  • Disable auto resize this page when opening in IE

    - by Stan
If open yahoo finance chart in IE, the chart will be resized to fit the viewing window, and making the chart viewable without scrolling down. However, this makes the chart become smaller for me. I would like to see original size, which requires me to click the setting bar and change something to make it restore original size. The chart shows original size in Chrome. Is it possible to view original size in IE by passing some parameters in url? I was trying looking into source code but found nothing.

  • Slow boot on Ubuntu 12.04, probable cause the network connection

    - by Ravi S Ghosh
I have been having rather slow boot on Ubuntu 12.04. Lately, I tried to figure out the reason and it seems to be the network connection which does not get connected and requires multiple attempts. Here is part of dmesg [ 2.174349] EXT4-fs (sda2): INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem [ 2.174352] EXT4-fs (sda2): write access will be enabled during recovery [ 2.308172] firewire_core: created device fw0: GUID 384fc00005198d58, S400 [ 2.333457] usb 7-1.2: new low-speed USB device number 3 using uhci_hcd [ 2.465896] EXT4-fs (sda2): recovery complete [ 2.466406] EXT4-fs (sda2): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. • How to generate random numbers of lognormal distribution within specific range in Matlab

    - by Harpreet
My grain sizes are defined as D=[1.19,1.00,0.84,0.71,0.59,0.50,0.42]. The problem is described below in steps. Grain sizes should follow lognormal distribution. The mean of the grain sizes is fixed as 0.84 and the standard deviation should be as low as possible but not zero. 90% of the grains (by weight %) fall in the size range of 1.19 to 0.59, and the rest 10% fall in size range of 0.50 to 0.42. Now I want to find the probabilities (weight percentage) of the grains falling in each grain size. It is allowable to split this grain size distribution into further small sizes but it must always be in the range of 1.19 and 0.42, i.e. 'D' can be continuous but 0.42 < D < 1.19. I need it fast. I tried on my own but I am not able to get the correct result. I am getting negative probabilities (weight percentages). Thanks to anyone who helps. I didn't incorporate the point 3 as I came to know about that condition later. Here are simple steps I tried: %% D=[1.19,1.00,0.84,0.71,0.59,0.50,0.42]; s=0.30; % std dev of the lognormal distribution m=0.84; % mean of the lognormal distribution mu=log(m^2/sqrt(s^2+m^2)); % mean of the associated normal dist. sigma=sqrt(log((s^2/m^2)+1)); % std dev of the associated normal dist. [r,c]=size(D); for i=1:c D(i)=mu+(sigma.*randn(1)); w(i)=(log(D(i))-mu)/sigma; % the probability or the wt. percentage of the grain sizes end grain_size=exp(D); %%

  • linux new/delete, malloc/free large memory blocks

    - by brian_mk
Hi folks, We have a linux system (kubuntu 7.10) that runs a number of CORBA Server processes. The server software uses glibc libraries for memory allocation. The linux PC has 4G physical memory. Swap is disabled for speed reasons. Upon receiving a request to process data, one of the server processes allocates a large data buffer (using the standard C++ operator 'new'). The buffer size varies depening upon a number of parameters but is typically around 1.2G Bytes. It can be up to about 1.9G Bytes. When the request has completed, the buffer is released using 'delete'. This works fine for several consecutive requests that allocate buffers of the same size or if the request allocates a smaller size than the previous. The memory appears to be free'd ok - otherwise buffer allocation attempts would eventually fail after just a couple of requests. In any case, we can see the buffer memory being allocated and freed for each request using tools such as KSysGuard etc. The problem arises when a request requires a buffer larger than the previous. In this case, operator 'new' throws an exception. It's as if the memory that has been free'd from the first allocation cannot be re-allocated even though there is sufficient free physical memory available. If I kill and restart the server process after the first operation, then the second request for a larger buffer size succeeds. i.e. killing the process appears to fully release the freed memory back to the system. Can anyone offer an explanation as to what might be going on here? Could it be some kind of fragmentation or mapping table size issue? I am thinking of replacing new/delete with malloc/free and use mallopt to tune the way the memory is being released to the system. BTW - I'm not sure if it's relevant to our problem, but the server uses Pthreads that get created and destroyed on each processing request. Cheers, Brian.

  • jquery with ASP.NET MVC - calling ajax enabled web service

    - by dcp
This is a bit of a continuation of a previous question. Now I'm trying to make a call to an AJAX enabled web service which I have defined within the ASP.NET MVC application (i.e. the MovieService.svc). But the service is never being called in my getMovies javascript function. This same technique of calling the AJAX web service works ok if I try it in a non ASP.NET MVC application, so it makes me wonder if maybe the ASP MVC routes are interfering with things somehow when it tries to make the AJAX web service call. Do you have any idea why my web service isn't getting called? • Count max rectangles number, that can be placed inside character

    - by Nickolay
Hi, I need a solution for quite complex problem. Exactly, I need to calculate the number of rectangles that can be placed inside letter/character with given size, considering that all rectangles are the same size, but it(the size) and the letter/character(of some regular specific font) itself can be changed by user(this will be used as webside calculator of signboard price). If describe this graphically, it looks like this. Any ideas or useful links will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

  • OpenGL particle system

    - by allan
I'm really new with OpenGL, so bear with me. I'm trying to simulate a particle system using OpenGl but I can't get it to work, this is what I have so far: #include <GL/glut.h> int main (int argc, char **argv){ // data allocation, various non opengl stuff ............ glutInit(&argc, argv); glutInitDisplayMode(GLUT_RGB | GLUT_DOUBLE ); glutInitWindowPosition(100,100); glutInitWindowSize(size, size); glPointSize (4); glutCreateWindow("test gl"); ............ // initial state, not opengl ............ glViewport(0,0,size,size); glutDisplayFunc(display); glutIdleFunc(compute); glutMainLoop(); } void compute (void) { // change state not opengl glutPostRedisplay(); } void display (void) { glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT); glBegin(GL_POINTS); for(i = 0; i<nparticles; i++) { // two types of particles if (TYPE(particle[i]) == 1) glColor3f(1,0,0); else glColor3f(0,0,1); glVertex2f(X(particle[i]),Y(particle[i])); } glEnd(); glFlush(); glutSwapBuffers(); } I get a black window after a couple of seconds (the window has just the title bar before that). Where do I go wrong? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks. LE: the x and y coordinates of each particle are within the interval (0,size)

  • Sizing of a UITableViewCell

    - by Xetius
I have created a UITableViewCell derived class which resizes itself to display at an indentation level. I have tried setting indentationLevel and indentationWidth using the following in the ViewControllers cellForRowAtIndexPath: cell.indentationLevel = [[item objectForKey:@"indent"] intValue]; cell.indentationWidth = CELL_INDENT_SIZE; This in itself does not indent the cell, so I am using the following layoutSubviews in the UITableViewCell: -(void)layoutSubviews { CGFloat indentSize = (self.indentationLevel - 1) * self.indentationWidth; CGRect r = containerView.frame; containerView.frame = CGRectMake (r.origin.x + indentSize, r.origin.y, r.size.width - indentSize, r.size.height); DLog(@"frameRect : %f, %f, %f, %f, %f",indentSize, r.origin.x, r.origin.y, r.size.width, r.size.height); [super layoutSubviews]; } This works fine for the initial layout, but when the cell is selected, it recalculates itself from the new dimensions and effectively shrinks the cell every time it is selected. How can I resize this cell so that it doesn't keep changing the layout.

  • opengl 3d texture issue

    - by user1478217
Hi i'm trying to use a 3d texture in opengl to implement volume rendering. Each voxel has an rgba colour value and is currently rendered as a screen facing quad.(for testing purposes). I just can't seem to get the sampler to give me a colour value in the shader. The quads always end up black. When I change the shader to generate a colour (based on xyz coords) then it works fine. I'm loading the texture with the following code: glGenTextures(1, &tex3D); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_3D, tex3D); unsigned int colours[8]; colours[0] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Blue); colours[1] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Red); colours[2] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Green); colours[3] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Magenta); colours[4] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Cyan); colours[5] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Yellow); colours[6] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::White); colours[7] = Colour::AsBytes<unsigned int>(Colour::Black); glTexImage3D(GL_TEXTURE_3D, 0, GL_RGBA, 2, 2, 2, 0, GL_RGBA, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, colours); The colours array contains the correct data, i.e. the first four bytes have values 0, 0, 255, 255 for blue. Before rendering I bind the texture to the 2nd texture unit like so: glActiveTexture(GL_TEXTURE1); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_3D, tex3D); And render with the following code: shaders["DVR"]->Use(); shaders["DVR"]->Uniforms["volTex"].SetValue(1); shaders["DVR"]->Uniforms["World"].SetValue(Mat4(vl_one)); shaders["DVR"]->Uniforms["viewProj"].SetValue(cam->GetViewTransform() * cam->GetProjectionMatrix()); QuadDrawer::DrawQuads(8); I have used these classes for setting shader params before and they work fine. The quaddrawer draws eight instanced quads. The vertex shader code looks like this: #version 330 layout(location = 0) in vec2 position; layout(location = 1) in vec2 texCoord; uniform sampler3D volTex; ivec3 size = ivec3(2, 2, 2); uniform mat4 World; uniform mat4 viewProj; smooth out vec4 colour; void main() { vec3 texCoord3D; int num = gl_InstanceID; texCoord3D.x = num % size.x; texCoord3D.y = (num / size.x) % size.y; texCoord3D.z = (num / (size.x * size.y)); texCoord3D /= size; texCoord3D *= 2.0; texCoord3D -= 1.0; colour = texture(volTex, texCoord3D); //colour = vec4(texCoord3D, 1.0); gl_Position = viewProj * World * vec4(texCoord3D, 1.0) + (vec4(position.x, position.y, 0.0, 0.0) * 0.05); } uncommenting the line where I set the colour value equal to the texcoord works fine, and makes the quads coloured. The fragment shader is simply: #version 330 smooth in vec4 colour; out vec4 outColour; void main() { outColour = colour; } So my question is, what am I doing wrong, why is the sampler not getting any colour values from the 3d texture? [EDIT] Figured it out but can't self answer (new user): As soon as I posted this I figured it out, I'll put the answer up to help anyone else (it's not specifically a 3d texture issue, and i've also fallen afoul of it before, D'oh!). I didn't generate mipmaps for the texture, and the default magnification/minification filters weren't set to either GL_LINEAR, or GL_NEAREST. Boom! no textures. Same thing happens with 2d textures.

  • script to convert css sheet from px to em

    - by Sy Moen
Anyone know of a script (php, python, perl, bash, whatever) that will convert a stylesheet from px to em? Like, it would take input of the filename and base font-size (default 16) and convert all px instances to em? eg: convertpx2ems --file stylesheet.css --base-font-size 16 would convert this: button { font-size:14px; padding:8px 19px 9px; } to something like this: button { font-size: .875em; padding: .5em 1.188em .563em; } ...maybe, is there a way to do this with sass?

Googled for hours and all people say is that if you have your keyDown method you should also implement the acceptsFirstResponder. did that to and it still doesn't work. #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> #import "PaddleView.h" #import "BallView.h" @interface GameController : NSView { PaddleView *leftPaddle; PaddleView *rightPaddle; BallView * ball; CGPoint ballVelocity; int gameState; int player1Score; int player2Score; } @property (retain) IBOutlet PaddleView *leftPaddle; @property (retain) IBOutlet PaddleView *rightPaddle; @property (retain) IBOutlet BallView *ball; - (void)reset:(BOOL)newGame; @end #import "GameController.h" #define GameStateRunning 1 #define GameStatePause 2 #define BallSpeedX 0.2 #define BallSpeedY 0.3 #define CompMoveSpeed 15 #define ScoreToWin 5 @implementation GameController @synthesize leftPaddle, rightPaddle, ball; - (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)aDecoder { self = [super initWithCoder:aDecoder]; if(self) { gameState = GameStatePause; ballVelocity = CGPointMake(BallSpeedX, BallSpeedY); [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.001 target:self selector:@selector(gameLoop) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; } return self; } - (void)gameLoop { if(gameState == GameStateRunning) { [ball setFrameOrigin:CGPointMake(ball.frame.origin.x + ballVelocity.x, ball.frame.origin.y + ballVelocity.y)]; if(ball.frame.origin.x + 15 > self.frame.size.width || ball.frame.origin.x < 0) { ballVelocity.x =- ballVelocity.x; } if(ball.frame.origin.y + 35 > self.frame.size.height || ball.frame.origin.y < 0) { ballVelocity.y =- ballVelocity.y; } } if(CGRectIntersectsRect(ball.frame, leftPaddle.frame)) { if(ball.frame.origin.x > leftPaddle.frame.origin.x) { ballVelocity.x =- ballVelocity.x; } } if(CGRectIntersectsRect(ball.frame, rightPaddle.frame)) { if(ball.frame.origin.x +15 > rightPaddle.frame.origin.x) { ballVelocity.x =- ballVelocity.x; } } if(ball.frame.origin.x <= self.frame.size.width / 2) { if(ball.frame.origin.y < leftPaddle.frame.origin.y + 75 && leftPaddle.frame.origin.y > 0) { [leftPaddle setFrameOrigin:CGPointMake(leftPaddle.frame.origin.x, leftPaddle.frame.origin.y - CompMoveSpeed)]; } if(ball.frame.origin.y > leftPaddle.frame.origin.y +75 && leftPaddle.frame.origin.y < 700 - leftPaddle.frame.size.height ) { [leftPaddle setFrameOrigin:CGPointMake(leftPaddle.frame.origin.x, leftPaddle.frame.origin.y + CompMoveSpeed)]; } } if(ball.frame.origin.x <= 0) { player2Score++; [self reset:(player2Score >= ScoreToWin)]; } if(ball.frame.origin.x + 15 > self.frame.size.width) { player1Score++; [self reset:(player1Score >= ScoreToWin)]; } } - (void)reset:(BOOL)newGame { gameState = GameStatePause; [ball setFrameOrigin:CGPointMake((self.frame.size.width + 7.5) / 2, (self.frame.size.height + 7.5)/2)]; if(newGame) { if(player1Score > player2Score) { NSLog(@"Player 1 Wins!"); } else { NSLog(@"Player 2 Wins!"); } player1Score = 0; player2Score = 0; } else { NSLog(@"Press key to serve"); } NSLog(@"Player 1: %d",player1Score); NSLog(@"Player 2: %d",player2Score); } - (void)moveRightPaddleUp { if(rightPaddle.frame.origin.y < 700 - rightPaddle.frame.size.height) { [rightPaddle setFrameOrigin:CGPointMake(rightPaddle.frame.origin.x, rightPaddle.frame.origin.y + 20)]; } } - (void)moveRightPaddleDown { if(rightPaddle.frame.origin.y > 0) { [rightPaddle setFrameOrigin:CGPointMake(rightPaddle.frame.origin.x, rightPaddle.frame.origin.y - 20)]; } } - (BOOL)acceptsFirstResponder { return YES; } - (void)keyDown:(NSEvent *)theEvent { if ([theEvent modifierFlags] & NSNumericPadKeyMask) { NSString *theArrow = [theEvent charactersIgnoringModifiers]; unichar keyChar = 0; if ( [theArrow length] == 0 ) { return; // reject dead keys } if ( [theArrow length] == 1 ) { keyChar = [theArrow characterAtIndex:0]; if ( keyChar == NSLeftArrowFunctionKey ) { gameState = GameStateRunning; } if ( keyChar == NSRightArrowFunctionKey ) { } if ( keyChar == NSUpArrowFunctionKey ) { [self moveRightPaddleUp]; } if ( keyChar == NSDownArrowFunctionKey ) { [self moveRightPaddleDown]; } [super keyDown:theEvent]; } } else { [super keyDown:theEvent]; } } - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect { } - (void)dealloc { [ball release]; [rightPaddle release]; [leftPaddle release]; [super dealloc]; } @end

  • How to find subgroups statistics in pandas?

    - by user2808117
I am grouping a DataFrame using multiple columns (e.g., columns A, B - my_df.groupby(['A','B']) ), is there a better (less lines of code, faster) way of finding how many rows are in each subgroup and how many subgroups are there in total? at the moment I am using: def get_grp_size(grp): grp['size'] = len(grp) return grp my_df = my_df.groupby(['A','B']).apply(get_grp_size) my_df[['A','B','size']].drop_duplicates().size

  • Scrollbar still is painted after it should be removed

    - by Walter Williams
I have the following custom control and can place on a form (with AutoScroll set to true and the control anchored left, top and right). If the form is too short for the control, the form correctly resizes the control (to make room for the scroll) and displays the scroll bar. When the control is closed using the close glyph, the control is resized and the scroll bar is removed, but occasionally the scroll bar appears to remain painted. If the form is minimized or moved off-screen, the leftover paint is removed. I've tried Parent.Invalidate and have toyed with it in many ways but to no avail. Any suggestions? • How could I get an .ear's filesize at runtime?

    - by adam
I started out attempting to do this with the Length ant task, but realized that that would be done before the ear is packaged. Packaging the ear, then checking the file size, and then placing it in the ear would effect the size of the ear. Is there a way to get the ear's size programmatically at run-time? Or perhaps an MBean that would have that information?

  • Math with interpolated variables?

    Consider the following sass: $font-size: 18; $em: $font-size; $column: $font-size * 3; // The column-width of my grid in pixels $gutter: $font-size * 1; // The gutter-width of my grid in pixels $gutter-em: #{$gutter / $em}em; // The gutter-width in ems. $column-em: #{$column / $em}em; // The column-width in ems; $foo = $gutter-em / 2; // This results in a value like "1em/2". :( $bar = ($gutter-em / 2); // this doesn't work either, same as above. How can I generate a $foo that works, and that I can reuse further in other expressions?

  • Problem evaluating NULL in an IIF statement (Access)

    - by Mohgeroth
Item in the recordset rstImportData("Flat Size") is = Null With that, given the following statement: IIF(IsNull(rstImportData("Flat Size")), Null, cstr(rstImportData("Flat Size"))) Result: Throws error 94: Invalid use of Null If I change the statement by removing the type conversion upon a false comparison: IIF(IsNull(rstImportData("Flat Size")), Null, 0) Result: Null It returns Null as it should have the first time. It appears that I cannot do a type conversion in an IIF if the value passed in should ever be null even if it passes an IIF test, it still attempts to evaluate it at both the true and false answer. The only reason I'm using IIF like this is because I have a 25 line comparison to compare data from an Import against a matching record in a database to see if I need to append the prior to history. Any thoughts? The way data is imported there will be null dates and where the spreadsheet import is in a string format I must convert either side to the other to compare the values properly but if either side is null this exception occurs :(
