  • How can I transfer an NHibernate PersistentGenericSet over WCF

    I'm trying to send objects retrieved by NHibernate over WCF, but whenever a have a property of ICollection I get an exception. When NHibernate gets the data from the database this property is intitialized with an instance of PersistentGenericSet. Is there a way I can send a PersistentGenericSet over WCF? -or- Is there some way making NHibernate initialize these properties with another type?

    I'm watching this video, which is pretty good http://www.gotoandlearn.com/play?id=108 It shows how to inherit from DownloadProgressBar to create a customer preloader for your flex app. The DownloadProgressBar class has an overridable getter for the property 'preloader.' Isn't this poor design? What does a property called preloader have anything to do with a class for a DownloadProgressBar?

    I have a Permissions class with methods in fluent style like this: somePermissions.setRead(true).setWrite(false).setExecute(true) The question is, whether I should name these methods set{Property} or only {property}. The latter would look like this: somePermissions.read(true).write(false).execute(true) If I look at these methods separately I would expect that read reads something, but on the other hand it is closer to the intention to have something like named paramaters like in Scala: Permission(read=true, write=false, execute=true)

    I've had this sort of problem before, and it didn't get a satisfactory answer. I have a viewcontroller with a property called "counties" that is an NSMutableArray. I'm going to drill down a navigation screen to a view that is about selecting the counties for a geographical search. So the search page drills down to the "select counties" page. I pass NSMutableArray *counties to the second controller as I push the second one on the navigation stack. I actually set that second controller's "selectedCounties" property (also an NSMutableArray) with a pointer to my first controller's "counties", as you'll see below. DetectNewerInstalledVersion:True RemovePreviousVersion:True But each and every setup file we need to change the version property of Setupfile. If it is, it won't through error while installing current setupfile otherwise it throws error: already installed.     Hi, I have created styled a ListBox in WPF so that it is rendered as a checkbox list. When I populate the ListBox's items manually, the styling works perfectly. However, when I instead bind the ItemsSource of the ListBox to a static resource (an ItemsControl containing the required items), the styling is completely dropped.   • Azure storage - double decimal point ignored on save

    I have a value that is correctly stored in a property of an object, but when I save the changes to the Azure storage database, the double value is stored to the database ignoring the point (7.1000000003 is saved as 711). Also, the property is changed to 711.0. How do I solve this problem? The field is already set to double in the class and the database table.

  • How can I flip/rotate a PrintDocument in .NET ?

    I have a document that I want to be flipped / rotated 180 degrees when printed. (This is due to the orientation of label stock in the printer). There is a property PrintDocument.PrinterSettings.LandscapeAngle but it is read only. I think this property is influenced by the printer driver and therefore not 'settable'. Is there a nice way i can rotate the print by 180 degrees without having to do anything too nasty?

But I want to restrict the columns to grow beyond a certain value. There is a MinimumWidth Property ... but unfortunately no MaximumWidth Property. Any ideas how to solve this?   • Can I use the auto-generated Linq-to-SQL entity classes in 'disconnected' mode?

    Suppose I have an automatically-generated Employee class based on the Employees table in my database. Now suppose that I want to pass employee data to a ShowAges method that will print out name & age for a list of employees. I'll retrieve the data for a given set of employees via a linq query, which will return me a set of Employee instances. I can then pass the Employee instances to the ShowAges method, which can access the Name & Age fields to get the data it needs. However, because my Employees table has relationships with various other tables in my database, my Employee class also has a Department field, a Manager field, etc. that provide access to related records in those other tables. If the ShowAges method were to invoke any of those methods, this would cause lots more data to be fetched from the database, on-demand. I want to be sure that the ShowAges method only uses the data I have already fetched for it, but I really don't want to have to go to the trouble of defining a new class which replicates the Employee class but has fewer methods. (In my real-world scenario, the class would have to be considerably more complex than the Employee class described here; it would have several 'joined' classes that do need to be populated, and others that don't). Is there a way to 'switch off' or 'disconnect' the Employees instances so that an attempt to access any property or related object that's not already populated will raise an exception? If not, then I assume that since this must be a common requirement, there might be an already-established pattern for doing this sort of thing?

    What would be your approach with NHibernate to do the following: When Comment is inserted into DB, and its property Text is inserted into column Text (due to a mapping), insert into column TextHash a hash of this property value. It seems trivial if I map TextHash, but how should I do this without mapping it? I do not need it in the domain model, its a DB-level optimization (I would use computed HashBytes if not for the length limit).
