  • How should I handle searching through byte arrays in Java?

    Preliminary: I am writting my own httpclient in Java. I am trying to parse out the contents of chunked encoding. Here is my dilema: Since I am trying to parse out chunked http transfer encoding with a gzip payload there is a mix of ascii and binary. I can't just take the http resp content and convert it to a string and make use of StringUtils since the binary data can easily contain nil characters. So what I need to do is some basic things for parsing out each chunk and its chunk length (as per chunked transfer/HTTP/1.1 spec). Are there any helpful ways of searching through byte arrays of binary/part ascii data for certain patterns (like a CR LF) (instead of just a single byte) ? Or must I write the for loops for this?

    The software I am using produces log files with a variable number of lines of summary information followed by lots of tab delimited data. I am trying to write a function that will read the data from these log files into a data frame ignoring the summary information. The summary information never contains a tab, so the following function works: read.parameters <- function(file.name, ...){ lines <- scan("tmp.log", what="character", sep="\n") first.line <- min(grep("\\t", lines)) return(read.delim(file.name, skip=first.line-1, ...)) } However, these logfiles are quite big, and so reading the file twice is very slow. Surely there is a better way?

    I am developing a application for benchmarking purposes, for which I require to create large number of http connection in a short time, I created a program in java to test how much threads is java able to create, it turns out in my 2GB single core machine, the limit is variable between 5000 and 6000 with 1 GB of memory given to JVM after which it hits outofmemoryerror with heap limit reached. It is suggested around that erlang will be able to generate much more concurrent processes, I am willing to learn erlang if it is capable of solving the problem , although I am interested in knowing can erlang be able to say generate somewhere around 100000 processes which are essentially http requests waiting for responses, in a matter of few seconds without reaching any limit like memory error etc.,

  • X-Domain Cookies in iFrames

    Hi Guys, I have a domain A.com which is my website. I want to allow the user to login and then I have embedded an iframe into domain B.com which attempts to grab the cookie from A.com to allow the user to be continued to be signed in. I can't seem to get this working in IE ? A new session gets set instead and the cookie is never retrieved. I have set a P3P policy ? Any ideas what I am doing wrong.

    Not sure why, but it is happy sending a GET to the fastcgi backend (Mercurial hgwebdir in this case), but simply resorts to the filesystem if the request is a POST.     I've been trying to get Rails to play with the new Facebook Graph API. After I get the authorization "code", I need to send another request which returns the access token in JSON form. It seems to work fine, however I want to fetch the access token JSON without redirecting the user. I'm attempting to use Net::HTTP.get, but I'm not sure how to use it to get a request body, or even if it's the right thing to use to begin with. Can anyone give an example of performing an HTTP GET?

  • Including C header file with lots of global variables

    I have an include file with 100+ global variables. It's being used in a library, but some programs that I'm linking the lib to also need to access the globals. The way it was built: // In one library .c file #define Extern // In the programs that use the globals #define Extern extern // In the .h file Extern int a,b,c; I had a hard time understanding why the original programmer did that so I removed that define Extern stuff. Now I think I understand the thing about TU with the help of stackoverflow: 1, 2, 3. Now I understand that I should define the global variables in one .c file in the library and use extern in the .h file. The problem is that I don't want to duplicate code. Should I go back to that #define Extern voodoo?

I have figured out how to use UTF-8 for the body, subject line, and generic headers, but I am still stuck on the recipients. Here's what I'd like in the "To:" field: "????????????" <[email protected]>.   • I'm confused, how do I control cache so my clients can see website edits.

    I host about 10 websites for clients. Every so often a client will ask for an update to their website. It may be a simple image change, new PDF or a simple text change. I make the change and then send them a link to the web page with the update. About an hour later I will get an email back from the client telling me they still see the old page. I will then explaining to them how to empty their browsers cache. What I'm trying to figure out is if there is a way I can tell their browser that I made an update to the website and that it should reload the page and update the cache. I thought about trying a meta tag but I read that they are not very reliable. Also I would still like the page to cache I just want to be able to clear it when I make an update. Is this possible? I'm an advanced front end web developer (HTML, CSS, Javascript) and know some PHP. Cache is just one of those things I don't really understand that well.

    The standard should solve the following Authentication challenges like- Replay attacks Man in the Middle Plaintext attacks Dictionary attacks Brute force attacks Spoofing by counterfeit servers I have already looked at Amazon Web Services and that is one possibility. More importantly there seems to be two most common approaches: Use apiKey which is encoded in a similar fashion like AWS but is a post parameter to a request Use Http AuthenticationHeader and use a similar signature like AWS. Signature is typically obtained by signing a date stamp with an encrypted shared secret. This signature is therefore passed either as an apiKey or in the Http AuthenticationHeader. I would like to know weigh both the options from the community, who may have used one or more and would also like to explore other options that I am not considering. I would also use HTTPS to secure my services.

    I have a PHP login which sets 2 cookies once someone login. The problem is that if you login from http://www.example.com and you go to http://example.com, you will find yourself not logged in. I think that is because the browser only send the cookies to the first syntax. It is only one domain, the difference is the www. before the domain name, so how to set cookies to the whole domain whatever there is www. or not? <?php setcookie('username',$username,time()+3600); ?>

My makefile is based off a template that the libtcod designers provided along with the library itself, and while I've looked at a few online makefile tutorials, the code in this makefile is a good bit more complicated than any of the examples the tutorials showed, so I'm assuming I screwed up something basic in the conversion.     Hi folks I am a complete novice to Flash (never created anything in flash). I am quite familiar with web applications (J2EE based) and have a reasonable expertise in Javascript. Here is my requirement. I want the user to select (via an html form) an image. Normally in the post, this image would be sent to server and may be stored there to be served later. I do not want that. I want to store this image locally and then serve it via HTTP to the user. So, the flow is: 1. Go to the "select image url":mywebsite.com/selectImage Browse the image and select the image This would transfer control locally to some code running on the client (Javascript or flash), which would then store the image locally at some place on the client machine. Go to the "show image url": mywebsite.com/showImage This would eventually result in some client code running on the browser that retrieves the image and renders it (without any server round trips.) I considered the following options: Use HTML5 local storage. Since I am a complete novice to flash, I looked into this. I found that it is fairly straightforward to store and retrieve images in javascript (only strings are allowed but I am hoping storing base64 encoded strings would work at least for small images). However, how do I serve the image via http url that points to my server without a server round trip? I saw the interesting article at http://hacks.mozilla.org/category/fileapi/ but that would work only in firefox and I need to work on all latest browsers (at least the ones supporting HTML5 local storage) Use flash SharedObjects. OK, this would have been good - the only thing is I am not sure where to start. Snippets of actionscripts to do this are scattered everywhere but I do not know how to use those scripts in an actual html page:) I do not need to create any movies or anything - just need to store an image and serve it locally. If I go this route, I would also use it to store other "strings" locally. If you suggest this, please give me the exact steps (could be pointers to other web sites) on how to do this. I would like to avoid paying for any flash development environment software ideally:) Thank you!

  • External html, for headers/navs?

    Hey all, looking to see if theres a way to easily include external html file inside the body to repeat on every page, for instance: a navigator or something. Basically if i have to add a menu item or something, i have to go and paste all the code into each page. Or even a way to section parts off in Dreamweaver to update based on a file or something would work i suppose Ive done it before through JavaScript with document.writes and stuff, but it was very annoying, and probably a terrible way to go about doing so. thanks for your help!
