    I'm trying to create a WPF window that will encompass the entire Desktop working area. In WinForms I'd do this by getting the Union of all the bounds in System.Windows.Forms.Screen.AllScreens. Is there an equivalent type or other mechanism to get the bounds of the entire desktop in WPF or do I need to use the WinForms type?

  • Difference between internet and Desktop jave EE app server

    Hello. I need some clarification. I know that in order to run a java EE project, one needs a java EE compliant application server, such as tomcat, jboss, glashfish, etc. But, i download these to my desktop, but how about when i run it online? Are Jboss, tomcat, glashfish, etc. application servers just for your desktop, or are these the app server internet service providers have as well. I am trying to use godaddy as my internet service provider; i called them, but the customer service guy didnt know what application server they had, or did i ask the wrong question? Or how can i know waht application server they have? Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated.

    I've been writing an endpoint that sends events to a KRL ruleset via HTTP GET (based on the documentation here), in this format: http://cs.kobj.net/blue/event/{domain}/{eventname}/{appid} That works great when the version of the app I want to test is the same one that's deployed. I don't always want to deploy before testing it, though. Using the stated format for calling the dev version doesn't work. It still calls the deployed version of my ruleset: http://cs.kobj.net/blue/event/{domain}/{eventname}/{appid}:kynetx_app_version=dev What am I doing wrong?

  • Alternative Windows Offline Files + Windows Backup + Previous Version Setup

    Currently our documents are all hosted in a Windows 7 box. Users can access the files using Windows share and the documents are available offline (windows 7 feature). The documents are being backed up daily by Windows 7 backup and restore utility. Users can access previous versions of the file (from the backups) using Windows Explorer "previous versions" feature. This setup is currently working well, except for the following: We would prefer to have access to hourly versions of the file, not daily. The previous version mechanism is tied up to the backup mechanism. Windows 7 performs a full backup every week and incremental backup everyday. The previous versions of a file is actually what are the available in the backups. If you 20GB documents and want to maintain at least three(3) year history, you will use at minimum 3 years * 52 weeks * 20GB or about 3TB even if there are few changes in the documents. Its pretty inefficient use of space. Looking up previous versions of a file is very slow (tens of minutes). This is probably related to the previous issue - Windows has to traverse its all of its backups. I am considering using SVN + autocommit/autoupdate tortoisesvn. It will have the following advantages: Backups are easy and will also backup the whole history of each documents. (Just backup the repository). Creating previous versions can be frequent. I think svn commit / update can be done every two minutes or so. Users can sync over the net. However, I can see the following issues: More conflicts than the original setup because both multiple users can now edit the same file even both are online, i.e. can connect to the SVN repo. The users can off course lock the file first before editing, but that would mean they have to adjust. Delay on propagation of file changes. On windows 7 file sharing, changes made by one online user will be instantaneously available to other online users. With the SVN setup, changes will only be propagated when the users execute the svn add/commit/update sequence. Delay will be probably a few minutes. This workflow will no longer work: "Hi, I just edited document X, can you have a quick look?" I would like to ask the opinion of the community for alternative setups, or improvements on the above setups to work out the kinks.

    Hi all I've built an iPhone app which is live in the app-store. When originally submitting the app it showed up in App Store as requiring iPhone OS 3.1.3. When later updating the app I made sure my settings in Xcode for the target for the app store build had the Base SDK version set to 3.1.3 and the Deployment Target version set to 3.0, however it still shows up in app store as requiring 3.1.3. From what I've understood the Deployment Target version is the one setting the requirement in app store? Or is there any information concerning this that I should have updated in iTunes Connect when submitting the updated app? Thanks, Michael

    We're using an API from a provider; in their next version, they would provide an OpenId server but mostly the users are using their desktop application. An other website we're building would be opened from this application and we supposedly would connect with openid to access the resources stored in this provider. Still I don't understand how this would work if user is already authenticated with the desktop, will they have to authenticate an other time ? What happens if they close their browser and reopen it, will they have to to do it again ?

    I created an application and all the db tables have 'created,modified' fields that filled automatically by Cakephp's Default Functionality. And i put the Field Type is created datetime NULL, modified datetime NULL, like. But it doesn't work. The data where shows 0000-00-00 00:00:00 Format. The cakephp version is 1.2 , so i put the datetime NULL option ,also i removed the temp,cache files in Model. I need to save the correct date & time format for those 2 fields. If there is any problem with XAMPP version (I use the latest version of XAMPP,1.7.7 PHP: 5.3.8 & mysql v 5.5.16 ) I hope that all are identifies my Issue. Please help me with correct solution.     I've seen some nice Adobe AIR demos where a component of the application is dragged outside of the application and dropped onto the desktop and then continues to run in a new window. This seems to be facilitated by the NativeDragManager class. Is there anything similar in WPF? How would you go about implementing this sort of functionality in WPF to allow a user control to be dragged to the desktop and then continue to run in a new window? This is great for multi-monitor scenarios and exactly what msft have added to vs2010. Regards pfaz

    I want to upgrade an application from Rails 2.3.14 to Rails 3. My question is which version of 3 should I go for? Should I go straight to the latest 3.2.2? Or should I go to a 3.0 version first? I have already looked at various railscasts and used the rails upgrade gem, but most of the documentation is from some time ago when rails 3.0 was latest version. Is there any reason not to go straight to 3.2.2?

    I have a Windows Service created in Visual Studio 2005 in C#. I have a setup project and a ProjectInstaller class. I also have code to programmatically get the version from the AssemblyFileVersionAttribute. I need to figure out where I set the version that I've obtained (and where this code should go). I tried placing it in the InitializeComponent method on ProjectInstaller.Designer.cs and then appending the version to serviceInstaller1.DisplayName and serviceInstaller1.ServiceName. This didn't work and you're not supposed to modify the contents of this method. Any ideas?

    Youtube video does not show up in a modal window when viewed in a desktop version of Chrome. The modal window pops up but the youtube video does not. https://animalhealth.pfizer.com/sites/pahweb/US/EN/Products/Pages/ClarifideStories.aspx It works in IE and Firefox on Windows7, works in Chrome on Android ICS and iOS6 iPad. It is on a sharepoint site but if I open a version saved to my desktop it works fine in chrome.   • Terminal Server 2008: Remote App Issue

    I have a FoxPro 2.6 (16-bit) application that I've installed on a Win2008 (32-bit) Terminal Server. I then created a Remote App from it. It works fine. The problem is that within this FoxPro application it calls out to a .Net application. I have the proper .Net Framework installed on the server (2.0) and I have run the code access security policy tool (caspol.exe). However, when I launch the .Net app from within the FoxPro application I get the following error: Description: Stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name: CLR20r3 Problem Signature 01: vector.exe Problem Signature 02: 1.0.0.3 Problem Signature 03: 48b579f2 Problem Signature 04: vector Problem Signature 05: 1.0.0.3 Problem Signature 06: 48b579f2 Problem Signature 07: f Problem Signature 08: 57 Problem Signature 09: System.Security.Security OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.18.10 Locale ID: 1033 Vector.exe is our .Net application.     I've registered xdebug in php.ini (as per http://xdebug.org/docs/install) but it's not showing up when i run "php -m" or when i get a test page to run "phpinfo()".   • Mercurial Tagging/Branching Strategy

    My current project is broken down into 3 parts: Website, Desktop Client, and a Plug-in for a third party program. We had started out originally with Subversion for our source control but decided to try Mercurial after reading Joel Spolsky's final post. Considering we haven't really used the majority of svn's potential before, we figured starting fresh with some basic ideas of how source control worked would make this transition easy. However, after setting up our initial repository, we're lost as to how tagging and branching should work on a project like this. Essentially, we're working on all 3 of these parts at the same time. We want a release to be a combination of the 3 parts. Currently we're working in one repository. For the Plug-in part, we have the first iteration finished which we've been referring to as Plug-In v0.1. For the first official build of the other two parts, we'd also like to refer to them as Website v0.1 and Desktop Client v0.1. When all three parts are at v0.1, we'd like to have a Full Project v0.1. Our problem is we're not sure how to manage all of this in the Hg repository. Would the best way to handle this be to create 3 separate repositories for the 3 stable versions and then 3 more repositories for the current developments? Currently we have this all in one repository. Should we do this in branches (are branches any different from cloning repositories?) and tags? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Project with multiple binaries in Eclipse CDT

    I think it is quite normal to have more than one binary in a project. However, with Eclipse CDT I don't know how to set up the IDE to get things done. I know I can create several projects - one per binary. And I know I can set the dependencies per project. However, I cannot regard them as one project in Eclipse. If I'd like to share the code with a version control system (like svn), each developer has to import the projects separately. What I miss is something like the Solution (sln file) in Visual Studio. Should I create a single project and create the make files by myself? I haven't tried it out yet, but there is this 'project set' which can be ex- and imported. Is this the solution? Can this be put into version control? My goal it to put everything under version control, not only subprojects. I cannot imagine that CDT makes only sense for single-binary applications. How can I work properly?

  • Need a less frustrating alternative to SVN

    It seems to me that whenever I try to do something in SVN, something messes up: Something as simple as renaming a directory would often cause an error of some sort when checking in the commit. Reverting changes to files, which was probably exactly what SVN was designed for, is incredibly error prone. Checking in a previous version is bound to blow up with some inconsistency error, and a series of unintuitive steps are required to correctly do it. Problems occur often and are usually extremely frustrating to fix. Fixing SVN problems for me involves countless attempts to commit a version of the code, getting an error, deleting the project, checking in the project, and repeat. It should be easy for multiple people to work on the project and commit changes. It is not. When you try to commit a file after someone else committed the same file, SVN is guaranteed to blow up. I haven't even mentioned branching and merging. No surprises here, merging is very prone to errors and the errors are difficult to correct. /rant What version control software best minimizes my frustrations?

    I've arrived at the point where I realise that I must start versioning my database schemata and changes. I consequently read the existing posts on SO about that topic but I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm basically a one man company and not long ago I didn't even use version control for my code. I'm on a windows environment, using Aptana (IDE) and SVN (with Tortoise). I work on PHP/mysql projects. What's a efficient and sufficient (no overkill) way to version my database schemata? I do have a freelancer or two in some projects but I don't expect a lot of branching and merging going on. So basically I would like to keep track of concurrent schemata to my code revisions. [edit] Momentary solution: for the moment I decided I will just make a schema dump plus one with the necessary initial data whenever I'm going to commit a tag (stable version).   • I did my own web framework: now, how keep it sync with applications? must I use versions?

    ... and I did the first web application using it, now I'm going to create the second. In this first web application I enhanced the framework's core library with new things and promptly updated framework branch. I'm using bazaar to keep framework and web application committed. The application was in the beginning, a full branch of framework source tree, now I'm updating framework manually at every change on core files. (copying changed files from web app to framework's branch). With this second web application that I'm going to create, I need to know about versions (or revisions) which the application is based. If I found a bug in this version I can fix and then sync files with first web application no worrying: functions will be the same to this application. If I'm going to make changes in core (new behavior, new functions in library or something new in source tree) it must be named as "new version". What's the best way to do this? Because I'm using a Distributed Version Control System (bazaar), I'm not dealing with VERSIONS, but revision numbers that change every time. Please fresh my mind with new ideas.
