    Hello all! I have a Java / Spring MVC 3 application, using Hibernate and a MySQL database. In my controller, I have this source code: Set<ConstraintViolation<Person>> failures = validator.validate(p); if (failures.isEmpty()) { Project project = this.projectService.findProjectById(projectid); Person newPerson = this.personService.addPerson(p); Set<Person> persons = this.personService.getAllPersonsByProjectId(projectid); persons.add(newPerson); project.setPersons(persons); Set<ConstraintViolation<Project>> failures1 = validator.validate(project); if (!failures1.isEmpty()) { System.out.println("ERROR"); } else { System.out.println("NO ERROR"); } this.projectService.updateProject(project); return Collections.singletonMap("person", newPerson); } Project and Person are a many-to-many relation annotated with @manytomany and Project is the mapping owner. The new Person is added, but on the line with this.projectService.updateProject(project); I get an error. What it does it this in a Dao Hibernate implementation: public void updateProject(Project p) { SessionFactory sessionFactory = HibernateUtil.getSessionFactory(); Session sess = sessionFactory.getCurrentSession(); Transaction tx = sess.beginTransaction(); sess.update(p); tx.commit(); } It failed on the line tx.commit();. My check with if (!failures1.isEmpty()) { tell me that there are nor errors in my project. So what's wrong here? And why there is a validation of my project? I did not call a validation method... so why is there a org.hibernate.cfg.beanvalidation.BeanValidationEventListener.validate()? I hope, someone can help me how to fix this! Best Regards, Tim.   • Are there any PCI graphics cards with Windows 7 drivers?

    I have a Dell D830 laptop and am trying to add a second graphics card (to the laptop dock) to drive more monitors. It needs to be PCI (not PCI-e), and would ideally itself have dual DVI outputs (although I'll settle for DVI + VGA or even just DVI at this stage...) Needs to have real Windows 7 drivers, not just Vista drivers. Thanks!

    Hello, Has anyone been able to get a TrendNet TEW-643PI Wireless N card working under UBUNTU, if so what drivers did you use and where did you find them. I have this card and would really like to be able to use it in my computer. I found drivers that may work but dont know how to get ubuntu to pick up the drivers. I have tried the Additional Drivers option but cannot seem to get ubuntu to pick up the drivers. Thanks.

  • SCCM 2012 unable to update boot images with pxe enabled

    we are fighting an error in sccm 2012. When we attempt to distribute boot images (after selecting the pxe option) we receive an error that the pxe image cannot be expanded (distmgr log). Can you give us any direction on what to try or attempt in this scenario? We only have one dp in our environment at the moment, however we have found that by creating another dp on a different server we don’t have this problem. However we really need the primary site to be a dp. We have tried: Removing and reinstalling the dp Removing and reinstalling the WDS Reinstalled the OS ... ouch Reinstalled SQL We even attempted to manually mount these wims in the remote install folder, no luck...   • Windows 8 power-shell "update-help" is failing. Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Windows 8 includes PowerShell out of the box, but not the help. To get the help you run PowerShell as administrator and type "update-help". Making my first steps in RIA Services (VS2010Beta2) and i encountered this problem: created an EF Model (no POCOs), generic repository on top of it and a RIA Service(hosted in an ASP.NET MVC application) and tryed to get data from within the ASP.NET MVC application: worked well. Next step: Silverlight client.     Hi there, I need to update some of the values of the item being edited in my code-behind based on some values in a custom Edit Form on our Rad Grid. Can I access the item (and update some values) from one of the Grid's event handlers? Currently I'm storing the values in temporary variables and then injecting the new values in the ObjectDataSource's Inserting/Updating event handlers, but it would be much nicer if I could do it all in one spot. (I can't do it all in the ObjectDataSource event handlers as I can't access the controls inside my Grid's Edit Form.) I've been playing with the ExtractValues and UpdateValues methods of the GridEditableItem object, but I'm not having any luck. Any tips would be greatly appreciated :)

According to the Passbook docs you need to use the Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) to trigger a pull from the iOS device in order to update the Passbook. This APNS push consists of a "push token" and a "pass type id." However, the APNS body is to be left empty. The APNS docs talk about a "device token" needed to send a push notification but make no mention of a "push token." Is an APNS "device token" the same as a Passbook "push token"? How do I send the Passbook "pass type id" in my APNS push?

    Hello, I'm having this annoyning problem giving this message in the console: Failed to launch simulated application: iPhone Simulator failed to find the process ID of com.iAndApp.BlockPop. When trying to Build and Run, the application builds fine. The simulator starts but doesn't start the application. However, it manages to do something since the icon for the app is installed in the simulator. I have been searching to find the answer and tried a couple of things, none that worked. This happens for both new and old projects. I.e. when I create a new project I will receive the same error message. I've tried several projects of which all get the same error, so it's not related to the code (and successful builds proves it). Among other things I have updated to xCode 3.2.2. in order to try to solve the problem. Using Mac OSX 10.6.3.   • Using MVC2 to update an Entity Framework v4 object with foreign keys fails

    With the following simple relational database structure: An Order has one or more OrderItems, and each OrderItem has one OrderItemStatus. Entity Framework v4 is used to communicate with the database and entities have been generated from this schema. The Entities connection happens to be called EnumTestEntities in the example. The trimmed down version of the Order Repository class looks like this: public class OrderRepository { private EnumTestEntities entities = new EnumTestEntities(); // Query Methods public Order Get(int id) { return entities.Orders.SingleOrDefault(d => d.OrderID == id); } // Persistence public void Save() { entities.SaveChanges(); } } An MVC2 app uses Entity Framework models to drive the views. I'm using the EditorFor feature of MVC2 to drive the Edit view. When it comes to POSTing back any changes to the model, the following code is called: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Edit(int id, FormCollection formValues) { // Get the current Order out of the database by ID Order order = orderRepository.Get(id); var orderItems = order.OrderItems; try { // Update the Order from the values posted from the View UpdateModel(order, ""); // Without the ValueProvider suffix it does not attempt to update the order items UpdateModel(order.OrderItems, "OrderItems.OrderItems"); // All the Save() does is call SaveChanges() on the database context orderRepository.Save(); return RedirectToAction("Details", new { id = order.OrderID }); } catch (Exception e) { return View(order); // Inserted while debugging } } The second call to UpdateModel has a ValueProvider suffix which matches the auto-generated HTML input name prefixes that MVC2 has generated for the foreign key collection of OrderItems within the View. The call to SaveChanges() on the database context after updating the OrderItems collection of an Order using UpdateModel generates the following exception: "The operation failed: The relationship could not be changed because one or more of the foreign-key properties is non-nullable. When a change is made to a relationship, the related foreign-key property is set to a null value. If the foreign-key does not support null values, a new relationship must be defined, the foreign-key property must be assigned another non-null value, or the unrelated object must be deleted." When debugging through this code, I can still see that the EntityKeys are not null and seem to be the same value as they should be. This still happens when you are not changing any of the extracted Order details from the database. Also the entity connection to the database doesn't change between the act of Getting and the SaveChanges so it doesn't appear to be a Context issue either. Any ideas what might be causing this problem? I know EF4 has done work on foreign key properties but can anyone shed any light on how to use EF4 and MVC2 to make things easy to update; rather than having to populate each property manually. I had hoped the simplicity of EditorFor and DisplayFor would also extend to Controllers updating data. Thanks

  • SQL Server deadlocks between select/update or multiple selects

    All of the documentation on SQL Server deadlocks talks about the scenario in which operation 1 locks resource A then attempts to access resource B and operation 2 locks resource B and attempts to access resource A. However, I quite often see deadlocks between a select and an update or even between multiple selects in some of our busy applications. I find some of the finer points of the deadlock trace output pretty impenetrable but I would really just like to understand what can cause a deadlock between two single operations. Surely if a select has a read lock the update should just wait before obtaining an exclusive lock and vice versa? This is happening on SQL Server 2005 not that I think this makes a difference.

In the ASPX page, I have an instance of this usercontrol: <uc1:DropDownCalendar ID="dtmDateFirstEntry" runat="server" Required="True" /> In my code behind, I want to detect when a user has tabbed off of the textbox and, using an UpdatePanel, referesh an appropriate message depending on the date that was specified. Elsewhere in the ASPX page I have this: <asp:UpdatePanel ID="upIntendedStay" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Label ID="Label4" runat="server" Text="Update this text from server" CssClass="ErrorText"></asp:Label> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> Here's what I do in the code behind: If Not Me.IsPostBack Then dtmDateFirstEntry.TextBox.AutoPostBack = True Dim trigger As New AsyncPostBackTrigger trigger.ControlID = dtmDateFirstEntry.TextBox.ClientID trigger.EventName = "onChange" upIntendedStay.Triggers.Add(trigger) End If When the page runs and I view the source, I see something like this: <input id="ctl00_phPageContent_dtmDateFirstEntry_txtDate" class="DefaultTextBox" name="ctl00$phPageContent$dtmDateFirstEntry$txtDate" onchange="javascript:setTimeout('__doPostBack(\'ctl00$phPageContent$dtmDateFirstEntry$txtDate\',\'\')', 0)" onkeypress="if (WebForm_TextBoxKeyHandler(event) == false) return false;" style="width: 112px;" type="text" value="Mar-29-2010" /> <input id="ctl00_phPageContent_dtmDateFirstEntry_imgDate" name="ctl00$phPageContent$dtmDateFirstEntry$imgDate" src="images/calendar.JPG" style="border-width: 0px;" type="image" />&nbsp; When I run it, I get this error: A control with ID 'ctl00_phPageContent_dtmDateFirstEntry_txtDate' could not be found for the trigger in UpdatePanel 'upIntendedStay'. I didn't think that the trigger control had to be within the UpdatePanel. I thought that was the whole point of adding the trigger. How do I refresh this update panel changes to the text in the date usercontrol. Next I will have to add other triggers to trigger the refreshing of the Update Panel from other controls scattered across the page, so clearly all of the trigger sources cannot be within the UpdatePanel.

  • Using a Case statement within the values section of an Insert statement

    Please forgive my ignorance and poor SQL programming skills but I am normally a basic SQL developer. I need to create a trigger off the insertion of data in one table to insert different data into another table. Within this trigger I need to insert certain data into the new table based upon values within the newly inserted data from the original table. I am totally confused on this. i thought I would be creative and use a case statement within teh Values section but it is not working. Can anyone please help me on this?   • Problem updating BLOB with Hibernate?

    hi, i am having problem updating a blob with hibernate. (i am using Hiberante 3.3.1-GA) my model have these getters/setters for hibernate, i.e. internally i deal with byte[] so any getter/setter convert the byte[] to blog. I can create an initial object without problem, but if I try to change the content of the blob, the database column is not updated.     I have a PHP script on my server that I want to run every time I post a new tweet to Twitter. Is there a way to automate this? I could of course set up a cron job to run the script every five minutes, or run the script manually every time after tweeting, but neither of those is instant — and that’s exactly what I’m looking for. Is it possible to use the Twitter API to run a script / get a URL every time my timeline is updated?

  • AJAX Partial page update problem when displaying a control

    Hello! I have an interesting problem when using partial page update in asp.net with scriptmanager and a update panel. My scenario looks like this: I'm using the tab control from the ajax toolkit. I also implemented this control using lazy loading, so that when the page is loaded only the current tab gets loaded all the other tabs don't get rendered, because Im using an UpdatePanel (on a .ascx control) on each of these tabs and when a tab gets selected the updatepanel makes a async postback to load the content for a selected tab. On one of my tabs Im using a combobox control from obout.com, and it doesn't work. Now I know why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because the control is shown via a partial page refresh, but to correctly display the control it has to do some "magic" that is - register some .css and .js includes on the page (in the head I guess)....but because I load this control via async page refresh...it can't do these stuff. What kind of workarround do you suggest? Thanks!

  • Best way to find updates in xml feed

    Hello all, I have an xml feed that I have to check periodically for updates. The xml consists of many elements and I'm looking to figure it out which is the best (and probably faster) way to find out which elements suffered updates from last time I've checked. What I think of is to check first the lastBuildDate for modifications and if it differs from the previous one to start parse the xml again. This would involve keeping each element with all of its attributes in my database. But each element can have different number of attributes as well as other nested elements. So if it would be to store each element in my database what would be the best way to keep them ? That's why I'm asking for your help :) Thank you.

  • Fastest way to do mass update

    Let’s say you have a table with about 5 million records and a nvarchar(max) column populated with large text data. You want to set this column to NULL if SomeOtherColumn = 1 in fastest possible way. The brute force UPDATE does not work very well here because it will create large implicit transaction and take forever. Doing updates in small batches of 50K records at a time works but it’s still taking 47 hrs to complete on beefy 32 core/64GB server. Is there any way to do this update faster? Are there any magic query hints/table options that scarifies something else (like concurrency) in exchange of speed? NOTE: Creating temp table or temp column is not an option because this nvarchar(max) column involves lots of data and so consumes lots of space!

Then I try to update a label in the detailViewController by doing this: master.detailViewController.myLabel.text = "someText"; But this doesn't work. (ignore the missing at sign in front of the "someText" - I have it, but it seems it's not allowed to put it in this forum.) So how is the right way to access the outlets of in the detailView?
