  I'm trying to make (1) special key open new terminal window. I bound it to file /Users/taw/bin/new_term, which contains: #!/bin/sh exec osascript -e 'tell application "Terminal" to do script "cd ."' This does the trick, except it also opens a Terminal window with this (even though Terminal.app is configured to always close windows when processes finish): Last login: Thu Mar 11 19:41:29 on ttys000 /Users/taw/bin/new_term ; exit; ~$ /Users/taw/bin/new_term ; exit; tab 1 logout [Process completed] How do I make it all work correctly? • Running a command line app with sudo and password automatically on OS X startup

  I need to run an app at startup/login on my mac. I want it to launch in the background and start doing it's work without interrupting me or me having to start it up because I invariably forget and then when I need it, it wasn't running! I have tried using AppleScript to tell Terminal to run it and type my password in, but it ends up opening multiple Terminal windows and not working. Ideally I need a script that I can just add to the user login items and it will run for me. The app has no way of taking a password argument either and it has a password as well as the sudo! I need a solution that can either be done as an applescript (which can be made into an executable) or i need a commandline script but I have no idea about them. This is the manual code I type $ sudo serverStatus password:123456 password:serverpass My AppleScript: tell application Terminal activate do shell script "sudo serverStatus" delay 5 do shell script "123456" delay 2 do shell script "serverpass" end tell

• Stop application windows hiding when app loses focus

  How can I stop windows on my mac (Mac OS Snow Leopard) from hiding when the app that owns the window loses focus. Not all apps on the mac do this, but Photoshop and Transmission are perfect examples of apps that exhibit this behaviour. It's frustrating when you want to type notes in another app (e.g. word processor), but refer to the contents of the window that hides when you focus the word processor to start typing your notes! There must be an option (or hack) to disable this? I always thought Apple were supposed to be the masters of UI design, but allowing apps to do this seems wrong.

• Cannot navigate Microsoft store after app install / update

  Every time i go to the store and install a new app or update an existing one, I go back to the main screen of Store after a few screen refreshes. And then oddly, scrolling doesn't work and neither do the buttons, although the Tiles are fine. I then have to close the app and then re-open it and things are back to normal. I don't know if this is a weird bug or just the way it is. Could anyone please confirm and / or give a possible explanation?

• Can I remotely monitor printf results of a C program?

  I have a long running C program in which I've started from the Terminal.app using: gdb program_name gdb run I'm using many printf statements to monitor the progress of the program. Unfortunately, the screen of the computer has been frozen since yesterday, but the process is still running. My question is, can I watch the progress of the program (i.e. the results of the printf statements) remotely? I'm not that familiar with the terminal, but I know how to ssh and do some simple terminal tasks. The OS of the machine with the frozen screen is Mac OS 10.6.

  I have a uWSGI setup where I run dynamic mode and add applications to it. All applications are working off the same codebase, but each have their own settings file. Its working beautifully. Say for instance, i want to change a setting for one app that has already been loaded. Is there a way I can get uwsgi to reload the app, rather than restarting the whole uwsgi server? In emperor mode I could just touch the config file. How do I achieve the equivalent result in dynamic mode?

• Outlook 2007 inbox message grouping like the Web App

  The Outlook Web App has this nice, default, conversation grouping. It hides all earlier messages in a conversation from the message list. When I click a mail, it shows the conversation thread in the reading pane. In Outlook 2007 I have tried grouping on received date, but it groups by minutes and not days. I've also tried grouping by conversation, but then I get this ugly tree in the list pane and I loose the "today", "yesterday", and vice versa groups. So how do I make Outlook 2007 look like the Outlook Web App? Illustration

  I am running an nginx web server where I redirect all http requests to https (with a self signed cert). Here is how I REDIRECT all http requests to https in the nginx config file: server { listen 80 default_server; listen [::]:80 default_server ipv6only=on; server_name my.server.ip; return 301 https://$server_name$request_uri; Problem is - I cannot seem to do so for an app running on a port. Example: http://my.server.ip:1234 does not redirect to https://my.server.ip:1234 ir works fine on all other urls like http://my.server.ip/temp etc. How can I modify the nginx config file to force that app url through ssl?

• Cannot access to my app's dashboard (iTunes Connect)

  Since more than a week I can't access to my app's admin page on iTunes Connect. I'am able to connect me to iTunes Connect and to access the "manage my Apps" section but when I select a specific app I get the following message: Unable to Process Request Your request could not be processed. For additional help, send an email to [email protected] I have deleted cookies and data navigation in Safari, tried with chrome and fierfox: nothing. • iPhone and Mac Twitter App Not Parsing HTML in Feeds

  I've come across this problem where my tweets on the iPhone and Mac Twitter app are not parsing the HTML properly. In any browser, the HTML is parsed fine. It only happens to the apostrophe character (') and on the iPhone and Mac Twitter app. Also, I'm using the dlvr.it service to push my Drupal blog posts to my Twitter feed. My initial guess was that it was the RSS generated by Drupal, but if that were the case, then the feed displayed on the browser would be affected too. Any ideas anyone? Any help would be very much appreciated. P.S: I apologize beforehand if this question already exists. I did search for it but based on what I queried, nothing came up.

  I would like to restrict access to a file until the user has paid for it. This is easy enough if I served the file via a web app, but it seems more efficient to have httpd serve the file. Is there a way to get apache to ask a web app if it can serve a file before serving it? As I'm typing this it seems like it should be trivial but I'm not coming up with a good answer via google.   Hello, I did some googling but was unsuccessful, so I am posting here. I am looking to get an app (preferably free/open source) to monitor my servers on port 80 that would send me an email/text when some predefined timeout triggers. I could probably write something in VB to do this but i am burried with projects, why reinvent the wheel. I know there are services out there that want you to pay $5/month to do so, I was thinking about a Windows app that would sit on my computer and simply monitor predefined list of IPs on port 80. • Use ini/appconfig file or sql server file to store user config?

  I know that the preference for INI or appconfig XML is their human readability. Let's say user preferences stored for my app are hierarchical and numbers about a thousand items and it would be really confusing for a user to edit an INI to change things anyway. I have always been using a combination of INI with appconfig. I am leaning towards using sql server db file, now. Every time the user changes a preference while using the app, it would be stored into the db file - that's my line of thought. I am also thinking that such a config db file could move around with the app too, just like an INI. Before I do that, any advice 1. If there are any disadvantages against using a db file over INI or appconfig. 2. If a shop uses mysql or oracle, do you think your colleagues would lift up their pro-mysql or pro-oracle eyebrow questioning why you would use sql server technology in a mysql or oracle shop? I mean, I am just using it like an INI file or app.config anyway, right?

I open my iPhone app in my iPhone device and i work on the app I Lock my iPhone device and I try to unlock the phone from sleep mode When the unlock is successful, I see a white light of size 3 to 4 pixels in the center of the screen and from that point the app resumes. What would be the reason for this error, kindly help.

• Configuring ASMX Web Service End Points - web.config

  I have set up references to 2 web services in a separate assembly TestProj.Core. I reference this Project in a Web Application Project called TestProj.Web. When I setup the references in TestProj.Core the wizard gave me an app.config and through an application settings section into it. How do I get these settings to my web app? Copy and paste these into web.config? "Always Copy" the app.config out to the bin directory? Any good articles on mutiple configs?
