  • How would you explain your job to a 5-year old?

    Sometimes it's difficult to define programming to people. Especially too old or too young people can not understand what I do to earn money. They think that I repair computers, or they want to think that I (as an engineer) build computers at work. :) It's really hard to tell people that you produce something they can't touch. Here is a funny question, how would you explain your job to a 5-year-old?

  • Autocomplete problem with scrollbar

    Hi All, I am using autocomplete with scrollbar for my textbox. Autocomplete for touch screen. I can scroll up and down using the mouse wheel but i want to Use the mouse button to scroll up or down by dragging the scroll bar. if i use mouse button it moves the focus away from the text box field. Autocomplete is working only when using the keyboard not with the user defined keys. Geetha

  • UIScrollview : scroll with 2 fingers and not one

    Hello, I have a UIScrollView containing another wiew. This view need to handle single touch event for drawing. For this reason I would like to scroll using 2 fingers. I managed to get this working for 2.x SDK but it's no more working with 3.X series. Do you have idea/workaround for achieving this? Thanks in advance for your help :)

    Hi, I'm helping a friend transfer a site to a new server who uses Actinic to run a small catalogue of items. I've transferred the files over to the new server, but I need to change a few configuration settings for Actinic, as the old server stored files in /public_html But the new one uses /httpdocs Does anyone know which files I need to edit to do this? I can't get in touch with my friend at the moment as he is on holiday. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi First let me start of saying I know absolutely nothing about c++ and I am really just more interested in getting this to work then learning c++(I got enough on my plate to learn). So basically I am trying to make a terms of service for my windows mobile 6 professional application but it seems I need to use c++ to do it. After hours of searching I found a solution but it developed for windows mobile standard. So they somehow used c++ to make a message box and on standard devices(ie non touch screen phones) the message box can have like scrolling. For some reason this is not the case with professional devices(touch screen devices). So my message box goes off the page and you can never accept or decline the terms.   • SVN: Prevent a newer client from upgrading a working copy's SVN version?

    Is it possible to prevent a newer SVN client (say 1.6) from automatically upgrading a working copy that was checked out with an older client (say 1.4 or 1.5)? I find that as soon as I touch a working copy with a newer client, anyone using an older client to work with the same files can no longer do so (for obvious reasons). Assuming requiring everyone to upgrade their SVN clients isn't an option, is there a configuration setting or flag I can set to prevent my newer client from making this change?

  • What is the difference between deploying to com+/MTS using regsvr32?

    We have a legacy VB6 component that was com+/MTS and is used by asp classic. Staff is having trouble with deployment. Would there be any harm in just using regsvr32 to register the DLL, which will be used by IIS? Alternatively---I won't touch COM+ with a 10 foot pole--so is there a suitable one line command to register a VB6 component with COM+/MTS using a 11 foot pole? My google fu is failing me.

I didn't think it would be hard to do, considering everything I've seen on low-level hooks, but I was wrong (astounding, right?).   • Protect Files from Git

    I'm using Git with WindRiver to manage a project of mine. The code is being managed, however the project files (such as .cproject, .project, .wrmakefile, and .wrproject) are not. However when I switch branches, Git deletes those files spite them being in .gitignore, thereby removing my ability to compile the code without having to revert commits or keeping a backup. So, is there a way to say to Git - ignore these files and don't touch them no matter what?
