  • Internet connection very slow after Linksys configuration

    Hello We have this network setup Server1 - DHCP server, Domain Controller, AD Lease line for Internet connection From lease line to Linksys router (we dont use wireless though) From linksys to Netgear (24 port Switch) and vonage (VoIP) Netgear to all our machines We configured Linsys with the static IP and DNS server addresses our ISP gave and we have routed it correctly. All our work machines are configured with Get IP automatically DNS server addresses our ISP gave The problem is that none of the sites are getting opened promptly. It is taking around 5 minutes to load google.com. But we are able to ping all the sites. What could be the problem?

  • Linux apache developing configuration

    Recenly reinstalled my system, and came to a point where I need apache and php. I've been searching a long time, but I can't figure out how to configure apache the best way for a developer computer. The plan is simple, I want to install apache 2 + mysql server so I can develop some php website. I don't want to install lamp though, just the apache2, php5 and mysql. The problem that I've been looking an answer for is the permissions on the /var/www/ folder. I've tried making it my folder using the chown command, followed by a chmod -R 755 /var/www. Most things work then, but fwrite for example won't work, because I need to give write permissions to everyone, unless I change my global umask to 000 I'm not sure what I can do. In short: I want to install apache2, php5, mysql-server without using lamp, but configured in a way so I can open up netbeans, start a project with root in /var/www/, and run every single function without permission faults. Does anyone have experiences or workarounds to this? Extra: OS: Ubuntu 10.04 ARCH: x86_64

The CCMSetup makes it to the PC, files are there, it gets added to the services for automatic start, it starts, but quits almost instantly.     Given a proper Office 2003 CD, is it possible to extract just the files that are needed for one application... i.e. Word or Excel? Browsing the CD, you can see WORD11.MSI. The goal here is to extract just the necessary bits to install the one app. Disk space isn't the concern, but rather the larger question of 'is it possible' and how? Is it possible to copy those files from the CD to another location to allow the installation of just one application? What files would be required from the CD to accomplish this?

    I have the following setup: I have configured high availability between two load balancers (HAProxy) so that if HAProxy1 get down, the floating IP gets transferred to the other load balancer HAProxy2, hence all the clients will get the response from HAProxy2, which at the back-end is doing LB among the sme two webserver. This is for removing the single point of failure in case of only one HAProxy. Whenever I stops the hearbeat in HAProxy1, the floating IP goes to HAProxy2. But I want to configure such that whenever the process haproxy goes down, the floating IP should get assigned to HAProxy2. Can someone tell me how to implement it ?

  • Changing linksys router configuration from command-line

    I am constantly logged into (ssh'd) my home machine (ubuntu) from various remote locations. Sometimes I would like to change my home linksys router settings (change the port forwarding settings or disable/enable wireless, things like that). When I try and use the links2 text browser, there isn't much I can do because the tab titles don't show up (presumably because they are pictures?). Is there another way of configuring a linksys router from a command line? I guess my only other option is to set up a proxy on my home machine and use a browser connected to that proxy to configure it, but I would think there might be a non-browser way of doing it. Thanks

    I'm trying to install a program on a Windows 7 machine, but in the end of the installation process, when I press "Finish", I get an error message saying: Actrix.exe - System Error The program can't start because GX6050R.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. I have tried reinstalling the program, restarting the computer (before reinstalling) etc., but I can't get this to work. The sites I find when I Google this suggest I download some "Error repair tool" (not happening). Any clues as to how I can fix this?

  • Preparing a new physical system with VMWare

    I need to create a new installation of Windows, but at the same time I need this computer. So I decided to create a new physical disk from within VMWare, install windows/drivers/software and then just replace the HDD in the computer. I've bought a new HDD, split it into two partions and installed Windows 7 using the VMWare's ability to use phusical disks. I can see the windows files and directories that have been created on this partition, but when I'm replacing the HDD in the host machine it cannot boot from it. Why is that? Is it at all possible to create a bootable physical disk with VMWare or I should create a virtual disk and then use some HDD imaging tool to copy the HDD image to a physical disk? Maybe there's a better way of installing a new system and working on the computer at the same time?

    Good afternoon, Windows Server 2012 R2 as host fully up to date Windows Server 2012 R2 as guest fully up to date Whether I am running it as a host or guest, whenever I am installing an application that should take a couple minutes it always ends up 3x-5x longer than it should. If I take the same applications and install it on any other OS (IE 2k8, 7,) it they install very quickly. Dell server management software took 30 minutes or so when it takes 5 minutes or so on 2k8. Even a clean install not joined to domain I still experience this same slowness on applications I attempt to install. So my question to everyone is, are you or anyone else experiencing this? I cannot find anything on google so this is why I am here

  • DNS Problems with .pt configuration

    Hello everyone! I have a hosting service with aplus.net, however I had a need to register a .pt domain, but aplus doesnt have this service, so I contacted a .pt registar, called hostingbug.net, to do this. So now I'm owner of a .pt domain, lets say, example.pt. I gave hostingbug the aplus nameservers needed for propagation. And here began the problems. When hostingbug tried to configure, the following error was displayed: <<>> DiG 9.3.6-P1-RedHat-9.3.6-4.P1.el5_4.2 <<>> @64.29.151.221 click.pt. NS +norecurse (1 server found) global options: printcmd connection timed out no servers could be reached And they told me that aplus.net needed to create a new dns zone for .pt domains. So I contacted aplus.net, and they didnt understand this issue, and told me that everything was fine with their servers, and sent me back to hostingbug. So I'm felling like a ping pong ball right now... How can I configure this "new dns zone" for .pt domains? Anyone have clue of how to do this so I can tell them? Or should I cancel aplus services? I could be an issue with this version (release candidate). Now I am trying to install mysql-5.5.8-winx64 And I have an issue with configuring MySql to work using name pipes I did uncheck use of TCP/IP protocol and configuration wizard just hangs Update: I have found workaround. Once I needed the 8GB stick for another purposes so I thought about coyping it to my desktop doing from mac os x: dd if=/dev/disks3s of=/Users/jack/Desktop/usb_copy Now I am trying to do the opposite, after having used the stick, which was formatted to NTFS, just doing dd if=/Users/jack/Desktop/usb_copy of=/dev/disks3s but although I can see that almost of the files are there, I can not boot again. IT is also strange the the file permissions are kind of strange, something like _user What can I do ? Thanks

    I am researching external HDD's capable or RAID 1 to store a large amount of video content during overseas filming. After filming, the content will be brought back to the office and offloaded onto our storage server. After doing some research, I've found that I can buy an external drive with a built in RAID controller, or I can buy an external drive, with 2 HDD's, that I can configure in a RAID 1 array using the OS. RAID 1 is what we're looking for. I've done some reading on software RAID vs. hardware RAID, but the resources I've found don't discuss performance as it relates to video content or what happens to a software RAID when the computer dies. Question 1: Will the hardware RAID be more performant when dealing with large video files? Question 2: If the mac dies, does my RAID die with it (will my data be accessible on another mac)?

    I have just registered a Windows 2008 VPS hosting account which I plan on running a couple of web sites on. In the past I have just used shared hosting in which everything is set up for me, so need a few pointers. When I register a new domain it asks for a couple of name servers. How do I set this up on my server? Can I just give it the IP address of the VPS server? Do I have to register some web sites with ns1, ns2 host headers in IIS? It's all a bit confusing when never done before. I have two web sites I plan on hosting. I configured both in IIS with a different IP address (the VPS plan has 2) but when trying to access the site via IP it always displays the default web site. If I turn off the default web site it just 404's. Is there any simple tutorials for setting up a couple of sites from scratch.

    I am looking into building a syslog / logging infrastructure and am pondering about some architecture best practices. Essentially, I see that a syslog system needs to support two conflicting workloads: log collection. Potentially massive streams of data need to be written quickly to disks and indexed. log querying. logs will be queried by both fixed fields such as date and source as well as text search. What is the best disk/system setup assuming I'd like to keep it to a single server for now? Should I use SSDs or ramdisk to off-load some processing? some disks in stripe and some in raid5? I am particularly eyeing Graylog2 with ElasticSearch/MongoDB
