  • Regular expression to match one of two video ID's in a Google Video URL

    I need to grab the video ID from a Google Video URL. There are two different types of URLs that I need to be able to match: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3498228245415745977# where I need to be able to match -3498228245415745977 (note the dash; -), and video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3498228245415745977#docid=2728972720932273543 where I need to match 2728972720932273543. Is there any good regular expression that can match this? This is what I've got so far: @"docid=(-?\d{19}+)" since the video ID seems to be 19 characters except when it's prefixed with the dash. I'm using C# (of which I have very little experience) if that changes anything. P.s. I would also appreciate you review my regular expressions for YouTube (@"[\?&]v=([^&#])";), RedTube (@"/(\d{1,6})") and Vimeo (@"/(\d*)"). I do not expect users to enter the full URL and thus do not match the ^http://\\.?sitename+\\.\\w{2,3}.

  • Discovering a functional algorithm from a mutable one

    This isn't necessarily a Scala question, it's a design question that has to do with avoiding mutable state, functional thinking and that sort. It just happens that I'm using Scala. Given this set of requirements: Input comes from an essentially infinite stream of random numbers between 1 and 10 Final output is either SUCCEED or FAIL There can be multiple objects 'listening' to the stream at any particular time, and they can begin listening at different times so they all may have a different concept of the 'first' number; therefore listeners to the stream need to be decoupled from the stream itself. Pseudocode: if (first number == 1) SUCCEED else if (first number >= 9) FAIL else { first = first number rest = rest of stream for each (n in rest) { if (n == 1) FAIL else if (n == first) SUCCEED else continue } } Here is a possible mutable implementation: sealed trait Result case object Fail extends Result case object Succeed extends Result case object NoResult extends Result class StreamListener { private var target: Option[Int] = None def evaluate(n: Int): Result = target match { case None => if (n == 1) Succeed else if (n >= 9) Fail else { target = Some(n) NoResult } case Some(t) => if (n == t) Succeed else if (n == 1) Fail else NoResult } } This will work but smells to me. StreamListener.evaluate is not referentially transparent. And the use of the NoResult token just doesn't feel right. It does have the advantage though of being clear and easy to use/code. Besides there has to be a functional solution to this right? I've come up with 2 other possible options: Having evaluate return a (possibly new) StreamListener, but this means I would have to make Result a subtype of StreamListener which doesn't feel right. Letting evaluate take a Stream[Int] as a parameter and letting the StreamListener be in charge of consuming as much of the Stream as it needs to determine failure or success. The problem I see with this approach is that the class that registers the listeners should query each listener after each number is generated and take appropriate action immediately upon failure or success. With this approach, I don't see how that could happen since each listener is forcing evaluation of the Stream until it completes evaluation. There is no concept here of a single number generation. Is there any standard scala/fp idiom I'm overlooking here?

    Just trying to figure a shorter way to do this: I'm using simpleXMLElement to parse an xml file and it's aggravating to have to call two lines to process an array when I know what node I want. Current code: $xml = new SimpleXMLElement($data); $r = $xml->xpath('///givexNumber'); $result["cardNum"] = $r[0]; What I would like to do would be something like I can do with DomX $result["cardNum"] = $xml->xpath('///givexNumber')->item(0)->nodeValue; Any ideas? I didn't really see that simplexmlelement can do this, but thought someone might know a trick or two.

    I need a tool which gets a list of machine names and file wildcards. Then it connects to all these machines (SSH) and begins to monitor changes (appendings to the end) in each file matched by wildcards. New lines in each such file are saved to the local machine to the file with the same name. (This is a task of real-time log files collecting.) I could use ssh + tail -f, of course, but it is not very robust: if a monitoring process dies and then restarts, some data from remote files may be lost (because tail -f does not save the position at which it is finished before). I may write this tool manually, but before - I'd like to know if such tool already exists or not.

  • In terminal, merging multiple folders into one.

    I have a backup directory created by WDBackup (western digital external HD backup util) that contains a directory for each day that it backed up and the incremental contents of just what was backed up. So the hierarchy looks like this: 20100101 My Documents Letter1.doc My Music Best Songs Every First Songs.mp3 My song.mp3 # modified 20100101 20100102 My Documents Important Docs Taxes.doc My Music My Song.mp3 # modified 20100102 ...etc... Only what has changed is backed up and the first backup that was ever made contains all the files selected for backup. What I'm trying to do now is incrementally copy, while keeping the folder structure, from oldest to newest, each of these dated folders into a 'merged' folder so that it overrides the older content and keeps the new stuff. As an example, if just using these two example folders, the final merged folder would look like this: Merged My Documents Important Docs Taxes.doc Letter1.doc My Music Best Songs Every First Songs.mp3 My Song.mp3 # modified 20100102 Hope that makes sense.     Hello, producing software for customers, mostly using MS SQL but some Oracle, a decision was made to plunge into Nhibernate (and C#). The task is to delete efficiently e.g. 10 000 rows from 100 000 and still stay sticked to ORM. I've tried named queries - link already, IQuery sql = s.GetNamedQuery("native-delete-car").SetString(0, "Kirsten"); sql.ExecuteUpdate(); but the best I have ever found seems to be: using (ITransaction tx = _session.BeginTransaction()) { try { string cmd = "delete from Customer where Id < GetSomeId()"; var count = _session.CreateSQLQuery(cmd).ExecuteUpdate(); ... Since it may not get into dB to get all complete rows before deleting them. My questions are: If there is a better way for this kind of delete. If there is a possibility to get the Where condition for Delete like this: Having a select statement (using LinQ to NHibernate) = which will generate appropriate SQL for DB = we get that Where condition and use it for Delete. Any ideas ? I know its lot but i really would like to use existing code to build upon so i can focus on business rules. Could splitting the requirements on 3 or 4 existing open source framework be possible ? Do u have any suggestion to add to the list before starting ? What open source tools would u use to achieve these ?

    I have been getting the following exception: The binary operator GreaterThanOrEqual is not defined for the types 'System.Nullable`1[System.DateTime]' and 'System.DateTime'. I am getting the left hand expression from a class property which is a nullable datetime variable and my right hand side is using Expression.Constant(new Nullable<DateTime>(DateTime.Now)) However I still get the above exception despite explicitly setting the right hand expression to a nullable type

  • ASP.NET 2.0 files work in one folder, but NOT in another

    I am about to leap of a building. I have created an app for a client and all the files are in a folder on their D drive. Now it is time to go production, so I copied all my files and folders to their excisting classic asp folder on the same drive. BUT NOTHING WORKS. The only difference I can see is that DEV does not require HTTPS like the production site. I also made sure all the permissions are the same on both folder. I made sure that the GAC has read rights using the aspnet_regiis tool. I am at the end of my debug knowlegde, could someone please help me out.   • How to open different App version for one given file extension

    We have a data files with an extension ".ppx" for our business app here. Users will typically have multiple versions of the application installed (side by side) for example version 1 and version 2. The ppx files are xml files and they contain the version of the app they were created from (v1 or v2). Lets say that we have AFileCreatedWithAppv1.ppx and AFileCreatedWithAppv2.ppx opens with version 1 or version 2 of our app respectivly when they both have the same file extension? It must be doable since that is what Visual Studio does. In fact, they even provide different icons for the same .sln extension to indicate what Visual Studio version it will open with. I learned that Visual Studio is using the Selector or Launcher in between, but then again, how do they change the icons in Windows? cheers :)

    I have two div elements that are twins (i.e. their dimensions and contents are identical). I want to move of those div-s over another, so that their corners are at exactly the same coordinates. What I try to do is: var offset = $('div#placeholder').offset(); $('div#overlay').css('position', 'absolute').css('left', offset.left + 'px').css('top', offset.top + 'px') -- but this causes the overlay to be exactly (or almost exactly, taking subpixel accuracy into account) 16px below the placeholder (below, i.e. overlay_top = placeholder_top + 16px). I'm aware that offset() gives position relative to the document, and position: absolute sets position relative to body element, but compensating for body offset() doesn't help much (I'm getting 8px offset, equal to margins): offset.top -= $('body').offset().top; offset.left -= $('body').offset().left; Also, compensating for body margins (in case they were different that offset() didn't help, as they were set to 8px). Does somebody know what I'm doing wrong here? UPDATE: Take a look at here - I'm getting the same result in FireFox 3.6.3 and Opera 10.10.

  • Telling between a "natural" HTTP 404 and a PHP Generated one

    So I have a file that should never be accessed by a user directly, but included in another PHP file. If the file is called directly, it generates a HTTP Status 404 Not Found to trick a possible attacker that such file doesn't exist. However, if the hacker could tell that the 404 was generated by PHP or is not "natural" then the whole point of the header would be lost. So is it possible to tell whether the 404 was generated by the server naturally (because the file really doesn't exist) or by a PHP code? PS: I know this question might seem pretty weird lol
