How much memory (RAM) would the average LAMP production server use, assuming little-to-no traffic, barebones except Apache2, PHP 5.3, MySQL5 installed and running?
i'm thinking about converting my OS (ubuntu) to the 64 bit version to use the last bit of memory (4 gb)—ok, it's rather reinstalling …
will this work as expected or are there possible limits given by the mainboard/memory controller/some other component, so i cannot fully utilize my full ram? if so, are there benefits from upgrading anyway?
I use Windows 7 with a laptop specifications processor core (Core i3), 2 GB DDR3 RAM, the remaining capacity on the system partition (25 GB).
I do not know why the "welcome screen" takes a long time (about 40 sec), but yesterday only took about 10 sec.,
I tried to defragment the disk and do a virus & spyware scan with antivirus, but still the "Welcome screen" comes along.
How do I get the welcome screen to pass by faster when Windows boots up?
I just installed 4 1.5TB hard disks (WD) in two servers (2 in each). Upon reboot they are not showing up in the disk manager whatsoever.
I'm running Windows Server 2003 EE (32bit) with 8GB ram. They both currently have mirrored 300GB sata disks. Why aren't they being recognized? Is there a disk size limit for win2k3 r2?
Hi,
im aware of the possibility to create instances but i don't know a real good reason to do it. This way one has per definition at least two sqlserver services running, but what for should this be good?
The two instances have to share all the ressouces mainly the RAM. If you have to rename the server you will end up with an access like \NEWSQLServer\OldInstanceName.
So what is the case for instances?
I am web designer/developer, and I design and code "Premium Wordpress Themes" and HTML Websites.
I wish to buy a new PC system with fast features, and will be installing virtual machines too.
What kind of PC system would be best for a professional web designer/developer.
Tell me the PC specs, e.g processor, motherboard, how much hard drive, RAM, graphic card etc.
Don't really care about the price.
How is it possible that a cached query could take that long. With cache cleared it takes 25000 ms (I know that's just way too long but that's not the issue here). Once it is cached, it takes 2500 ms. What could be the problem here? If it's cached, I assume Sql Server gets it out of the RAM. So, again, 2500ms???
i want to implement a cloud computing model with some nodes

It takes too much time to load a page.
IBM X3200 M3 Server - 1 Intel Xeon Processor with 4 GB Ram
Below is my current configuration for apache:

I've setup a server which I've connected to multiple PCs in my workplace. Sadly, data transfer speeds are at max 3 MB/sec per connection which works out slow for file transfers, especially when transferring large files. I'm using Windows filesharing and the server is a Windows Server 2008 (2 Ghz CPU, 1 GB RAM) and the client PCs mostly running Windows 7. How can I detect bottlenecks in my network and improve file sharing speed within the network?
Since my server is under a sustain DNS amplification attack (DDOS),
I configured fail2ban and initially my outgoing traffic dropped markedly.
Anyway, after a few hours (mostly +10), fail2ban uses about 75% ram and seems to be crashed in some way, because the outgoing traffic raises imediatly after. When I searched the web for the memory problem, I found some people complaining about high fail2ban memory usages as well. But the recommended solution, to insert an ulimit command into a fail2ban config file, did not change that much for me.
i brought compaq cq40 330tu laptop one month back its config is intel core 2 duo 2.0 GHz,2gb ddr2 ram,160 hardisk

Full Size
I just got a bunch of security softwares installed today so I'm wondering if that could be the reason. Programs like Dos deflate, CSF firewall, Mod_security, SIM, Log watch, etc.
My server's details:
CentOS
Processor Intel Xeon CPU X3220
CPU Speed 2.39 GHz
Cache Size 4.00 MB
RAM 2GB DDR2
We have a win 7 home prem pc, amd cpu, 8G ram, plenty of free disk space. Whenever user is working in publisher 20003, and tries to save a publisher 2003 document to the desktop, the save as dialog hangs and takes 2-3 minutes to display the desktop save location. I've tested excel 2003, it has no problems immediately displaying the desktop save as location and saving the file.
The current VirtualBox has a place where the video card size can be set by the user.
It seems that Win 7's Virtual PC doesn't have one?
Will it auto adjust -- but what if the screen size is 800 x 600 and the user resize it to 1600 x 1200, then the original video size may not be enough and will that cause any issue?
I do sometimes see blinking random pixel region showing on the VPC's screen... maybe it is cause by not enough video RAM size?
From the doc , it said
"For best performance, the majority of your active set should fit in RAM."
So for example, my db.stats() give me
{
"db" : "mydb",
"collections" : 16,
"objects" : 21452,
"avgObjSize" : 768.0516501957859,
"dataSize" : 16476244,
"storageSize" : 25385984,
"numExtents" : 43,
"indexes" : 70,
"indexSize" : 15450112,
"fileSize" : 469762048,
"ok" : 1
}
Which value is the working set size?
Every time the game is about to start it says that I have lost my connection to EA's servers with the following message:
Make sure your network adapter and network cable is plugged in.
Although my connection works perfectly but when it comes to online gaming it messes up everything.
My System specifications:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz
4096MB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Internet connection of 2Mbps
Can you help me to sort it out?
hi guys,
Hi have a prob of load balancing we developed a web app using nearly 1500/- users parallely
so the number of users increased we are unable to serve the requests that much of faster,
its takes around 10 to 20 sec to load a page if page having heavy weight it takes 1min also.
we need to solve this situation and we have to serve each request with in 2 to 3 sec
App develped in : asp.net
hosted in : IIS 7.5
Machine configuration : Windows server 2008
8GB RAM
1MBPS band width
VMware ESXi 4 supports VMI paravirtualization for 32-bit OS but not for 64-bit OS. For performance consideration, is it better to use a 32-bit Ubuntu Server guest without paravirtualization or a 64-bit one with VMI paravirtualization?
Hardware: Core 2 Quad, 8 GB RAM

Is it possible to build a performant cluster for the home based on something like a plug pc:
http://www.marvell.com/platforms/plug_computer/
I realise the Marvell Plug PC is not very powerful but in a couple of years I could imagine them starting to get dual cores and more RAM
I'm looking to pick up a used computer. It is a Phenom 955 + 4 gigs of ram + Crossfire 2x Radeon HD 4770.
How would this Crossfire combo compare to a single video card?
I bought laptop Dell N5110 and installed PES 2012. Nvidia graphics card has 1GB RAM, but when I try to run game message appears that there is just 128MB graphics memory.
Here is the message:
Warning :Your computer does not meet the Minimum System Requirements
to run this software.As a result, you may experience errors during
operation.Your Video Card does not meet the required
specifications.(GPU:VRAM 128MB)
What could be the problem?
Im using windows 7 ultimate 32-bit. With 64-bit processor. Will I get any performance benefits if ever I upgrade to 64-bit windows 7, with the same memory(ram) of 2Gb. The same hdd size 250Gb
I am trying to tune a SQL Server. Per Brent Ozar's Performance Tuning Video, he says the PerfMon's
Paging File:%Usage should be zero or ridiculously close to it. The average metric on my box is around 1.341%
The box has 18 GB of RAM, the SQL Server is off, the Commit Charge Total is 1GB and yet the PerfMon metric is not 0. The Performance of the Task Manager states that PF Usage is 1.23GB.
What should I do to better tune the box?
