    I wanted to align a newsticker about 300px above it's current position , but I am unable to do so. Please help.   • Using system time directly to get random numbers

    I had to return a random element from an array so I came up with this placeholder: return codes[(int) (System.currentTimeMillis() % codes.length - 1)]; Now than I think of it, I'm tempted to use it in real code. The Random() seeder uses system time as seed in most languages anyway, so why not use that time directly? As a bonus, I'm free from the worry of non-random lower bits of many RNGs. It this hack coming back to bite me? (The language is Java if that's relevant.)

  • How to show the animation without exposing the code?

    There's an animation done in jQuery within jsfiddle. I do not have a website as of now to "implant" it and share the URL. I also can't give the jsfiddle. So how can I share my animation to the audience without showing the code? Does github or any other facility tools allow locking the code and showing the final product without having a website, yet I could get a URL for the audience to view it? I regret for the rookie-question in this context as I am still new to web stuff. EDIT: jsFiddle shows 3 code windows along the results :html, css, js. My requirement is to only show the results window to the audience and by all means to hide codes and leads via URL to the codes. Ideal solution demands a results to be shown and URL that is encrypted (at best).

    Today, I went for an interview and the interviewer asked me how I would find the index of a given value (number) in a pre-sorted array like this: $preSortedArr=array(23,32,36,41,45,54); He also said that using recursion is not allowed. I think the function should look like this: function findIndexByValue($preSortedArray,$value){ //some codes here } What solution do you think he was expecting from me? EDIT: sorry, I forgot to add that, he originally asked me to write psuedo codes but I said I don't know. I tried to write in PHP, but I think he's expecting a language-independent solution.

    I have a table of cities that all share the same area code: 367 01451 Harvard Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern 368 01452 Hubbardston Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern 369 01453 Leominster Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern The table has multiple area codes, all with multiple cities. What I'd like to do is only select one city from each area code and delete any extra cities from duplicate area codes. What would be the best query to accomplish this?     Suppose I have a list of #defines in a header file for an external library. These #defines represent error codes returned from functions. I want to write a conversion function that can take as an input an error code and return as an output a string literal representing the actual #define name. As an example, if I have #define NO_ERROR 0 #define ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR 1 #define ANOTHER_KIND_OF_ERROR 2 I would like a function to be able to called like int errorCode = doSomeLibraryFunction(); if (errorCode) writeToLog(convertToString(errorCode)); And have convertToString() be able to auto-convert that error code without being a giant switch-case looking like const char* convertToString(int errorCode) { switch (errorCode) { case NO_ERROR: return "NO_ERROR"; case ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR: return "ONE_KIND_OF_ERROR"; ... ... ... I have a feeling that if this is possible, it would be possible using templates and metaprogramming, but that would only work the error codes were actually a type and not a bunch of processor macros.     I want to know why some ad codes or embed codes don't directly give you iframe code to embed on your site instead they give a javascript code which links to another javascript file on their server. The file on their server calls the iframe which serves the content. Why is this done and what are the benefits of this method. Example: this is the code issued by amazon: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/s/ads.js"></script> Which opens another javascript file that calls the iframe.

However, the text's and color's change is reflected after the calculation is executed (and before the animation begins) however I want to reflect the changes immediately before calculation (as you guess it is a waiting text) How can I achieve this?
