  • Rotate screen using xrandr on Solaris 10

How do I call the xrandr command? I want to rotate my screen 90 deg. clockwise. Here is the usage: % xrandr -help usage: xrandr [options] where options are: -display <display> or -d <display> -help -o <normal,inverted,left,right,0,1,2,3> or --orientation <normal,inverted,left,right,0,1,2,3> -q or --query -s <size>/<width>x<height> or --size <size>/<width>x<height> -r <rate> or --rate <rate> or --refresh <rate> -v or --version -x (reflect in x) -y (reflect in y) --screen <screen> --verbose --dryrun --prop or --properties --fb <width>x<height> --fbmm <width>x<height> --dpi <dpi>/<output> --output <output> --auto --mode <mode> --preferred --pos <x>x<y> --rate <rate> or --refresh <rate> --reflect normal,x,y,xy --rotate normal, inverted, left, right --left-of <output> --right-of <output> --above <output> --below <output> --same-as <output> --set <property> <value> --off --crtc <crtc> --newmode <name> <clock MHz> <hdisp> <hsync-start> <hsync-end> <htotal> <vdisp> <vsync-start> <vsync-end> <vtotal> [+HSync] [-HSync] [+VSync] [-VSync] --rmmode <name> --addmode <output> <name> --delmode <output> <name> This is what I tried: % xrandr -o left X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request: 159 (RANDR) Minor opcode of failed request: 2 () Serial number of failed request: 16 Current serial number in output stream: 16 I am running Solaris 10.

  • uploading via http post (multipart/form-data) silently fails with big files

    - by matteo
When uploading multipart/form-data forms via a http post request to my apache web server, very big files (i.e. 30MB) are silently discarded. On the server side all looks as if the attached file was received with 0 bytes size. On the client side all looks like it had been uploaded succesfully (it takes the expected long time to upload and the browser gives no error message). On the server, nothing is logged into the error log. An entry is logged into the access log as if everything was ok (a post request and a 200 ok response). These uploads are being posted to a php script. In the php script, If I print_r $_FILES, I see the following information for the relevant file: [file5] => Array ( [name] => MOV023.3gp [type] => video/3gpp [tmp_name] => /tmp/phpgOdvYQ [error] => 0 [size] => 0 ) Note both [error] = 0 (which should mean no error) and [size] = 0 (as if the file was empty). My php script runs fine and receives all the rest of the data except these files. move_uploaded_file succeeds on these files and actually copies them as 0byte files. I've already changed the php directives max_upload_size to 50M and post_max_size to 200M, so neither the single file nor the request exceed any size limit. max_execution_time is not relevant, because the time to transfer the data does not count; and I've increased max_input_time to 1000 seconds, though this shouldn't be necessary since this is the time taken to parse the input data, not the time taken to upload it. Is there any apache configuration, prior to php, that could be causing these files to be discarded even prior to php execution? Some limit in size or in upload time? I've read about a default 300 seconds timeout limit, but this should apply to the time the connection is idle, not the time it takes while actually transferring data, right? Needless to say, uploads with all exactly identical conditions (including file format, client and everything) except smaller file size, work seamlessly, so the issue is clearly related to the file or request size, or to the time it takes to send it.

  • 2-Bay External HDD Enclosure in JBOD mode fails to detect both drives (Linux & Windows)

    - by mgc8888
I recently purchased a couple of USB 3.0 External HDD Enclosures to use for storage and backup; the idea was to have one act as backup to the other, with 4 x 3TB drives in total. However, the second drive in each is not accessible in either Linux nor Windows, and I could not determine the reason. 1. Situation The two enclosures are slightly different (couldn't find them in stock at the same time) yet from many little details appear to be the same Chinese base design with a tweaked outer shell. The models are: Sharkoon 2-Bay RAID Box Fantec MR-35DU3 The drives are Seagate 3TB Barracuda ST33000651AS, firmware CC44, all identical. From reading manuals and online sources, I determined that JBOD would be the optimal setup for my needs -- addressing the two drives separately in each enclosure would be important, making it easy to swap drives and mix&match them if needed; all the other modes implied the controller doing a combination of the drives. The software used was Debian GNU/Linux - testing/wheezy - kernel 2.6.39-2 and Windows 7 Ultimate. 2. Description of the problem Now, here comes the problem: every time I connect either of the enclosures to a PC using the supplied cable (tried a different one as well), only the HDD in the top bay is readable, the one below is detected yet errors out in various ways. According to the manuals, it should not happen: in JBOD, the system should be able to "see" two separate drives upon connection. This happens with both enclosures and any combination of HDDs (i.e. if I swap them, the same thing happens), so the HDDs are good and I think so are the enclosures (two different companies making similar products that failed in an identical fashion would be very unlikely). The top HDD can be used fine every time, I actually tried a speed test from Linux and got about 150MiB/s reads, so all is working as it should; the one below refuses to work every time. So the failure is consistent. To make sure this was not some obscure Linux bug, I tried the same under Windows 7, and the system also only created one drive letter for a drive of 3TB size (so it was only seeing one instead of both). Placing an older, known good, 2TB drive in the top bay made that the one recognised, so we have the same issue under Windows as well. Log entries under Linux (tested here with a 3TB and a 2TB drive so I could differentiate them; either one works in the top enclosure, in the test setup the 3TB one is on top). You can see them being detected, the top one is ok, but for the bottom one only errors: Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582436] usb 6-1: New USB device found, idVendor=1ca1, idProduct=18ae Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582440] usb 6-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582442] usb 6-1: Product: Usb Sata Bridge Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582444] usb 6-1: Manufacturer: SYMWAVE Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.582446] usb 6-1: SerialNumber: 39584B304C4E3441 Jul 19 23:28:15 media kernel: [260150.870412] scsi11 : usb-storage 6-1:1.0 Jul 19 23:28:16 media kernel: [260151.882087] scsi 11:0:0:0: Direct-Access SYMWAVE ST33000651AS CC44 PQ: 0 ANSI: 4 Jul 19 23:28:16 media kernel: [260151.882242] scsi 11:0:0:1: Direct-Access SYMWAVE ST32000641AS CC12 PQ: 0 ANSI: 4 Jul 19 23:28:16 media kernel: [260151.882677] sd 11:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 Jul 19 23:28:16 media kernel: [260151.882774] sd 11:0:0:0: [sdb] Very big device. • nginx - redirection doesn't work as expected

    - by Luis
    I have a domain listening on both http and https. I want to redirect all the traffic to https except for two specific locations. It works, but only for mydomain.com, not for www.mydomain.com. Here the config: upstream mydomain_rails { server unix:/home/deploy/mydomain/shared/pids/unicorn.sock; } # blog.mydomain.com server { listen 80; server_name blog.mydomain.com; rewrite ^ http://www.mydomain.com/de/blog permanent; } # blog.mydomain.com.br server { listen 80; server_name blog.mydomain.com.br; rewrite ^ http://www.mydomain.com/br/blog permanent; } # www.mydomain.de server { listen 80; server_name mydomain.de www.mydomain.de; rewrite ^ https://www.mydomain.com/de permanent; } # www.mydomain.com.br server { listen 80; server_name mydomain.com.br www.mydomain.com.br; rewrite ^ https://www.mydomain.com/br permanent; } server { listen 80; server_name mydomain.com; rewrite ^ http://www.mydomain.com$request_uri permanent; } ## www.mydomain.com ## Redirect http to https, keep blogs on plain http server { listen 80; server_name www.mydomain.com; location / { # if ($host ~* ^(www\.mydomain\.com)$ ) { rewrite ^/(.*)$ https://www.mydomain.com/$1 permanent; # } # return 444; } # Matches any request starting with '/br/blog' and proxies to the upstream blog instance location ~* /br/blog { proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_redirect off; if (!-f $request_filename) { rewrite ^/br/blog$ /; rewrite ^/br/blog/(.*)$ /$1; proxy_pass http://mydomain_blog_br; break; } } # Matches any request starting with '/de/blog' and proxies to the upstream blog instance location ~* /de/blog { proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_redirect off; if (!-f $request_filename) { rewrite ^/de/blog$ /; rewrite ^/de/blog/(.*)$ /$1; proxy_pass http://mydomain_blog; break; } } } # www.mydomain.com server { add_header Cache-Control "public, must-revalidate"; server_name mydomain.com www.mydomain.com; listen 443; ssl on; ssl_certificate /etc/ssl/mydomain.com/sslchain.crt; ssl_certificate_key /etc/ssl/mydomain.com/privatekey.key; ## Strict Transport Security (ForceHTTPS), max-age 30d add_header Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=2592000; includeSubdomains"; ## Due SSL encryption, rather to increase the keepalive requests and timeout keepalive_requests 10; keepalive_timeout 60 60; root /home/deploy/mydomain/current/public/; error_log /home/deploy/mydomain/shared/log/nginx.error.log info; access_log /home/deploy/mydomain/shared/log/nginx.access.log main; ## Redirect from non-www to www if ($host = 'mydomain.com' ) { rewrite ^/(.*)$ https://www.mydomain.com/$1 permanent; } ## Caching images for 3 months location ~* \.(ico|css|js|gif|jpe?g|png)\?[0-9]+$ { expires 30d; break; } ## Deny illegal Host headers if ($host !~* ^(mydomain.com|www.mydomain.com)$ ) { return 444; } ## Deny certain User-Agents (case insensitive) if ($http_user_agent ~* (Baiduspider|webalta|Wget|WordPress|youdao|jakarta) ) { return 444; } ## Deny certain Referers (case insensitive) if ($http_referer ~* (dating|diamond|forsale|girl|jewelry|nudit|poker|porn|poweroversoftware|sex|teen|webcam|zippo|zongdo) ) { return 444; } ## Enable maintenance page. • How to make proxy on nginx?

How would I set my webservers to work in way described below? Http request: mypublic.com --- handled normally by nginx as it is set up already (listen 80;) Http request: myprivate.com --- handled by apache set up to work on 8080 (listen 8080) I'd like to avoid including ports when typing address in browser, some kind of mockup (proxy?). Both of domains are pointing to my machine and set up by named.

The transaction ID for DNS queries can take values from 1 to 65,536 and my computer pseudorandomly chooses one for each DNS request. If I sents 1,024 false replies per request, how many requests should I trigger to compromise the DNS cache with probability 99%? or as close tot hat as I can get. Thanks I'm getting a result of .6 requests which doesn't seem right to me. Feel as though it should be around 30

  • How does too many requests make a server crash?

    - by eSKay
I am wondering why websites crash at all. If a server has too many requests, it might queue up the request in its waiting lists and serve it when all the earlier requests have been served. That means that the request for the website will be taken care of, although it may take some more time than expected. Then, how do websites crash due to server overload?

  • Varnish, hide port number

    - by George Reith
My set up is as follows: OS: CentOS 6.2 running on an OpenVZ virtual machine. Web server: Nginx listening on port 8080 Reverse proxy: Varnish listening on port 80 The problem is that Varnish redirects my requests to port 8080 and this appears in the address bar like so http://mysite.com:8080/directory/, causing relative links on the site to include the port number (8080) in the request and thus bypassing Varnish. • lighttpd: weird behavior on multiple rewrite rule matches

    - by netmikey
    I have a 20-rewrite.conf for my php application looking like this: $HTTP["host"] =~ "www.mydomain.com" { url.rewrite-once += ( "^/(img|css)/.*" => "$0", ".*" => "/my_app.php" ) } I want to be able to put the webserver in kind of a "maintenance" mode while I update my application from scm. To do this, my idea was to enable an additional rewrite configuration file before this one. The 16-rewrite-maintenance.conf file looks like this: url.rewrite-once += ( "^/(img|css)/.*" => "$0", ".*" => "/maintenance_app.php" ) Now, on the maintenance page, I have a logo that doesn't get loaded. I get a 404 error. Lighttpd debug says the following: 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.300) -- splitting Request-URI 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.301) Request-URI : /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.302) URI-scheme : http 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.303) URI-authority: localhost 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.304) URI-path : /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.305) URI-query : 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.300) -- splitting Request-URI 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.301) Request-URI : /img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.302) URI-scheme : http 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.303) URI-authority: localhost 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.304) URI-path : /img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.305) URI-query : 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.349) -- sanatising URI 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.350) URI-path : /img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (mod_access.c.135) -- mod_access_uri_handler called 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.470) -- before doc_root 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.471) Doc-Root : /www 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.472) Rel-Path : /img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.473) Path : 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.521) -- after doc_root 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.522) Doc-Root : /www 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.523) Rel-Path : /img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.524) Path : /www/img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.541) -- logical -> physical 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.542) Doc-Root : /www 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.543) Rel-Path : /img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.544) Path : /www/img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.561) -- handling physical path 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.562) Path : /www/img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.618) -- file not found 2012-12-13 20:28:06: (response.c.619) Path : /www/img/content/logo.png, /img/content/logo.png Any clue on why lighttpd matches both rules (from my application rewrite config and from my maintenance rewrite config) and concatenates them with a comma - that doesn't seem to make any sense?! Shouldn't it stop after the first match with rewrite-once?

  • possible UDP attack on BIND?

    - by Waleed Hamra
hello everyone, i was surprised last month when my EC2 instance (ubuntu precise server), that is supposed to be under the free tier still, accumulated lots of traffic... today, while checking my current billing statement, i noticed i already have tons of traffic, while still in the middle of the month, and i'm fearing what my bill by the end of the month is going to be... i installed bandwidthd, and after few minutes, i noticed lots of UDP traffic to "108.162.233.15". this is apparently a cloudflare IP, and i don't have anything using cloudflare (as far as i know). so i ran "iftop" to see what ports are being used, and i saw the UDP traffic coming from port 80 to my port 53... why would a webserver query dns? so i stopped bind on my server, and ran it in foreground debugging mode, and saw the following query, being repeated continuously: 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.216 client 108.162.233.15#80: UDP request 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.216 client 108.162.233.15#80: request is not signed 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.216 client 108.162.233.15#80: recursion available 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.216 client 108.162.233.15#80: query 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.216 client 108.162.233.15#80: query (cache) 'isc.org/ANY/IN' approved 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.216 client 108.162.233.15#80: send 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.216 client 108.162.233.15#80: sendto 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.216 client 108.162.233.15#80: senddone 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.217 client 108.162.233.15#80: next 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.217 client 108.162.233.15#80: endrequest 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.217 client @0x7fbee05126e0: udprecv 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.343 client 108.162.233.15#80: UDP request 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.343 client 108.162.233.15#80: request is not signed 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.343 client 108.162.233.15#80: recursion available 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.343 client 108.162.233.15#80: query 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.343 client 108.162.233.15#80: query (cache) 'isc.org/ANY/IN' approved 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.343 client 108.162.233.15#80: send 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.344 client 108.162.233.15#80: sendto 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.344 client 108.162.233.15#80: senddone 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.344 client 108.162.233.15#80: next 17-Nov-2012 12:30:58.344 client 108.162.233.15#80: endrequest my question is... is this normal? should i be worried? or is this completely irrelevant to my data charges, and i should wait to see more data from bandwidthd? thank you in advance.

  • All subdomains routed to same DocumentRoot, apache config

    - by ed209
You've seen it done on sites like basecamphq.com where you would have username.basecamphq.com I'm wanting to do a similar thing, any subdomain is routed through to the same index.php file. so username1.example.com will request /home/some/path/to/www (in here is index.php) and username2.example.com will request the same file I have it working locally, but my server uses cPanel. What would be your guess at the apache conifguration?

  • Stop duplicate icmp echo replies when bridging to a dummy interface?

    - by mbrownnyc
I recently configured a bridge br0 with members as eth0 (real if) and dummy0 (dummy.ko if). When I ping this machine, I receive duplicate replies as: # ping SERVERA PING SERVERA.domain.local (192.168.100.115) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from SERVERA.domain.local (192.168.100.115): icmp_seq=1 ttl=62 time=113 ms 64 bytes from SERVERA.domain.local (192.168.100.115): icmp_seq=1 ttl=62 time=114 ms (DUP!) 64 bytes from SERVERA.domain.local (192.168.100.115): icmp_seq=2 ttl=62 time=113 ms 64 bytes from SERVERA.domain.local (192.168.100.115): icmp_seq=2 ttl=62 time=113 ms (DUP!) Using tcpdump on SERVERA, I was able to see icmp echo replies being sent from eth0 and br0 itself as follows (oddly two echo request packets arrive "from" my Windows box myhost): 23:19:05.324192 IP myhost.domain.local > SERVERA.domain.local: ICMP echo request, id 512, seq 43781, length 40 23:19:05.324212 IP SERVERA.domain.local > myhost.domain.local: ICMP echo reply, id 512, seq 43781, length 40 23:19:05.324217 IP myhost.domain.local > SERVERA.domain.local: ICMP echo request, id 512, seq 43781, length 40 23:19:05.324221 IP SERVERA.domain.local > myhost.domain.local: ICMP echo reply, id 512, seq 43781, length 40 23:19:05.324264 IP SERVERA.domain.local > myhost.domain.local: ICMP echo reply, id 512, seq 43781, length 40 23:19:05.324272 IP SERVERA.domain.local > myhost.domain.local: ICMP echo reply, id 512, seq 43781, length 40 It's worth noting, testing reveals that hosts on the same physical switch do not see DUP icmp echo responses (a host on the same VLAN on another switch does see a dup icmp echo response). I've read that this could be due to the ARP table of a switch, but I can't find any info directly related to bridges, just bonds. I have a feeling my problem lay in the stack on linux, not the switch, but am opened to any suggestions. The system is running centos6/el6 kernel 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.i686. How do I stop ICMP echo replies from being sent in duplicate when dealing with a bridge interface/bridged interfaces? Thanks, Matt [edit] Quick note: It was recommended in #linux to: [08:53] == mbrownnyc [gateway/web/freenode/] has joined ##linux [08:57] <lkeijser> mbrownnyc: what happens if you set arp_ignore to 1 for the dummy interface? [08:59] <lkeijser> also set arp_announce to 2 for that interface [09:24] <mbrownnyc> lkeijser: I set arp_annouce to 2, arp_ignore to 2 in /etc/sysctl.conf and rebooted the machine... verifying that the bits are set after boot... the problem is still present I did this and came up empty. Same dup problem. I will be moving away from including the dummy interface in the bridge as: [09:31] == mbrownnyc [gateway/web/freenode/] has joined #Netfilter [09:31] <mbrownnyc> Hello all... I'm wondering, is it correct that even with an interface in PROMISC that the kernel will drop /some/ packets before they reach applications? [09:31] <whaffle> What would you make think so? [09:32] <mbrownnyc> I ask because I am receiving ICMP echo replies after configuring a bridge with a dummy interface in order for ipt_netflow to see all packets, only as reported in it's documentation: http://ipt-netflow.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=ipt-netflow/ipt-netflow;a=blob;f=README.promisc [09:32] <mbrownnyc> but I do not know if PROMISC will do the same job [09:33] <mbrownnyc> I was referred here from #linux. any assistance is appreciated [09:33] <whaffle> The following conditions need to be met: PROMISC is enabled (bridges and applications like tcpdump will do this automatically, otherwise they won't function). [09:34] <whaffle> If an interface is part of a bridge, then all packets that enter the bridge should already be visible in the raw table. [09:35] <mbrownnyc> thanks whaffle PROMISC must be set manually for ipt_netflow to function, but [09:36] <whaffle> promisc does not need to be set manually, because the bridge will do it for you. [09:36] <whaffle> When you do not have a bridge, you can easily create one, thereby rendering any kernel patches moot. [09:36] <mbrownnyc> whaffle: I speak without the bridge [09:36] <whaffle> It is perfectly valid to have a "half-bridge" with only a single interface in it. [09:36] <mbrownnyc> whaffle: I am unfamiliar with the raw table, does this mean that PROMISC allows the raw table to be populated with packets the same as if the interface was part of a bridge? [09:37] <whaffle> Promisc mode will cause packets with {a dst MAC address that does not equal the interface's MAC address} to be delivered from the NIC into the kernel nevertheless. [09:37] <mbrownnyc> whaffle: I suppose I mean to clearly ask: what benefit would creating a bridge have over setting an interface PROMISC? [09:38] <mbrownnyc> whaffle: from your last answer I feel that the answer to my question is "none," is this correct? [09:39] <whaffle> Furthermore, the linux kernel itself has a check for {packets with a non-local MAC address}, so that packets that will not enter a bridge will be discarded as well, even in the face of PROMISC. [09:46] <mbrownnyc> whaffle: so, this last bit of information is quite clearly why I would need and want a bridge in my situation [09:46] <mbrownnyc> okay, the ICMP echo reply duplicate issue is likely out of the realm of this channel, but I sincerely appreciate the info on the kernels inner-workings [09:52] <whaffle> mbrownnyc: either the kernel patch, or a bridge with an interface. Since the latter is quicker, yes [09:54] <mbrownnyc> thanks whaffle [edit2] After removing the bridge, and removing the dummy kernel module, I only had a single interface chilling out, lonely. I still received duplicate icmp echo replies... in fact I received a random amount: http://pastebin.com/2LNs0GM8 The same thing doesn't happen on a few other hosts on the same switch, so it has to do with the linux box itself. I'll likely end up rebuilding it next week. Then... you know... this same thing will occur again. [edit3] Guess what? I rebuilt the box, and I'm still receiving duplicate ICMP echo replies. Must be the network infrastructure, although the ARP tables do not contain multiple entries. [edit4] How ridiculous. The machine was a network probe, so I was (ingress and egress) mirroring an uplink port to a node that was the NIC. So, the flow (must have) gone like this: ICMP echo request comes in through the mirrored uplink port. (the real) ICMP echo request is received by the NIC (the mirrored) ICMP echo request is received by the NIC ICMP echo reply is sent for both. I'm ashamed of myself, but now I know. It was suggested on #networking to either isolate the mirrored traffic to an interface that does not have IP enabled, or tag the mirrored packets with dot1q.

  • List Squid's internal ip:port to external ip:port mapping table

    - by joshperry
I'm assuming that squid keeps a list of internal ip:port that a request is made on and the matching external ip:port that the request is fulfilled with. In the case of a long transfer, such as a file download, it would be nice to be able to see which internal ip:port is downloading the file. I am able to see the traffic and get the external ip:port that squid is using easily with tcpdump or iptraf but I can't find a way to map this back to an internal ip:port.

  • Is it possible to configure TMG to impersonate a domain user for anonymous requests to a website?

    - by Daniel Root
I would like to configure Forefront Threat Management Gateway (formerly ISA server) to impersonate a specific domain user for any anonymous request to a particular listener. For example, for any anonymous request to http://www.mycompany.com, I would like to serve up http://myinternal as though MYDOMAIN/GuestAccount were accessing the site. Is this even possible in ISA/TMG? If so, where do I go to configure this?

Does it VERY big cost to log to sql server each request directly? The pages are open connection to the database anyway for each request.

  • Unmanaged Network Switch vs Managed Network Switch

Currently I have an unmanaged POE switch connected to a Linksys router. I am thinking of upgrading my POE switch to a gigabit POE switch, the only problem is that the switch that I want to get is a managed switch. So here's my question: with a managed switch, can I still connect all of my devices to it and have the devices request IP addresses from the DHCP server within the Linksys router or will the devices request IPs from the managed switch since I believe the switch has its own DHCP server as well?
