  • Applying css media=print not working with MasterPages after pagebreaks

    Hi, I´m using a css media=print file in a Page that is using a MasterPage. I put some pagebreaks like this in certain parts of the html code: <h1 style="page-break-before: always; height: 0px; line-height: 0px;"> This works perfectly in the first page, meaning that the styles are applied correctly, but after the pagebreaks, the css is not working any more. Looking somewhere, the advice was to delete the masterpage, and yeah, it worked, but it is not the best thing to do, ´cause I have to remember changing this page if the masterpage changes. Anyone knows another way to solve this problem using MasterPages?

  • Firefox 17 and CSS borders based triangles = crap

    Like many front-end devs, I've been using the border trick to render triangles in CSS. http://apps.eky.hk/css-triangle-generator/ this generator helps with the technique. Today, like every week (almost), the Firefox team released a new version without any clear changelog on the rendering engine. Now we can see an ungraceful gray border around those triangles. I haven't found a trick to get rid of it yet. On top of that, before Firefox 17, when people were complaining about how aliased those triangles looked, an additional trick was to set the border-style property to "dashed" instead of solid. Using firebug on the triangle generator, you can quickly see how it shows up now, and cry yourself to death. I hope a more brillant front-end dev than myself will find a fix for this and share it here. Thanks

    Hi, I'm a new poster in stackoverflow. The community seems really nice so I'll go ahead and post my question. I'm trying to style a asp.net MVC2 form so that instead of having all the fields on a strait line, I would like to have it like so: Label: Text field Label: Text field I know you could do that with a table but I would like to use CSS to accomplish that. I know a little bit about css but not enough to figure out what to do. The only thing I came close to was to but my fields as a unorder list then styling the li item. Thank you for your help!

The form display the data correctly and everything is fine what I want to do is to add styling to each field.   • IE Print CSS and spanning page breaks

    I've been working on trying to fix an issue with print CSS and IE where things would disappear when printing in landscape mode. It appears the issue is that the element I'm trying to print (a large DIV with content inside it) spans two pages when put into landscape mode. What is happening is when the element spans two pages, the first page is blank, and the second page is printing what would normally be left over from the first page. I think it's related to contained floats: wrapper div floated div1 floated div2 If I set the two nested divs to float: none in the print CSS file, then IE will print them, albeit not in the layout we'd like. Before I spend another hour on this, anyone know what, specifically, is the issue here and if there's a known workaround?

  • IE6/7 CSS Class Overriding

    I have a css file like: #SomeTable.hideAll .hide { display: none; } #SomeTable.showXYZ .show { display: block } When I add the class showCol to a td, the display overrides to block in chrome, FF, and IE8. But in IE6/7, the display stays none like it is not being overridden. Is there something odd you have to do in old IE's to do a css override like this? I suspect it has something to do with it either not being possible, or I just don't understand rules for determining an override.

  • Adding css class to jspDrag on scroll

    Today I implemented the horizontal jScrollPane script and the element I intended to scrolls like a charm. Via CSS I'm using an image for the jspDrag element. Now for my question; I see that there are a few css classes added to the jspDrag like jspHover and jspActive. Is it also possible to add css classes when I scroll to the left or right? I would like to do this, so I can change the image according to the scroll. (Hoping my question is clear, a reaction would be highly appreciated. Kind regards)

  • Chrome vs Safari - CSS the mystery pixel

    I have an issue of the mysterious pixel in CSS. Site in question: http://www.lymphcareri.com/about/ The idea is that under the menu is a line, which gets highlighted upon hover and blends in with the line under the header. However, Safari and Chrome both interpret the CSS different in such a way, that I cannot get those lines to line up in both browsers (no pun intended). It is either on the mark, or off. Chrome shaves off one pixel on the bottom margin of the nav link, making the line appear just above. Any idea why that is?

There is no div used, this is the css style body{ background-position:center; background-image:url(../images/images2.jpg) no-repeat; } The above CSS tiles all over and does centralize it, but half the image is not seen, it just kind of moves up.     I've been developing Ruby on Rails applications for some time, and have often found help to develop generate the templates of HTML with accompanying CSS. However, I'd like to make an attempt at doing this myself. Initial experiments leave me feeling like my process is really slow. I'm writing all my Rails code in VIM, which, with accompanying aliases to run the test suite, is pretty fast for me. However, the back-and-forth between browser/VIM to see new changes seems cumbersome - I'm guessing finding an editor with an embedded browser that constantly sees new changes is ideal for this (any suggestions?) So far I've experimented with Blueprint, which at the onset seems like it will save me a ton of time. However, what other tools have helped you do the PSD-HTML/CSS conversion as fast as you can?

  • Ensuring Updated CSS/JavaScript on Client Side

    I'm trying to ensure that visitors of my ASP.NET MVC website always have the most-current CSS and Javascript (and not some older cached version). I tried to realize this by generating a seed value when the application domain starts, and automatically append it to the CSS and Javascript URLs (so now instead of /Content/All.js the link is /Content/All.js?549238 etc.). Unfortunately I just found out by debugging via Firebug that this causes now a full download request every time (the new "seeded" response is no longer cached at all, but I only wanted the first check to download the 'updated' version, but then cache again/only check if there is a difference). How can I achieve my goal, is there a better way of doing this? I need the client to always request the newest version, but then cache if no change happened. Edit: This appears to be related to the fact that my page is served over SSL. I asked a follow up question here regarding enabling clientside caching with SSL.

    I'm currently writing some stylesheets for mobile browsers and have come across a strange issue in the Android browser. When changing the font-size CSS attribute of a text box the box gets bigger to accomodate the larger text. Doing this on a select box however does not change the size of the select box, but the text still gets larger (actually overlapping the top and bottom of the rendered form element). Can anyone tell me if it's possible to increase the height of select boxes in the Android browser. Or if not point me in the direction of a list of CSS attributes that can be applied to them.   • How to reduce the lag time when using jquery to modify css onload

    I have a jquery function that is called on $(document).ready that modifies the css of a Business Intelligence dashboard. I had to use jquery to make the adjustments because I do not have access to the source code of the BI tool. What happens is when the page loads, I run through the tab navigation and change the colors of the tabs based on certain requirements (which is basically dependent on the text of the tab). The issue I am facing is that there is a small lag time from when the page initially loads to when the jquery updates have been made to the page. Is there a way to reduce this lag time?
