _panelItems.Add( new PanelItem { Enabled = true, DisplayName = "Test1" } ); Check = new DelegateCommand<object>( itemChecked ); } public void itemChecked( object o ) { //do some stuff } public DelegateCommand<object> Check { get; set; } Behavior Class public class CheckedBehavior : CommandBehaviorBase<CheckBox> { public CheckedBehavior( CheckBox element ) : base( element ) { element.Checked +=new RoutedEventHandler(element_Checked); } void element_Checked( object sender, RoutedEventArgs e ) { base.ExecuteCommand(); } } Command Class public static class Checked { public static ICommand GetCommand( DependencyObject obj ) { return (ICommand) obj.GetValue( CommandProperty ); } public static void SetCommand( DependencyObject obj, ICommand value ) { obj.SetValue( CommandProperty, value ); } public static readonly DependencyProperty CommandProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached( "Command", typeof( CheckBox ), typeof( Checked ), new PropertyMetadata( OnSetCommandCallback ) ); public static readonly DependencyProperty CheckedCommandBehaviorProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached( "CheckedCommandBehavior", typeof( CheckedBehavior ), typeof( Checked ), null ); private static void OnSetCommandCallback( DependencyObject dependencyObject, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e ) { CheckBox element = dependencyObject as CheckBox; if( element != null ) { CheckedBehavior behavior = GetOrCreateBehavior( element ); behavior.Command = e.NewValue as ICommand; } } private static CheckedBehavior GetOrCreateBehavior( CheckBox element ) { CheckedBehavior behavior = element.GetValue( CheckedCommandBehaviorProperty ) as CheckedBehavior; if( behavior == null ) { behavior = new CheckedBehavior( element ); element.SetValue( CheckedCommandBehaviorProperty, behavior ); } return behavior; } public static CheckedBehavior GetCheckCommandBehavior( DependencyObject obj ) { return (CheckedBehavior) obj.GetValue( CheckedCommandBehaviorProperty ); } public static void SetCheckCommandBehavior( DependencyObject obj, CheckedBehavior value ) { obj.SetValue( CheckedCommandBehaviorProperty, value ); } } I used this article to get me started, but I'll readily admit this is over my head.

  • WPF - Only want one expander open at a time in grouped Listbox

    - by Portsmouth
    I have a UserControl with a templated grouped listbox with expanders and only want one expander open at any time. I have browsed through the site but haven't found anything except binding the IsExpanded to IsSelected which isn't quite what I want. I am trying to put some code in the Expanded event that would loop through Expanders and close all the ones that aren't the expander passed in the Expanded event. I can't seem to figure out how to get at them. I've tried ListBox.Items.Groups but didn't see how to get at them and tried ListBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem (or Index) but nothing came back. Thanks <ListBox Name="ListBox"> <ListBox.GroupStyle> <GroupStyle> <GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type GroupItem}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type GroupItem}"> <Border BorderBrush="CadetBlue" BorderThickness="1"> <Expander BorderThickness="0,0,0,1" Expanded="Expander_Expanded" Focusable="False" IsExpanded="{Binding IsSelected, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType= {x:Type ListBoxItem}}}" > <Expander.Header> <Grid> <StackPanel Height="30" Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Foreground="Navy" FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding Path=Name}" Margin="5,0,0,0" MinWidth="200" Padding="3" VerticalAlignment="Center" /> <TextBlock Foreground="Navy" FontWeight="Bold" Text=" Setups: " VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Right"/> <TextBlock Foreground="Navy" FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding Path=ItemCount}" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Right" /> </StackPanel> </Grid> </Expander.Header> <Expander.Content> <Grid Background="white" > <ItemsPresenter /> </Grid> </Expander.Content> <Expander.Style > <Style TargetType="{x:Type Expander}"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="true"> <Setter Property="Background"> <Setter.Value> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0,0" EndPoint="0,1"> <GradientStop Color="WhiteSmoke" Offset="0.0" /> <GradientStop Color="Orange" Offset="1.0" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="false" <Setter Property="Background"> <Setter.Value>

  • Wrap or adorn wpf listview datatemplate

    - by Chris Cap
I'm attempting to essentially wrap the contents of a DateTemplate in a listview gridview column with a border. What I want to know is if it's possible to supply an adorner that will surround that template so that I don't have to specify the border in every single datatemplate on every column (which is what I'm doing now). I've got something like this, but I know it's not right <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Setter Property="TemplateContent"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <StackPanel> <Border BorderBrush="Green" BorderThickness="1"> <AdornedElementPlaceholder /> </Border> </StackPanel> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> This complains that Templatecontent is not a valid type. I've also tried with DataTemplate and that doesn't work either (understandably so). I know I could just create a DataTemplate, however the content for each column is different. At the very least, it binds to different fields. I'm wondering if there's a solution using a dynamic resource, but I don't know much about it. Thanks for your help EDIT: here's a sample of my listview <ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Path=OrderLines}" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ResourceKey=ListViewItemContainerStyle}"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBox MaxWidth="30" Width="30" MaxLength="2" Text="{Binding Path=Quantity,ValidatesOnDataErrors=True}" /> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> <GridView> <ListView.View> </ListView> Essentially I want to wrap that text box in the data template and any other items in additional columns.

  • WPF DataGrid and Avalon TimePicker binding problem

    - by Jorge Vargas
    I'm using a the WPF DataGrid from the wpf toolkit and a TimePicker from AvalonControlsLibrary to insert a collection of TimeSpans. My problem is that bindings are not working inside the DataGrid, and I have no clue of why this isn't working. After looking around a bit I have found that I have to implement the IEditableObject in order to cancel an edit. Great I did that (and it all works), but now the commit button (Save) is grayed out, lol. Anyone have any idea's why the commit button will not activate any more? Xaml <df:DataForm x:Name="_dataForm" AutoEdit="False" AutoCommit="False" CommandButtonsVisibility="All"> <df:DataForm.EditTemplate > <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Name="rootPanel" Orientation="Vertical" df:DataField.IsFieldGroup="True"> <!-- No fields here. They will be added at run-time. --> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </df:DataForm.EditTemplate> </df:DataForm> binding DataContext = this; _dataForm.ItemsSource = _rows; ... TextBox textBox = new TextBox(); Binding binding = new Binding(); binding.Path = new PropertyPath("Data"); binding.Mode = BindingMode.TwoWay; binding.Converter = new RowIndexConverter(); binding.ConverterParameter = col.Value.Label; textBox.SetBinding(TextBox.TextProperty, binding); dataField.Content = textBox; // add DataField to layout container rootPanel.Children.Add(dataField); Data Class definition public class Row : INotifyPropertyChanged , IEditableObject { public void BeginEdit() { foreach (var item in _data) { _cache.Add(item.Key, item.Value); } } public void CancelEdit() { _data.Clear(); foreach (var item in _cache) { _data.Add(item.Key, item.Value); } _cache.Clear(); } public void EndEdit() { _cache.Clear(); } private Dictionary<string, object> _cache = new Dictionary<string, object>(); private Dictionary<string, object> _data = new Dictionary<string, object>(); public object this[string index] { get { return _data[index]; } set { _data[index] = value; OnPropertyChanged("Data"); } } public object Data { get { return this; } set { PropertyValueChange setter = value as PropertyValueChange; _data[setter.PropertyName] = setter.Value; } } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; protected void OnPropertyChanged(string property) { if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(property)); } } }

  • How can I use a custom TabItem control when databinding a TabControl in WPF?

    - by Russ
    I have a custom control that is derived from TabItem, and I want to databind that custom TabItem to a stock TabControl. I would rather avoid creating a new TabControl just for this rare case. This is what I have and I'm not having any luck getting the correct control to be loaded. In this case I want to use my ClosableTabItem control instead of the stock TabItem control. <TabControl x:Name="tabCases" IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True" Controls:ClosableTabItem.TabClose="TabClosed" > <TabControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type Controls:ClosableTabItem}" > <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Id}" /> </DataTemplate> </TabControl.ItemTemplate> <TabControl.ContentTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type Entities:Case}"> <CallLog:CaseReadOnlyDisplay DataContext="{Binding}" /> </DataTemplate> </TabControl.ContentTemplate> </TabControl> EDIT: This is what I ended up with, rather than trying to bind a custom control. The "CloseCommand" im getting from a previous question. <Style TargetType="{x:Type TabItem}" BasedOn="{StaticResource {x:Type TabItem}}" > <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type TabItem}"> <Border Name="Border" Background="LightGray" BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="1" CornerRadius="25,0,0,0" SnapsToDevicePixels="True"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <ContentPresenter x:Name="ContentSite" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center" ContentSource="Header" Margin="20,1,5,1"/> <Button Command="{Binding Path=CloseCommand}" Cursor="Hand" DockPanel.Dock="Right" Focusable="False" Margin="1,1,5,1" Background="Transparent" BorderThickness="0"> <Image Source="/Russound.Windows;component/Resources/Delete.png" Height="10" /> </Button> </StackPanel> </Border> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold" /> <Setter TargetName="Border" Property="Background" Value="LightBlue" /> <Setter TargetName="Border" Property="BorderThickness" Value="1,1,1,0" /> <Setter TargetName="Border" Property="BorderBrush" Value="DarkBlue" /> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style>

  • [WPF] ComboBox Style problems with DisplayMemberPath

    - by kornelijepetak
I have a ComboBox and I have set the combo.ItemsSource property to a List object. The Book class contains two properties: "Abbreviation" and "Name". I have set the ComboBox's DisplayMemberPath to "Abbreviation" but the following style that is set on the ComboBox does not display the Abbreviation property, but instead shows "Words.Book" which is the name of the class. The ComboBox drop-down displays a list correctly (Using the specified Abbreviation property). The problem is in the selected ComboBox item, the one displayed when the ComboBox' drop-down is closed. I guess the problem is in ContentPresenter in DataTemplate but I was unable to find a successful solution. Currently the ContentPresenter's Content property is set to Content="{TemplateBinding Content} but I don't know if that's how it should be. Any ideas how to show the property specified in DisplayMemberPath on the selected item? Thank you the code: <ControlTemplate x:Key="ComboBoxToggleButton" TargetType="ToggleButton"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition /> <ColumnDefinition Width="20" /> • Create a grid in WPF as Template programmatically

    - by wickie79
    I want to create a basic user control with a style programmatically. In this style i want to add a Grid (no problem), but i dont can add column definitions to this grid. My example code is ControlTemplate templ = new ControlTemplate(); FrameworkElementFactory mainPanel = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(DockPanel)); mainPanel.SetValue(DockPanel.LastChildFillProperty, true); FrameworkElementFactory headerPanel = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(StackPanel)); headerPanel.SetValue(StackPanel.OrientationProperty, Orientation.Horizontal); headerPanel.SetValue(DockPanel.DockProperty, Dock.Top); mainPanel.AppendChild(headerPanel); FrameworkElementFactory headerImg = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(Image)); headerImg.SetValue(Image.MarginProperty, new Thickness(5)); headerImg.SetValue(Image.HeightProperty, 32d); headerImg.SetBinding(Image.SourceProperty, new Binding("ElementImage") { RelativeSource = new RelativeSource(RelativeSourceMode.TemplatedParent) }); headerPanel.AppendChild(headerImg); FrameworkElementFactory headerTitle = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(TextBlock)); headerTitle.SetValue(TextBlock.FontSizeProperty, 16d); headerTitle.SetValue(TextBlock.VerticalAlignmentProperty, VerticalAlignment.Center); headerTitle.SetBinding(TextBlock.TextProperty, new Binding("Title") { RelativeSource = new RelativeSource(RelativeSourceMode.TemplatedParent) }); headerPanel.AppendChild(headerTitle); FrameworkElementFactory mainGrid = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(Grid)); FrameworkElementFactory c1 = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ColumnDefinition)); c1.SetValue(ColumnDefinition.WidthProperty, new GridLength(1, GridUnitType.Star)); FrameworkElementFactory c2 = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ColumnDefinition)); c2.SetValue(ColumnDefinition.WidthProperty, new GridLength(1, GridUnitType.Auto)); FrameworkElementFactory c3 = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ColumnDefinition)); c3.SetValue(ColumnDefinition.WidthProperty, new GridLength(3, GridUnitType.Star)); FrameworkElementFactory colDefinitions = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ColumnDefinitionCollection)); colDefinitions.AppendChild(c1); colDefinitions.AppendChild(c2); colDefinitions.AppendChild(c3); mainGrid.AppendChild(colDefinitions); mainPanel.AppendChild(mainGrid); FrameworkElementFactory content = new FrameworkElementFactory(typeof(ContentPresenter)); content.SetBinding(ContentPresenter.ContentProperty, new Binding() { RelativeSource = new RelativeSource(RelativeSourceMode.TemplatedParent), Path = new PropertyPath("Content") }); mainGrid.AppendChild(content); templ.VisualTree = mainPanel; Style mainStyle = new Style(); mainStyle.Setters.Add(new Setter(UserControl.TemplateProperty, templ)); this.Style = mainStyle; But the creation of FrameworkElementFactory with type ColumnDefinitionCollection will throw an exception "'ColumnDefinitionCollection' type must derive from FrameworkElement, FrameworkContentElement, or Visual3D." Who can help me?

  • Window out of the screen when maximized using WPF shell integration library

    - by Eduardo Molteni
    I'm using the WPF Shell Integration Library to create a custom chrome of my wpf app. All is good, but when maximizing the app, 6 or 7 pixels are out of the screen. This is the code I'm using: <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:MainWindow}"> <Setter Property="shell:WindowChrome.WindowChrome"> <Setter.Value> <shell:WindowChrome ResizeBorderThickness="6" CaptionHeight="10" CornerRadius="0" GlassFrameThickness="1"/> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type local:MainWindow}"> <Grid> <Border BorderThickness="1" BorderBrush="#389FD1" Background="#389FD1"> <ContentPresenter Margin="0,22,0,0" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}"/> </Border> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalAlignment="Right" VerticalAlignment="Top" > <TextBlock Text="{Binding NombreUsuario}" Foreground="White" Margin="5,5,20,5" Opacity=".8" /> <Button Style="{StaticResource ImageButton}" Height="20" Width="20" Margin="0" Click="WindowMinimize" shell:WindowChrome.IsHitTestVisibleInChrome="True"> <Image Height="10" Width="10" Source="/Resources/Images/minimize.png" /> </Button> <Button Style="{StaticResource ImageButton}" Height="20" Width="20" Margin="0" Click="WindowMaximizeRestore" shell:WindowChrome.IsHitTestVisibleInChrome="True" > <Image Height="10" Width="10" Source="/Resources/Images/maximize.png" /> </Button> <Button Style="{StaticResource ImageButton}" Height="20" Width="20" Margin="0" Click="WindowClose" shell:WindowChrome.IsHitTestVisibleInChrome="True"> <Image Height="10" Width="10" Source="/Resources/Images/close.png" /> </Button> </StackPanel> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style>

  • When will the ValueConverter's Convert method be called in wpf

    - by sudarsanyes
I have an ObservableCollection bound to a list box and a boolean property bound to a button. I then defined two converters, one that operates on the collection and the other operates on the boolean property. Whenever I modify the boolean property, the converter's Convert method is called, where as the same is not called if I modify the observable collection. What am I missing??
