    I created an ASPX page with search controls to the left bound as controls for an AccessDataSource. I want the data grid to be blank on the first calling of the page, but show the results for subsequent page loads. I plan to achieve this by putting [pFirstRun] = False as my first WHERE condition with the parameter pFirstRun tied to the value isPostBack. How do I achieve this? Alternatively, is there a better way to achieve this goal?

  • ArgumentNullException when accessing a FormView instance

    Background: I have an ASP.NET page which has a numebr of user controls within it. There are 2 user controls which are of interest. I need to display either one of them or neither of them, depending on the record selected previously. In the user controls I need to set properties of some controls which are in a FormView. So in my user control code-behind I have a number of properties which look something like this: Private ReadOnly Property phSectionReports() As PlaceHolder Get Return fvConfirmationReport.FindControl("phSectionReports") End Get End Property The problem: I am having problems with this Property. Sometimes it is returning Nothing/Null and sometimes it is throwing a NullArgumentException with the message "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: container". The exception is coming from trying to reference the fvConfirmationReport variable. fvConfirmationReport is the ID of my FormView in the page itself. So I am really after things to look for and if any ideas what sort of conditions (e.g stage in page cycle, etc.) might lead to this? An example stack trace is included below.     I'm writing a set of C# composite web server controls for displaying dialog boxes. I want to have one abstract class which handles the basic layout and things like titles of the control, then have a set of derived ones which render child controls at a specific point. I forsee three distincts methods: renderOpeningHtml handled by the abstract class, renderCustomControls as done by the derived class, and renderClosingHtml by the abstract class again, except I can't figure the life cycle of a CompositeControl and what methods to use when.

One of the controls I am reworking is a collection of links. The issue I am having is that each link is coloured differently when moused over. One red, one blue, one green, etc. Is there a way to style these items without sacrificing the dynamics of using an items control with a data template?

Is this possible? I have seen that using the PlayerContext allows access to some controls/events in the Player, but I am not sure how extensible the Player itself is.

  • WPF performance for large number of elements on the screen

    Im currently trying to create a Scene in WPF where I have around 250 controls on my screen and the user can Pan and Zoom in and out of these controls using the mouse. I have run the WPF Performance Suite tools on the application when there are a large number of these controls on the screen (i.e. when the user has zoomed right out) the FPS drops down to around 15 which is not very good.     I have a gridview that includes dynamically created dropdownlist. When changing the dropdown values and doing a mass update on the grid (btnUpdate.click), I have to create the controls in the page init so they will be available to the viewstate. However, I have several other buttons that also cause a postback and I don't want to create the controls in the page init, but rather later in the button click events. How can I tell which control fired the postback while in page_init? __EVENTTARGET = "" and request.params("btnUpdate") is nothing

  • How can I make a child window topmost?

    Hi, I have a parent form, with some child windows (not forms - just windows, for example label controls) inside it. Under certain circumstances, I want one of those child windows to be drawn "above" the others, to display a message over the entire main form. I've tried setting HWND_TOPMOST and HWND_TOP on the child windows, but it doesn't seem to have any effect at all. Am I doing something wrong, or do HWND_TOPMOST and HWND_TOP only work on forms, as opposed to controls within forms? Thanks.

    using visual studio 2008 Asp.net HTML Designer Howdy, Silly question but im using the HTML desinger in vs2008 to produce a ASP.net webform page, and i cant seem to find a way to select/group multiple controls with the mouse and move them all about the page in one group to keep them all aligned. I can select multiple controls with cntrl/click combo, and use the align options, but once they are selected i cannot move them aroound the webform as a group any advice appreciated

Since an inner Control is a Panel, I'd like to use it as container at design time.   • Cocoa class not displaying data in NSWindow

    I have one class that controls one window, and another class that controls a different window in the same xib, however, the second window never displays what it should. In the first class I alloc and init the second class, then pass some information to it. In the second class it displays that data in the table view. Yes, in the .xib I have all the connections set up correctly, I've quadruple checked. Also the code is correct, same with the connections, I've quadruple checked.
