• QuickTime Player sounds much better than iTunes

  I am playing a 320 kpbs encoded music MP3 in iTunes and the sound is substantially worse than the exact same file played back in QuickTime Player (Max OS X 10.8.5). I have maxed out system volume and iTunes playback volume. I have disabled all the audio processing features in iTunes (equalization, sound enhancer, etc.) The audio coming from iTunes still sounds resampled and/or processed, whereas QuickTime Player appears to be playing it "as is". Even when I Get Info on the MP3 file in Finder and play it back directly from the Get Info window it sounds good. It's just iTunes that seems to be mangling the song. I can notice a difference on virtually all my music, so it's not just one particular MP3. I suspect the issue is that iTunes is doing some kind of audio processing but I can't find a way to turn it off. This is the newest iTunes (11.1), but the problem has probably been going on for a while... I just switched to decent earbuds and started noticing the difference. What's the best way to force iTunes to play back the file as-is, or as close as possible to how QuickTime Player/Finder would play it?

  I use WINDOWS 7 (x64) (Russian) I want to stream life audio from my default audio capture device (microphone) When I set up VLM settings using visual enviroment instruments - VLM settings it all works fine. But when I export created settings/configuration *.vlm file and try to inport it into VLM it gives me nothing I opened that .vlm there is some text... so now I try to run VLC with default settings like this: vlc -i dshow:// --dshow-adev= :sout=#transcode{acodec=mp3,ab=128,channels=2,samplerate=44100}:std{access=http,mux=raw,dst=127.0.0.1:8084} but it dies giving me errors...=( So what shall I do to do live MP3 streaming from my default audio input device using VLC in non UI mode?

• How to play 24 fps video smoothly on a 60Hz display?

  I use mpc-hc to play videos on Win7 x64. With the default settings (#1), video playback is great most of the time. But for panning shots, playback is not smooth. I stepped through the video frame by frame and found that the panning movement is smooth (e.g. each frame shifts horizontally by 10 pixels), so the problem is how the 23.976 fps video is interpolated to 60Hz. The judder looks like what would be caused by a "2:3 pulldown", where the frames are played unevenly like: frame 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, etc (#2) Using "optimal renderer settings" (#3) instead of the default disables the Aero theme and causes tearing. Setting my LCD display to 50Hz may have improved the judder slightly (but I can't really tell). My display does not support 24Hz or 48Hz, and forcing them in the Nvidia control panel gives blurry screen. I've tried other video players (VLC and KMPlayer), the ReClock Directshow Filter, video files from different sources (#4), turning on/off DXVA, and a computer with a different GPU, but the judder in the playback is similar. None of them solved the problem. So, how can I play 23.976 or 24 fps video smoothly on a 60Hz display? I think a video player could make the video smoother by doing linear interpolation, such as: 1. 100% frame 1 2. 60% frame 1 + 40% frame 2 3. 20% frame 1 + 80% frame 2 4. 80% frame 2 + 20% frame 3 5. 40% frame 2 + 60% frame 3 6. 100% frame 3 7. 60% frame 3 + 40% frame 4 .. etc Can any existing video player do this? UPDATE: Posted a bounty on the question since the current answer is really not about agile approaches to social media campaign planning and implementation. UPDATE 2: The question is asking for an agile social media approach, or a social media platform that has agile social media approach baked-in. If the question was about an agile approach to software development, SCRUM would be the most likely answer (70% percent of agile software developers say they practice some from of SCRUM), and Pivotal Tracker might be one of many agile platforms suggested; as a generalization Pivotal Tracker might be called a project management platform. On the flip-side, suggesting just a social media platform might be the equivalent of suggesting a project management platform, and suggesting I see if SCRUM works on it. Problem is that if you haven't suggested an agile social media approach to try on this social media platform, then you haven't provided an answer to the question.

  I'm pondering setting up a virtual machine to generate app-v (since i got mdop from school) or thinapp application virtualisation packages. Ideally with either of these, i should work off a fresh system do the install, then copy out the packages produced. I'd like to not have to reinstall windows per package to get a fresh, unmodified stock copy of windows. I'm aware that its possible to make a hard disk image persistant in vmware player (one of my lecturers did it, but he's in another country). I'm wondering how would i convert a persistant image to a non persistant one? I'm currently running vmware player 4, with windows 7 guest and host.

• How do I get media players to play ripped dvd files using Handbrake?

  I want to rip my dvd collection to put on a server for my tv. I started this with trying 4 dvds using Handbrake. The first 3 ripped perfectly fine according to the directions I used from LifeHacker (http://lifehacker.com/5773000/how-to-rip-dvds-with-handbrake). The 4th dvd took about 2 secs to rip and then stopped saying it was complete. It was not. Now with the 3 files I have I tried to open and play with VLC and Miro. Neither one would play the file. It says its open but there is no sound or video and it doesn't actually show the movie playing in the progress bar. I ran it from the terminal and this is the error message I get. • Flash player, HD videos and games are choppy

  I have a problem with flash player. HD videos from Youtube or Vimeo and flash games do not play smoothly. I'm using Flash player 11, Windows 7 Sp1, and my graphic card is Intel GMA 4500. Device Manager shows me that all drivers are installed on my computer, so i don't have any problems with drivers. When I run Google chrome, Resource Monitor shows me 15% ~ 40 % of CPU Usage and 40% used Physical Memory, but when I watch a video on Youtube or play a Flash game, the Resource Monitor shows 70% - 90% CPU Usage. Also, when I run some HD Video (Frame width : 1920, Frame height : 1080) on my computer, Device Manager shows me 80% ~ 100% of CPU Usage. before I Reinstall Windows 7, HD Videos and flash games were play smoothly I hadn't any problem with them !! I hope all these informations are enough to answer my question.

  I'd like to take a windows media video stream and convert it to mp3 audio. Using mencoder I can convert from windows media video to avi but not directly from windows media to mp3. The following is the command I use to convert to avi, but I'd like to avoid having to do two conversions and converting the avi file to mp3. mencoder mms://wmslive.media.hinet.net/Weblive_Bloomberg_600 -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame -o output.avi Note if there are tools that can do this I will use them, I have access to both Linux and Windows.

• Empty track in Windows Media Player 12 that can't be deleted

  Right after I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7, I synced with my DropBox account that contains all of my music and added the directory to Windows Media Player 12. I now have a strange track that really isn't a track at all. It's grouped under "Unknown Artist" and has absolutely no text. The only reason I know it's there is because it highlights on mouse-over. Double-clicking on it does nothing. When the song before it ends, Windows Media Player stops playing altogether until I choose a different song (it should continue to play the next song on its own). When I try to delete this mysterious track, nothing happens. I've cleared my library and re-imported everything, but this empty track keeps appearing. I have also checked my Music directory and there is no empty MP3. What is going on here?

• Media center consumes all available memory when attempting to play music off of a server

  I have Windows 7 Ultimate, and recently, when i try to play a song off of my Twonky Media Server/Windows Media Connect (based on an HP WHS with an Atom), it plays choppily. When i open Resource Monitor, it shows that after ordering the music to play, memory usage rapidly spikes to consume most, if not all, of the available memory on my system (excluding a couple hundred megabytes in standby). Why does it do this and is there anything i can do to stop it? Edit: it happens when I attempt to browse the server's music, not just when i play music. Edit 2: the "ehshell" process is what consumes the memory, appears to me something specific to media center. Moreover, the ehshell process doesn't die in this case. Edit 3: It only happens when browsing my Twonky library, and not my Windows Media Connect.

  I have a VMWare Player running a VM at all times. However I want the server to run that Virtual Machine on boot (without logging in). This will allow me basically to restart the Server and when it loads to the login screen it's already running VMWare. Any ideas? I have tried reading up on it however websites suggest VMWare Server. This is no longer backed by VMWare anymore. So I am looking to either make VMWare Player a service or if anyone else has any other ideas? Running Win 7 on my server btw Thanks for looking.

• Accessing VMware Player across the network

  My network: 192.168.2.2 (computer) 255.255.255.0 (mask) 192.168.2.254 (gateway) The VMplayer is: 192.168.233.129 (ip) 255.255.255.0 (mask) 192.168.233.255(bcast) It's obvious the player can't be access from other systems because of the wrong network settings. However, I am not sure as to how to change that. Obviously I have to edit the ifcg-eth0 but I know I also need to edit it on the host system to make it accessably. Is this done from inside VMware Player? Or do I need to edit the network devices? The host box is Windows. Inside VMware is Linux.

• VMWare Player 5.0 Upgrade - Bridged Networking No Longer Works

  I've been using VMWare Player 4 on my Windows 7 PC, running my VMs under a bridged networking configuration without any problem. I settled on bridged networking two reasons... I often use VMs to host web applications for test purposes. I never could get NAT to work for me anyway, but no love lost, considering reason #1. Now that I've upgraded to VMWare Player 5, the situation has completely reversed. In other words, bridged networking no longer works at all, and NAT does. Has anyone else come across this? Any ideas on getting bridged networking to work again? This happens with both Windows and Linux guest OSes. VMWare Tools has been fully updated. I've tried the usual vmnetcfg.exe utility fix, to no avail.

  Hello, all. I am messing around with the WMPLib component provided by Windows Media Player 12 (wmp.dll) in VB.NET with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. I am trying to retrieve a media item from my media library based on its name (assuming there are no duplicate names). At the moment, I'm grabbing the entire media library, and looping through every media item, and quitting the loop when I've found the correct media item. This works well (except for when a media item with that name cannot be found), but I was hoping there was a more efficient way of doing this.   New guy here. I asked a while back about a sprite recolouring program that I was having difficulty with and got some great responses. Basically, I tried to write a program that would recolour pixels of all the pictures in a given folder from one given colour to another. I believe I have it down, but, now the program is telling me that I have an invalid value specified for the red component of my colour. (ValueError: Invalid red value specified.), even though it's only being changed from 64 to 56. Any help on the matter would be appreciated! • In search of a good audio player for Ubuntu 9.10

  If this should be marked Community Wiki, please let me know. I'm switching from XP to Ubuntu, and I have been very disappointed with the selection of media players available. I'm primarily interested in an audio player, but integrated video and library management is OK, too. My criteria: Must be able to play audio CDs (I'm shocked how many apps this does away with, right away) Must be able to play MP3 & WAV; OGG, SHN, FLAC are all bonuses Repeat and Shuffle modes are a must FreeDB / GraceNote through a proxy is a must (if it can read a PAC file, that would be awesome) It needs to be really small, e.g. skinnable or an applet Ability to execute a playlist is a plus Gapless MP3 playback a plus I'm running Gnome, but I'm not totally adverse to a KDE app. Command-line only is also a viable option. Some that I've tried: RhythmBox - probably the best of the lot that I've tried; I don't like its mini mode (doesn't show the song being played) and I can't figure out how to get it to hit FreeDB/GraceNote through a proxy Songbird - can't play CDs, playlist management is atrocious Banshee Jajuk Maybe a couple of more. Thanks! UPDATE I tried out VLC, Amarok and Songbord (again). VLC I eventually got to work (I had some kind of bad configuration). It seemed way more involved than I was looking for out of a music player, and in general more geared to video than audio. I couldn't fathom its library management, which I think it has; maybe it doesn't, and that's why I couldn't figure it out. Amaork looked very promising but the library management was not to my liking, and the way it handled a playlist with both MP3 and WAV is inexplicable at best. I did like some aspects of the UI, but not enough to keep it. Songbird is very finicky, but I like the library management. Sort of. It kept telling me my Watch folder was invalid, even thought it clearly was accessible. Playlist management is bizarre, and the message that it was deleting source files whenever I deleted a playlist had me too worried to keep using it. Had it been able to play CDs, maybe I would have persevered. Audacious, while a bit odd at times, does seem to do what I want. If it had a library manager, I wouldn't have bothered trying any of the others. Thanks for the help, everyone!

• Refreshing Windows Media library by command line

  Many file download managers allow you to run a command after your download finishes. Is there a command line to run a Windows Media Player 12 library refresh? Videos don't show up in the available list on my PS3 until the library is refreshed. Right now, I manually open Windows Media Player after the downloads finish, watch the bottom-right corner for the refresh to complete (ie. Update Complete), then close the player. This works, but there has to be a better way. Yes, I know PS3 Media Server would do the trick, and I do use it when I need to transcode something, but WMP is running all the time, so I'd like to take advantage of it.

  I have Windows Professional x64 with two sound cards. for many months these cards (and the all sound system) was working fine. Suddenly my System (my PC) stops having sound. from WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYERS and for any other media players The default sounds from windows are working fine but I don't have sounds from media players. Also I open the "Sounds And Audio Device Properties" and in "Volume"Tab I press "Advance". There I receive an error "DirectSoundSetting not available". I have already Uninstall and re install my sound cards... But Nothing. Did anyone knows where the problem is?
