• Re-ordering C++ template functions

  In C++, I have a certain template function that, on a given condition, calls a template function in another class. The trouble is that the other class requires the full definition of the first class to be implemented, as it creates the second class and stores them and manages them in similar fashions. The trouble is that naturally, they fall as one class, and thus have some tight interop, except that I need them to be two classes for threading reasons. A sort of, master for all threads, one child per thread, system. Any advice on how this can be implemented?

• How to dynamically add a Javascript function (and invoke)

  Based on a click event on the page, via ajax I fetch a block of html and script, I am able to take the script element and append it to the head element, however WebKit based browsers are not treating it as script (ie. I cannot invoke a function declared in the appended script). Using the Chrome Developer Tools I can see that my script node is indeed there, but it shows up differently then a script block that is not added dynamically, a non-dynamic script has a text child element and I cannot figure out a way to duplicate this for the dynamic script. Any ideas or better ways to be doing this? The driving force is there is potentially a lot of html and script that would never be needed unless a user clicks on a particular tab, in which case the relevant content (and script) would be loaded. • LoadViewState not fired on my user control

  I have a user control nested in a repeater. Inside my user control I have another repeater and in that I have a panel. I am trying to override the LoadViewState event of my user control and dynamically add controls to the panel. I want to do it in the LoadViewState so that the dynamic controls get added before the viewstate gets loaded, so they retain their values after post backs. For some reason the LoadViewState event on the user control (ascx) is not firing. Is there some way to force it to fire, or is there another method I could use? I have ruled out the user controls repeater databind event, because I need it to work even if data binding isn't happening and I can't do it on the repeaters item created event either because the child panel and inner html doesn't exist yet.

• Javascript function programming — receiving elaborate parameters

  I'm writing a Javascript function that would manipulate an array written on-the-fly and sent as a parameter. The function is written as follows: function returnJourney(animation,clean){ var properties = {}; // loads of other inane stuff for(i in animation[0]) properties[animation[0][i]] = animation[0].i; // heaps more inane stuff } The animation in question is a set of parameters for a jQuery animation. Typically it takes the format of ({key:value,key:value},speedAsInteger,modifierAsString). So to kick off initial debugging I call it with: returnJouney(({'foo':'bar'},3000),1); And straight off the bat things are way off. As far as I see it this would have returnJourney acknowledge clean === 1, and animation being an array with an object as its first child and the number 3000 as its second. Firebug tells me animation evaluates as the number 3000. What am I doing wrong?

• ALT-TAB Application Icon Pixelated

  When a child window of my application is opened and I view the ALT-TAB menu, the application icon looks pixellated. I assume that Windows uses a low resolution version of the icon (16x16 pixel I think). What can I do that Windows selects the right version which would be 32x32 pixel? I assigned an icon to the window in question that has 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x38 and 256x256 in true color. Please note that VS says in the proterties that 32x32 is used and that it works fine for the main window of my application where I assigned the exact same icon.

• iPhone: Get value in multi-dimentional array

  I have an array that is many levels deep and I am wondering what is the best way to get one of the child element values that is deep in my array. I assume I need to use a recursive method, but what is the best way to do this? Or is there a faster way to do this? The array comes from an XML Parser that I am using which builds everything into an array like this (using NSLog to show the structure): { children = ( { children = ( { children = ( { children = ( ); data = 12; element = AssetID; } ); data = ""; element = "ns1:GetUserIdByUsernameResponse"; } ); data = ""; element = "SOAP-ENV:Body"; } ); data = ""; element = "SOAP-ENV:Envelope"; } What I would like to get at is the AssetID data, which in this case is 12.

• Rails: Creating subfolders in model?

  I'm going to have a ton of subclasses, so want to organize them under a subfolder called stream. I added the following line to the environment.rb so that all classes in the subfolder would be loaded: Rails::Initializer.run do |config| ... config.load_paths += Dir["#{RAILS_ROOT}/app/models/*"].find_all { |f| File.stat(f).directory? } ... end I thought this would solve the issue in which by convention the model class is namespaced into an according module. However, when I try to call one of the classes called stream in the stream folder, I get the following error: NoMethodError: undefined method `new' for Stream:Module from (irb):28 from /usr/local/bin/irb:12:in `<main>' Here's the model for the parent and one child: class Stream end class EventStream < Stream end Any idea what the issue is?

• Raphael how to get last path and last circle, if i have 2 elements in the paper?

  I need to find the last path or circle in a paper, in order to perform further calculations to draw more elements, and calling 'paper.bottom' only gets the last element. Is there any way to get shapes of specific types, e.g. bottom.path, bottom.circle or traverse for the n'th child? I want to avoid using jQuery selectors, as i can't retrieve any properties from those.   I have the following class structure for custom UITableViewCells: NumericEntryCell - Contains method for controlling max value that can be entered into a textbox. SliderCell - inherits from NEC and contains methods for handling slider-control of textbox value TextOnlyCell - just contains a textbox CellA - inherits from SliderCell and has a max value of 28 CellB - inherits from TextOnlyCell and has a max value of 150. I want NumericEntryCell to contain a definition for a property that contains the maxValue. I want to be able to set a value for this in the initialize method of a child class (CellA or CellB). Currently I have an int maxValue declared in the interface of NEC. I declare a property for this with @property int maxValue and @synthesize it within the .m file. However, attempting to modify this property's value from CellA or CellB's initialize method has no effect - when I hit a breakpoint in the NEC method that uses this value, its value is always zero. How can I get this to work?

• How can I take zooming into account when a user touches a UIScrollView?

  I have a UIImageView inside of a UIScrollView. The parent scroll view allows zooming and panning. When the user taps a point in the scroll view, I want to find the location in the raw image inside the UIImageView - i.e. I want the point after including any zooming and panning the user has done in the scroll view. Right now, I have a UIScrollView subclass called ForwardingScrollView that handles touch events and attempts to convert them into locations in the coordinate system of the child image view. I tried adding contentOffset to these points, tried multiplying them by zoomScale, and even tried doing both. I also tried calling [touch locationInView: self] and [touch locationInView: parent], but none of these methods correctly return the point that I clicked in the underlying image. What's the best way to do this? Thanks in advance.

• FKs on all tables for status colunm

  I have a colunm "Status" in every table in my DB. The purpose of it is to show if the given row is in use or if it has been deactivated. So values can be (0=deactive and 1= active). Two ways I see this: I can have enums or I am thinking if it is better to keep this colunm as a FK which references the main system data dictionary table which has all the codes used on the system. (website) The benefit is every table, every row can then be centralized through this FK. So if i ever want to check all rows which are deactive on my system i can from this table as all th child tables will have like status = ID 233, where 233 = deactive in the data dictionary table. Any benefit or should i stick with the old way of enums?. Also I am thinking if i need one more status for deleted or is that same as deactivated?

  I have a modal UI in my web app that necessitates a fixed layout design. After much fussing, I decided absolutely positioned child elements was the way to go. However, I have one div that conditionally requires a vertical scrollbar (if there's too much content). When this scrollbar is added, the width of the div seems to vary between IE 7 and IE 8. IE8 standards mode: IE7 standards mode: I haven't even tested for IE 6, but I'm sure it's even funkier. What's the simplest, least painful way to address this to arrive at a consistent UI in all major browsers?

  I want to setup table constraints for the following scenario and I’m not sure how to do it or if it’s even possible in SQL Server 2005. I have three tables A,B,C. C is a child of B. B will have a optional foreign key(may be null) referencing A. For performance reasons I also want table C to have the same foreign key reference to table A. The constraint on table C should be that C must reference its parent (B) and also have the same foreign key reference to A as its parent. Anyone have any thoughts on how to do this?

• TinyMCE is making my code valid, and I want it to stop! (<img> tag wrapped in <p>)

  I have TinyMCE installed on the back end of a site. Some of the html it's accessing isn't totally valid, which I realize is the problem in itself. However, TinyMCE is messing things up by making things valid. I have an <img> with no parents (no <p>, no <div>, etc), and TinyMCE is wrapping the <img> in <p></p>. I'm trying to find a setting that will stop that from happening. Essentially, I want TinyMCE to allow <img> to be it's own element, rather than a child element, if that makes sense. And i can prepare Product node with CCK with needed fields. Then i can use taxonomy vocabulary for product categories/subcategories. Is this a right way to do such functionality? Or better to use just child/parent nodes? And how i can show subpages menu on product page? How i can organize menus? I need one menu with primary links, second menu below it, for secondary links (except Products catalog) and sidebar menu for Products catalog. Please advice.   Hi all, I would like some assistance with the following problem: I have a table of groups that is self-associated with itself, so each group is (optionally) linked to another in a hierarchical fashion. I want to write some code that will somehow check before the destruction of a group entry, if it has any children, and ask the user for confirmation, or whether they wish to delete the child groups as well. I've looked at callbacks, but I don't know how to get the confirmation request to the end user in the view, and then get the response back to the model's callback. Thanks
