• Using java to send/receive different objects through UDP

  Hello everyone, I am writing a program in Java where there are communications between two or more machines using UDP. My application sends objects after serializing them through the network to the other machine where it will be deserialized and dealt with it. I was successful in sending one kind of objects so far. My problem is that I want the sender to be able to send different kind of objects, and for the receiver to be able to receive them and cast them again to their appropriate types. However, since UDP allocates a byte buffer then receive the data into the buffer, it is impossible to cast or detect the type of the received object as different objects have different sizes. Is there is a way that I can use to send different kind of objects using UDP and then receive them at the other end? (I don't ask for code here, just some ideas) Thanks

  Hello everyone, i am designing a local database in .net with wpf as gui. I have added a new database, and added a new table. Through the TableAdapter i generated 2 statements ( 1 statement is a select stmt and 1 is a insert) , i insert name and firstname (id is auto generated). AND the main thing is that I can't figure out how to change this code so that , I can erase any text in any give line at the cursor, the backspace starts to erase from end of the line . Please Help

• C# threading a FolderBrowserDialog

  Hi, Im trying to use the FolderBrowserDialog to select a folder in C#. At first I got a Thread exception, so I googled what was wrong and fixed that but now im stuck at a nother problem. I whant to know when a folder has been selected.   I have a slider that changes a float from 1 to 10 but I want to save this value and use it across all view controllers so I have saved that float as an NSNumber in a model class (settingsData.sensitivitySliderSettingValue). I am trying to output the updated slider value to the console every time that it is changed however it just gets set to 0 rather than 0 to 10. I don't understand why this is... • setting mailx default smtp relay

  I heave searched Google for this and cannot seem to find a soloution I have bsd-mailx on my server and it sends mail just fine However I wished to have a development environment at home. I need mailx such that php can use its mail function. However the mail is failing to resolve the domain name @gmail.com I am aware that my ISP talk talk may be blocking this is they have a mail server smtp.talktalk.net I assume I would have to add somthing to /etc/mail.rc and use heirloom maEdit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing ilx not bsd-mailx,,but would still need to set default smtp relay Im on ubuntu 12.4 thankyou Edit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing that, I was able to add the smtp relay, but its now saying that the sender domain does not work. I assume this domain has to route back the the same machine the mail originated from. as i dont have a domain for my home address.

• Task manager close is not detected second time in C# !!!

Then the line e.Cancel = true is executed and the form is not closed. Now the thing is, after this if i close the application from task manager the close reason is UserClosing !!! Why? Shouldn't it be TaskManagerClosing?

  I am trying to use (*env)->RegisterNatives to add methods to a defined class which I then add to a callback list. The callback sender of course expects my class to implement a certain interface which I do not. And is failing on execution. If I add the keyword "implements Listener" to my class in Java the javac expects to have the methods definition in Java or with native keyword which I try to avoid here, as I'd like to register the methods within the JNI_OnLoad and execute one of them afterwards. The question now is: Can I implement the interface in JNI or avoid the error message in Java?

  Hi, I am working on an ASP.NET website which uses forms authentication with a custom authentication mechanism (which sets e.Authenticated programmatically on protected void Login_Authenticate(object sender, AuthenticateEventArgs e)). I have an ASP.NET sitemap. Some elements must be displayed only to logged in users. Others must be displayed only to one, unique user (ie. administrator, identified by a user name which will never change). What I want to avoid: Set a custom role provider: too much code to write for a such basic thing, Transform the existing code, for example by removing sitemap and replacing it by a code-behind solution. What I want to do: A pure code-behind solution which will let me assign roles on authenticate event. Is it possible? How? If not, is there an easy-to-do workaround?

• Type mismatch in expression in Delphi 7 on SQL append

  I have a code, that checks the current date when a form is loaded, performs a simple calculation, and appends a SQL in Delphi. It works on Windows 7 with Delphi 7, and on another computer with Xp, but doesn't on 3 other computers with Xp. When the form is loaded it shows a "Type mismatch in expression", and points to the line after the append. • Is it possible that __doPostBack() would ever send a GET request?

  I'm having a problem with telerik RadGrid, I want to enable multiple row selection. I also want to go to the server whenever a row is selected or deselected. I created a javascript function to handle the Grid's client side events (OnRowSelected, and OnRowDeSelected). The functions look like this: function onOperationRowSelected(sender, eventArgs) { __doPostBack("<%=myControl.ClientID %>", "rowSelected:" + eventArgs.get_itemIndexHierarchical()); } The other function is very similar, the only difference is that it sends the string "rowDeselcted" instead of "rowSelected". On Page_Load I check to see if the request is a Post request using "IsPostBack" and if so, I check to see if it's a rowSelected or rowdeselected. My problem is when I select a first raw on my grid, a Post request happens (which is expected), however, when I select the second row, a GET request is issued, which (obviously) will result in IsPostBack returning false. What am I missing here?

  Hi there, I currently started to "port" my console projects to WinForms, but it seems I am badly failing doing that. I am simply used to a console structure: I got my classes interacting with each other depending on the input coming from the console. A simple flow: Input -> ProcessInput -> Execute -> Output -> wait for input Now I got this big Form1.cs (etc.) and the "Application.Run(Form1);" But I really got no clue how my classes can interact with the form and create a flow like I described above. I mean, I just have these "...._Click(object sender....)" for each "item" inside the form. I would to define another layout (not using the horrid table) but continue to use all the event handling and the creation of the user of the CreateUserWizard control.   Hi, I have a feeling of missing something obvious. UDP receiver application. It holds a collection of valid UDP sender IPs - only guys with IP on that list will be considered. Since that list must be looked at on every packet and UDPs are so volatile, that operation must be maximum fast. Good choice is Dictionary but it is a key-value structure and what I actually need here is a dictionary-like (hash lookup) key only structure. Is there something like that? • Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

  Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it?
