• Exception in Google App Engine (Java) while trying to create Memcache Object

  I am coming back to an old Google App Engine project on which I saw a bug. During this lag, I have been upgrading my AppEngine SDK and is now set at 1.3. When I try to run the same project again, I see the following exception: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.google.apphosting.api.ApiProxy$Environment.getDefaultNamespace()Ljava/lang/String; at com.google.appengine.api.NamespaceManager.get(NamespaceManager.java:56) at com.google.appengine.api.memcache.MemcacheServiceImpl.setNamespace(MemcacheServiceImpl.java:181) at com.google.appengine.api.memcache.MemcacheServiceImpl.(MemcacheServiceImpl.java:145) at com.google.appengine.api.memcache.MemcacheServiceFactory.getMemcacheService(MemcacheServiceFactory.java:25) The line causing the problem is: CacheManager.getInstance().getCacheFactory().createCache(Collections.emptyMap()); (It is the same line as suggested by the AppEngine documentation to create a memcache object.   I have the following code in some app: int lowRange=50; int[] ageRangeIndividual = {6, 10, 18, 25, 45, 65, 90}; int index=0; for (; index<ageRangeIndividual.length-1 && ageRangeIndividual[index]<=lowRange;index++); I am getting an "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 7" in the for line! even though I explicitly specify to break the cycle if index < last indexable item in the array! This does not happen always, but after some time of running said program (lowRange varies each time the function is called) What am I not seeing?

The table will hold 80 questions each with 4 possible options plus the correct answer. When retrieving the questions and options from the database I will randomly select 25 questions and their options. Is it better to make a single column for all questions, options, and correct answers?   I have a really long php script for just 1 page i.e. something like: mywebsite.com/page.php?id=99999 I have about 10000-20000 cases of the id, each with a different settings. Will this slow down my website significantly? i.e. my question is really along the lines of, what happens when php is executed. does the server execute it and display the results, or does the client's computer download it, execute it and display the results. if its the latter, does it mean a really slow load time? each of the 10000-20000 cases has about 20-25 lines of code after it. thanks, xoxo

• Testing IPhone code on Windows

  I'm picking up a new Dell laptop. My primary machine is a IMac. I will most likely have to write some IPhone projects for someone in the future. While I do most of my work on the IMac there would be maybe 25% of the time where I work from my laptop. Can anyone tell me if I use objective C / IPhone SDK's if there is a generic objective C compiler I can use to see if my code would in theroy work? Not looking to do hackintosh or anything like that. My other option is to just get a discounted mac mini (Think this is most likely) as well as the Dell. Thanks for any advice

I can get the values in when I construct the SQL statement word by word and get each value individually stated in the VALUES part but when I try to get the list as a whole it does not work. • Virus that duplicates word documents as exe

  Hi, We are facing a virus problem on our network, but I'm unable to identify it, so we can't properly deal with it. The symptoms are that the virus duplicates a word document (.doc) generating a new archive with the same name, but with an exe extension, and, after that, the virus hides the original file. So, when the user clicks over the file, it propagates itself. Symantec AV seems to be able to block it: every time that the virus tries to generate the exe, symantec blocks it, but at this point, the original file was already converted to hidden, so the user thinks that the file has been deleted. Symantec identifies it as a simple trojan horse. I already started a full scan, but it didn't found nothing. I'm trying to know the virus name in order to fight it. Does anyone has any kind of information? TIA, Bob

• Is MS Forefront Add-in for Exchange server detecting HTML/Redirector.C incorrectly?

  Users of a website hosted by our organization occasionally send complaints that our registration confirmation emails are infected with HTML/Redirector.C. They are always using an MS Exchange Server with the MS Forefront for Exchange AV add-in. The thing is, I don't think the detection is legitimate. I think the issue is that the link in the email we send causes a redirect. I should point out that this is done for a legitimate purpose. :) Has anybody run into this before? Naturally, Microsoft provides absolutely no good information on this one: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Trojan%3aHTML%2fRedirector.C&ThreatID=-2147358338 I can't find any other explanation of HTML/Redirector.C on the Internet either. • Internet Explorer 9 takes a long time to load websites

  IE9 on Windows 7 would load Google okay, and we could search on Google okay, but almost any other website would take an inordinate amount of time to load. The loading sprite would sit there indefinitely. I uninstalled IE9 to roll back to IE8, and the same issue occurs. We've reset IE settings back to defaults, and there are no add-ons causing this. Firefox loads websites fine on this computer. Could it be an IE-specific virus/trojan? IE was displaying an incorrect/hijacked home page.

  Has anyone here ever used kon-boot? I guess it may work because of the few blog posts about it but I feel kinda concerned and am interested at hearing experiences from anyone who have used multiple times with no side effects. I am slightly worried for any direct memory altering it tries to do. I am also worried if this will do its job fine to hide the fact it puts in a low level trojan or if the author planned to do anything like that in a future release as it looks like closed source from the site. Also I don't intend to gain illegal access but I find these sort of things very useful for my box of live discs I take every where, just in case. • How do companies know they've been hacked?

  With the news of Google and others getting hacked, I was wondering how companies find out, detect, and/or know they've been hacked in the first place? Sure, if they find a virus/trojan on user's computers or see a very high access rate to parts of their system that don't usually see much, if any, traffic. But, from what I've see in articles, the attack was pretty 'sophisticated', so I wouldn't imagine the hackers would make it so obvious of their hacking in the first place. Maybe someone can enlighten me on current detection schemes/heuristics. Thanks.

• XAMPP localhost and 127.0.0.1 don't work but computer name does work

  I am running on a vista. Localhost and 127.0.0.1 do not work anymore but my computer name still works. Localhost and 127.0.0.1 only show a blank page however using my computer name can access xampp homepage as well as my server files. I am assuming there is something wrong with my hosts file but when i checked it looks fine: 127.0.0.1 localhost is the only thing in there that is not commented out, which seems right according to what I've seen on the web so far. I had a trojan recently that I got rid of so I believe that definitely has something to do with it. It was msa.exe among potentially others but I think I got rid of it with Malwarebytes. This is the only issue that is left. Thanks!

• Best way to reformat/recover in Windows when your CD key is no longer valid?

  I have a copy of Windows 7 Professional that I have downloaded from the MSDN e-academy (thanks to my school). Now, the problem is that these license keys are one-use only. If I need to reformat or do a factory reset, what is the best way for me to do so, without invalidating my license and screwing me out of an operating system? Edit: I would also like to know some information on the "restore to factory settings" option in Windows 7 recovery center. Does it do exactly as the name implies and starts you off as if you had just done a fresh install? If I had some kind of nasty trojan or virus, would it be able to survive through the factory reset? The recovery center also has an option for reformatting, though I don't think that it's an actual format - it just backs up your stuff into a Windows.old folder or something like that. Does that require a valid license key?

• How do I connect a laptop running Windows 7 to an Android phone using WiFi Direct?

  From where I am sitting, Windows 7 does not appear to support WiFi Direct connections to Android mobile devices. Specifically, turning on WiFi Direct on my Samsung Galaxy S II does not make the device visible as a potential WiFi network connection. Windows 8 is said to support WiFi Direct, but I have no desire to upgrade at this time. I have successfully set up ad hoc WiFi connections between the S II and my laptop before, but as you may be aware, these are not the same as WiFi Direct. Before posting this question, I searched [ "Windows 7" "WiFi Direct" ] and variations thereof, and dutifully slogged through dozens of lame or irrelevant responses on various forums, badly made YouTube videos, and probable Trojan horse distribution sites. If someone out there knows how to do this, it's buried in the noise.

  I've looked into the FAT file system, trying to find a way to make a directory hidden from view of the user. This has been done with malware previously, so it should be possible. The SpyEye trojan hid inside a directory C:\cleansweep.exe\ which was only reachable through the command line. I know deletion is possible by substituting the first character of the directory in the FAT table with 0xE5, but then it will not be accessible. Any ideas on how the scenario from SpyEye can be recreated? Any filesystem is interesting, but ideally FAT or NTFS.

• Problem with Win7 connecting to Internet

  Hello, I have had Windows 7 for about a year now and for the first four months it worked perfectly. But for the last 8 months it has been horrible. It will connect to the Internet for about 5 minutes and then just lose connection. It will reconnect in about 5 minues but then it just keeps disconnecting. I ran a virus scan about 2 weeks ago and I found a Trojan on my PC which I removed and dealt with. It was fine after that but now for these last couple days it has been just as bad as before. I think a virus is causing this but I will read any suggestions and tips to help me solve this problem. Thank you.
