• Firefox radial gradient issue

  Trying to set radial gradient to the bg. The problem is, all other browsers shows gradient, on Firefox doesn't. What's wrong? • CSS 3 - Scaling CSS Transitions

  I am trying to scale an image when you mouseenter, which is working. I would like the image to gradually scale up with an ease transition. I used ease-in-out, which it's not working. Any suggestions? Also, I used addClass & removeClass twice in the jquery code. Is there a way to only use it once? • Animate opacity and delay transition CSS

  I have a series of DIVS, I want DIV 1 & DIV 3 to fade out and then DIV 2 and DIV 4 to slide left to take their place, 1 second after the fade. So far I have gotten them to fade out but I cannot figure out how to delay the sliding.   A few friends of mine and including me for the past few years have hosted an irc server on one of our dedicated servers. We use it for just personal reasons. We like the aspect of it that it allows private messages and chat rooms. Plus the ability to send/receive files and is cross platform (Linux/Mac/Windows/Mobile). Our domain is about to expire and we are looking to move onto something new. So we are looking for a chat client / server that offers the following: Chatroom (multiple people chatting together in the same box) File transfers Private messages Cross Platform (especially mobile ie: Blackberry and Android) We don't have to host it but that isn't out of the question Logging on the client side (we say a lot of crap and like to go back and quote said crap) SSL/TLS Some sort of encryption some of the stuff said/sent is of a sensitive nature ie: business nature

• Inheritance of list-style-type property in Firefox (bug in Firebug?)

  Let's have a look at some comments on a page generated by Wordpress (it's not a site I maintain, I'm just wondering what's going on here). As these pages might disappear in the near future, I've put some screenshots online. Here's what I saw: Obviously, the list-item markers shouldn't be there. So I decided to look at the source using Firebug. As you can see, Firebug claims that the list-style property (containing none) is inherited from ol.commentlist. But if that's the case, why are the circle and the square visible? When checking the computed style, Firebug shows the list-style-types correctly. What's the correct behaviour? I just did a quick check in Chromium, whose Web Inspector gave a better view of reality (the list item markers were also displayed in this browser): According to WebKit, list-style of ol.commentlist isn't inherited, only the default value of list-style-type from the rendering engine. So, we may conclude that the output of both browsers is correct and that Firefox (Firebug) shows an incorrect representation of inherited styles. What does the CSS specification say? Inheritance will transfer the list-style values from OL and UL elements to LI elements. This is the recommended way to specify list style information. Not much about the inheritance of ol properties to uls. Is Firebug wrong in this respect? BTW, I managed to let the markers disappear by just changing line 312 of style.css to ol.commentlist, li.commentlist, ul.children { When also explicitly defining the list-style of ul.children to none, the markers are not painted. You can have a look at screenshots of Firebug and WebKit's Web Inspector in this case, if you like.

• Mouse settings/properties dialog box won't open in Windows 7

  Hi, I have a problem trying to open my computer's mouse settings by either going to the command prompt and typing, 'control mouse', 'main.cpl' (as researched online) or simply by trying to go to the Control Panel and clicking on 'Mouse' under Hardware and Sound section. I have also tried running cmd as Administrator and trying the above commands but that is of no help. Lastly, if I search for 'mouse' and click 'Mouse' from the Windows search bar, that doesn't work either. In the past I had bought and installed Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 software and have just now bought and installed HP's Wireless Comfort Mobile mouse. Any help in this regard is highly recommended. I won't be able to restore or reinstall my laptop since it's a heavy use machine. Thanks! Yasser

  I want to disable the default contextMenu when a user right-clicks on an input field so that I can show a custom contextMenu.   I have adapted the example plugin of the android source and the browser recognises the plugin without any problem. As things look the service seems to be a dummy service. Having said that, is there another intent that can be executed at installation time probably? The only solution I see right now is installing the needed files from the native plugin code instead. Any ideas? I know this is quite a tricky question ;)

• 64 Bit Windows drivers for Inspiron 1720

  Dell doesn't seem to offer 64 bit drivers specifically for the Inspiron 1720 (laptop). I'm going to be upgrading from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64bit and I want to pull down the necessary stuff before hand. Are there any Dell systems that are similar enough to the Inspiron 1720 that I can use for a baseline to make sure I still have Ethernet and WiFi after the reinstall? It doesn't matter if they are for Vista 64 or Windows 7. • Unable to sync the Zune software with my HTC HD7

  I have a brand new HTC HD7 with Windows Phone 7, with no Software installed. I am running on Windows 7 64 bit. Whenever I try to sync my Mobile Device with Zune- I get this message: Can't connect to your phone. Disconnect it, restart it, then try connecting again I've downloaded latest Zune software and all updates. I don't have any certificates on my personal certificates. My phone is listed under Portable devices in Device manager (It shows as phone with driver version 4.7.965.0). I've restarted both my computer and the mobile device few times. • Is it a bad idea to make roaming profile share available offline?

  This is regarding a Windows 2008 R2 domain. The Documents, Desktop, Application Data folders are all redirected to users' home directory (mapped as Z:). The users home directory is configured to be offline for mobile users. User profiles are configured as roaming, and located on a separate share (not mapped as a network drive), just accessed via an UNC path. Would it be a good or idea to make the roaming profile share available offline for mobile users using the caching option "All files and programs that users open from the share will be automatically available offline"?

• Remove noise from a recording

  I used to record important technical meetings and demos using Camtasia Studio, using a Mic to capture the speaker voice. Sometimes we invite attendees by asking them to call us in the meeting, and they would call on a cell phone then we switch it to loudspeaker so we can hear and talk to them and also record the conversation on Camtasia. The problem I am having now is that playing back those recording produces the regular noise that results from the microphone being close to the mobile phone (the kind of noise you hear when your mobile phone rings and it is near a speaker). Any advice on removing this noise?

• Problem with internet connection

  Hi all, I am working on windows vista. I have got two internet connections, one is wifi connection with high speed. And other is mobile network connection. There is a very strange problem I am getting. When I connect to wi-fi connection I an not able to serf internet(actually not all the sites). I am able to search on Google but when i click on any link in the search list it does not open. But I am able to serf all the pages in google.com domain and also all the pages in stackoverflow domain. But i am not able to go to page http://repo1.maven.org/maven2 But When I am connected by my mobile network. I am able to serf any site. Can you please tell me what might me the problem with my settings.

• Determining when stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString has finished

  I have a UIWebView which loads up an HTML page. This page has two buttons on it, say Exit and Submit. I don't want users to be able to click the Exit button, so once the page has finished loading (ie. webViewDidFinishLoad is called), I use stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString to remove one of these buttons, by manipulating the HTML. I also disable user interaction on the UIWebView on webViewDidStartLoad, and enable it again on webViewDidFinishLoad. The problem I am finding is that stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString takes a second or two to complete, and it seems to be done in it's own thread. So what is happening is that webViewDidFinishLoad is called, user interaction is enabled on the UIWebView, and if the user is quick, they can click the Exit button before stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString has finished. As stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString seems to be on it's own thread with no way to know when it's finished (it doesnt call webViewDidFinishLoad), the only way to completely prevent users from tapping the Exit button that I can see is to only enable user interaction on the UIWebView after some delay, which is unreliable (how can I really know how long to delay for?). Am I correct in that stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString is done on it's on thread, and I have no way of being able to tell when it's finished? Any other suggestions for how to get around this problem? EDIT: In short, what I want to know is if it is possible to disable a UIWebView while stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString is executing, and re-enable the UIWebView when the javascript is finished. EDIT 2: There's an article here which seems to imply you can somehow poll the JS engine to see when it's finished, but I can't find any other references saying the same thing: http://drnicwilliams.com/2008/11/10/to-webkit-or-not-to-webkit-within-your-iphone-app/ EDIT 3 Based on the answer from Brad Smith, it seems that I actually need to know when the UIWebView has finished loading itself after the javascript has executed.   I am newbee with PHP and MySQL and need help... I have two tables (Staff and Position) in the database. The Staff table (StaffId, Name, PositionID (fk)). The Position table is populated with different positions (Manager, Supervisor, and so on). The two tables are linked with a PositionID foreign key in the Staff table. I have a staff registration form with textfields asking for the relevant attributes and a dynamically populated drop down list to choose the position. I need to insert the user's entry into the staff table along with the selected position. However, when inserting the data, I get the following error (Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails). How do I insert the position selected by the user into the staff table? • Can I run Linux on the HP Mini from Verizon Wireless, with a built-in 3G modem, and connect using the built in modem?

  I apologize if my question made little sense, I am very tired at the moment. Anyway, Recently I purchases the HP Mini from Verizon Wireless. It runs on the Intel Atom processor and came with Windows 7 Starter Edition, which is quite possibly the worst and most restrictive OS I have ever used. I plan on installing CRUX, after doing a little research on minimal, free, Linux operating systems, as I am working on web programming using Python, among other things. My only worry is that, because my HP Mini uses a built in wireless card (and I have no wifi connection, only a 3G connection) that has a "mobile access" connection to Verizon wireless, I am not sure if after installing CRUX that I would still be able to connect using this option. I have never used Linux before, and am hoping this will work. So if anybody has experience with this...please answer, can I connect to vzw 3G with linux, using an internal mobile access card...

  I'm working with push notifications in a mobile application, and I've been informed that a lot of our clients may be using SOCKS or HTTP proxies for outbound and inbound traffic. Is there anything in particular I need to program or document with regards to deploying our mobile app in this sort of environment? If you were setting up and installing the application server, what guarantees would you want from the person that had programmed it? Specifically regarding push notification services for all four major OSes (APNS, GCM, BPS and MPNS). I've got absolutely no experience with proxies or server deployment, in case you couldn't tell :)

• Automatically connect to 3G dialup connection

  I have a notebook with an internal 3G modem (a HUAWEI Mobile Connect) which appears to the system as a dialup modem. When I want to connect to the Internet, I need to open the charms bar, click settings, network, the modem and "connect" to open the dialup dialog on the desktop. When the connection is interrupted for some reason, I need to repeat these steps. Is there a way to configure Windows 8 to automatically (and preferably silently in the background) connect with this modem at system startup and automatically restore the connection should it get interrupted? As an operating system which is developed for mobile devices, I would expect it to be able to somehow be able to manage a always-on 3g connection.

• jquery delay a link from being followed

  I have a short css-based animation that I want to play out before a link is followed (a card that swooped in on page load swoops out after click). Currently, however, the page called loads too quickly. I want to be able to briefly delay the href from being followed. Here's what I've got: $(document).ready(function() { $("#card").css("top","0px"); $(".clickit").click(function() { $("#card").css("top","-500"); }); }); The first line swoops the card in on page load. After that is the click call that modifies the CSS, but like I said there needs to be some kind of delay in there because the page loads immediately, instead of after the animation. The CSS that is modified looks like this: #card { width: 400px; height: 500px; position: relative; top: -500px; -webkit-transition:all .5s; } (yes, I know this is webkit-only right now) This is a problem very similar to this question from 2008, but I know jQuery has been updated significantly since then, so I wanted to see if there was a more modern solution. • Where can I get a splitter to connect a device with a single 3.5 mm plug into the audio input/output jacks on my laptop?

  I recently bought the :Hype Retro Handset for Mobile Phone" -- its just a device that looks like a handset to use when chatting on a computer or mobile phone that plugs into the phone/computer with a single 3.5 mm plug. I was hoping to use it on my windows 7 Toshiba laptop. I can hear audio fine through the handset but what I'm saying is not being picked up on the handset. On the box it says "some phones and computers may need additional adapters," so I'm hoping it is possible to get a splitter or something for this to work properly. I did email the parent company (http://dglusa.com/) but I haven't heard from them, and, looking over their website, I doubt I will. I also went to the local radio shack, and the guy said I needed a splitter, but he didn't know where to get one. I can find the kind of splitter I think I need online, but I'm unsure whether they are just for output or can also do input/output.
