• Reed-Solomon encoder for embedded application (memory-efficient)

  Hi I am looking for a very memory-efficient (like max. 500 bytes of memory for lookup tables etc.) implementation of a Reed-Solomon encoder for use in an embedded application? I am interested in coding blocks of 10 bytes with 5 bytes of parity. Speed is of little importance. Do you know any freely available implementations that I can use for this purpose?   I'm dynamically generating an imagemap for a chart tool I have. I was hoping to be able to set a border or color on the area tags so I could check everything was being generated with the right coords, but a little research shows this is not possible. So whats the easiest way to check my image map is correct? Are there any browser tools which will "visualise" the areas?

• Custom C# Compiler and MSDOS Window

  Hi All I've just got my own little custom c# compiler made, using the article from MSDN. But, when I create a new Windows Forms application using my sample compiler, the MSDOS window also appears, and if I close the DOS window, my WinForms app closes too. How can I tell the Compiler? not to show the MSDOS window at all? Thank you :)

• Tools to make CSS sprites?

  Are there any good tools to make css sprites? IDEALLY I'd want to give it a directory of images and an existing .css file that refers to those images and have it create a big image optimized with all the little images AND change my .css file to refer to those images. At the least I'd want it to take a directory of images and generate a big sprite and the .css necessary to use each as a background. Are there any good photoshop plugins or fully blown apps to do this?

• healthy DLL reference broken after compile multi-project solution

  Hi. I have a solution with multiple class libraries. When I compile each individual library (and the web site by itself) compilation always succeeds. But, when I compile the solution as a whole, one of the library references fails with a little yellow exclamation mark next to the failed library. I am guessing this has to do with the build order? Can somebody suggest what i have to do to resolve this? Thanks in advance.

• Voice transforming using OpenAL on iPhone

  Hi there, I've played a little bit with OpenAL, and I must say that it's pretty fast, even on the iPhone. However, I still got one problem. My app is recording the user voice, and repeats what he said using OpenAL. I've modified the AL_PITCH value, but it's currently also changing the speed, which I don't want to ! Is there a simple way to only change the tonality ? Thanks ;)

  I'm developing a website using the Django framework, and I need to retrieve Jabber (okay, Google Talk) statuses for a user. Most of the Jabber python libraries seem like an incredible amount of overkill (and overhead) for a simple task. Is there any simple way to do this? I know very little about XMPP/Jabber, though of course I'm willing to learn. Do you need to be an authenticated and "friended" user to retrieve another user's status?

• Clarification on recaptcha

  Um so I was in for a little bit of a surprise tonight. I spent a good 20 mins trying to figure out why I was able to submit a form knowing that what I entered into the recaptcha field was invalid. Is it true that you don't need to input the exact words it displays? If it shows me two words and I misspelled one of the words, I still pass validation? Same goes if "hello world" and I input "hell man" it still works.

In my php script I basically query the companies which are in industry "a" and then insert a row into a separate table with their details such as companyId , companyName etc is that a type of Relational database ? • Rmagick, Watermarks, and Image Transparency

  I'm having trouble making an image semi-transparent. I have one image I'd like to set to 50% opacity and position it over another image(using composite operator:OverCompositeOp). Anyone know how an easy way to do such a thing? A little background: I'm trying to make a good watermark to place over images, but I'm not fan of rmagick's built-in watermark() function or the shade-composite method.

• 'on the web' drupal module showing images on localhost but not remote host

  Hi, the simple little module titled 'on the web' for drupal shows social network links. It links to some images on the directory. on my localhost install they are showing but in the remote install the img tags aren't even appearing.   Hi, for a little project I have to do the following task on my IPhone: open a TCP socket send a command to the server shutdown the WRITE part of the connection read the response from the server close the connection I'm not experienced with socket programming - I've just started with network programming and I've already used the CFStream interface.   I'm building a widget, and I've been using iframes to present content within it. At some point, I might start serving third party HTML and JS, so I thought iframes would be a good idea. It does make the widget javascript a little more complicated, and I'm concerned that this might not be the best implementation. Do you have any advice? • want to remove a specific collectionview item with the remove button on that view

  I have a collection view item and its prototype view. Within that prototype view I have a little x button. I want that button to remove the exact collection view item that it is on top of. I can remove a selected item if I click on the space around the x button but if I go straight to clicking the button before clicking the item it will only erase the last selected item. ideas?

• Git on Windows: How do you set up a mergetool?

  I've tried msysGit and Git on Cygwin. Both work just fine in and of themselves and both run gitk and git-gui perfectly. Now how the heck do I configure a mergetool? (Vimdiff works on Cygwin, but preferrably I would like something a little more user-friendly for some of our more... Windows-loving coworkers.) Thanks!
