  • JQuery dynamic .load - works for 1 and not for the other??

    - by Alvin
    UPDATE: Site is online http://qwickqual.com/memorial/create/ under "Memoria Media" - Click on "Our Videos" and it loads the list of categories click on any sub category and it goes through the process below ---------------- end edit ---------------------------------- UPDATED DESCRIPTION OF ERROR: All code is based on <li> objects being linked If I click on an <li> from the Initial page load to load: section 1: I can click on an <li> to load sub-categories section 2: I then click on an <li>, the query is made server returns section 3, section is not loaded to screen / and callback function is skipped over perhaps someone has run into a similar issue before?? ---------------- end edit ---------------------------------- I've also added comments to the code I have a jquery function that is setup to load categorized lists of thumbnails. So far the function is in use in 3 location. Each of them generates HTML using the same template under django. The function works perfectly in 2 of the 3 locations, and I"m plain stumped as to why the 3rd won't work. Below is the complete set of relevant javascript, the page load HTML for the relevant section. And 2 examples of HTML that is loaded through the script, 1 of them works, 1 of them doesn't and both are loaded into the same page load HTML Any ideas what I'm missing here? Or information I need to add to help debug? Currently posting this to a live server to interact with, been local only till now... • TSQL Cascade delete for child records?

    - by ElHaix
    I have a parent/child table (simple tree) table structure (ID, ParentID), where I want to delete (and get the ID of) all children for a given parent ID - similar to this post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1433808/sql-server-cascade-delete-and-parent-child-table . During the loop, where I've got the current ID, I will also be performing other actions with this ID. Can someone give me an example of the SPROC to accomplish this? Thanks

  • PHP SimpleXML recursive function to list children and attibutes

    - by Phill Pafford
    I need some help on the SimpleXML calls for a recursive function that lists the elements name and attributes. Making a XML config file system but each script will have it's own config file as well as a new naming convention. So what I need is an easy way to map out all the elements that have attributes, so like in example 1 I need a simple way to call all the processes but I don't know how to do this without hard coding the elements name is the function call. Is there a way to recursively call a function to match a child element name? I did see the xpath functionality but I don't see how to use this for attributes. Any ideas? Also does the XML in the examples look correct? can I structure my XML like this? Example 1: <application> <processes> <process id="123" name="run batch A" /> <process id="122" name="run batch B" /> <process id="129" name="run batch C" /> </processes> <connections> <databases> <database usr="test" pss="test" hst="test" dbn="test" /> </databases> <shells> <ssh usr="test" pss="test" hst="test-2" /> <ssh usr="test" pss="test" hst="test-1" /> </shells> </connections> </application> Example 2: <config> <queues> <queue id="1" name="test" /> <queue id="2" name="production" /> <queue id="3" name="error" /> </queues> </config> Pseudo code: // Would return matching process id getProcess($process_id) { return the process attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching DBN (database name) getDatabase($database_name) { return the database attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching SSH Host getSSHHost($ssh_host) { return the ssh attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching SSH User getSSHUser($ssh_user) { return the ssh attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching Queue getQueue($queue_id) { return the queue attributes as array that are in the XML } EDIT: Can I pass two parms? on the first method you have suggested @Gordon public function findProcessById($id, $name) { $attr = false; $el = $this->xml->xpath("//process[@id='$id']"); // How do I also filter by the name? if($el && count($el) === 1) { $attr = (array) $el[0]->attributes(); $attr = $attr['@attributes']; } return $attr; }

  • jquery accordion - set input focus for active accordion?

    - by KnockKnockWhosThere
    *Nevermind... figured it out... * did it like this: $("#accordion").accordion({ header:'h3', active: '#section1', autoheight: false, clearstyle: true, }).bind("change.ui-accordion", function(event,ui) { $("#text1").focus(); }); I've got an accordion all set up, and each div has a form within it. I'm just trying to figure out how to set the focus on an input field depending on which one is open... /* accordion */ $("#accordion").accordion({ header:'h3', active: '#section1', autoheight: false, clearstyle: true }); Basically, I want to set the cursor in the first input field for whichever section is open. The actual forms are much bigger, so I condensed it enormously... <div id="accordion"> <h3 id="section1"><a href="#">Section 1/a></h3> <div> <form id="form1" action="form.php" method="post"> <fieldset class="inside"> <input type="text" name="text1" id="text1" size="50" value="Default text" /> <input class="open" type="button" value="Submit" name="submit1" /> </fieldset> </form> </div><!--/div--> <h3 id="section2"><a href="#">Section 2</a></h3> <div> <form id="form2" action="form.php" method="post"> <fieldset class="inside"> <input type="text" name="text2" id="text2" size="50" value="Submit" /> <input class="open" type="button" value="Submit" name="submit2" /> </fieldset> </form> </div><!--/div--> <h3 id="section3"><a href="#">Section 3</a></h3> <div> <form id="form3" action="form.php" method="post"> <fieldset class="inside"> <input type="text" name="text3" id="text3" size="50" value="Submit" /> <input class="open" type="button" value="Submit" name="submit3" /> </fieldset> </form> </div><!--/div-->

  • jquery.ui sortable using a table and item:tr , placeholder difficulties

    - by greg
    Hi I would really like to give some sortable goodness to the myriad old tables I have created. A little work has a proof of concept behaving ok. My one sticking point is that the placeholder does not work at all in IE 7 when using item:TR . It works OK in FF. I can make an perform correctly. It seems to be specific to tables and Any ideas, I have been running through forums, not seeing a lot of people using sortable with tables. <style type="text/css"> .dndPlaceHolder { background-color:Red ; color:Red; height: 20px; line-height:30px; border: solid 2px black; } .dndItem { background-color: #c0c0c0; border:solid 1px black; padding:5px; } </style> <script type="text/javascript" > $(function() { $("#myTable").sortable( { placeholder:'dndPlaceHolder', distance:15, items:'tr', forcePlaceholderSize:true, change : dndChange, update : dndUpdate } ); $("#myTable").disableSelection(); $("#myList").sortable( { placeholder:'dndPlaceHolder', distance:15, items:'li', forcePlaceholderSize:true, change : dndChange, update : dndUpdate } ); $("#myList").disableSelection(); }); function dndChange(event,ui){ } function dndUpdate(event,ui){ var msg = ''; } </script> <table id='myTable' > <tr class='dndItem' id='1'> <td>0 Active - Active</td> </tr> <tr class='dndItem' id='2'> <td>1 Closed - Closed</td> </tr> <tr class='dndItem' id='3'> <td>2 OnHold - On Hold</td> </tr> <tr class='dndItem' id='4'> <td>3 Pending - Pending</td> </tr> </table> <BR> <UL id='myList' > <li class='dndItem' id='1'>0 Active - Active</li> <li class='dndItem' id='2'>1 Closed - Closed</li> <li class='dndItem' id='3'>2 OnHold - On Hold</li> <li class='dndItem' id='4'>3 Pending - Pending</li> </ul>

  • Nhibernate one-to-many with table per subclass

    - by Wayne
    I am customizing N2CMS's database structure, and met with an issue. The two classes are listed below. public class Customer : ContentItem { public IList<License> Licenses { get; set; } } public class License : ContentItem { public Customer Customer { get; set; } } The nhibernate mapping are as follows. <class name="N2.ContentItem,N2" table="n2item"> <cache usage="read-write" /> <id name="ID" column="ID" type="Int32" unsaved-value="0" access="property"> <generator class="native" /> </id> <discriminator column="Type" type="String" /> </class> <subclass name="My.Customer,My" extends="N2.ContentItem,N2" discriminator-value="Customer"> <join table="Customer"> <key column="ItemID" /> <bag name="Licenses" generic="true" inverse="true"> <key column="CustomerID" /> <one-to-many class="My.License,My"/> </bag> </join> </subclass> <subclass name="My.License,My" extends="N2.ContentItem,N2" discriminator-value="License"> <join table="License" fetch="select"> <key column="ItemID" /> <many-to-one name="Customer" column="CustomerID" class="My.Customer,My" not-null="false" /> </join> </subclass> Then, when get an instance of Customer, the customer.Licenses is always empty, but actually there are licenses in the database for the customer. When I check the nhibernate log file, I find that the SQL query is like: SELECT licenses0_.CustomerID as CustomerID1_, licenses0_.ID as ID1_, licenses0_.ID as ID2_0_, licenses0_1_.CustomerID as CustomerID7_0_, FROM n2item licenses0_ inner join License licenses0_1_ on licenses0_.ID = licenses0_1_.ItemID WHERE licenses0_.CustomerID = 12 /* @p0 */ It seems that nhibernate believes that the CustomerID is in the 'n2item' table. I don't know why, but to make it work, I think the SQL should be something like this. SELECT licenses0_.ID as ID1_, licenses0_.ID as ID2_0_, licenses0_1_.CustomerID as CustomerID7_0_, FROM n2item licenses0_ inner join License licenses0_1_ on licenses0_.ID = licenses0_1_.ItemID WHERE licenses0_1_.CustomerID = 12 /* @p0 */ Could any one point out what's wrong with my mappings? And how can I get the correct licenses of one customer? Thanks in advance.

If the ID is not assigned, explicitly set the ID property of controls that raise postback events to avoid this error. So the pager does not work correctly. I think it's because of the Image's Id that has to be generated dinamically but i don't know how to do it. Can someone help me?

  • ISQLQuery using AddJoin not loading related instance

    - by Remi Despres-Smyth
    I've got a problem using an ISQLQuery with an AddJoin. The entity I'm trying to return is RegionalFees, which has a composite-id which includes a Province instance. (This is the the instance being improperly loaded.) Here's the mapping: <class name="Project.RegionalFees, Project" table="tblRegionalFees"> <composite-id name="Id" class="Project.RegionalFeesId, project" unsaved-value="any" access="property"> <key-many-to-one class="Project.Province, Project" name="Region" access="property" column="provinceId" not-found="exception" /> <key-property name="StartDate" access="property" column="startDate" type="DateTime" /> </composite-id> <property name="SomeFee" column="someFee" type="Decimal" /> <property name="SomeOtherFee" column="someOtherFee" type="Decimal" /> <!-- Other unrelated stuff --> </class> <class name="Project.Province, Project" table="trefProvince" mutable="false"> <id name="Id" column="provinceId" type="Int64" unsaved-value="0"> <generator class="identity" /> </id> <property name="Code" column="code" access="nosetter.pascalcase-m-underscore" /> <property name="Label" column="label" access="nosetter.pascalcase-m-underscore" /> </class> Here's my query method: public IEnumerable<RegionalFees> GetRegionalFees() { // Using an ISQLQuery cause there doesn't appear to be an equivalent of // the SQL HAVING clause, which would be optimal for loading this set const String qryStr = "SELECT * " + "FROM tblRegionalFees INNER JOIN trefProvince " + "ON tblRegionalFees.provinceId=trefProvince.provinceId " + "WHERE EXISTS ( " + "SELECT provinceId, MAX(startDate) AS MostRecentFeesDate " + "FROM tblRegionalFees InnerRF " + "WHERE tblRegionalFees.provinceId=InnerRF.provinceId " + "AND startDate <= ? " + "GROUP BY provinceId " + "HAVING tblRegionalFees.startDate=MAX(startDate))"; var qry = NHibernateSessionManager.Instance.GetSession().CreateSQLQuery(qryStr); qry.SetDateTime(0, DateTime.Now); qry.AddEntity("RegFees", typeof(RegionalFees)); qry.AddJoin("Region", "RegFees.Id.Region"); return qry.List<RegionalFees>(); } The odd behavior here is that when I call GetRegionalFees (whose goal is to load just the most recent fee instances per region), it all loads fine if the Province instance is a proxy. If, however, Province is not loaded as a transparent proxy, the Province instance which is part of RegionalFees' RegionalFeesId property has null Code and Region values, although the Id value is set correctly. It looks to me like I have a problem in how I'm joining the Province class - since if it's lazy loaded the id is set from tblRegionalFees, and it gets loaded independently afterwards - but I haven't been able to figure out the solution.

  • jquery selector problem with script tags

    - by Tauren
    I'm attempting to select all <script type="text/html"> tags in a page. I use <script> tags to store HTML templates, similar to how John Resig does it. For some reason, the following jquery selector doesn't seem to be selecting anything: $("script[type*=html]").each(function() { alert("Found script "+this.id); }); This markup is in the BODY of the HTML document: <body> <script id="filter-search" type="text/html"> <dt>Search</dt> <dd><input type="text"/></dd> </script> </body> I've also tried putting it into the HEAD of the HTML document, and it is still not found. No alert is ever shown. If I instead change my code to this: $("script[type*=javascript]").each(function() { alert("Found script "+this.id); }); Then it finds only the scripts in the HEAD that have a src to an external file. Scripts in the actual page are not found. For instance, with the following in HEAD: <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js" id="jquery"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-ui.js" id="ui"></script> <script type="text/javascript" id="custom"> $(document).ready( function() { $("script[type*=javascript]").each(function() { alert("Found script "+this.id); }); $("script[type*=html]").each(function() { alert("Found TEMPLATE script "+this.id); }); }); </script> <script id="filter-test" type="text/html"> <dt>Test</dt> </script> </head> <body> <script id="filter-search" type="text/html"> <dt>Search</dt> <dd><input type="text"/></dd> </script> </body> I get the following alerts: Found script jquery Found script ui The custom and filter-test scripts in the HEAD are not selected, nor is the filter-search script in the body tag. Is this the expected behavior? Why does this not work? I can work around it, but it is annoying that it doesn't work.

  • jquery sortable item cached? #sortable items: '.class1' filter is not working when class is changed

    - by liz
    hello everyone, i came across a weird problem today: i created a sortable list of divs. each div has a class="class1" and items is set to 'class1' (see below simplified code). each div has an a href link that calls a function toggleLock. this function replaces class="class1" with class="locked" for that div. for example: will become the problem is: even though #sortable is set to "make" only items with class="class1" sortable, replacing the class still allows to be sortable. seems like item class is cached at some point. i've tried to refresh #sortable ($('#sortable').sortable("refreshPosition") and $('#sortable').sortable("");), but that didn't work. i've tried both ways of replacing the class: attr('class','lock') and removeClass(), then addClass(). still is sortable. if class is not changed dynamically, but loads into DOM as , then it's not sortable as expected. why wouldn't replacement of the class from class1 to locked prevent that div from being sortable? am i missing something? sample code: <div id="sortable"> <div class="class1" id="1"> <div class="sortHandle">....</div> <href="javascript:void(null);" onclick="toggleLock($(this).attr('id').replace('R',''));" id="R1">lock</a> <p>This is item 1</p> </div> <div class="class1" id="2"> <div class="sortHandle"></div> <href="javascript:void(null);" onclick="toggleLock($(this).attr('id').replace('R',''));" id="R2">lock</a> <p>This is item 2</p> </div> <div class="class1" id="3"> <div class="sortHandle"></div> <href="javascript:void(null);" onclick="toggleLock($(this).attr('id').replace('R',''));" id="R3">lock</a> <p>This is item 3</p> </div> </div> js: $(function() { $("#sortable").sortable({ items: '.class1', handle: '.sortHandle', cursor: 'move', start: function(e,ui) { el = e.target; startPos = ui.item.prevAll().length+1; }, update: function(event, ui) { data = $('.class1').sortable('toArray'); newPos = ui.item.prevAll().length+1; alert("position: "+startPos+"; newposition: "+newPos); } }).disableSelection(); });

  • Convert flyout menu to respond onclick vs mouseover

    - by Scott B
    The code below creates a nifty flyout menu action on a nested list item sequence. The client has called and wants the change the default behavior in which the flyouts are triggered by mouseover, so that you have to click to trigger a flyout. Ideally, I would just like to modify this code so that you click on a small icon (plus/minus) that sits to the right of the menu item if it has child menus. Can someone give me a bit of guidance on what bits I'd need to change to accomplish this? /* a few sniffs to circumvent known browser bugs */ var sUserAgent = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); var isIE=document.all?true:false; • DataContractSerializer and XSLT not Serializing Class Properties

    - by Russ Clark
    I've written a simple Employee class that I'm trying to serialize to an XDocument and then use XSLT to transform the document to a page that displays both the properties (Name and ID) from the Employee class, and an html form with 2 radio buttons (Approve and Reject) and a submit button. Here is the Employee class: [Serializable, DataContract(Namespace="XSLT_MVC.Controllers/")] public class Employee { [DataMember] public string Name { get; set; } [DataMember] public int ID { get; set; } public Employee() { } public Employee(string name, int id) { Name = name; ID = id; } public XDocument GetDoc() { XDocument doc = new XDocument(); var serializer = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(Employee)); using (var writer = doc.CreateWriter()) { serializer.WriteObject(writer, this); writer.Close(); } return doc; } } And here is the XSLT file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" > <xsl:output method="html" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <html> <body> <xsl:value-of select="Employee/Name"/> <br /> <xsl:value-of select="Employee/ID"/> <br /> <form method="post" action="/Home/ProcessRequest?id={Employee/ID}"> <input id="Action" name="Action" type="radio" value="Approved"></input> Approved <br /> <input id="Action" name="Action" type="radio" value="Rejected"></input> Rejected <br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit"></input> </form> </body> </html> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> When I run this, all I get is the html form with the 2 radio buttons and the submit button, but not the properties from the Employee class. I saw a separate StackOverflow post that said I need to change the <xsl:template match="/"> to match on the namespace of my Employee class like this: <xsl:template match="/XSLT_MVC.Controllers"> but when I do that, now all I get are the Employee properties, and not the html form with the 2 radio buttons and the submit button. Does anyone know what needs to be done so that my transform will select and display both the Employee properties and the html form?

  • Scriptaculous Draggable/Droppable script not working properly when dragging into a scrolling div

    - by George
    I am using the Scriptaculous Draggable/Droppable scripts and have a problem when dragging into a scrolling div. I have the following layout (based on this question): #grid-container { left:33px; position:relative; width:300px; } #grid { width:310px; height:400px; overflow:auto; margin-bottom: 15px; } #grid-container ul { width:400px; list-style-type:none; white-space: nowrap; } #grid-container li { display:inline; list-style-type:none; padding:5px 15px 5px 15px; height:88px; text-align:center } .image-row { margin-left: 10px; } .grid-image { height:50px; margin-left:-20px; } Here is the html: <div id="grid-container"> <div id="grid"> <div id="row1" class="image-row"> <ul> <li><img id="img1" class="grid-image" src="images/img1.jpg"></li> <li><img id="img2" class="grid-image" src="images/img2.jpg"></li> <li><img id="img3" class="grid-image" src="images/img3.jpg"></li> <li><img id="img4" class="grid-image" src="images/img4.jpg"></li> </ul> </div> <div id="row2" class="image-row"> <ul> <li><img id="img5" class="grid-image" src="images/img5.jpg"></li> <li><img id="img6" class="grid-image" src="images/img6.jpg"></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> I have another div with draggable items, while all of the img elements are droppable. This works very well for most cases, but when there are too many images for the grid and it has to scroll, I run into issues. I can still drag/drop into most items in that div, but when I scroll down and then try to drag onto an item in the bottom of the list, it drops on the row that was at the bottom before I scrolled the div. Even if I set the scroll attribute when creating the Draggable items, it will scroll the grid div, but not use the proper Droppable item. Is there any way to make the Draggable items drop onto the proper Droppable element regardless of if the containing div is scrolled or not?

  • Delphi interface cast using TValue

    - by conciliator
    I've recently experimented extensively with interfaces and D2010 RTTI. I don't know at runtime the actual type of the interface; although I will have access to it's qualified name using a string. Consider the following: program rtti_sb_1; {$APPTYPE CONSOLE} uses SysUtils, Rtti, TypInfo, mynamespace in 'mynamespace.pas'; var ctx: TRttiContext; InterfaceType: TRttiType; Method: TRttiMethod; ActualParentInstance: IParent; ChildInterfaceValue: TValue; ParentInterfaceValue: TValue; begin ctx := TRttiContext.Create; // Instantiation ActualParentInstance := TChild.Create as IParent; {$define WORKAROUND} {$ifdef WORKAROUND} InterfaceType := ctx.GetType(TypeInfo(IParent)); InterfaceType := ctx.GetType(TypeInfo(IChild)); {$endif} // Fetch interface type InterfaceType := ctx.FindType('mynamespace.IParent'); // This cast is OK and ChildMethod is executed (ActualParentInstance as IChild).ChildMethod(100); // Create a TValue holding the interface TValue.Make(@ActualParentInstance, InterfaceType.Handle, ParentInterfaceValue); InterfaceType := ctx.FindType('mynamespace.IChild'); // This cast doesn't work if ParentInterfaceValue.TryCast(InterfaceType.Handle, ChildInterfaceValue) then begin Method := InterfaceType.GetMethod('ChildMethod'); if (Method <> nil) then begin Method.Invoke(ChildInterfaceValue, [100]); end; end; ReadLn; end. The contents of mynamespace.pas is as follows: {$M+} IParent = interface ['{2375F59E-D432-4D7D-8D62-768F4225FFD1}'] procedure ParentMethod(const Id: integer); end; {$M-} IChild = interface(IParent) ['{6F89487E-5BB7-42FC-A760-38DA2329E0C5}'] procedure ChildMethod(const Id: integer); end; TParent = class(TInterfacedObject, IParent) public procedure ParentMethod(const Id: integer); end; TChild = class(TParent, IChild) public procedure ChildMethod(const Id: integer); end; For completeness, the implementation goes as procedure TParent.ParentMethod(const Id: integer); begin WriteLn('ParentMethod executed. Id is ' + IntToStr(Id)); end; procedure TChild.ChildMethod(const Id: integer); begin WriteLn('ChildMethod executed. Id is ' + IntToStr(Id)); end; The reason for {$define WORKAROUND} may be found in this post. Question: is there any way for me to make the desired type cast using RTTI? In other words: is there a way for me to invoke IChild.ChildMethod from knowing 1) the qualified name of IChild as a string, and 2) a reference to the TChild instance as a IParent interface? (After all, the hard-coded cast works fine. Is this even possible?) Thanks!

  • Unique Constraint Nhibernate.

    - by Will
    I have a object with a Nhibernate mapping that has a surrogate ID and a natual ID. Since of cource the natural ID is uniquely constrained a insert query will fail if the object is already in the database with the same natural ID. My solution for this has been to manually check to see if natural IDs are in the database before trying to insert. Is there a way to specify Nhibernate to do a select before insert on natural Id's/Unique Constraints?

  • Comparing two large sets of attributes

    - by andyashton
    Suppose you have a Django view that has two functions: The first function renders some XML using a XSLT stylesheet and produces a div with 1000 subelements like this: <div id="myText"> <p id="p1"><a class="note-p1" href="#" style="display:none" target="bot">?</a></strong>Lorem ipsum</p> <p id="p2"><a class="note-p2" href="#" style="display:none" target="bot">?</a></strong>Foo bar</p> <p id="p3"><a class="note-p3" href="#" style="display:none" target="bot">?</a></strong>Chocolate peanut butter</p> (etc for 1000 lines) <p id="p1000"><a class="note-p1000" href="#" style="display:none" target="bot">?</a></strong>Go Yankees!</p> </div> The second function renders another XML document using another stylesheet to produce a div like this: <div id="myNotes"> <p id="n1"><cite class="note-p1"><sup>1</sup><span>Trololo</span></cite></p> <p id="n2"><cite class="note-p1"><sup>2</sup><span>Trololo</span></cite></p> <p id="n3"><cite class="note-p2"><sup>3</sup><span>lololo</span></cite></p> (etc for n lines) <p id="n"><cite class="note-p885"><sup>n</sup><span>lololo</span></cite></p> </div> I need to see which elements in #myText have classes that match elements in #myNotes, and display them. I can do this using the following jQuery: $('#myText').find('a').each(function() { var $anchor = $(this); $('#myNotes').find('cite').each(function() { if($(this).attr('class') == $anchor.attr('class')) { $anchor.show(); }); }); However this is incredibly slow and inefficient for a large number of comparisons. What is the fastest/most efficient way to do this - is there a jQuery/js method that is reasonable for a large number of items? Or do I need to reengineer the Django code to do the work before passing it to the template?

If I try to retrieve the list of building names and arch. styles there is no problem: SELECT buildings.name, arch_styles.style_name FROM buildings INNER JOIN buildings_arch_styles ON buildings.id = buildings_arch_styles.building_id INNER JOIN arch_styles ON arch_styles.id = buildings_arch_styles.arch_style_id LIMIT 0, 10 My problem starts on retreaving the first 5 tags for every building of the query I've just wrote. SELECT DISTINCT name FROM tags INNER JOIN buildings_tags ON buildings_tags.tag_id = tags.id AND buildings_tags.building_id = 123 LIMIT 0, 5 The query itself works perfectly, but not where I thought to use it: <?php // pdo connection allready active, i'm using mysql $pdo_conn->setAttribute(PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_USE_BUFFERED_QUERY, true); $sql = "SELECT buildings.name, buildings.id, arch_styles.style_name FROM buildings INNER JOIN buildings_arch_styles ON buildings.id = buildings_arch_styles.building_id INNER JOIN arch_styles ON arch_styles.id = buildings_arch_styles.arch_style_id LIMIT 0, 10"; $buildings_stmt = $pdo_conn->prepare ($sql); $buildings_stmt->execute (); $buildings = $buildings_stmt->fetchAll (PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); $sql = "SELECT DISTINCT name FROM tags INNER JOIN buildings_tags ON buildings_tags.tag_id = tags.id AND buildings_tags.building_id = :building_id LIMIT 0, 5"; $tags_stmt = $pdo_conn->prepare ($sql); $html = "<table>"; // i'll use it to print my table foreach ($buildings as $building) { $name = $building["name"]; $style = $building["style_name"]; $id = $building["id"]; $tags_stmt->bindParam (":building_id", $id, PDO::PARAM_INT); $tags_stmt->execute (); // the problem is HERE $tags = $tags_stmt->fetchAll (PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); $html .= "... $name ... $style"; foreach ($tags as $current_tag) { $tag = $current_tag["name"]; $html .= "... $tag ..."; // let's suppose this is an area of the table where I print the first 5 tags per building } } $html .= "...</table>"; print $html; I'm not experienced on queries, so i though something like this, but it throws the error: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 2014 Cannot execute queries while other unbuffered queries are active. Consider using PDOStatement::fetchAll(). Alternatively, if your code is only ever going to run against mysql, you may enable query buffering by setting the PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_USE_BUFFERED_QUERY attribute. What can I do to avoid this? Should I change all and search a different way to get this kind of queries?

  • does it makes sense to use int instead of char or nvarchar for a discriminator column if I'm using i

    - by Omu
    I have something like this: create table account ( id int identity(1,1) primary key, usertype char(1) check(usertype in ('a', 'b')) not null, unique(id, usertype) ) create table auser ( id int primary key, usertype char(1) check(usertype = 'a') not null, foreign key (id, usertype) references account(id, usertype) ) create table buser ( ... same just with b ) the question is: if I'm going to use int instead of char(1), does it going to work faster/better ?
