  • How do I get MessageBox button caption?

    - by rodrigoq
Hello, I'm making a custom message box that lets you copy text, but I wanted it to look exactly like a standard message box, so I would like to set the buttons text to whatever the system language is, as the MessageBox class does. Does anyone knows how to get that text ("Yes", "No", "Cancel", etc)?.

  • Rails Atom builder xml.tag!("activity:object-type") error

    - by Anup
I am creating a activity stream of my feeds according to the http://activitystrea.ms standard. I am using rails atom builder to create a valid atom feed, but when I use xml.tag!("activity:object-type", "http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/person") the atom feed goes blank. On seeing the source I find the correct xml format from what I have found out the ":object" is giving the problem.

  • XCode newb -- #include can't find my file

    - by morgancodes
I'm trying to get a third party audio library (STK) working inside XCode. Along with the standard .h files, many of the implimentation files include a file called SKINI.msg. SKINI.msg is in the same directory as all of the header files. The header files are getting included fine, but the compiler complains that it can't find SKINI.msg. What do I need to do to get XCode to happily include SKINI.msg?

  • FCBKcomplete, Create a new TAG with Commas as opposed to Enter

    - by nobosh
Currently, FCBKcomplete created new tags after you type something in and press enter. Is there a way to get the plug-in to allow for comma's (which is how tags are commonly separated) to create new tags? I'd hate to have to try to retrain users to user enter as opposed to the more standard comma separator. Plugin: http://www.emposha.com/javascript/fcbkcomplete.html Demo (use the second control): http://www.emposha.com/demo/fcbkcomplete_2/

  • Invert a stack, without using extra data structures?

    - by vks
How would you invert a stack, without using extra data structures, like a second, or temporary, stack. Thus no stack1-stack2 or stack-queue-stack implementation in the answer. You just have access to push/pop feature of a standard stack. I think there is way to do it by keeping a global counter and using pointer manipulation. If I solve it myself, I will post it. If someone else figures it out, please post your solution.

  • Run Windows application as a service?

    - by sh-beta
What is the cleanest, most reliable way to run a Windows application as a service without touching its code? Use case: NorthScale's 64-bit Windows version of memcached runs as a generic application. I'd like to stick it into a Windows 2003 or 2008 Service so I can start/stop/restart/etc it through the standard interface.

  • HTML Select and Text Input

    - by Vijay Dev
We have all seen countless instances of forms with a select drop down having one of it's options as "Other" and on choosing that option, we get to see a input text box (which was hidden all along) asking us to type in our input. Is there a better way to implement this? Are there plugins out there which will let me do this better? Or are standard HTML elements suffice (some setting to a , may be) ?

  • Example of a Good Func Spec?

    - by Alex
Hey, I'm writing my func spec, and I was wondering if there are any good samples of a complete and well-written func spec? Like "This is a standard You're supposed to aspire to" type of spec. I know that Joel has a skeleteon of a func spec on his website, but I am looking for something more complete because I'm not of the appropriate amount of detail, formatting, etc. Thanks, Alex

  • Possible to repair garbled Chinese filenames?

    - by futureelite7
I'm downloading via FTP some files with chinese names (BIG5 encoded), and Filezilla displays those filenames as garbage (as FTP cannot handle any encoding other than ASCII and UTF-8, as least the standard compliant ones). Given a filename with garbled characters, is it possible for me to repair the encoding and get a proper filename String given that I already know the source encoding? Will the FTP client misinterpreting BIG5 as UTF-8 insert bytes that make conversion back to BIG5 difficult?

  • WPF Documentviewerbase.Print. Remove dialog box

    - by Jim Beam
I am using WPF and the DocumentViewer to display a document. However, when I use DocumentViewerBase.Print, it gives the "standard" Windows dialog box asking me to choose a printer with the default already selected. How can I get rid of this? I just want to use a Print method that will automatically start printing with no other prompt in between.

  • ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Relation does not show in Contacts app

    - by Mark R
I programatically added almost every type of contact field to a contact and they all work except for Relation. Relation types get added to the contacts database, but they don't show up in the Contacts app. I don't see a way to add Relation information through the Contacts GUI for a standard Gmail contact either. Does the Contacts app just not support this data type?

  • Biased Random Number Generator

    - by cmptrer
I am looking for a random number generator that can be biased. For instance, say I want a random number between 1-5, with the probability being: 1: Comes up 20% of the time 2: Comes up 10% of the time 3: Comes up 40% of the time 4: Comes up 25% of the time 5: Comes up 5% of the time Is there anything in the standard library, or other libraries out there that would do this? Alternatively, is there an efficient way to do this myself?

  • SHA-1 and Unicode

    - by Andrew
Hi everyone, Is behavior of SHA-1 algorithm defined for Unicode strings? I do realize that SHA-1 itself does not care about the content of the string, however, it seems to me that in order to pass standard tests for SHA-1, the input string should be encoded with UTF-8.

  • How to get Facebook share behavior with Facebook Connect on iPhone

    - by Benoit
With the standard share at http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php one only needs to specify a URL. Title and thumbnail are automatically pulled from the web page (perhaps with the help of meta tags). With Facebook Connect (I am using the iPhone SDK), I need to supply everything explicitly (URL, title, caption, description, images, etc.). Is there a way to emulate the "share" behavior with Facebook Connect, i.e. let Facebook pull the missing elements from the page being shared itself?

  • Daylight saving time and Timezone best practices

    - by Oded
I am hoping to make this question and the answers to it the definitive guide to dealing with daylight saving time, in particular for dealing with the actual change overs. If you have anything to add, please do Many systems are dependent on keeping accurate time, the problem is with changes to time due to daylight savings - moving the clock forward or backwards. For instance, one has business rules in an order taking system that depend on the time of the order - if the clock changes, the rules might not be as clear. How should the time of the order be persisted? There is of course an endless number of scenarios - this one is simply an illustrative one. How have you dealt with the daylight saving issue? What assumptions are part of your solution? (looking for context here) As important, if not more so: What did you try that did not work? Why did it not work? I would be interested in programming, OS, data persistence and other pertinent aspects of the issue. General answers are great, but I would also like to see details especially if they are only available on one platform. Summary of answers and other data: (please add yours) Do: Always persist time according to a unified standard that is not affected by daylight savings. GMT and UTC have been mentioned by different people. Include the local time offset (including DST offset) in stored timestamps. Remember that DST offsets are not always an integer number of hours (e.g. Indian Standard Time is UTC+05:30). If using Java, use JodaTime. - http://joda-time.sourceforge.net/ Create a table TZOffsets with three columns: RegionClassId, StartDateTime, and OffsetMinutes (int, in minutes). See answer Check if your DBMS needs to be shutdown during transition. Business rules should always work on civil time. Internally, keep timestamps in something like civil-time-seconds-from-epoch. See answer Only convert to local times at the last possible moment. Don't: Do not use javascript date and time calculations in web apps unless you ABSOLUTELY have to. Testing: When testing make sure you test countries in the Western and Eastern hemispheres, with both DST in progress and not and a country that does not use DST (6 in total). • Background color for Tk in Python

    - by olofom
    I'm writing a slideshow program with Tkinter, but I don't know how to change the background color to black instead of the standard light gray. How can this be done? import os, sys import Tkinter import Image, ImageTk import time root = Tkinter.Tk() w, h = root.winfo_screenwidth(), root.winfo_screenheight() root.overrideredirect(1) root.geometry("%dx%d+0+0" % (w, h)) root.focus_set() root.bind("<Escape>", lambda e: e.widget.quit()) image = Image.open(image_path+f) tkpi = ImageTk.PhotoImage(image) label_image = Tkinter.Label(root, image=tkpi) label_image.place(x=0,y=0,width=w,height=h) root.mainloop(0)
