• Can FileOutputStream() take a relative path as an argument

  I am creating a FileOutputStream object. It takes a file or String as an argument in its constructor. My question is, can I give it a relative URL as an argument for the location of a file, it doesn't seem to work, but I am trying to work out if this is possible at all (if not I will stop trying). If it is not possible, how can I (from a servlet) get the absolute path (on the filesystem, not the logical URL) to the current location in such a way that I can pass that to the constructor. Part of my problem is that my dev box is Windows but I will publish this to a Unix box, so the paths cannot be the same i.e. on Windows C:/.... and on unix /usr/...

• Trying to filter a ListView with runQueryOnBackgroundThread but nothing happens - what am I missing?

  I have a list of countries in a database. I have created a select country activity that consists of a edit box for filtering and a list which displays the flag and country name. When the activity starts the list shows the entire list of countries sorted alphabetically - works fine. When the customer starts typing into the search box I want the list to be filtered based on their typing. My database query was previously working in an AutoCompleteView (I just want to switch to a separate text box and list) so I know my full query and my constraint query are working. What I did was add a TextWatcher to the EditText view and every time the text is changed I invoke the list's SimpleCursorAdapter runQueryOnBackgroundThread with the edit boxes text as the constraint. The trouble is the list is never updated. I have set breakpoints in the debugger and the TextWatcher does make the call to runQueryOnBackgroundThread and my FilterQueryProvider is called with the expected constraint. The database query goes fine and the cursor is returned. • iPhone checklist app

  I am trying to create a simple app that displays a list of items with check boxes next to each item, then give the user to simply check each box. Nothing (aside from the checkbox image switching) needs to happen when the check box is touched. Each checklist is a seperate NSDictionary contained in a single master NSDictionary. The checklist dictionary contains arrays for different sections of each checklist. At the top of the view, the user selects which set (dictionary) of checklists they want to open then I want that checklist to display underneath the picker once a "select checklist" button is pressed. Any ideas on the best way to get this done?

• Return tiff file from outputstream on JSP

  I am using a JSP to display a single TIFF file. The flow is as follows: I am given a PDF to convert to a TIFF. I feed a 'black box' API the PDF in the form of a File object and an OutputStream (I am currently using a ByteArrayOutputStream but that can change as needed. The 'black box' converts the PDF to a TIFF and saves the result to the OutputStream. I use out.println(outputstream) to spit out the TIFF. The problem is that I am getting a text stream instead of a displayed image. I have used the following head/meta tag: <head><title>PDF to TIFF tester</title> <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Script-Type" CONTENT="image/tiff"></head> <body> But that does not change the end result. Any help?

• CSS gurus, can I make my absolutely positioned child element force the main parent's height?

  This is kind of hard to explain. I have an absolutely positioned floating secondary content box. It works great in all occurrences. Except, when you submit a form and don't fill out the fields (see here, and push send). The box expands to show the errors, and underneath the footer there is a blank space. The best example I can give is to see it in action (link above). I've played with min-height and it didn't work too good. I'd also like to avoid expanding the footer with code in the event of form errors if I can help it. Should I ditch the absolute positioning? And try with margins? Is there any other way to get it to work?

• Using Sandy 3D AS3, fill the viewport (exact fit) with multiple 3D objects.

  I'm stitching together an image using multiple instances of the sandy.primitive.Box. Each box is 96x91 while the viewport is 960x273 which should make for an exact fit if I layout the boxes in a perfect grid of 10x3. However, I can't seem to get the exact camera fieldOfView. I've tried a couple formulas (one for adjusting the "focal length" and one for adjusting the fov, directly). Both of these formulas produce a fov angle that is too narrow. // focal length (stage.stageHeight/2) / Math.tan(cam.fov / 2 * Math.PI / 180) // field of view 2 * Math.atan2( (stage.stageHeight/2), -cam.z ) * (180 / Math.PI) Another question about the same project: I need to adjust the perspective of each cube so that the image appears to be in 2D space (flat)... Any ideas on the best method for calculating such a "correction"?

  I'm using Drupal 6.16: When a user creates an account on my site I have them select a category (ie children, youth, adult, etc). This is done with the select list box using the content_profile module. I have a content type that posts an announcement. In this content type is a check box that says 'email group'. Right now it does nothing, but what I would like for it to do is e-mail all the users that are associated with the group they chose when signing up for their account. If this will require extra code please be specific as I am not a strong php programmer. Thanks for the help!! msindle

• RewriteCond to change displayed host, but not server

  Typing out the title to this leads me to believe this might not be possible due to security concerns, but I will ask anyway. I have shortcode support running on my server, lets call it xx.yy I want it so when a user sends a request to xx.yy, it just changes the displayed host to another valid domain running on the same box. I have this so far (lets the server know to accept requests from xx.yy): RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*xx.yy [NC] RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:<PORT_OMITTED>%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*mysite.com [NC] RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:<PORT_OMITTED>%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] It works, and it directs the traffic into my app, but the url says http://xx.yy when I would rather it say http://mysite.com I know i could redirect to http://mysite.com instead of 127.0.0.1, but I have 4 parallel boxes of mysite.com and going back out to DNS to maybe go to another box seems like a waste when I am already here. Also, I am not sure how POST requests would work like that. What can I do?

  I've been studying compass and while it is a fun thing to play with and use, one thing bothers me(besides being unable to add padding as it wrecks the grid), how do I nest columns? I want to be able to do what blueprint does: nest containers like say, I have a 24-column page divided in two(17 and 7 columns). In the right part of that page(the one with 7 columns), I want to divided some elements into two(2 and 5 columns). I tried this: #main +container #main-content +column(17) +box-padding(17, 10px) :margin :right 0 #sidebar +column(7, true) +box-padding(7, 10px) That's the code for the main page. The sidebar contains a list with some labels and input fields li +container :margin :bottom 5px label +column(2) :margin :right 0 input +column(5, true) It kinda works, but inspecting the li in firebug shows that it's width is actually 950px as opposed to be just 270px since it is just 7 columns. I tried googling about nested columns but I can't seem to find any example in compass. I've also tried the wiki and the documentation to no avail.

  I've got a table cell that I would always like to be a particular width. However, it doesn't work with large strings of unspaced text. • Selenium not finding LiveValidation text.

  I am using the Selenium IDE to test some of my web development. I am using the JQuery LiveValidation in my code. I have an input box with some javascript behind it that will do a regular expresson and either ouput "OK" or "Error" next to the input text box based on what the user has entered. For some reason when testing with selenium the LiveValidation will not get triggered no matter what I do and therefore I can not test it. When I do it manually it works great. Has anyone run into this problem before? Any help would be appreciated.

  I'm starting out in HTML and CSS. I have a div element on the page, which doesn't fill the whole page. In it- there's a ul element and some list items in it. I want to put the list 227px from the top of the div element, but I can't manage to accomplish this- it pushes it more. Also- between the list items I want a margin of 40 pixels, but it also does more. What's the problem?   I am trying to determine when the user has moved focus out of the browser to: select copy/paste (but not to the google search box). Ffox handles this nicely. selecting another window/tab/external widget (e.g., the google search box). focusOut and blur listeners on window and document cannot seem to disambiguate between these two types of focus changes. Can IE do this? I want this distinction so that I can better support usability in my web app without losing focus.

  In my C# app I get an xml from a server that contains some replies like in a forum thread (with elements like author, time, body, title, whatever). When I get this xml, I create a new form in which i want to display these replies, and a little text box with an "add reply" button. I'd also like some edit buttons on perhaps my own replies in the reply list displayed in the form. The simplest way that came to my mind to display the replies is to put a web browser control in the form, generate a full html page in a string from the xml, and throw it in that web browser control. And under it i can put the text box with the add reply button. Everything is ok, except that i have no idea of how i could implement the edit function on my own replies (i mean i could add a link in there... but link to what) I would like to know if there is a way to get that edit event from the web browser control (my guess is i can't) or another (maybe simple/easy) idea of displaying the replies in a winform using other controls

  Hi First let me start of saying I know absolutely nothing about c++ and I am really just more interested in getting this to work then learning c++(I got enough on my plate to learn). So basically I am trying to make a terms of service for my windows mobile 6 professional application but it seems I need to use c++ to do it. After hours of searching I found a solution but it developed for windows mobile standard. So they somehow used c++ to make a message box and on standard devices(ie non touch screen phones) the message box can have like scrolling. For some reason this is not the case with professional devices(touch screen devices). So my message box goes off the page and you can never accept or decline the terms.   Hi, I want to use a timer only once, at 1 second after the initialization of my main form. I thought the following would have a message box saying "Hello World" just once, but actually a new message box says "Hello World" every one second. Why so? I had put t.Stop() in the tick event. Also, do I need to dispose the timer somehow to avoid memory leakage?
