  • Cuda program results are always zero in HW, correct in EMU??

    - by Orion Nebula
Hi all! I am having a weird problem .. I have written a CUDA code which executes correctly in emulation and all results show up.. however, when executed on hardware "G210" .. the results in the result memory are always 0 I am passing two vectors to the kernel, one with random variables the other is initialized to zero, the code copies the first vector to shared memory, does some swapping and other operations and then writes back the results on the second vector (the one with the initial 0's) I am using double precision, the -arch sm13 flag is used, all memory allocation also use sizeof(double) .. I have checked if the kernel is invoked, it does .. so no problems here .. the cudaMemCpy has no problems .. what could be the problem .. :( why would it work in emulation but not on HW I am quite confused .. any ideas?

  • How to make Mac OS X CrashReporter invoke debugger?

    - by StasM
I have an appache module on Mac OS X that produces random crashes. I can reproduce these crashes with certain sequence of actions, and these crashes produce Crash Reporter dialog "httpd quit unexpectedly". Is there a way to cause Crash Reporter launch debugger (xcode, gdb, anything) instead of just displaying the backtrace? I've tried running httpd under gdb with httpd -X but the crash doesn't happen then - it happens only if many httpd's are running at once, and I found no way to attach gdb to all of them at once. So I was hoping maybe I can cause CrashReporter to attach the debugger when specific process crashes - is there a way to do it?

  • execute javascript before return in php

    - by user354051
I do have a custom php script that validates captcha code and sends an email. If php script is sending a mail successfully then it returns "true". This is done by: if(!$Error){ echo "true"; exit; } Before returning true, I would like to execute a jQuery command that should refresh the captcha image. I shouldn't be doing this is client side as it might be risky from spammers point of view. To refresh the captcha image, The command is: jQuery('#captcha').attr('src', ('php/captcha/captchaimage_show.php?' + Math.random())); I need to call this command from within php scripts before return any results by "echo" Prashant

  • Python, Matplotlib, subplot: How to set the axis range?

    - by someone
    How can I set the y axis range of the second subplot to e.g. [0,1000] ? The FFT plot of my data (a column in a text file) results in a (inf.?) spike so that the actual data is not visible. pylab.ylim([0,1000]) has no effect, unfortunately. This is the whole script: # based on http://www.swharden.com/blog/2009-01-21-signal-filtering-with-python/ import numpy, scipy, pylab, random xs = [] rawsignal = [] with open("test.dat", 'r') as f: for line in f: if line[0] != '#' and len(line) > 0: xs.append( int( line.split()[0] ) ) rawsignal.append( int( line.split()[1] ) ) h, w = 3, 1 pylab.figure(figsize=(12,9)) pylab.subplots_adjust(hspace=.7) pylab.subplot(h,w,1) pylab.title("Signal") pylab.plot(xs,rawsignal) pylab.subplot(h,w,2) pylab.title("FFT") fft = scipy.fft(rawsignal) #~ pylab.axis([None,None,0,1000]) pylab.ylim([0,1000]) pylab.plot(abs(fft)) pylab.savefig("SIG.png",dpi=200) pylab.show() Other improvements are also appreciated!

  • Android return to the original position of the view after MotionEvent

    - by Kurty
    My application currently changes to another random int (View) when I let go of it (ACTION_UP) but the view stays in the same spot where I dropped it. I want it to return to the original location (the middle of the screen) when I drop it so I can repeat the process. // OnTouch and MotionEvent OnTouchListener dragt = new OnTouchListener() { public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent me) { FrameLayout.LayoutParams par = (FrameLayout.LayoutParams) v.getLayoutParams(); switch (v.getId()) { case R.id.randomView: } switch(me.getAction()) { case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE: par.gravity = 0; par.setMargins((int)me.getRawX() - (v.getWidth())/2, (int)me.getRawY() - (v.getHeight())/2, 0, 0); v.setLayoutParams(par); break; case MotionEvent.ACTION_UP: // tallies score. score++; textScore.setText(String.valueOf(score)); // this generates the new view but the location is still the same color.setImageResource(mImageIds[rgenerator.nextInt(mImageIds.length)]); break; } return true; } };

  • Why a thread is aborted in ASP.NET MVC (again)?

    - by Dario Solera
Here is what I do in a controller action: create and start a new Thread that does a relatively long processing task (~30 seconds on average, but might be several minutes) immediately return the page response so the user knows processing has started (trivially, a Json with a task ID for polling purposes). At some random point, ThreadAbortException is thrown, so the async task does not complete. The exception is not thrown every time, it just happens randomly roughly 25% of the times. Points to note: I'm not calling Response.End or Response.Redirect - there isn't even a request running when the exception is thrown I tried using ThreadPool and I got the same behavior I know running threads in ASP.NET has several caveats but I don't care right now Any suggestion?

  • How do I confirm a pdf loaded correctly with Watir webdriver testing

    - by Mike Rose
This is a general type question that I dont know what code I could post that would help get an answer. So I apologize in advance, but if some piece of code would help, please let me know and Ill add it. The question is, how do I confirm that a pdf loaded in a web browser when using Ruby/Cucumber/Watir Webdriver? My test clicks on a random link that should load a pdf in a new browser window, so I cant check the url because it will vary with each test. Any ideas how I can make sure the correct pdf loads after clicking the link that should load it?

  • How to find scrollable elements in DOM using XPath?

    - by ak.
Basically I need to find all elements on the page that have a scrollbar (vertical or horizontal) How to tell if an element has a scrollbar and can actually be scrolled? I found this code snippet on jsperf. Is it possible to capture the logic behind the code into and XPath expression? Or are there any other ways to check for scrollbars? Added: Just to explain what I'm trying to do: I'm developing extension for Firefox. Basically it introduces Vim-style mouseless shortcuts (I know there is Vimperator and Pentadactyl...). One of the features I'd like to implement is to allow the use to select the container that's scrolled with j/k keys. That's why I need to discover all scrollable elements on any given random page.

  • Background thread in C#

    - by Xodarap
When the user saves some data, I want to spin off a background thread to update my indexes and do some other random stuff. Even if there is an error in this indexing the user can't do anything about it, so there is no point in forcing the main thread to wait until the background thread finishes. I'm doing this from a ASP.NET process, so I think I should be able to do this (as the main thread exiting won't kill the process). When I set a breakpoint in the background thread's method though, the main thread also appears to stop. Is this just an artifact of visual studio's debugger, or is the main thread really not going to return until the background thread stops?

  • Cannot customize Solution Explorer project context menu in VS 2010

    - by mikoro
I'm trying to customize that context menu which comes up when you right click the project in the Solution Explorer. When I goto: Tools - Customize - Commands - Context Menu (radio button) - Project and Solution Context Menus | Project (drop down) I get nothing in the "controls:" list. I can modify other context menus starting with "Project and Solution Context Menus" but none of them is the right one. Any ideas? Currently I have ReSharper, PowerTools and StyleCop installed, but I have installed and uninstalled bunch of other addins (dotTrace, CodeIt.Right, VisualHG, DevExpress, random stuff from Extension Manager).

  • C Builder TForm not allocated or created properly all its controls

    - by ergey
Hi, I would know how i can check that all the controls on the form is created and initialized. I have form i am showing when user presses the 'update' button. It have only TProgressBar control. The handle is not NULL for this control and at random stages it can or can't set the Position/Max values. When i set TProgressBar-Max value to some integer it remains 0 after. So the question is: 1) How to really create the form and all controls on it (i am currently using just Form-Show() method, which as i can check calls the constructor) 2) How to check that all controls on the form is created and PAINTED (showed) Thanks

  • VB.net Network Graph code/algorithm

    - by Jens
For a school project we need to visualise a computer network graph. The number of computers with specific properties are read from an XML file, and then a graph should be created. Ad random computers are added and removed. Is there any open source project or algorithm that could help us visualising this in VB.net? Or would you suggest us to switch to java. Update: We eventually switched java and used the Jung libraries because this was easier for us to understand and implement.

  • MySQL : incrementing text id in DB

    - by BarsMonster
I need to have text IDs in my application. For example, we have acceptable charset azAZ09, and allowed range of IDs [aaa] - [cZ9]. First generated id would be aaa, then aab, aac, aad e.t.c. How one can return ID & increment lower bound in transaction-fashion? (provided that there are hundreds of concurrent requests and all should have correct result) To lower the load I guess it's possible to define say 20 separate ranges, and return id from random range - this should reduce contention, but it's not clear how to do single operation in the first place. Also, please note that number of IDs in range might exceed 2^32. Another idea is having ranges of 64-bit integers, and converting integer-char id in software code, where it could be done asyncroniously. Any ideas?

  • Up to date Ruby On Rails books?

    - by Earlz
Hello, I've been trying to learn Rails for a while now and I just can not piece it all together with random blogs and SO questions, so I've decided I need a full book/ebook. Can anyone suggest a good one? I've been looking at Agile Web Development With Rails 4th edition. There is an old question about Ruby On Rails books but it is from 2008 and there has been new Rails releases since then. I basically would like a book that is more than a reference, but also doesn't assume I'm a non-programmer. Also, I already know a lot of Ruby. So, what books would you recommend that is up to date and also doesn't treat me like a baby?

  • java detect clicked buttons

    - by user253530
I have multiple panels on a JFrame window. I am going to populate each panel differently every time. For example: i start the GUI: (image center panel, right panel, bottom panel). Center panel is populated with 20 buttons, right panel with 10 buttons and bottom panel with 3. second start of the GUI (same gui). Center panel has 50 buttons, right panel has 12 buttons, bottom has 3. So everytime there is a random number of buttons, impossible to be all uniquely named. Given the fact that I don't have a unique name for each button (just a list) I would like to know which buttons were clicked according to the panel they belong to. is that possible?

  • Is window.location.href = 'some_page.html' followed by search engines?

    - by Arkaaito
Currently our website uses links to allow the user to change their locale. The problem with this is that you get a lot of random outlinks from each page on the site to... the same page, in other languages. When a search engine traverses this, it gets an excessively complex view of the site. We were going to change it to a form post to avoid this. However, it seems to me that we should just be able to change it to an onclick="window.location.href='change_my_language.php'" rather than an href="change_my_language.php". Am I right? Or do the major search engines scan for and follow this sort of thing nowadays?

  • Why am I getting a segmentation fault with this code?

  • MacOSX: OSAtomic vs OSAtomicBarrier

    - by anon
For the functions here: #include <libkern/OSAtomic.h> there are OSAtomic and OSAtomicBarrier versions. However, the documentation does not show sample code for: When is it safe to use just OSAtomic, without the OSAtomicBarrier version When is it that OSAtomic would be unsafe, but OSAtomiBarrier would be safe. Can anyone provide explainations + sample codes? [Random ramblings of "your opinion" without actual code is useless. Readers: please down vote such answers; and vigrously upvote answers with actual code.] [C/C++ code preferred; Assembly okay too.]

  • Why doesn't JFreeCharts correctly connect the points in my xy-line graph?

    - by Javajava
/Each letter A,T,G,C represents a direction for the plot to graph. Specifically, “A” means move right, “T” is move down, “C” is move up, and “G” is move left. When the applet reads A,T,C, it plots the graph correctly. However, when I plot G, the graph is messed up. When I input "ACACACA," the graph is like a rising staircase. • paintComponent method is not displaying anything on the panel

    - by Captain Gh0st
    I have been trying to debug this for hours. The program is supposed to be a grapher that graphs coordinates, but i cannot get anything to display not even a random line, but if i put a print statement there it works. It is a problem with the paintComponent Method. When I out print statement before g.drawLine then it prints, but it doesn't draw any lines even if i put a random line with coordinates (1,3), (2,4). import java.awt.*; import java.util.*; import javax.swing.*; public abstract class XYGrapher { abstract public Coordinate xyStart(); abstract public double xRange(); abstract public double yRange(); abstract public Coordinate getPoint(int pointNum); public class Paint extends JPanel { public void paintGraph(Graphics g, int xPixel1, int yPixel1, int xPixel2, int yPixel2) { super.paintComponent(g); g.setColor(Color.black); g.drawLine(xPixel1, yPixel1, xPixel2, yPixel2); } public void paintXAxis(Graphics g, int xPixel, int pixelsWide, int pixelsHigh) { super.paintComponent(g); g.setColor(Color.green); g.drawLine(xPixel, 0, xPixel, pixelsHigh); } public void paintYAxis(Graphics g, int yPixel, int pixelsWide, int pixelsHigh) { super.paintComponent(g); g.setColor(Color.green); g.drawLine(0, yPixel, pixelsWide, yPixel); } } public void drawGraph(int xPixelStart, int yPixelStart, int pixelsWide, int pixelsHigh) { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); Paint panel = new Paint(); panel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(pixelsWide, pixelsHigh)); panel.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(pixelsWide, pixelsHigh)); panel.setMaximumSize(new Dimension(pixelsWide, pixelsHigh)); frame.setLocation(frame.getToolkit().getScreenSize().width / 2 - pixelsWide / 2, frame.getToolkit().getScreenSize().height / 2 - pixelsHigh / 2); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setResizable(false); frame.add(panel); frame.pack(); frame.setVisible(true); double xRange = xRange(); double yRange = yRange(); Coordinate xyStart = xyStart(); int xPixel = xPixelStart - (int) (xyStart.getX() * (pixelsWide / xRange)); int yPixel = yPixelStart + (int) ((xyStart.getY() + yRange) * (pixelsHigh / yRange)); System.out.println(xPixel + " " + yPixel); if(yPixel > 0 && (yPixel < pixelsHigh)) { System.out.println("y"); panel.paintYAxis(panel.getGraphics(), yPixel, pixelsWide, pixelsHigh); } if(xPixel > 0 && (xPixel < pixelsHigh)) { System.out.println("x"); panel.paintXAxis(panel.getGraphics(), xPixel, pixelsWide, pixelsHigh); } for(int i = 0; i>=0; i++) { Coordinate point1 = getPoint(i); Coordinate point2 = getPoint(i+1); if(point2 == null) { break; } else { if(point1.drawFrom() && point2.drawTo()) { int xPixel1 = (int) (xPixelStart + (point1.getX() - xyStart.getX()) * (pixelsWide / xRange)); int yPixel1 = (int) (yPixelStart + (xyStart.getY() + yRange-point1.getY()) * (pixelsHigh / yRange)); int xPixel2 = (int) (xPixelStart + (point2.getX() - xyStart.getX()) * (pixelsWide / xRange)); int yPixel2 = (int) (yPixelStart + (xyStart.getY() + yRange - point2.getY()) * (pixelsHigh / yRange)); panel.paintGraph(panel.getGraphics(), xPixel1, yPixel1, xPixel2, yPixel2); } } } frame.pack(); } } This is how i am testing it is supposed to be a square, but nothing shows up. public class GrapherTester extends XYGrapher { public Coordinate xyStart() { return new Coordinate(-2,2); } public double xRange() { return 4; } public double yRange() { return 4; } public Coordinate getPoint(int pointNum) { switch(pointNum) { case 0: return new Coordinate(-1,-1); case 1: return new Coordinate(1,-1); case 2: return new Coordinate(1,1); case 3: return new Coordinate(-1,1); case 4: return new Coordinate(-1,-1); } return null; } public static void main(String[] args) { new GrapherTester().drawGraph(100, 100, 500, 500); } } Coordinate class so if any of you want to run and try it out.   • Is there a linear-time performance guarantee with using an Iterator?

    - by polygenelubricants
If all that you're doing is a simple one-pass iteration (i.e. only hasNext() and next(), no remove()), are you guaranteed linear time performance and/or amortized constant cost per operation? Is this specified in the Iterator contract anywhere? Are there data structures/Java Collection which cannot be iterated in linear time? java.util.Scanner implements Iterator<String>. A Scanner is hardly a data structure (e.g. remove() makes absolutely no sense). Is this considered a design blunder? Is something like PrimeGenerator implements Iterator<Integer> considered bad design, or is this exactly what Iterator is for? (hasNext() always returns true, next() computes the next number on demand, remove() makes no sense). Similarly, would it have made sense for java.util.Random implements Iterator<Double>?

  • parsing/matching string occurrence in C

    - by David
I have the following string: const char *str = "\"This is just some random text\" 130 28194 \"Some other string\" \"String 3\"" I would like to get the the integer 28194 of course the integer varies, so I can't do strstr("20194"). So I was wondering what would be a good way to get that part of the string? I was thinking to use #include <regex.h> which I already have a procedure to match regexp's but not sure how the regexp in C will look like using the POSIX style notation. [:alpha:]+[:digit:] and if performance will be an issue. Or will it be better using strchr, strstr? Any ideas will be appreciate it

  • create a dataset by using modulo division method

    - by ayoom
create a dataset with 101 integers. Use the modulo division method of hashing to store the random data values into hash tables with table sizes of 7, 51, and 151. Use the linear probing and quadratic method of collision resolution. Print out the tables after the data values have been stored. Search for 10 different values in each of the three hash tables, counting the number of comparisons necessary. Print out the number of comparisons necessary in each case, in tabular form.
