I terrible with bash scripting, and need some help with the following: #!/bin/bash if [ -e Pretty* ];then ncftpput -R -DD -v -u xbmc -p xbmc 192.168.1.100 /home/xbmc/TV/Pretty_Little_Liars/ Pretty* else echo "No new folders" fi find -depth -type d -empty -exec rmdir {} \; Problem here is the ncftpput line.. if I just do a simple [ echo "working" ] instead, everything is OK, but when I try the ncftpput-line it just gives me [ line 5: [: too many arguments ] the ncftpput command alone works fine.. Any ideas?

  • Why is mount -a not mounting fuse drive properly when executed remotely (via Fabric)?

    This is a weird bug and I'm not sure where it's coming from. Here's a quick run down of what I'm doing. I'm trying to mount a FUSE drive to an Amazon EC2 instance running Ubuntu 10.10 using s3fs (FUSE over Amazon). s3fs is compiled from source according to the instructions etc. I've also added an entry to /etc/fstab so that the drive mounts on boot. Here's what /etc/fstab looks like: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> proc /proc proc nodev,noexec,nosuid 0 0 LABEL=uec-rootfs / ext4 defaults 0 0 /dev/sda2 /mnt auto defaults,nobootwait,comment=cloudconfig 0 2 /dev/sda3 none swap sw,comment=cloudconfig 0 0 s3fs#mybucket /mnt/s3/mybucket fuse default_acl=public-read,use_cache=/tmp,allow_other 0 0 So the good news is that this works fine. On reboot the connection mounts correctly. I can also do: $ sudo umount /mnt/s3/mybucket $ sudo mount -a $ mountpoint /mnt/s3/mybucket /mnt/s3/mybucket is a mountpoint Great, right? Well here's the problem. I'm using Fabric to automate the process of building and managing this instance. I noticed I was getting this error message when using Fabric to build s3fs and set up the mount process: mountpoint: /mnt/s3/mybucket: Transport endpoint is not connected I isolated it down the the problem and built a fabric task that reproduces the problem: def remount_s3fs(): sudo("mount -a") Which does: [ec2-xx-xx-xx-xx.compute-1.amazonaws.com] Executing task 'remount_s3fs' [ec2-xx-xx-xx-xx.compute-1.amazonaws.com] sudo: mount -a [And yes, I was sure to unmount it before running this task.] When I check the mount using mountpoint I get: $ mountpoint /mnt/s3/mybucket mountpoint: /mnt/s3/mybucket: Transport endpoint is not connected Done. But if I run sudo mount -a at the command line, it works. Hrm. Here is that fab task output again, this time in full debug mode: [ec2-xx-xx-xx-xx.compute-1.amazonaws.com] Executing task 'remount_s3fs' [ec2-xx-xx-xx-xx.compute-1.amazonaws.com] sudo: sudo -S -p 'sudo password:' /bin/bash -l -c "mount -a" Again, I get that transport endpoint not connected error. I've also tried copying and pasting the exact command run into my ssh session (i.e. sudo -S -p 'sudo password:' /bin/bash -l -c "mount -a") and it works fine. So...that's my problem. Any ideas?

    Hi Folks, I've just switched to zsh. However, I really don't like how the time builtin command also outputs the command that it's timing. I much prefer the bash style output. Anyone know how to switch it over?     I have a few MP4s that i want to upload to my flickr account but they have a maximum size of 500mb as mine is only about 550 i was planing to simply split them in half then upload them, but i want to make sure all the meta data is included but it does not seem to be.   • apt-get erroring because of a broken package

    Everytime I run apt-get install or update on my server I get the following error: (May not be exactly this because I am translating from portuguese) An error was found when processing: netatalk E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) I am not trying to install that package. This error appeared when I tried to install that package, which failed to install, and it won't disappear. This doesn't prevent me from installing other packages. It installs them, just gives this error at the end.

  • Vim configuration slow in Terminal & iTerm2 but not in MacVim

    Ideally, I want to use Vim from Terminal or iTerm2. However, it becomes unbearably slow so I had to resort to using MacVim. There is nothing wrong with MacVim, however my workflow would be much smoother if I used only Terminal/iTerm2. When its slow Loading files, in particular Rails files takes about 1 - 1.5s. Removing rails.vim decreases this time to 0.5 - 1s. In MacVim this is instantaneous. Scrolling through the rows and columns via h, j, k, l. It progressively gets slower the longer I hold down the keys. Eventually, it starts jumping rows. I have my Key Repeat set to Fast and Delay Until Repeat set to Short. After 10 - 15 minutes of usage, using plugins such as ctrlp or Command-T gets very laggy. I'd type a letter, wait 2 - 3s, then type the next.     I can re-order 'cmd' tabs in Conemu ( as per Is that possible to reorder tabs in ConEmu?), but the WinAltLeft and WinAltRight shortcuts do not work if the tab has a Cygwin shell in it. I have tried various combinations of hotkey modifiers but none of them seem to work with the Cygwin shell. This is problematic because most of the tabs in my ConEmu have Cygwin shells. I open a Cygwin shell using the following command: C:\cygwin\bin\mintty.exe -i /Cygwin-Terminal.ico -

    When I try to connect using Tortoise to my SVN server using: svn://localhost/ Tortoise tells me: "Can't connect to host 'localhost'. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it." How can I fix this? I am trying to set up a subversion server on my local PC for personal use. I am running Windows Vista, with SlikSVN and TortoiseSVN installed. I previously had everything working correctly, but I found that I couldn't merge(!), apparently due to a version mismatch between the SVN client and server. Anyway... I now have the following setup: I created a repository using svnadmin create; it resides at C:\svnGrove C:\svnGrove\conf\svnserve.conf (# comments omitted): [general] anon-access=read auth-access=write password-db=passwd #authz-db=authz realm=svnGrove C:\svnGrove\conf\passwd: [users] myname=mypass My Subversion Server service is pointed to: C:\Program Files\SlikSvn\bin\svnserve.exe --service -r C:\svnGrove It shows the TCP/IP service as a dependency. I have also tried running svnserve from the command line, with similar results. Edit The old version of svnserve was still set up as a service after the uninstall, pointed to this path: C:\Program Files\Subversion\svn-win32-1.4.6\bin I edited the registry key for the service to point to the new path (shown above). Whether I run svnserve as a service, or using -d, I do not see an entry for that port number in the listing generated by netstat -anp tcp.

  • Upstart script not working on Ubuntu

    I'm trying to write an upstart script to start orbited on startup. The script is as follows: #orbited start on startup stop on shutdown script exec /usr/local/bin/orbited --config=/etc/orbited.cfg end script When I run upstart orbited I get something like this: orbited start/running, process 605 But when I run status orbited right after doing that I get: orbited stop/waiting The script fails to start even though it says it's running. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Im prety sure i completely removed mysql from my system, except for one thing. When i type mysql in the command line i get this bash: /opt/local/bin/mysql5: No such file or directory How is it still recognizing where it thinks mysql should be? I'm trying to build it myself in /usr/local, and when i do install it there, i still get that error message for it looking for it in opt/local.

    Hello everyone, I have a simple script which runs on a FreeBSD machine with the following code: #!/bin/sh `sed -i .bak '\:#start 172.0.0.3:,\:#end 172.0.0.3:d' /usr/local/etc/racoon/racoon.conf` echo $? It should delete a block of text between the two patterns. The problem is that if I run the sed command directly from shell it works, if i run the script the return code is 0. Why's that?

  • ksh93 as default shell via ssh
