• Writing custom Message Formatter for SOAP basicHttpBinding

  I have a WSDL published by our service development team. It is using SOAP and basicHttpBinding. I can add the service reference to the project using Add Service Reference option in Visual Studio. I need to develop the WCF client. I need to use custom Message Formatter (for mapping between Messages and CLR types). Can you please show how to write the custom Message Formatter (in C# )for the following wsdl? • BizTalk 2009 - Scoped Record Counting in Maps

  Within BizTalk there is a functoid called Record Count that will return the number of instances of a repeated record or repeated element that occur in a message instance. The input to this functoid is the record or element to be counted. As an example take the following Source schema, where the Source message has a repeated record called Box and each Box has a repeated element called Item: An instance of this Source schema may look as follows; 2 box records - one with 2 items and one with only 1 item. Our destination schema has a number of elements and a repeated box record.  The top level elements contain totals for the number of boxes and the overall number of items.  Each box record contains a single element representing the number of items in that box. Using the Record Count functoid it is easy to map the top level elements, producing the expected totals of 2 boxes and 3 items: We now need to map the total number of items per box, but how will we do this?  We have already seen that the record count functoid returns the total number of instances for the entire message, and unfortunately it does not allow you to specify a scoping parameter.  In order to acheive Scoped Record Counting we will need to make use of a combination of functoids. As you can see above, by linking to a Logical Existence functoid from the record/element to be counted we can then feed the output into a Value Mapping functoid.  Set the other Value Mapping parameter to "1" and link the output to a Cumulative Sum functoid. Set the other Cumulative Sum functoid parameter to "1" to limit the scope of the Cumulative Sum. This gives us the expected results of Items per Box of 2 and 1 respectively. I ran into this issue with a larger schema on a more complex map, but the eventual solution is still the same.  Hopefully this simplified example will act as a good reminder to me and save someone out there a few minutes of brain scratching.

• What does it mean when ARP shows <incomplete> on eth1

  We have been using HAProxy along with heartbeat from the Linux-HA project. We are using two linux instances to provide a failover. Each server has with their own public IP and a single IP which is shared between the two using a virtual interface (eth1:1) at IP: 69.59.196.211 The virtual interface (eth1:1) IP 69.59.196.211 is configured as the gateway for the windows servers behind them and we use ip_forwarding to route traffic. We are experiencing an occasional network outage on one of our windows servers behind our linux gateways. HAProxy will detect the server is offline which we can verify by remoting to the failed server and attempting to ping the gateway: Pinging 69.59.196.211 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 69.59.196.220: Destination host unreachable. Swapping network cards and switches I noticed the link light on the port of the switch for the failed windows server was running at 100Mb instead of 1Gb on the failed interface. I moved the cable to several other open ports and the link indicated 100Mb for each port that I tried. I also swapped the cable with the same result. I tried changing the properties of the network card in windows and the server locked up and required a hard reset after clicking apply. This windows server has two physical network interfaces so I have swapped the cables and network settings on the two interfaces to see if the problem follows the interface. If the public interface goes down again we will know that it is not an issue with the network card. (We also tried another switch we have on hand, no change) Changing network hardware driver versions We've had the same problem with the latest Broadcom driver, as well as the built-in driver that ships in Windows Server 2008 R2. Replacing network cables As a last ditch effort we remembered another change that occurred was the replacement of all of the patch cords between our servers / switch. We had purchased two sets, one green of lengths 1ft - 3ft for the private interfaces and another set of red cables for the public interfaces. We swapped out all of the public interface patch cables with a different brand and ran our servers without issue for a full week ... aaaaaand then the problem recurred. Disable checksum offload, remove TProxy We also tried disabling TCP/IP checksum offload in the driver, no change. We're now pulling out TProxy and moving to a more traditional x-forwarded-for network arrangement without any fancy IP address rewriting. We'll see if that helps.

I made a maven multi module project with the following modules: /api /domain /repositories /webapp I like to share the domain and the repositories between the api and the webapp (both web projects).   I have this problem that I cannot fix. From my @Controller, i can easily access my autowired @Service class and play with it no problem. But when I do that from a separate class without annotations, it gives me a NullPointerException. • How to implement dynamic binary search for search and insert operations of n element (C or C++)

  The idea is to use multiple arrays, each of length 2^k, to store n elements, according to binary representation of n.Each array is sorted and different arrays are not ordered in any way. In the above mentioned data structure, SEARCH is carried out by a sequence of binary search on each array. INSERT is carried out by a sequence of merge of arrays of the same length until an empty array is reached. More Detail: Lets suppose we have a vertical array of length 2^k and to each node of that array there attached horizontal array of length 2^k. That is, to the first node of vertical array, a horizontal array of length 2^0=1 is connected,to the second node of vertical array, a horizontal array of length 2^1= 2 is connected and so on. So the insert is first carried out in the first horizontal array, for the second insert the first array becomes empty and second horizontal array is full with 2 elements, for the third insert 1st and 2nd array horiz. array are filled and so on. • how do I use html block snippets with dynamic content inside a django template that extends another

  Hi. Can someone please help me figure out a way to achieve the following (see snippets below) in Django templates? I know that you cannot use more than one extends, but I am new to django and I do not know the proper syntax for something like this. I want to be able to do this so that I can use my nested div layout for css reasons without having to type it like that each time and risking a typo. • Dynamically creating a Generic Type at Runtime

  I learned something new today. Not uncommon, but it's a core .NET runtime feature I simply did not know although I know I've run into this issue a few times and worked around it in other ways. Today there was no working around it and a few folks on Twitter pointed me in the right direction. The question I ran into is: How do I create a type instance of a generic type when I have dynamically acquired the type at runtime? Yup it's not something that you do everyday, but when you're writing code that parses objects dynamically at runtime it comes up from time to time. In my case it's in the bowels of a custom JSON parser. After some thought triggered by a comment today I realized it would be fairly easy to implement two-way Dictionary parsing for most concrete dictionary types. I could use a custom Dictionary serialization format that serializes as an array of key/value objects. Basically I can use a custom type (that matches the JSON signature) to hold my parsed dictionary data and then add it to the actual dictionary when parsing is complete. Generic Types at Runtime One issue that came up in the process was how to figure out what type the Dictionary<K,V> generic parameters take. Reflection actually makes it fairly easy to figure out generic types at runtime with code like this: if (arrayType.GetInterface("IDictionary") != null) { if (arrayType.IsGenericType) { var keyType = arrayType.GetGenericArguments()[0]; var valueType = arrayType.GetGenericArguments()[1]; … } } The GetArrayType method gets passed a type instance that is the array or array-like object that is rendered in JSON as an array (which includes IList, IDictionary, IDataReader and a few others). In my case the type passed would be something like Dictionary<string, CustomerEntity>. So I know what the parent container class type is. Based on the the container type using it's then possible to use GetGenericTypeArguments() to retrieve all the generic types in sequential order of definition (ie. string, CustomerEntity). That's the easy part. Creating a Generic Type and Providing Generic Parameters at RunTime The next problem is how do I get a concrete type instance for the generic type? I know what the type name and I have a type instance is but it's generic, so how do I get a type reference to keyvaluepair<K,V> that is specific to the keyType and valueType above? Here are a couple of things that come to mind but that don't work (and yes I tried that unsuccessfully first): Type elementType = typeof(keyvalue<keyType, valueType>); Type elementType = typeof(keyvalue<typeof(keyType), typeof(valueType)>); The problem is that this explicit syntax expects a type literal not some dynamic runtime value, so both of the above won't even compile. I turns out the way to create a generic type at runtime is using a fancy bit of syntax that until today I was completely unaware of: Type elementType = typeof(keyvalue<,>).MakeGenericType(keyType, valueType); The key is the type(keyvalue<,>) bit which looks weird at best. It works however and produces a non-generic type reference. You can see the difference between the full generic type and the non-typed (?) generic type in the debugger: The nonGenericType doesn't show any type specialization, while the elementType type shows the string, CustomerEntity (truncated above) in the type name. Once the full type reference exists (elementType) it's then easy to create an instance. In my case the parser parses through the JSON and when it completes parsing the value/object it creates a new keyvalue<T,V> instance. Now that I know the element type that's pretty trivial with: // Objects start out null until we find the opening tag resultObject = Activator.CreateInstance(elementType); Here the result object is picked up by the JSON array parser which creates an instance of the child object (keyvalue<K,V>) and then parses and assigns values from the JSON document using the types  key/value property signature. Internally the parser then takes each individually parsed item and adds it to a list of  List<keyvalue<K,V>> items. Parsing through a Generic type when you only have Runtime Type Information When parsing of the JSON array is done, the List needs to be turned into a defacto Dictionary<K,V>. This should be easy since I know that I'm dealing with an IDictionary, and I know the generic types for the key and value. The problem is again though that this needs to happen at runtime which would mean using several Convert.ChangeType() calls in the code to dynamically cast at runtime. Yuk. In the end I decided the easier and probably only slightly slower way to do this is a to use the dynamic type to collect the items and assign them to avoid all the dynamic casting madness: else if (IsIDictionary) { IDictionary dict = Activator.CreateInstance(arrayType) as IDictionary; foreach (dynamic item in items) { dict.Add(item.key, item.value); } return dict; } This code creates an instance of the generic dictionary type first, then loops through all of my custom keyvalue<K,V> items and assigns them to the actual dictionary. By using Dynamic here I can side step all the explicit type conversions that would be required in the three highlighted areas (not to mention that this nested method doesn't have access to the dictionary item generic types here). Static <- -> Dynamic Dynamic casting in a static language like C# is a bitch to say the least. This is one of the few times when I've cursed static typing and the arcane syntax that's required to coax types into the right format. It works but it's pretty nasty code. If it weren't for dynamic that last bit of code would have been a pretty ugly as well with a bunch of Convert.ChangeType() calls to litter the code. Fortunately this type of type convulsion is rather rare and reserved for system level code. • Why learn Perl, Python, Ruby if the company is using C++, C# or Java as the application language?

  I wonder why would a C++, C#, Java developer want to learn a dynamic language? Assuming the company won't switch its main development language from C++/C#/Java to a dynamic one what use is there for a dynamic language? What helper tasks can be done by the dynamic languages faster or better after only a few days of learning than with the static language that you have been using for several years? Update After seeing the first few responses it is clear that there two issues. My main interest would be something that is justifiable to the employer as an expense. That is, I am looking for justifications for the employer to finance the learning of a dynamic language. Aside from the obvious that the employee will have broader view, the employers are usually looking for some "real" benefit.

  If you’re using MDS and DQS with the Excel Integration you may get an error when trying to use the “Match Data” feature that uses DQS in order to help to identify duplicate data in your data set. The error is quite obscure and you have to enable WCF error reporting in order to have the error details and you’ll discover that they are related to some missing permission in MDS and DQS_STAGING_DATA database.   I am trying to figure out if they are actually useful... I have a DBProject and it would be nice if when I publish from my DEV to my TEST it what automatically copy the schema and data from DEV to TEST.. is that what this tab in visual studio is for ? On PROD I would never want to copy the data over but maybe I would change the schema and want to move that schema to PROD.. so is that what this tab is for ? For now we are using WEB DEPLOY but none of these database options.. We are manually using DATA COMPARE to sync changes on the various databases/DBproject... Any advice?

• SOA 11g Technology Adapters – ECID Propagation

  Overview Many SOA Suite 11g deployments include the use of the technology adapters for various activities including integration with FTP, database, and files to name a few. Although the integrations with these adapters are easy and feature rich, there can be some challenges from the operations perspective. One of these challenges is how to correlate a logical business transaction across SOA component instances. This correlation is typically accomplished via the execution context ID (ECID), but we lose the ECID correlation when the business transaction spans technologies like FTP, database, and files. A new feature has been introduced in the Oracle adapter JCA framework to allow the propagation of the ECID. This feature is available in the forthcoming SOA Suite 11.1.1.7 (PS6). The basic concept of propagating the ECID is to identify somewhere in the payload of the message where the ECID can be stored. Then two Binding Properties, relating to the location of the ECID in the message, are added to either the Exposed Service (left-hand side of composite) or External Reference (right-hand side of composite). This will give the JCA framework enough information to either extract the ECID from or add the ECID to the message. In the scenario of extracting the ECID from the message, the ECID will be used for the new component instance. Where to Put the ECID When trying to determine where to store the ECID in the message, you basically have two options: Add a new optional element to your message schema. Leverage an existing element that is not used in your schema. The best scenario is that you are able to add the optional element to your message since trying to find an unused element will prove difficult in most situations. The schema will be holding the ECID value which looks something like the following: 11d1def534ea1be0:7ae4cac3:13b4455735c:-8000-00000000000002dc Configuring Composite Services/References Now that you have identified where you want the ECID to be stored in the message, the JCA framework needs to have this information as well. The two pieces of information that the framework needs relates to the message schema: The namespace for the element in the message. The XPath to the element in the message. To better understand this, let's look at an example for the following database table: When an Exposed Service is created via the Database Adapter Wizard in the composite, the following schema is created: For this example, the two Binding Properties we add to the ReadRow service in the composite are: <!-- Properties for the binding to propagate the ECID from the database table --> <property name="jca.ecid.nslist" type="xs:string" many="false">  xmlns:ns1="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/top/ReadRow"</property> <property name="jca.ecid.xpath" type="xs:string" many="false">  /ns1:EcidPropagationCollection/ns1:EcidPropagation/ns1:ecid</property> Notice that the property called jca.ecid.nslist contains the targetNamespace defined in the schema and the property called jca.ecid.xpath contains the XPath statement to the element. The XPath statement also contains the appropriate namespace prefix (ns1) which is defined in the jca.ecid.nslist property. When the Database Adapter service reads a row from the database, it will retrieve the ECID value from the payload and remove the element from the payload. When the component instance is created, it will be associated with the retrieved ECID and the payload contains everything except the ECID element/value. The only time the ECID is visible is when it is stored safely in the resource technology like the database, a file, or a queue. Simple Database/File/JMS Example This section contains a simplified example of how the ECID can propagate through a database table, a file, and JMS queue. The composite for the example looks like the following: The flow of this example is as follows: Invoke database insert using the insertwithecidbpelprocess_client_ep Service. The InsertWithECIDBPELProcess adds a row to the database via the Database Adapter. The JCA Framework adds the ECID to the message prior to inserting. The ReadRow Service retrieves the record and the JCA Framework extracts the ECID from the message. The ECID element is removed from the message. An instance of ReadRowBPELProcess is created and it is associated with the retried ECID. The ReadRowBPELProcess now writes the record to the file system via the File Adapter. The JCA Framework adds the ECID to the message prior to writing the message to file. The ReadFile Service retrieves the record from the file system and the JCA Framework extracts the ECID from the message. The ECID element is removed from the message. An instance of ReadFileBPELProcess is created and it is associated with the retried ECID. The ReadFileBPELProcess now enqueues the message via the JMS Adapter. The JCA Framework adds the ECID to the message prior to enqueuing the message. The DequeueMessage Service retrieves the record and the JCA Framework extracts the ECID from the message. The ECID element is removed from the message. An instance of DequeueMessageBPELProcess is created and it is associated with the retried ECID. The logical flow ends. • when should a database table be broken into multiple tables with relations?

  I have an application that needs to store client data, and part of that is some data about their employer as well. Assuming that a client can only have one employer, and that the chance of people having identical employer data is slim to none, which schema would make more sense to use? Schema 1 Client Table: ------------------- id int name varchar(255), email varchar(255), address varchar(255), city varchar(255), state char(2), zip varchar(16), employer_name varchar(255), employer_phone varchar(255), employer_address varchar(255), employer_city varchar(255), employer_state char(2), employer_zip varchar(16) **Schema 2** Client Table ------------------ id int name varchar(255), email varchar(255), address varchar(255), city varchar(255), state char(2), zip varchar(16), Employer Table --------------------- id int name varchar(255), phone varchar(255), address varchar(255), city varchar(255), state char(2), zip varchar(16) patient_id int Part of me thinks that since are clearly two different 'objects' in the real world, seperating them out into two different tables makes sense. However, since a client will always have an employer, I'm also not seeing any real benefits to seperating them out, and it would make querying data about clients more complex. Is there any benefit / reason for creating two tables in a situation like this one instead of one?

• BAD DC transfering FSMO Roles to ADC

  I have a DC (FQDN:server.icmcpk.local) and an ADC (FQDN:file-server.icmcpk.local). Recently my DC is facing a bad sector problem so I changed the Operation Masters to file-server for all five roles. but when ever i turn off the OLD DC the file-server also stops wroking with AD and GPMC further i m also unable to join any other computer to this domain. For Test purpose i also added a new ADC (FQDN:wds-server.icmcpk.local) but no succes with the old DC off i had to turn the old DC on and then joined it. I m attaching the Dcdiags for all three servers. • Folders in SQL Server Data Tools

  Recently I have begun a new project in which I am using SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2012. Although I have been using SSDT & SSIS fairly extensively while SQL Server 2012 was in the beta phase I usually find that you don’t learn about the capabilities and quirks of new products until you use them on a real project, hence I am hoping I’m going to have a lot of experiences to share on my blog over the coming few weeks. In this first such blog post I want to talk about file and folder organisation in SSDT. The predecessor to SSDT is Visual Studio Database Projects. When one created a new Visual Studio Database Project a folder structure was provided with “Schema Objects” and “Scripts” in the root and a series of subfolders for each schema: Apparently a few customers were not too happy with the tool arbitrarily creating lots of folders in Solution Explorer and hence SSDT has gone in completely the opposite direction; now no folders are created and new objects will get created in the root – it is at your discretion where they get moved to: After using SSDT for a few weeks I can safely say that I preferred the older way because I never used Solution Explorer to navigate my schema objects anyway so it didn’t bother me how many folders it created. Having said that the thought of a single long list of files in Solution Explorer without any folders makes me shudder so on this project I have been manually creating folders in which to organise files and I have tried to mimic the old way as much as possible by creating two folders in the root, one for all schema objects and another for Pre/Post deployment scripts: This works fine until different developers start to build their own different subfolder structures; if you are OCD-inclined like me this is going to grate on you eventually and hence you are going to want to move stuff around so that you have consistent folder structures for each schema and (if you have multiple databases) each project. Moreover new files get created with a filename of the object name + “.sql” and often people like to have an extra identifier in the filename to indicate the object type: The overall point is this – files and folders in your solution are going to change. Some version control systems (VCSs) don’t take kindly to files being moved around or renamed because they recognise the renamed/moved file simply as a new file and when they do that you lose the revision history which, to my mind, is one of the key benefits of using a VCS in the first place. On this project we have been using Team Foundation Server (TFS) and while it pains me to say it (as I am no great fan of TFS’s version control system) it has proved invaluable when dealing with the SSDT problems that I outlined above because it is integrated right into the Visual Studio IDE. Thus the advice from this blog post is: If you are using SSDT consider using an Visual-Studio-integrated VCS that can easily handle file renames and file moves I suspect that fans of other VCSs will counter by saying that their VCS weapon of choice can handle renames/file moves quite satisfactorily and if that’s the case…great…let me know about them in the comments. The type base64Binary of arg2 seems not the right one? In java it's a DataHandler. By testing it with low memory on the java side we can see it is not using streaming as it fails with OOM. • Tracking changes in Entity Framework 4.0 using POCO Dynamic Proxies across multiple data contexts.

  I started messing with EF 4.0 because I am curious about the POCO possibilities... I wanted to simulate disconnected web environment and wrote the following code to simulate this: Save a test object in the database. Retrieve the test object Dispose of the DataContext associated with the test object I used to retrieve it Update the test object Create a new data context and persist the changes on the test object that are automatically tracked within the DynamicProxy generated against my POCO object. The problem is that when I call dataContext.SaveChanges in the Test method above, the updates are not applied. The testStore entity shows a status of "Modified" when I check its EntityStateTracker, but it is no longer modified when I view it within the new dataContext's Stores property. I would have thought that calling the Attach method on the new dataContext would also bring the object's "Modified" state over, but that appears to not be the case. Is there something I am missing?
