  • Bash script "read" not pausing for user input when executed from SSH shell

    I'm new to Bash scripting, so please be gentle. I'm connected to a Ubuntu server via SSH (PuTTY) and when I run this command, I expect the bash script that downloads and executes to allow user input and then echo that input. It seems to just write out the echo label for the input request and terminate. wget -O - https://raw.github.com/aaronhancock/pub/master/bash/readtest.sh | bash Any clue what I might be doing wrong? UPDATE: This bash command does exactly what I wanted bash <(wget -q -O - https://raw.github.com/aaronhancock/pub/master/bash/readtest.sh)

  • Only some windows shell commands work via ruby?

    Hi. I'm trying to use a script to control my power options since XP doesn't give you an intuitive way to change CPU Frequency options. Here's my script so far: meh = `cmd.exe /C POWERCFG.EXE /QUERY Portable/Laptop` puts "" puts meh case input when 1 then system('cmd.exe /C POWERCFG.EXE /CHANGE Portable/Laptop /processor-throttle-ac NONE') when 2 then system('cmd.exe /C POWERCFG.EXE /CHANGE Portable/Laptop /processor-throttle-ac ADAPTIVE') when 3 then `cmd.exe /C POWERCFG.EXE /CHANGE Portable/Laptop /processor-throttle-ac CONSTANT` end The problem is that the changes simply don't take place. If I run the same commands directly into a cmd.exe prompt, they work. It's very strange, but nothing works after the initial powercfg query. I feel like I'm missing something incredibly obvious. How can I get the above script to run correctly?

    Is it a good practice to put js files of the "content" folders in inner folders representing their logical module? For example have a "datalayer" and "view" folders? I looked into some well known extensions, such as Firebug, and saw no such devision. I'm a Java developer so its seems much more natural to divide the files logically.

  • Codeigniter Routes for filename with extension

    I am using codeigniter and its routes system successfully with some lovely regexp, however I have come unstuck on what should be an easy peasy thing in the system. I want to include a bunch of search engine related files (for Google webmaster etc.) plus the robots.txt file, all in a controller. So, I have create the controller and updated the routes file and don't seem to be able to get it working with these files. Here's a snip from my routes file: $route['robots\.txt|LiveSearchSiteAuth\.xml'] = 'search_controller/files'; Within the function I use the URI helper to figure out which content to show. Now I can't get this to match, which points to my regexp being wrong. I'm sure this is a really obvious one but its late and my caffeine tank is empty :)

    After using hg qnew and hg qrefresh to create and update a patch that I want to apply to my repository, but the commit message that I wrote when I did hg qnew was not very good, it did not reference the ticket number from trac, and I would like to say something in it about some of the issues that my commit addresses. (Just like Eclipse and Java) I think I need to talk to the C# Language Service for this information, but searching for "Language Service" just yields results on how to CREATE one, not how to use one of the existing ones... To get this question a little more general: How do I get information about properties of the code (static/visibility etc) for using it in a VSX?

  • What's the best self-tracking software for Linux?

    I'm looking for a way to track myself and receive quality data upon which I can write future scripts/programs. For example, I use Google Reader a lot. I'd like to track the hrefs that garner my clicks. Further, I'd like to drop all of the words of each href into a database where they can be stacked in a hierarchical manner. At the end of the week I want to know that "Ubuntu" garnered 448 clicks and "Cheetos" garnered 2. :) That's just one example... I'd like this tracking and data-collecting to extend beyond my browser. I know writing something to do this myself wouldn't be too awfully difficult but if something already exists I'd happily use it. Thanks in advance. Primary OS: Ubuntu 10.04

    i'm trying to use the terminal from python VTE binding (python-vte from debian squeeze) as a virtual terminal emulator (just for ANSI/control chars text processing) in interactive python console, everything looks (almost) all right: >>> import vte >>> term = vte.Terminal() >>> term.feed("a\nb") >>> print repr(term.get_text(lambda *a: True).rstrip()) 'a\n b' however, launching this code (little modified) as python script, different result is yielded: $ python vte_wiredness_1.py '' strangely enough, pasting the code back into the (new) interactive python session also yields empty string: >>> import vte >>> term = vte.Terminal() >>> term.feed("a\nb") >>> print repr(term.get_text(lambda *a: True).rstrip()) '' >>> first thing caming on my mind was that the only difference between the two cases is the timing - there had to be some delay before get_text. unfortunately, preluding get_text with some seconds sleep did not help then i thought it has something to do with X window environment. but the results are the same pure linux console (with some warning on missing graphics). i wonder what causes such an unpredictable behavior (interactive console - pasted vs typed, and it's not the delay.. ant the interactive console has nothing to do with the vte terminal object.. i guess) can someone explain what is happening? is it possible to use the VTE Term such way? that the "b" letter in the output is preceded by the space, is another strangeness (all consecutive lines are preceded by more spaces.. looks like I have to send carriage return before the string.) (the lambda *a: True get_text method argument i'm using is a dummy callback, it's is some SlotSelectedCallback.. for its explanation i'd be grateful as well :) )

Having initially run this in a TestMethod, I kept getting an exception resembling "WhenCalled cannot be run without a complementing behavior". I tried defining behaviors for everyone and their mothers, but to no avail. Then I debug stepped through the test run, and saw that an actual exception was fired from Autofac: IRubber has not been registered. So it's obvious that the static Resolve function isn't being faked, and I can't get it to be faked, no matter how I go about hooking it up. Isolate.WhenCalled(() => ResolutionExtensions.Resolve<IRubber>(null)).WillReturn(new BubbleGum()); ... throws an exception from Autofac complaining that the IComponentContext cannot be null. Feeding it the presumably faked IContainer (or faking an IComponentContext instead) gets me back to the "IRubber not registered" error.

  • Modify post data with a custom MVC extension?

    So I'm looking into writing some custom MVC extensions and the first one I'm attempting to tackle is a FormattedTextBox to handle things such as currency, dates, and times. I have the rendering of it working perfectly, formatting it, working with strong types and everything all golden. However, the problem I'm now running into is cleaning up the formatted stuff when the page posts the data back. Take for example, a currency format. Let's use USD for these examples. When an object has a property as a decimal, the value would be 79.95. Your edit view would be something like: <%= Html.FormattedTextBox(model => Model.Person.HourlyWage, "{0:C}") %> This is all well and good for the GET request, but upon POST, the value is going to be $79.95, which when you assign to that decimal, gets unhappy very quickly and ends up shoving a 0 in there. So my question is, how do I get code working somewhere to work with that value before the MVC Framework goes and starts shoving it back into my ViewModel? I'd much rather this be done server-side than client-side. Thanks!!

  • Xml files stop being served by IIS6 after allowing .net to process the .xml extension

    I added a route into my site to allow for a sitemap and everything worked fine in IIS7 but once I deployed the route stopped working. Since the live server is running IIS6 I needed to put a new mapping in for .xml to be processed by .net and then it started to work. My issue though is on every other xml file on the site now. I keep getting a 404 error when trying to view xml files, but the sitemap.xml route works. Is this a routing issue or an IIS setup issue?   • Redirect PHP-Shell-Script output

    Hi Folks, i have got a php-script foo.php #!/usr/bin/php -c /etc/php5/cli/php.ini -q <?php echo 'hello'; // & do some stuff ?> I call this script not wrapped by a sh-script but using it directly in a cron job. To get rid of it's output i normally would just create a sh-file which calls /usr/bin/php -c /etc/php5/cli/php.ini -q foo.php > /dev/null 2 > /dev/null now i'd like to do this in the interpreter-declaration of the php file it self... so i am looking for the syntax for: #!/usr/bin/php -args [file's content] > /redirect 2 > /redirect i have kind of a hard time googleing for it... so if anybody could point me into the right direction i would really appreciate it!     Hello everybody, I have already read the previous questions posted on the same argument but I really haven't figured it out yet.
