hi,
i want to use webDAv server to share files among systems and (iPod or iPhone)in my iphone project.to use it,i have to use individual webserver?
or is it a built in facility ? any one can help?
How do I get the number of packages transmitted per TCP connection?
I am using Java, but i know I will have to fetch the number from the underlying OS, so this quastion applies to Linux and Windows operating systems and will have different answers for each of them, I assume.
I need this information to profile the network load of an application which seems to send too many small packages by flushing the socket streams too often.
I'm bit confused. I've been building my sites with my own session system, but i'm not sure how secure the php's own session system is. My session system usually just has user id and quite harsh hash, which does not include user name or password for generation. I save the hash in the user database and as a cookie to confirm the user session on every page load. So my question is should i keep using my own systems or try out php sessions?
My import of sql via the mysql console is rather slow and as our sql file is increasing every day I would like to know if there are any alternatives on how to import a sql file faster.
Changing to oracle or other systems is no option, the configuration has to stay the same.
Currently the sql file is: 1.5 Gb
I'm on Wamp with Apache 2.2.14, PHP 5.2.11 and MySQL 5.1.41.
Any suggestions?
I have a system where a website needs to be hosted on a Linux machine while a backend application that the site talks to needs to reside on Windows.
Is there any "common practice" for such hosting?
Note - both of the systems are mine so there is the dilemma of whether to have the machines physically located together to avoid delay for calls over the net.
Using Oracle 10g. ( 10.2.0.4 )
Possibly by looking at either logs or system tables is there a way to determine which version of the oracle client each connection is using.
Our systems initially had 8.1.7 Clients, and then 9.X clients.
We attempted to manually locate all machines that had older clients and upgrade them to to 10.2 Clients.
We are seeking a method to audit (from the server) if we were successful in upgrading all of our client machines.
For business software we usually document the business flow and functional and non functional specs as SRS, Use cases or user stories. One of the critical requirements is UI design which may get prototyped.
How do people in the real world document and manage requirements for embedded software for automobile systems ? How are they different from the business applications in terms of requirements management ?
Thanks,
Chak.
Are there any protocols, systems, etc. experimental or otherwise designed for allowing normal (as normal as can be) network operations (E-mail, DNS, HTML, etc.) over very high latency links? I'm thinking of minutes to an hour, or maybe two. Think light speed lag at a solar system scale.
i read "art of exploitation" and "gray hat hackers".Both these books examples written for x86 systems.i have a centrino laptop and an amd64 pc.I can't make work examples for stack based overflow.
I'm studying some systems that allow faster App dev cycles. So I stumbled upon BONITA. It seems that by preparing some connectors you can allow a Business to generate a whole App.
What's the limit of Bonita and what is needed to improve it ?
When building objects that make use of data stored in a RDBMS, it's normally pretty clear what you're getting back, as dictated by the tables and columns being queried. However, when dealing with NoSQL, document-based systems, it's less clear what is being retrieved.
What are common methods of keeping track of structure in which data is stored?
I'm interested in programming languages well suited for embedded programming.
In particular:
Is it possible to program embedded systems in C++?
Or is it better to use pure C?
Or is C++ OK only if some features of the language (e.g. RTTI, exceptions and templates) are excluded?
What about Java in this domain?
Thanks.
Non Stop systems are known for their high availability and reliability, and higher price. How do Linux or Unix based clusters compare with them, in these respects and others?
Basically, i'm wanting to know if i can use either machine or assembly language to write a program that will work on any computer with an x86 processor, despite differences in operating systems. For example, you run a program and no matter what computer it's on, it'll display "Hello, World!"
I know it's a little crazy to want to know either of these to languages, but i figure it's an incredible thing to learn, so why not?
Hi,
I have written a small program where the program works differently on different operating systems (xp, win7) The problem is the program reads some float numbers such 2,686.
One operating system (win7) convert it to float true, but on xp it goes wrong and print it 2686. How can I understand which symbol the operation system uses for decimal numbers ?
Thanks.
I'm looking for real world examples of needing read and write access to the same value in concurrent systems.
In my opinion, many semaphores or locks are present because there's no known alternative (to the implementer,) but do you know of any patterns where mutexes seem to be a requirement?
In a way I'm asking for candidates for the standard set of HARD problems for concurrent software in the real world.
Most people have heard of a Content Management Systems. However, what basic features should an application contain so it can be considered as a true CMS? Also, what Java frameworks could be used to make one?
I am researching using silverlight 4 to develop a desktop application that can be installed from a browser window, now the tricky part is that I want a lightweight database embedded into the application. The database should install with the rest of the application and it should ideally work on both windows and mac systems. Originally I was thinking sqlite would be suitable for this but I have learned that it is not compatible with silverlight. Does anyone know of a solution for this?
On Linux, the readlink utility accepts an option -f that follows additional links. This doesn't seem to work on Mac and possibly BSD based systems. What would the equivalent be?
Here's some debug information:
$ which readlink; readlink -f
/usr/bin/readlink
readlink: illegal option -f
usage: readlink [-n] [file ...]
I have code which works on windows, that calls LocalAlloc as follows:
LocalAlloc(LMEM_ZEROINIT, size)
I need the equivalent malloc or calloc call to get this to work on Unix systems, through Mono. Simple answer?
I was wondering if its possible to have some kind of SQL error reporting that sends me an email that includes the error and the website that it's been found on.
I'd like to take this precaution because of hosting multiple drupal systems.
There is a PHP error variant:
http://drupal.org/project/php_errors
Hope you guys know a way to become aware of any possible SQL errors by not loggin in to check the error report.
I got a little problem
i need a sql query that gives all rows back that only contains 0 in it.
the column is defined as varchar2(6)
the values in the column looks like this:
0
00
00
100
bc00
000000
00000
my first solution would be like this:
Oracle:
substr('000000' || COLUMN_NAME, -6) = '000000'
SQL Server:
right('000000' + COLUMN_NAME, 6) = '000000'
is there an other way?
(it needs to work on both systems)
Hi,
I'm having a bit of a strange problem with an application using the Files.probeContentType(path)-method to test for file type: On both my Ubuntu and Fedora systems, it works fine, but when moved to a RedHat Enterprise server (2.6.18-194.el5 #1 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux), it only returns null. I'm using java 7 early access (1.7.0-ea-b84). I have to use this version due to functionality that isn't included in 1.6.
Does anyone have an idea of what might be the problem here?
I am working with telecom company. I am familiar with Java programming language. But now I have a task to write a script, with Linux operating systems. I have to write a script for fetching data from other computer and check some conditions. How can I do that using Java?
I'm looking for a function that will accept a string representing the scheme portion of a URL (e.g., "http", "https", "ftp", etc.) and return the standard port. It might be used like this:
echo get_port_from_protocol("http"); // 80
As a last resort, I suppose I could write something to parse through /etc/services (assuming I only need to run under UNIX-like operating systems).
But surely there must be something built-in to PHP, no?
