  • Merge tabs from 2 session of IE8?

    Sometimes I wind up with two or more instances of IE8 running, and each instance has a few tabs open. Is there a way to merge all the tabs from all the IE8 instances into just one instance of IE8, and close all the other IE8 instances?

    I am trying to copy a database from one folder to another. There is no program at all running except operating system.(I mean all windows shut) I keep getting this : The action cannot be completed because the file is open is another program close file and try again Try again, Try again , Try again ......... what the hell on earth is holding that file and how can I carry on with copy / delete / overwrite files(DB) as this problem is something very common.   • MacBook Pro won't sleep when closing lid

    My one month old MacBook Pro suddenly does not sleep anymore when I close the lid. There might be a relation to the Caffeine program that I installed recently. Caffeine prevents a Mac from going into sleep. But I have the problem when Caffeine is not even running. What reasons could there be for this problem happening? I'm hoping its a software problem instead of some hardware failure.

    Does 7-Zip take advantage of multiprocessor or multi-core systems? For example, would there be a close to 16 times speed-up on a 16 core system assuming no disk or memory bottlenecks? Or is it is limited to 2 threads (2 times speed-up on systems with more than one CPU or core)?

    I'm trying to get MySQL to function as a backend for authenticating users on CentOS 6.3. So far I have successfully installed and configured libnss-mysql. I can test this by doing: # groups testuser testuser : sftp Testuser is a member of the sftp group in fact, all MySQL based useraccounts will be hardcoded to it. The sftp group is chrooted and forced to use internal-sftp so they cannot do anything but access their home directory. Then I configured pam-mysql and PAM to allow mysql logins. This also works.. When SELinux is not enforcing. When I do setenforce 1 users can no longer login. Error: Permission denied, please try again.     I like to use the default notes gadget in Windows Vista, and I want to synchronize my notes between my PC and my laptop. I'm going to use Dropbox, so I just need to know where does the gadget store my notes. I looked inside the Appdata folder and couldn't find the actual notes (only configuration files). Where are they? They have to be stored somewhere, since they are saved even if you close the sidebar.

  • Run Rails server on client's local machine for single tenancy [on hold]

    We are building a Rails application for a client that wants to run the app locally to be close to their data center for best performance. I had assumed we would use a standard web host. What requirements should we demand of the client's infrastructure..all I can think of so far is remote access for developers and a Linux machine? We don't have server admin expertise so would need to contract this, I doubt the client has the expertise. Does this sound like a recipe for disastor?!

  • Gedit opens on all workspaces?

    Im using Fedora 10 with XFCE. Every time I open Gedit, it opens a instance on every workspace. The circle icon on my window border is selected (meaning, enabled on all workspaces). When I disable it to appear on one workspace, then close and restart, Gedit opens normal (current workspace). Question is: How to keep this current configuration? If I restart my system, and start up Gedit, it appears on all workspaces again.

  • How do I make IE8 NOT delete temporary internet files?

    Every time I close Internet Explorer, all temporary files (including cookies) are deleted. IE has a setting for this (Tools Internet Options Advanced Security Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed) but the setting is turned off. I tried cycling it on and off again, with no luck. I can open the Temporary Internet Files folder and watch all the files vanish each time IE closes. How can I get the temporary files to stay where they belong?

  • Keep chrome extensions icons permanently ordered

    I like to have the extensions like Gmail Checker and Google Voice checker closest to my eyes, therefore closer to the url bar. I have tried disabling and enabling extensions to order them correctly, but once I close chrome, they appear in a different order (always the same undesirable "different" order). Is there a way to prevent them from rearranging themselves? Thanks

  • Windows Media Player - always show Current Time/Total Time

    I'm using Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7. When I open a video file then it by default only shows the current position (time). If I click on it once then it changes to format Current Time / Total Time Is there any way to make this format permanent (registry hack/some setting I have not noticed)? Right now every time I close WMP and open another file it's back to the default (only current time) setting.

    We've been hitting the max open files limit on a few services recently. There are also a bunch of other limits in place. Is there a way to monitor how close processes are to these limits so we can be alerted when it's time to either up the limits or fix the root cause? On the same note, is it possible to view a log of these events so we know when a crash occurs it's because of hitting one of these limits?

  • keepass not working with wine

    I installed Keepass 1.16 in my thumbdrive, which reportedly works with wine (as per Keepass homepage), but after entering the master password it just hangs and shows the "The program keepass has encountered a serious problem and needs to close" screen. I got this error msg among the stack trace on the terminal: wine: Call from 0x7b844633 to unimplemented function bcrypt.dll.BCryptOpenAlgorithmProvider, aborting On windows, everything runs fine. I'm using wine-1.1.27 on ubuntu 9.04 Any thoughts?

  • What should I set so that VMware tools is running after a guest reboots or comes back from sleep?

    On my Ubuntu 10.04 Server guest VM running from VMware fusion, the VMware tools doesn't seem to be running after a reboot or my computer comes back from stand-by or sleep(when I close my MacBook lid): $ /etc/init.d/vmware-tools status vmware-guestd is not running I did try running it as a service but the tools would still not run after coming back from stand by: sudo service vmware-tools start Any ideas what I should do to make the tools run all the time? My Ubuntu Server can only be accessed from the CLI, I won't be able to try any GUI solution.

I have applied a Group Policy to clean temporary internet files on exit i.e to delete all temporary internet files when users close the browser. But the group policy doesn't seem to work as user profile size keeps on increasing and the major space is occupied by temporary internet files therefore increasing the disk usage. How can i enforce automatic deletion of temporary internet files?

  • Windows 8 Fails to resume from sleep

    I have this weird issue. When I put the computer to sleep by pressing the power button, or using the sleep option in Charms, I can wake it up normally. However, if I close the lid, and later reopen it, all the fans come on, but nothing appears on the screen. I didn't have this issue using Windows 7.   • KeePass: use a key file or a regular password?

    I'm setting up a KeePass database and it offers the ability to use a key file, which it says is more secure because it can use a longer and more complex password but is easier to break because you only need the key file to open the database. I'll only be using the key file on 2 computers (one desktop and one laptop), wo which is the best option? Note that it's definitely more appealing to use the key file for me because i have a hard time remembering anything close to a random password.

    Dear ladies and sirs. I have a need to create a self signed certificate non interactively. Unfortunately, the only tool that I know of (makecert) is interactive - it uses GUI to ask for a password. My OS is Windows (from XP to 2008). The only thing close that I managed to find is http://www.codeproject.com/Tips/125982/How-to-run-Makecert-without-password-window.aspx, however, it is still not good. Any ideas?
