• Alias multiple DNS entries to one Amazon S3 Bucket

  I have a bucket on Amazon S3. Lets call it "webstatic.mydomain.com". I have a DNS alias setup for that bucket webstatic.mydomain.com CNAME - web-static.mydomain.com.s3.amazonaws.com. This all works great, however for some rather complicated reasons I now need: webstatic.myOtherDomain.com to point to that same amazon bucket so: webstatic.myOtherDomain.com CNAME - web-static.mydomain.com.s3.amazonaws.com. Fails, as the bucket is not called the same as the referring DNS. Can anyone tell me how to have two different DNS entries pointing to the same amazon bucket?

  Hi, I am working on a site that has the following structure: site.com/us - us version site.com/uk - uk version site.com/jp - Japanese version etc. I would like to create a robots.txt that points the local search engines to a localized sitemap page and has them exclude everything else from the local listings. So, google.com (us) will index ONLY site.com/us and take in consideration site.com/us/sitemap.html google.co.uk will index only site.com/uk and site.com/uk/sitemap.html Same for the rest of the search engines, including Yahoo, Bing etc. Any idea on how to achieve this? • sendmail on Snow Leopard

  I'm trying to get sendmail working on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.4), so that I can send mail with PHP's mail() function. If you know how to do this without sendmail, I'd be interested in that also. The plan is to send mail through smtp.gmail.com using my gmail account, unless you have a better idea. I did this and that didn't work. In /etc/postfix/smtp_sasl_passwords I tried both:     smtp.yourisp.com username:password and     smtp.yourisp.com [email protected]:password The problem seems to be that google doesn't like me. • Nginx Proxying to Multiple IP Addresses for CMS' Website Preview

  First-time poster, so bear with me. I'm relatively new to Nginx, but have managed to figure out what I've needed... until now. Nginx v1.0.15 is proxying to PHP-FPM v.5.3.10, which is listening at http://127.0.0.1:9000. [Knock on wood] everything has been running smoothly in terms of hosting our CMS and many websites. Now, we've developed our CMS and configured Nginx such that each supported website has a preview URL (e.g. http://[WebsiteID].ourcms.com/) where the site can be, you guessed it, previewed in those situations where DNS doesn't yet resolve to our server, etc. Specifically, we use Nginx's Map module (http://wiki.nginx.org/HttpMapModule) and a regular expression in the server_name of the CMS' server{ } block to 1) lookup a website's primary domain name from its preview URL and then 2) forward the request to the "matched" primary domain. The corresponding Nginx configuration: map $host $h { 123.ourcms.com www.example1.com; 456.ourcms.com www.example2.com; 789.ourcms.com www.example3.com; } and server { listen [OurCMSIPAddress]:80; listen [OurCMSIPAddress]:443 ssl; root /var/www/ourcms.com; server_name ~^(.*)\.ourcms\.com$; ssl_certificate /etc/nginx/conf.d/ourcms.com.chained.crt; ssl_certificate_key /etc/nginx/conf.d/ourcms.com.key; location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1/; proxy_set_header Host $h; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; } } (Note: I do realize that the regex in the server_name should be "tighter" for security reasons and match only the format of the website ID (i.e. a UUID in our case).) This configuration works for 99% of our sites... except those that have a dedicated IP address for an installed SSL certificate. A "502 Bad Gateway" is returned for these and I'm unsure as to why. This is how I think the current configuration works for any requests that match the regex (e.g. http://123.ourcms.com/): Nginx looks up the website's primary domain from the mapping, and as a result of the proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1 directive, passes the request back to Nginx itself, which since the proxied request has a hostname corresponding to the website's primary domain name, via the proxy_set_header Host $h directive, Nginx handles the request as if it was as direct request for that hostname. Please correct me if I'm wrong in this understanding. Should I be proxying to those website's dedicated IP addresses? I tried this, but it didn't seem to work? Is there a setting in the Proxy module that I'm missing? Thanks for the help. MB

• Gmail flagging emails as spam despite SPF being enabled and working perfectly

  I have a website where people can recommend contents to their friends using their email. The issue is that emails are being flagged as spam whereas if I do the same from my development machine things are working out fine. I have enabled SPF and it is perfect. When sending through website, the email appears as this in Gmail Inbox: From xyz@gmail.com to abc@gmail.com. When I send it from my development machine it appears as : From xyz.com via mywebsite.com to abc@gmail.com mailed by mywebsite.com and this is exactly how I envisioned it. From what little I could figure out by looking at the source of emails in Gmail is that when sending from my development machine Gmail correctly recognizes my domain as mywebsite.com for which SPF is enabled and hence it treats it as genuine email. Whereas Gmail recognizes my domain as [email protected].com when sent through the website. Can someone tell me why it does so? Any help would be really appreciated.

• Cookieless Domain redirect in WHM/cPANEL

  I am currently trying to get my head around in understanding how to set-up a "cookieless" domain using WHM / Cpanel - unfortunately without any success at this moment. I have a Magento store and I would like to use "cookieless domains" for my media, skin (template) and js files. Magento has a nice feature to define URL for those folders. My current setup is as follows: www.mydomain.com <- main store media.mydomain.com <- subdomain to the media folder (mydomain.com/media/) skin.mydomain.com <- subdomain to the media folder (mydomain.com/skin/) js.mydomain.com <- subdomain to the media folder (mydomain.com/js/) I think it's poinless to have them used as "cookieliess domains" since my Magento installation uses .mydomain.com as cookie domain, so what I would like to achieve is to register a new additional domain and have it point via WHM / cPanel to those specific locations. I have tried to change the A and CNAME records although without any success as they were just simply redirecting from one page to another in the browser (newdomain.com - jump to old.com). What kind of records do I have to set to have this working properly? Some advice would be highly appreciated.

  I am using exim4u for a mail server on debian. Everything has been working fine until recently. I have not done anything to the server from the time it was working until now. I have a domain set up and is receiving and sending mail correctly. When i put a forwarding address in to a gmail address, I can still receive and send email from my webmail client but it never makes it to gmail.   I recently added a new domain to my mail server. I have 1 main server mail.example.com and several others that have the mx record pointing to mail.example.com. My two new domains have the mx record set correctly. The issue I am experiencing is the 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable error but only when I send emails to accounts on the new urls from an external email account such as gmail. If i send an email to one of the newly made email addresses with the new url from an email account within the same server it delivers normally. For example.... sending blahblah@gmail.com to newemail@example.com receives 550 error sending newemail@example.com to newemail2@example.com works normal here is a report from wormly.com with server and account names changed for obvious reasons Resolving hostname... Escape character is '^]'. 220 mail.domain.com ESMTP Postfix (Ubuntu) To sum thing up: a) Postfix (running on 10.10.10.4 / mail.domiain.com) refuses connection from a host in the same LAN (10.10.10.2), but only when queried through the FQDN (mail.domain.com) b) mail.domain.com accepts connections to other services (but Postfix) from 10.10.10.2 c) mail.domain.com accepts connections to all services, including Postfix, from the outside world If it were a firewall issue, then I believe it would not be possible to connect to any service from 10.10.10.2 through the FQSN / public IP. It ought to be some missing parameter in Postfix, although I haven't found any clear pointers so far.

I see another firm (rival one) who sets up way more MX-records ? Roughly, around 10-15 entries. Am I doing something wrong ? More is better in this case ? Is there a secret that I'm not on too ?

  I have a blogger blog put up, and Google told me to add some A records in order to enable a www-free redirection to the full www domain. So by adding those, visiting bitfalls.com (which is my blog) should go to www.bitfalls.com, but this does not happen. Instead, I get a not found error. Is there anything else I should do? The records are as follows: Interestingly, even blog.bitfalls.com fails with a not found error, only when prefixed with www does it work. The other part of the question is - since my domain name is registered at name.com, and I simply redirect the bitfalls.com domain to bitfalls.blogspot.com as per Google's guides, how can I redirect a subdomain of the site, for example, code.bitfalls.com, to go to a specific folder on my hosting provider (hostgator - not name.com), without it triggering the blog?

  I have a domain (example.com) hosted at an external provider. I directed the subdomain sub.example.com to my ubuntu server (12.04 with apache2). On my ubuntu server I have a vhost setup like this.   Situation: I have a single windows 2008 server with a single public IP address. I have multiple domains with wildcard A records pointing to the single IP address. I need each domain to be hosted by a different web site. (i.e. www.domain1.com by site domain1site) I need domain1.com to act like www.domain1.com I need each site to be able to have multiple subdomains (i.e. www.domain1.com, abc.domain1.com, xyz.domain1.com) Not relevant yet here it goes, I plan to handle each subdomain by a different application hosted in the same site (i.e. application /xyz in domain1site) However I found out that IIS7 does not support creating web sites with wildcard host name binding and setting it without any subdomain (i.e. domain1.com) does not work, even for www.domain1.com. Is there a simple solution? Does any IIS Extension like Application Request Routing provide such capability?

  For one of our projects, we're doing a rebranding of the website name, logo, etc... As such, we need to 301 Moved Permenantly redirect all users from the old domain to the new domain. With IIS7, that's pretty simple. We just create a new website that redirects all traffic to a host-headered domain .. to the new one. But this loses their original destination resource. eg. Old Domain: www.OldDomain.com New Domain: www.NewDomain.com User: www.OldDomain.com/user/PureKrome -> 301 --> www.newDomain.com Notice how it's going to the new domain BUT not to /user/PureKrome? How can I do this so it goes to the new domain and keeps the original resource request? I'm guessing URL-ReWriter for IIS7 might help? Also, what happens if I want to do this... CurrentDomain 1: Domain.com CorrectDomain 1: www.Domain.com CurrentDomain 2: AnotherDomain.com CorrectDomain 2: www.AnotherDomain.com Is it also possible to have those in the same IIS website? So any URL to domain.com will 301 to www.domain.com Right now I'm making 2 IIS websites, with a 301 hardcoded (which still means I lose the original resource request, too). Help!

• Nginx Server Block Not Working? - Already running other vhosts just this one not working

  Im running a Debian 6 LEMP server with multiple virtual hosts and everything has been fine for 5 or so sites. But I've just tried adding another but for some reason it's just not working. By not working I mean in Chrome I get the "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to subdomain.domain.net" error. I've changed the domain for security to subdomain.example.com and the IP is masked. Hosts file (I have multiple sub domains): xxx.xxx.xx.xxx *.example.com *.example Server Block: server { listen 80; server_name subdomain.example.com; access_log /srv/www/subdomain.example.com/logs/access.log; error_log /srv/www/subdomain.example.com/logs/error.log; root /srv/www/subdomain.example.com/public_html; location / { index index.html index.htm index.php; } location ~ \.php$ { include fastcgi_params; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; } } I've created the system link to the file in the /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/ directory and restarted/reloaded nginx. I tried looking at the error_log and access_log but I can't find any hint for why can't nginx work. EDIT: The problem was I wasn't able to include that isolated config for nginx.

  I've set up a WordPress multi-site with a wildcard ssl for example.com to access the admin area securely. However I'm also using domain mapping to map other domains to other sites e.g. alldogs.com to alldogs.example.com. The problem is when I'm trying to access the front end of a site from and admin for a mapped domain e.g. alldogs.com by clicking "Visit Site" the Link goes to https://alldogs.com because of the forced ssl applied to the admin area. Which produces a certificate warning since the certificate is for example.com and not alldogs.com. How can write a mod_rewrite rule to determine if the url/link clicked on is not the main domain e.g. example.com then change the https:// to http:// so the site can be accessed via port 80 and not generate a certificate warning for that mapped domains

  assume i have a domain name which will be forwarded to my public ip (web server) automatically. in IIS 6, ip is public ip port is 6666, advanced - host value is www.hello.com firewall is open for 6666(web server port) and 53(DNS port), DMZ of router is my physical address in DNS, i have already had a zone called oldhello.com. And i expect a new domain name. So i have addded a new zone called hello.com and checked SOA server (P) is one.hello.local. then added a new host called one, full name is one.hello.com, ip address 192.168.7.3(my address in router) and then add a alias(CNAME) www, full name is www.hello.com, FQDN i choose the host i added before (one.hello.com) i expected that when i type the public ip in browser, can it be changed to domain name automatically. if not set host value www.hello.com, use public ip i can see the web however, after set up host value www.hello.com, browser show bad request invalid hostname

  looking for a right way to accomplish the following: there is an app that have URL(1) hardcoded and no way/time to change it in the source http://dev.server.com/example.com/admin/soap/action/index?pr=1 and it should use (and get response from) URL(2) http://example.com/admin/soap/action/index?pr=1 what should I configure in Nginx (apache as backup used) conf on dev.server.com in order to give that app when it asks URL(1) answer from URL(2)? On dev.server.com Apache has virtual host: dev.server.com enabled.
