• MacPorts: violation of the ports-filesystem hierarchy in the destroot phase

  I'm in the process of developing a Portfile for my application and I'm running into problems during the destroot phase. According to the MacPorts guide, the destroot phase executes the following command: make install DESTDIR=${destroot} I think I may be misunderstanding how this is supposed to work in the Makefile. My application is very simple and the install rule only needs to copy a couple of directories to the DESTDIR so it is specified as follows: install: cp -R bin $(DESTDIR)/bin cp -R lib $(DESTDIR)/lib cp -R cfg $(DESTDIR)/cfg However, when I try to do a MacPort installation of my application, I get the following warnings: ---> Staging test into destroot Warning: violation by /bin Warning: violation by /lib Warning: violation by /cfg Warning: test violates the layout of the ports-filesystems! How do I fix this? Am I misunderstanding how the DESTDIR variable is used in the install rule or missing something altogether?

  Hi, When I generate Javadoc for my android project in eclipse, there are lots of warnings like cannot find symbol symbol : class TextView and warning - Tag @see: reference not found: android.app.Dialog I also tried -link http://developer.android.com/reference/ -link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/ in Extra javadoc options tab in Configure Javadoc Arguments dialog of eclipse-Export Javadoc. But only -link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/ is working i.e for String class link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/lang/String.html?is-external=true is generated. but for android.app.Dialog , no link is generated. Please help !!

• headers already sent displays after moving files from one server to another

  hey there! I have a project running on dreamhost hosting and it's working fine, but since DH has been getting really slow I'm moving the project to my new dedicated server. The thing is that after I move all of my file over to the new dedicated (ubuntu 8.4) I get see warnings all over the place telling me that the headers had been already sent. The first thing I tried was moving the files via FTP: download to my machine, upload to server - Didn't worked Second try was tar.gz the folder on the first server and untar it on the new one, didn't worked either I tried chaing enconding to ANSI and they start working, however most of my files contain accents so ANSI is not an option for all my files i need UTF8 Any ideas on how to fix this? I'm sure it must be some sort of config

• What is the '@(' doing in this Perl code?

  In this code snippet: use strict; use warnings; use Data::Dumper; my $r = [qw(testing this thing)]; print Dumper($r); foreach my $row (@({$r}) { print "$row\n"; $row .= 'mod'; } print Dumper($r); print Dumper(@({$r}); I figured out that the '(' after the '@' in the foreach is causing this not to loop correctly. I have no idea why this code even works as there is no ending parenthesis. What is this doing? It looks to be creating a new variable on the fly, but shouldn't 'use strict' have fired or something? Please help explain what that '@(' is doing and why it still runs without an ending parenthesis.

• Crystal Reports Formula Workshop boolean condition to string

  I'm currently trying to create a report using Crystal Reports that comes with Visual Studio 2008. I would like to include a field of type boolean on my report that shows a string rather than true or false. The string should contain either contain a € or a % sign. How would I go about doing this in the Formula Workshop? I've tried things like e.g. if {tblAankoopDetails.SoortKorting} = true then "€" else "%" However this never seems to work and results in warnings such as "The formula result must be a number". This should be fairly simple but this is my first go at using Crystal Reports. Help would be much appreciated. Jay

• Prevent Erroneous Property Assignment

  Porting android applications to iphone applications always gives me the following pattern that I accidentally create: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = property; } Which instead should be: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = prop; } This always causes my program to quietly break because property gets reset to its existing value rather than being set to the new value, 'prop'. I cannot name the parameter 'prop' to 'property' since the compile complains that the parameter masks the instance variables visibility. Is there a good way to avoid this situation? There are no compiler warnings. Is there a way to make xcode prevent this? I cannot see very many situations where you would set a property to the value of its underlying instance variable (maybe to trigger a KVO binding?), but I don't see myself doing that in majority of cases. I understand the above code is synthetic and should be done with @synthesize, but I am just using it as a simplified example to illustrate my point.

• How do I fix this warning in my mx:request tag?

  I'm running an HTTPService with the following request: <mx:request xmlns=""> <view>{myViewStack.selectedChild.name}</view> </mx:request> The idea being to pass which child is selected on the viewstack to the php page, and then get that back so I can run some logic based on which child of the viewstack was selected at the time. Everything seems to work, but I get the following warning: Data binding will not be able to detect assignments to "name". This doesn't seem to be causing any trouble, but I know warnings usually mean that I am not following the best practice. How can I fix this? I don't really need this item to be bound, because the name will never change at runtime, but I don't know how else to include it in the request.

  I have a function acting as a constructor that, when called, gets as far as the function definition in the debugger, but never to the function body. Is there a common reason this may happen that I am overlooking?   As per this question, I understand that core.autocrlf=true in git will cause CRLF to LF translations. However when I type : git config core.autocrlf I see: false However, when I stage modified files that are already in the repo, I still get these warnings: Warning: CRLF will be replaced by LF in File1.X. The file will have its original line endings in your working directory. My guess is that the repo copy of the file is already set to "autocrlf=true". Questions: A. How do I query whether a file or git repo is already forcing AutoCrlf? B. How do I turn it autocrlf off?

• Warning on standard headers after upgrading to NetBeans 6.8...

  After upgrading to NetBeans 6.8 on my Mac, some standard headers generate a warning. The warning is "There are unresolved includes inside <string>". <string> is just an example and <iostream> and <map> have the same warning. The project builds and runs fine; however, I would like to resolve these warnings. Has anybody else seen this problem? And is there any way to make that warning go away? I also didn't see this problem when I upgraded to 6.8 on Linux.

  I am trying to write a PHP-MySQL database processor that is somewhat intelligent. When this processor decides it needs to make an update, I want to report if it was really successful or not. I thought I could use mysql_affected_rows... // Example: // After running query "UPDATE mytable SET name='Test' WHERE ID=1" $result = mysql_affected_rows(); if ($result >= 1) { /* Success */ } If, for example, there was no row with ID=1, then $result would be 0. However, it turns out that PHP's mysql_affected_rows is the actual affected rows, and may be still be 0 if the row exists but name was already "Test". (The PHP docs even say this is the case). If I run this in the command line, I get the following meta information about the query: Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.01 sec) Rows matched: 1 Changed: 0 Warnings: 0 Is there any way for me to get that "Rows matched" value in PHP instead of the affected rows?

I open my app. I tap one of my items in table view, then DetailViewController that has only text field does not display anything it is empty. But when I go back to table view then tap any other item again , at this time it displays value what I wanted to display.. It does it for my only first tap.. I have no errors and warnings.. • Using an ActiveX object from an Outlook hosted webpage - possible?

  I'm trying to do the following: We have an outlook plugin, written in .NET (and C++). It does various things, and is manually installed on the end users machines (usually via AD deployment or similar) We are changing our search to use a webpage-based search, but from within outlook. That part is ok, however we want to communicate from the webpage to the surrounding outlook application. We can call into outlook by exposing an ActiveX object from our plugin, however we get security warnings, even if it's signed and marked as safe for scripting. Is this even possible? Has anyone done it? Anyone have a better way of doing it? We only need to pass in a small amount of data (a message id), and only from the webpage to outlook [update]: This is the error: automation server can't create object. We can get around it a bit by turning things off in IE, but thats not a good way to do it! Thanks

• App Crashes on Opening - PROBLEM

  I have an app that keeps crashing as soon as it starts. Not sure why. I have image views and buttons in the main xib file. The main xib file is not mainwindow, it is firstview, so i changed it in the plist to the firstview. There may be something wrong with the xib file for firstview but it only has buttons and images and a view in the back. There are no warnings or errors when I run it, just Debugging Terminated when it crashes. PLEASE HELP

• PyQt4.QtCore doesn't contain many of its classes and attributes

  Hi everyone, I have built PyQt4 from source and everything went smoothly until I tried to use some of the classes and attributes located in QtCore. For some reason QtCore is missing a lot of functionality and data that should be there. For example from PyQt4.QtCore import QT_VERSION_STR is an import error. There were no errors or warnings given when building the packages and I have also tried with the PyQt packages from yum but I have the same problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem before?   Does anyone know of an Eclipse plugin that can give me some stats about my behavior/usage of the Eclipse IDE? There are quite a few things I would like to know: How often/when do I invoke the "Build All" command (through Ctrl+B) How often does compilation fail/succeed (+ number of errors/warnings) How often do I hit Backspace? (I do that way to often; If pressing that key would give a nasty sound I would in time learn to type correctly in the first place) How many characters/lines of code that I typed do I delete (possibly quite immediately) How (effective/efficient/...) is my Mouse/Keyboard/IDE usage? (Kinda like measuring APM in StarCraft; this could be fun) If there is no such Eclipse plugin around, how complex and time consuming would It be to write a plugin that can accomplish the above?

• Display popup window for a CD.

  Got a CD with a bunch of tutorials etc. done in HTML. What I want is to have a browser window open with no toolbars, fixed width/height etc. because the content is designed to fit nicely into such a window. You can do this with window.open and put a bunch of parameters in, but this triggers popup blockers and activex warnings. Also it looks kinda bad, as the original window doesn't close without a hack that also generates problems. Is there a nice way I can achieve this effect? I could perhaps compile an .exe to autorun on the CD to launch this, but I wouldn't know how to get an .exe to open a window with toolbars etc. turned off.
