    Hi all, I came cross a question in my interview. Question: Array of integers will be given as the input and you should find out the middle element when sorted , but without sorting. For Example. Input: 1,3,5,4,2 Output: 3 When you sort the given input array, it will be 1,2,3,4,5 where middle element is 3. You should find this in one pass without sorting. Any solutions for this?

    Say I have a dataframe df with two or more columns, is there an easy way to use unique() or other R function to create a subset of unique combinations of two or more columns? I know I can use sqldf() and write an easy "SELECT DISTINCT var1, var2, ... varN" query, but I am looking for an R way of doing this. It occurred to me to try ftable coerced to a dataframe and use the field names, but I also get the cross tabulations of combinations that don't exist in the dataset: uniques <- as.data.frame(ftable(df$var1, df$var2))

  • Using NetBeans for multiple programming languages

    I am looking for a cross platform RAD IDE with GUI building. NetBeans looks right (or am aI wrong?). However, I may want to code somethings in C++ and some in Python. It looks like both are supported, but I am not sure if I need to install two copies of NetBeans or if one can handle both programming languages. Oh my I'm on a project which have multiple countries, brands, components layers and each time I will add a file you want me to "Add as Link" ? This is a nightmare maintenance ! Is there any other solutions ?

    Hello I want to use XQuery on a column of data type NTEXT (I have no choice!). I have tried converting the column to XML using CONVERT but it gives the error: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'CONVERT'. Here's the query SELECT y.item.value('@UserID', 'varchar(50)') AS UnitID, y.item.value('@ListingID', 'varchar(100)') AS @ListingID FROM dbo.KB_XMod_Modules CROSS APPLY CONVERT(xml, instancedata).nodes('//instance') AS y(item) (instancedata is my column) Can anyone think of a work around for this ?     Hi, I wonder if anyone can help out here, I'm trying to understand how use an objects properties across multiple non class pages,but I can't seem to be able to get my head around everything i have tried so far. For example a class called person; class person { static $name; } but i have a number of different regular pages that want to utilize $name across the board. I have trying things like this; pageone.php include "person.php"; $names = new Person(); echo person::$name; names::$name='bob'; pagetwo.php include "person.php"; echo person::$name; I can work with classes to the extent I'm OK as long as I am creating new instances every page, but how can make the properties of one object available to all, like a shared variable ?     I have a web service that I built with Axis2/Java. The web service will take in a list of objects and will process them. I'll use the following operation as an example. public class AddToDatabaseService{ public void addToDatabase(String name1, String name2, String name3, ....) { //add names to database } } I want the caller of my web service to use a URI like: http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/addToDatabase?name1=Joe&name2=Bob&name3=Kelly&name4=... I'm aware this is not compilable code and the idea is still there. Is this even possible with SOAP-based web services? I know this is possible to do with RESTful services because you can just take the HttpServletRequest request object and do Enumeration enumeration = request.getParameterNames() and iterate through them. I'm looking for the equivalent of that in web services POJO's with Axis2. A link or an sample program would be great! Thanks.

    Are there any idioms for returning multiple values from a bash function within a script? http://tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/assortedtips.html describes how to echo multiple values and process the results (e.g., example 35-17), but that gets tricky if some of the returned values are strings with spaces in. A more structured way to return would be to assign to global variables, like foo () { FOO_RV1="bob" FOO_RV2="bill" } foo echo "foo returned ${FOO_RV1} and ${FOO_RV2}" I realize that if I need re-entrancy in a shell script I'm probably doing it wrong, but I still feel very uncomfortable throwing global variables around just to hold return values. Is there a better way? I would prefer portability, but it's probably not a real limitation if I have to specify #!/bin/bash.

  • Resolving MSB3247 - Found conflicts between different versions of the same dependent assembly

    A .NET 3.5 solution ended up with this warning when compiling with msbuild. Sometimes NDepend might help out but in this case it didn't give any further details. Like Bob I ended up having to resort to opening each assembly in ILDASM until I found the one that was referencing an older version of the dependant assembly. I did try using MSBUILD from VS 2010 Beta 2 (as the Connect article indicated this was fixed in the next version of the CLR) but that didn't provide any more detail either (maybe fixed post Beta 2) Is there a better (more automated) approach?

    I am investigating moving a thick client SQL based Delphi application to Multi Tier thin clients, and have been looking at using Datasnap in Delphi 2010. I have worked through the White Paper written by Bob Swart and extended this further. My main question really is that I want to make the server side efficient in terms of connections and SQL Queries due to multiple queries being run and remaining open at the same time to interrogate data, can anyone point me in a direction for guidance on how to design a real world Datasnap Server application, as the demo's don't go into enough detail.   • windows 2008 task scheduled batch file runs forever

    I currently have the following batch running in windows 2008 task scheduler. mysql --user=bobdb --password=letmein --force --named-commands --local-infile=1 --execute="insert into bobdb.attendees (name) values ('bob');insert into bobdb.attendees (name) values ('rick');" It executes nicely when I run it from a command prompt and it executes when I force it to run and it executes when it is scheduled to run. My issue is when it does run, the task scheduler seems to keep it running until it hits a timeout. Is there a command to tell it when it is finished running in the batch file so it doesn't throw a timeout error? thanks in advance

    I have a msbuild file that I'm trying to run from Hudson CI. It outputs like this "C:\Program Files\Gubka Bob\PartCover .NET 2\PartCover.exe" --target "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\MSTest.exe" --target-args "/noisolation" "/testcontainer:C:\CI\Hudson\jobs\Video Raffle\workspace\Source\VideoRaffleCaller\Source\VideoRaffleCaller.Test.Unit\bin\Debug\VideoRaffleCaller.Test.Unit.dll" --include "[VideoRaffleCaller*]*" --output "Coverage\partcover.xml" I get this error Invalid switch "raffle\workspace\source\videorafflecaller\source\videorafflecall er.test.unit\bin\debug\videorafflecaller.test.unit.dll". For switch syntax, type "MSTest /help" WTF? Looks like PartCover doesn't handle spaces in the --target-args well. Or am I missing some quotes somewhere? Has anyone gotten something like to to work?

  • Repeater and add columns to header and itemtemplate on page load

    I haven't used repeaters for much more than showing data from a datatable. I am building a grid that that shows a list of users and columns of roles that the user has been assigned, shown with checkboxes (shown with true/false below but pretent they are checkboxes). ex. |Rep Name|Caller|Closer|Manager|SuperUser| |Bob |True |true | false | false | |Tom |false |false |True | True | Basically using it for roles management. However the roles may change later on so I want to load the roles(headers and items) dynamically into the repeater. I am not sure how to do this or if it is even possible. I figure you grab a list of current role possibilities and load them into the headertemplate but I am not sure how to match those with the itemtemplate and how to create checkboxes and place them in the itemtemplate. Sorry if it is a rudementary question.... I appreciate any advice!

    I'm trying to make a generic class that takes 3 types, either a simple string, IList or a IList. public class OntologyStore { } public sealed class jim<T> where T:new() { IList<string> X = null; IList<OntologyStore> X1 = null; public bob() { if (typeof(T) == typeof(String)) { X = new List<string>(); } if (typeof(T) == typeof(OntologyStore)) { X1 = new List<OntologyStore>(); } } } I can easily create, which you would expect to work, jim<OntologyStore> x1=new jim<jim<OntologyStore>() as you would expect, but when I put in jim<string> x2=new jim<string>() the compiler reports the string is non abtract type, which you would expect. Is it possible to create a generic class, which can instantiate as a class which holds string, or a IList or an IList?
