• dll's loaded through reflection

  Ok, I got a strange one here and I want to know if any of you have ever run accross anything like it. So I've got this web app that loads up a bunch of dll's through reflection. Basically it looks for Types that are derived from certain abstract types and adds them to the list of things it can make. Here's the weird part. While developing there is never a problem. When installing it, there is never a problem to start with. Then, at a seemingly random time, the application breaks while trying to find all the types. I've had 2 sites sitting side by side and one worked while the other did not, and they were configured exactly(and I mean exactly) the same. IISRESET's never helped, but this did: I simply moved all the dll's out of the bin directory then moved them back. That's right I just moved them out of the bin directory then put them right back where they came from and everything worked fine. Any ideas?

• Is there a way to retrieve the Computer Name of a Xenapp client?

  What options exist for identifying the client name of a particular client from within the process running on Citrix Presentation 4.0, or Xenapp 5, and are there any important differences in retrieving this information in either scenario? Currently my software is a client that connects to a service on a server, and the primary means of identification are computer name and IP Address. When installed on a Citrix Presentation server, all running instances currently show the same Computer Name and IP Address, which are those of the server. My application is written in VB 6.0, however I am looking to implement the new feature in C# .NET. Any help or clarification on the question itself would be appreciated, as I am not experienced with developing for Citrix thin clients.

  Hi guys! I am feeling that I have terribly wrong somewhere. I was working on a small asp.net app. I have some dynamic themes in the \theme folder and have implemented a page base class to load the master page on the fly. The master is having the ContentPlaceHolder like: <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="cphBody" runat="server" /> Now I am adding pages that are derived from my base class and added the form elements. I know, Visual Studio has problem showing the page in the design mode. I have a dropdown box and wish to add the event of onselectedindexchange.   As the question states, what exactly are the implications of having the 'implicit declaration of function' warning? We just cranked up the warning flags on gcc and found quite a few instances of these warnings and I'm curious what type of problems this may have caused prior to fixing them? Also, why is this a warning and not an error. How is gcc even able to successfully link this executable? As you can see in the example below, the executable functions as expected. • White Label Ecommerce app. Shared or Individual dbs

  Currently I'm working with an in house white label cms that we resell to multiple clients and it all runs from the same box/db. I'm just looking at converting this to have an ecommerce version that we'll run alongside it. I'm wondering whether there will be an issue keeping all the products/categories/orders in one db or whether it would be advisory to separate each instance of the site into its own db for this. These white label instances will only be sold to smaller companies that probably wont have masses of traffic/products and are looking for a simple ecommerce site. Anything larger will definitely get its own hosting and db. But for smaller scale stuff do you think a single db will be ok?

  I'm trying to run through an example given for the C++ Xerces XML library implementation. I've copied the code exactly, but I'm having trouble compiling it. error: expected class-name before '{' token I've looked around for a solution, and I know that this error can be caused by circular includes or not defining a class before it is used, but as you can see from the code, I only have 2 files: MySAXHandler.hpp and MySAXHandler.cpp. However, the MySAXHandler class is derived from HandlerBase, which is included. • Using jQuery to find keywords in string

  In php, I have used preg_match_all() to find keywords (using the format %keyword%) in a string, which works wonderfully and returns an array of all found keywords. What I would like to do, is do the same thing using jQuery or javascript. I have tried using the filter() function, and it kind of works. But I think I am missing something. How can I find ALL instances of the keyword in a string, using a regex? Here is what I have worked out so far: $("[id^='editableContent-']").filter(function() { alert($(this).html().match(/\%(.*?)\%/)); }); Any suggestions are welcome!

  We have a class, say LegacyUserSettingsService. LegacyUserSettingsService implements an interface, IUserSettingsService. You can get an instance of the IUserSettingsService by calling our ApplicationServicesFactory. The factory uses Spring.NET to construct the concrete LegacyUserSettingsService. The trouble is that new developers sometimes do their own thing and construct new instances of the LegacyUserSettingsService directly (instead of going via the factory). Is there a way to protect the constructor of the concrete class so it can only be called from the factory? A well-known pattern perhaps? Note that the concrete class resides in a different assembly (separate from the Factory's assembly, so the internal keyword is not a solution). The factory assembly references the other assembly that contains the concrete class. Any ideas?

  I'm looking for a very quick way to generate an alphanumeric unique id for a primary key in a table. Would something like this work? def genKey(): hash = hashlib.md5(RANDOM_NUMBER).digest().encode("base64") alnum_hash = re.sub(r'[^a-zA-Z0-9]', "", hash) return alnum_hash[:16] What would be a good way to generate random numbers? Unfortunately we're moving to an executable made up of dlls. Each dlls could potentially have its own copy of Id for a type. One obvious solution is to explicitly instantiate all instances of arType. Unfortunately this is cumbersome, and I'd like to ask if anyone can propose a better solution?

  After learning how to do MySQL Full-Text search, the recommended solution for multiple tables was OR MATCH and then do the other database call. You can see that in my query below. When I do this, it just gets stuck in a "busy" state, and I can't access the MySQL database. This leads to some race conditions that mess things up. I can (and probably should) fix my task to work properly but I wanted to know if celery has any builtin ways to ensure this. • Applying fine-grained security to an existing application

  I've inherited a reasonably large and complex ASP.NET MVC3 web application using EF Code First on SQL Server. It uses ASP.NET Membership roles with database authentication. The controller actions are secured with attributes derived from AuthorizeAttribute that map roles to actions. There are extension methods for the finer points, such as showing a particular widget to particular roles. This is works great and I have a good understanding of the current security model. I've been asked to provide finer grained security at the data level. For example a 'Customer' user can only see data (throughout the database) associated with themselves and not other Customers. The problem is that 'Customer' is only 1 of 5 different types with their own specific restrictions (each of the 9 roles is one of these 5 types). The best thing I can think of is to go through all the data repositories and extend each and every LINQ statements/query with a filter for every user type. Even if I had time for that it doesn't seem like the most elegant way. Any suggestions? I really don't know where to start with this so anything could be helpful. Many thanks.

  Check out this pic of my SQL 2008 Management Configuration screen for TCP: I need to know what port I am running on. Base on this previous post, I don't believe that it is 1433, which I guess is the default. When I check my port number in SQL Config Mgr., it is blank. Does this suggest a default port? Note that I have multiple SQL Server instance on the db server. 1 2000 instance and two 2008 instances. I want to know the port of the 2008b instance. Can you help?

• Paragraph with normal opacity within greyed-out div

  I am greying out a web page when a user doesn't have permission to access it. In order to do that, I am placing a div with background-color white and a lowered opacity on top of the web page. I want to write some words in that div with the words having a normal opacity. As of now, the greyed out background is showing correctly. However, I can't seem to get the words to be a regular opacity. The derived styles on Firebug show the opacity on the words as normal, but it clearly isn't. What am I doing wrong?   What is the best way to check if an instance of Microsoft SQL Server is up? I have a view that spans two instances of Microsoft SQL Server but before querying it in a stored procedure I would like to verify that the second instance of the server is up with a fallback option of just querying local data. The second instance is a linked server. Currently I'm considering a SQL CLR function that can attempt to open a connection with a shorter timeout but I'm wondering if it's something that can be done directly in Transact SQL.

  Hi, I'm trying to remove duplicates from a Dojo FilteringSelect without changing the contents of the attached itemFileReadStore data store. I can't seem to find any information on how this is done, if it is indeed possible. I'm thinking I may have to extend the FilteringSelect Dijit and provide the functionality myself but I'm hoping to not have to. The reason I'm trying to remove duplicates with the FilteringSelect and not the data store is because I'm using the same data store with three instances of the FitleringSelect, each displaying different values from each row of the store.

• Can I get information about the IIS7 virtual directory from Application_Start?

  I have 3 IIS7 virtual directories which point to the same physical directory. Each one has a unique host headers bound to it and each one runs in its own app pool. Ultimately, 3 instances of the same ASP.NET application. In the Application_Start event handler of global.asax I would like to identify which instance of the application is running (to conditionally execute some code). Since the Request object is not available, I cannot interrogate the current URL so I would like to interrogate the binding information of the current virtual directory? Since the host header binding is unique for each site, it would allow me to identify which application instance is starting up. Does anyone know how to do this or have a better suggestion?

  I hope this is blindingly obvious: I'm looking for the fastest way to replace a repeating element in a string with the elements in a given array, e.g. for SQL queries and parameter replacement. $query = "SELECT * FROM a WHERE b = ? AND c = ?"; $params = array('bee', 'see'); Here I would like to replace the instances of ? with the corresponding ordered array elements, as so: SELECT * FROM a WHERE b = 'bee' and c = 'see' I see that this might be done using preg_replace_callback, but is this the fastest way or am I missing something obvious?

  I am using Symfony 1.3.2 on Ubuntu. I have written a little helper function (statsfoo) that prints out summary statistics about an item. In both instances, the raw number (&9830) was displayed in the page. I want to display the diamond instead. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this?
