• Re-Route Mail to a port other than 25

  Is there a way to route mail to another port? I have an email account attached to my laptop that I'd like to be able to send and receive mail from. Due to mobility, I'll be passing through various networks that will probably block this port. My dynamic DNS provider allows me to utilize web-forwards for MX domains; is this possible? where I can web forward to a domain:port which is managed by my DNS provider when I traverse between networks. If not, is there a way? Of course i could use web-mail or relay-forwarding from my home server, but that's not geeky enough.

• Why is "sudo virsh" hanging in the console?

  I wanted to experiment with OpenStack on my iMac: So I installed Ubuntu Cloud Live Image on a VM and I also ran DevStack on a fresh Ubuntu 64-bit Server VM. The DevStack script hangs on the following line: instances=`sudo virsh list --all | grep $INSTANCE_NAME_PREFIX | sed "s/.*\($INSTANCE_NAME_PREFIX[0-9a-fA-F]*\).*/\1/g"` I commented that block and ran the script again, this time it did not hang; thus completing its run. I attempted to run sudo virsh list --all on my CloudLive VM and it just hands until I break out of it. Why is sudo virsh hanging? Your help is appreciated. Note 1: The virsh command responds without sudo. Note 2: Not sure it matters, but I'm running my Virtual Machines in VMWare Fusion.

  At minimum, an OpenGL Android game has a UI thread and a Renderer thread created by GLSurfaceView. Renderer.onDrawFrame() should be doing a minimum of work to get the higest FPS. The physics, AI, etc. don't need to run every frame, so we can put those in another thread. Now we have: Renderer thread - Update animations and draw polys Game thread - Logic & periodic physics, AI, etc. updates UI thread - Android UI interaction only Since you don't ever want to block the UI thread, I run one more thread for the game logic. Maybe that's not necessary though? Is there ever a reason to run game logic in the renderer thread?

  Hi, Im doing a POC using Aspectj. class BaseInfo{..} class UserInfo extends BaseInfo{..} class UserService { public void getUser(UserInfo userInfo){..} public void deleteUser(String userId){..} } I've defined an advice, that gets invoked when I pass an UserInfo instance.But when i try to pass the BaseInfo, the advice is not getting invoked. Below block executes the afterMethod as expected for getUser. &ltaop:pointcut id="aopafterMethod" expression="execution(* UserService.*(..,UserInfo,..))" / &gtaop:after pointcut-ref="aopafterMethod" method="afterMethod" / But when i try to give BaseInfo instead of UserInfo, the aspect is not getting triggered.   I am not really sure how to correctly describe my question, so please forgive me if this is a duplicate. I am creating a flowchart for my program where I implement a method. Let's assume I call this method someMethod. The C code could look something like this: bool someMethod(int Foo, int Bar) { foo += 5; bar -= 5; return (foo == bar); } This means that my flowchart will have a subroutine block where I call this function. But how do I correctly show the reader which integers I pass? And when I create the flowchart of "someMethod", I face a similar problem: how do I correctly show the reader that Foo and Bar are passed parameters?

• How can I acheive a smooth 2D lighting effect?

  I'm making a tile based game in XNA. So currently my lightning looks like this: How can I get it to look like this? Instead of each block having its own tint, it has a smooth overlay. I'm assuming some sort of shader, and to tell it the lighting and blur it some how. But im not an expert with shaders. My current lighting calculates the light, and then passes it to a spritebatch and draws with a color parameter. EDIT: No longer uses spritebatch tint, I was testing and now pass parameters to set the light values. But still looking for a way to smooth it.

  I have a site done in Rails, which uses javascript to load files and generate forms for the user to input certain information. Those files and parameters are then to be used in a fortran code on the server. When the UI was on the server (using Qt), I would create a parameters file and execute the fortran code using threads so I wouldn't block the computer. Now that is web-based, I need to make the server and browser talk. What's the procedure for that? where should I start looking? I'm already using rails + javascript. I need that extra tool to do the talking, and no idea where to start.

  Development has modified the code in purchase orders and requisition forms to prevent error FRM-40654 when there are trailing spaces in the tables for most of the fields.  After applying the patch, the form will still display the error but a requery will allow you to save the transaction. For the scenarios not covered in the fix, the FND log will now display the specific field that causes the error.  This an example of the FND log for one document where the note_to_vendor has trailing spaces: Form note_to_vendor oldvalue Database  note_to_vendor newvalue Failed first if statement when comparing fields FRM-40654: Record has been updated. Requery block to see change. This new patch includes the fix in Patch 14204845:"In Oracle Purchasing, leading or trailing spaces in po lines data was resulting in errors".  For more information on FRM-40654 errors see the patching section of Note 1203796.1. • What sort of things can cause a whole system to appear to hang for 100s-1000s of milliseconds?

  I am working on a Windows game and while rendering, some computers will experience intermittent pauses ("hitches" for lack of a better term). When profiled they appear in seemingly random places in the code. Eventually I noticed that it wasn't just my process that was affected, but (seemingly) every process on the system. All of the threads in my application hitch at once. The CPU utilization drops during these hitches and it appears as if most processes make no progress. This leads me to believe this may be an Operating System or Driver issue, but it only occurs while playing the game (and only on some systems). What sort of operations might the operating system be doing that would require the kernel to pause all user threads and block. Some kind of I/O? At first I thought of paging but my impression is that would only affect a single process, no? Some systems in use: Windows, DirectX (3d), nVidia cards (unknown if replicates on ATI), using overlapped io for streaming

• Can't boot to Ubuntu 11.10 after installation with Windows 7

  I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 on a machine with Windows 7 already installed. I want to setup the dualboot environment. I have a block of unallocated disk space at the end of the disk (some blog post suggested to do so). Then I started installing Ubuntu 11.10 on that part of disk. I installed the boot loader to /boot partition and the installation finished successfully. However, after installation, Ubuntu 11.10 doesn't show up on boot menu. Then I searched on Internet and I used EasyBCD to add a grub2 boot to boot menu. After this, the boot entry does show up in the boot menu, however it only boot into some sort of grub console. I tried many times, and it doesn't work. It looks like the boot loader is not properly installed? I only have one 1.5TB disk and the first 800GB is NTFS partition with Windows 7. Does this work?

  In bash at least, if and case blocks are closed like this: if some-expr then echo "hello world" fi case $some-var in [1-5]) do-a-thing ;; *) do-another-thing esac as opposed to the more typical close of end or endif/endcase. As far as I know, this rather funny convention is unique to shell scripting and I have never seen such an odd block terminator anywhere else. Sometimes things like this have an origin in another language (like Ruby's elsif coming from Perl), or a strange justification. Does this feature of shell scripting have a story behind it? Is it found in other languages?

• Ubuntu VM cannot start after Kernel upgrade

  Several Ubuntu 10.04 VMs were restarted after few months and began getting "Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)" message. Restoring those VMs from backup (to the "paused" state) allows to boot normally. However restarting the VM again results in the mentioned error message. I suspect it's the updated kernel version (2.6.32-37-server, 2.6.32-38-server) that misbehave - another Ubuntu VM (that's used as template for those failing VMs) still has 2.6.32-24-server and reboots fine. We're using HyperV (2008R2) as the server host. Nothing were changed in it's configuration. Has anyone faced this issue, please advise the solution. Many Thanks in advance!

  I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on an Asus Eee PC 1000HA. Since I upgraded to 12.04, I have had problems connecting to wifi. When I fly, I need to disable wifi. When I try to reconnect, the "enable networking" option is no longer available. If I type in the terminal "rfkill list", the following shows up: 0: eeepc-wlan: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: no If I type "rfkill unblock all", "enable networking" will become available and I am able to connect to wifi. How can I permanently remove this annoying Soft Block? I don't want to be typing up two lines of code. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• If C-Panel Indexing Manager sets a folder to "No Indexing" can it be crawled by a webcrawler?

  People are able to view directories / folders on my site right now. So, they could go to mysite.com/images and see the full index. To prevent this, C-Panel offers an option to set a directory / folder to "No Indexing" under the "Index Manager." Will this option allow webcrawlers to crawl / index the images? Or, is there a simpler alternative to block access to all folders directly while still having it SEO friendly? My old server restricted direct access to folders by default. But, the new one does not. Any ideas on this? Thanks!

Is there any way of determining if the ad was somehow generated of is it definitely the case that someone had to consciously take the ad out and if so who might have placed it?   I have just started a C programming course and so far have only done the basics like printf, read a little on variables etc on the course book. The teacher has tasked us with writing a program that will take a value entered by the user, this will be the number of students in the class (25 at the moment but can be variable). It will then list the number of students randomly and place them in 3 columns. The purpose is to sort students into groups of 3 randomly, then display on the screen in columns. Now my question is not for the code that defeats the object of me attempting the exercise, but how to structure it. I can see that using an array can be used to display the list, but really after some pointers on how best to approach the problem in blocks, then I can attempt to program each block.

• Make the player run onto stairs smoothly

  I have a 2D Platform game, where the player Always runs to the right, but the terrain isn't Always horizontal. Example: I implemented a bounding-box collision system that just checks for intersections with player box and the other blocks, to stop player from running if you encounter a big block, so that you have to jump, but when I put stairs, I want him to run smoothly just like he is on the horizontal ground. With the collision system you have to jump the stairs in order to pass them! I thought about generating a line between the edges of the stairs, and imposing the player movement on that line... What do you think? Is there something more clever to do?

  As the title goes , I have class named GetException.java,inside it ,I read a xml file in a static code block like(Because this document is shared): static{ ... document = db.parse(new File(System.getProperty("user.dir")+"/src/exception/ExceptionCode.xml")); ... } To test if the file path is correct, I write a main function just inside GetException.java, it proves that the path is correct ,xml file can be read successfully. My project root dir is "/home/wuchang/workspace/MongodbI". But When this Class is loaded from other class,such as I called one of its static functions , it reports the error message: /home/mrs/??/eclipse/src/exception/ExceptionCode.xml (No such file or directory) /home/mrs/??/eclipse/ is actually my eclipse installation directory.So , I wander how System.getProperty("user.dir") returned the eclipse installation directory to me ,instead of my project root directory?

• Touchpad stop working

  I'm in a HP 430 PC-Notebook using Oneiric. And sometimes my touchpad just stop working :(... I haven't installed anything, just safe playing with terminal following linuxcommand.org BTW my touchpad has a "hole" that in Windows, it works like this: two touch, block touchpad, two touch, unblock. And as far as I now, Ubuntu hasn't recognize this function so I think that the "hole" is not the problem... Also, I'm pretty sure that I haven't touch a little that... PD: Spanish speaker, sorry if "hole" is not the appropriate term haha.. Thanks!
