• Obtain the pathName dinamically for ASP.NET MVC

  Hello, I'm looking for a solution that allows me to get the parent page pathname from a partialView invoked. For example I have an Action baa and a controller boo so the javascript to obtain this will be window.location.pathname, and it returns /boo/baa. The thing is that I use a partial view, so when I try to retrieve the pathname via the URL helper, what I obtain is the PartialView one, and what I need is the pathname for the action that invokes it. I want to do this because I want to show certain things of the partial view depending on the pathname of the parent view that invokes it. Is there a way to do this with ASP.NET MVC? • No route matches error with application_controller spec

  I have an application_controller spec that is failing since I removed the controller/action route from routes.rb. I get the following error: No route matches {:controller=>"application", :action=>"index"} I had many tests fail in the same way, but was able to fix them by including the correct parameters in the get call. So for instance, if I wanted to get the standard show route for posts in my spec, I had to change get :show to get :show, :id => '1' Unfortunately, I'm not sure now what to pass along for the application controller specs.   Is there a multipart POST library out there that achieve the same effect of doing a POST from a html form? for example - upload a file programmingly in Java versus upload the file using a html form. And on the server side, it just blindly expect the request from client side to be a multipart POST request and parse out the data as appropriate. Has anyone tried this? specifically, I am trying to see if I can simulate the following with Java The user creates a blob by submitting an HTML form that includes one or more file input fields. Your app sets blobstoreService.createUploadUrl() as the destination (action) of this form, passing the function a URL path of a handler in your app. When the user submits the form, the user's browser uploads the specified files directly to the Blobstore. The Blobstore rewrites the user's request and stores the uploaded file data, replacing the uploaded file data with one or more corresponding blob keys, then passes the rewritten request to the handler at the URL path you provided to blobstoreService.createUploadUrl(). This handler can do additional processing based on the blob key. Finally, the handler must return a headers-only, redirect response (301, 302, or 303), typically a browser redirect to another page indicating the status of the blob upload. Set blobstoreService.createUploadUrl as the form action, passing the application path to load when the POST of the form is completed. <body> <form action="<%= blobstoreService.createUploadUrl("/upload") %>" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="myFile"> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> </form> </body> Note that this is how the upload form would look if it were created as a JSP.   has the HTML version changed lately (like from ie7 to IE8?) I notice the following change that cause me some troulbe - I am having a code that is similar to this: <form method="POST" action="/admin/modify"> <input type="text"/> <button onclick="dosomething()">Press</button> </form> <script type="text/javascript"> function doSomething(){ // doesn't matter what actually } </script> What is weired to me in this code is that by pressing the button inside the form, all I want is to perform some javascript action but eventaully it causes the form to be submitted too, even when I am not willing to do it. So - is it true? and if so how can I perform some java script actoin inside a from but prevent the form from being submitted automatically?

  My android application get restarted when I take the application from home screen, but this not a consistent. Some time it works perfectly (resume with the last visited activity). My application contains a splash screen activity and 5 activities in tab layout. I am working on actual device. • Actionbar scherlock is not refreshed when the orientation is changed

  I use Sherlock action bar in my application. I used "ifRoom|withText" feature in my menu. If I test my code in portrait mode, I can see only icon and if I rotate orientation to landscape, still I see only icon. On the other hand, if I run with landscape, I can see text and icon on portrait and landscape. This means that When the screen is rotated, action bar is not refreshed. How can I fix? In menu, I have android:showAsAction="ifRoom|withText" Also I used this line in my manifest file to fixed android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation|screenSize" but it didn't work. • In XAML is there way to bind key press and key release to specific commands?

  In my application I have keys that bound to commands using the KeyBinding class. The command is executed when the key is pressed and released. I have a special case where I want to bind separate commands to the pressed action and to the released action. For example when the space key is pressed I want my app to run a command to enter a special mode. Then when the space key is released I want to run another command to exit that special mode. Currently I do this by manually handling the KeyUp and KeyDown events. Is there anyway to execute commands for pressed and released purely in XAML?

• Cannot resolve view when view is in subdirectory

  We have a MVC 2.0 / c# 4.0 application that we develop visual studio. We have a part of the site (admin) that we have put in it's own sub directory and with its own routing rules: routes.Add("DomainRoute", new DomainRoute( ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["adminDomain"], // Domain with parameters "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "AdminPage", action = "Admin", id = "", isAdmin = true } We have all the views for the admin site inside an admin sub folder so that you get paths like: \views\admin\auth\login.aspx In the \controllers\admin\authController.aspx file I have a function called login: public ActionResult Login() { return View(); } This works just as it should, ie if i go admin.localhost\auth\login I go to the login page. But if I do a right click in visual studio and "go to view" i get an error "unable to go to matching view". Is there anyway to solve this?

  I'm trying to create a foreign key on a table in MySQL and I'm getting a strange error that there seems to be little info about in any of my searches. I'm creating the key with this (emitted from mysql workbench 5.2): ALTER TABLE `db`.`appointment` ADD CONSTRAINT `FK_appointment_CancellationID` FOREIGN KEY (`CancellationID` ) REFERENCES `db`.`appointment_cancellation` (`ID` ) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION , ADD INDEX `FK_appointment_CancellationID` (`CancellationID` ASC) ; at which point I get the error: ERROR 1452: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (alarmtekcore., CONSTRAINT FK_lead_appointment_CancellationID FOREIGN KEY (CancellationID) REFERENCES lead_appointment_cancellation (`) I've checked here but there's no data in the table.

  Hi All, I'm having trouble with paths in a ASP.NET MVC application that's running behind a proxy. Our IIS Application root path is for example http://server/MyApp/ meaning that all urls using the application root ("~/",Url.Action("MyAction","MyController")) are resolved to "/MyApp" Now we're running behind a proxy server that forwards all requests, but changes the application root to something like this: "/Secury/Proxy/RubbishUrl/MyApp" Because the original url is only available on the client, I thought of creating a cookie with the path prefix, and insert this before each generated URL on the server. Now the question is, what's the best location in code to modify each URL that's resolved/sent to the client (to resources, controller actions, images etc)? Every path in the application is resolved with the MVC methods (Url.Content, Url.Action etc).

  Hello, I have a process within my MVC 2 application that takes a large amount of time and alters many rows in the database in the process. There is a chance that two or more users could attempt to perform this action at the same time, which would lead to undesirable effects. Is there a way to set a global flag somewhere within asp.net that I can check against all requests to see if the action in question is currently being executed? (a bit that I flip prior to running query, and then then flip back on completition) Or is there a better way of handling this situation? Thanks

• How can I request local pages in the background of an ASP.NET MVC app?

  My ASP.NET MVC app needs to run a set of tasks at startup and in the background at a regular interval. I have implemented each task as a controller action and listed the app-relative path to the action in the database. I implemented a TaskRunner process that gets the urls from the database and requests each one at a regular interval using WebRequest.Create, but this throws a UriFormatException. I cannot use this answer or any code that plucks values from HttpContext.Current.Request without getting an HttpException with the message "Request is not available in this context". The Request object is not available because my code uses System.Threading.Timer to do background processing, as recommended here. Here are my questions: Is there really no way to make local web requests within an ASP.NET web app? Is there really no way to dynamically ascertain the root path to the web app even using static dependencies in ASP.NET? I was trying to avoid storing the app's root path in the database (as FogBugz does with its "Maintenance Path"), but is this best option?
