It is supposed to deny remote login when SSH is not present. In the file /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini I tried to change the [global] section by adding "ip=127.0.0.1" and it didn't work.

  • LAMP setup - phpmyadmin says the mysqli extension is missing (but its listed in phpinfo)

    I regularly set up virtualbox ubuntu setups to run as local webservers. I have set these up several times and never had an issue. Recently I have been cloning them but wanted to do a fresh install this time in the hopes of fixing some niggling problems which have propagated through my setups. However, something has changed: 1)vb guest additions no longer allow me to copy and paste (i'll worry about that later) 2)more importantly phpmyadmin no longer works as installed - Initially going to localhost/phpmyadmin gave a message that the page could not be found. So I have followed some instructions (sorry I know its vague I cant find them now) which have created a phpmyadmin directory in /var/www but now I get an error saying: the mysqli extension is missing. If I run phpinfo mysql and mysqli are listed. All I have done so far is install apache2 (working) install php5 (which I think used to come with apache) Install mysql server (and client for good measure) and install phpmyadmin I found a post of a similar question which suggested I should install php5-mysql (done) and edit php.ini and uncomment the line extension-mysqli.so - this is not there, so I tried adding it with no joy. I have restarted apache and still no joy on phpmyadmin. Any help is much appreciated as this is driving me nuts. Why the change for the worse - I was just starting to like linux! I'm running a windows 7 machine and the guest os is ubuntu 12.04 - I ran apt-get update before doing anything so all packages should be the latest versions.

    Yesterday Google released an updated Gmail application for Android 2.2 phones that supports the Priority Inbox feature—and more importantly, allows you to change your notifications to only alert you for important email. I have installed POSTFIX and set it up to work with GMAIL (I hope correctly) My little test program appears to send the email but it does not arrive at destination. Is there some special code for SMTP or something else needed to install? Please can you give me step by step instructions of what must be installed.     I am building a one click game website/mobile app, and I am debating between using MySQL and MongoDB for the backend. The way I have been exploring it is with a NodeJS/Express/Angular/Passport/MongoDB stack - I have also implemented Socket.io. I have gotten to the point where I am sending data from the flash game to the server (NodeJS). The only data that needs to be sent is basic user information, the players score at the end of each game, and some x,y positions for each players game (for anti-cheating). It seems like MySQL would work fine, but as I am already using MongoDB - are there any major drawbacks to continuing to work with MongoDB on this project?

    I have an PerfectPrivacy VPN connected via the OpenVPN-Network-Manger-Plugin (Ubuntu 12.04.1) and I want to assign a system wide proxy over that VPN. I have tried proxydriver that should do that automatically, but it works partially. The browser says that I have the IP of the VPN, but when I tried to send an eMail over SMTP (Port 25), I can´t connect to the mail server. In our company the smtp server port is closed, but that should be not a problem, when I do that over a VPN, shouldn´t it? greetings

    I'm going to be installing Visual Studio 2010. I already have my source code on the SSD. For best performance, especially time to open the solution and compiling time, would it be better to install VS 2010 on the SSD or install it on the HDD. If both were on the SSD, loading the VS 2010 files would be quicker, but there would be contention between loading the source and the program files. Thanks!

  • trying to setup multiple primary partitions on ubuntu linux

    I currently have ubuntu desktop installed on a harddrive. I want to partition the harddrive so that I can reserve 30 gigs for ubuntu server and 30 gigs for ubuntu desktop. The drive has 300 gigs available. Right now I am booting from dvd drive and installing ubuntu server. I selected "Guided partitioning" and created a 30 gig primary partition of Ext4 journaling filesystem, set "yes, format it" for format partition and set bootable flag to on. I intend to use this 30 gig partition to hold ubuntu server and allow me to boot from it. Now I have two other partitions. They are both set to "logical", one is currently using 285.8 gigs and is using ext4 (when I try to set bootable flag to true, it gives a warning "You are trying to set the bootable flag on a logical partition. The bootable flag is only useful on the primary partitions"). More alarming it says "No existing file system was detected in this partition". Actually, Im thinking that this is the parittion that is supposed to be holding my current Ubuntu Desktop. And of course I want this to be bootable and be a primary partition, so I could dual boot from this and the server partition. Now the third partition is also set to logical and it is being used as swap area. My question is regarding that second partition. Its supposed to be a primary partition thats holding my existing ubuntu desktop edition. How do I switch it to primary and to make sure that its pointing to my existing desktop installation?
