  • Help me understand WebDAV and Autoversioning

    I just read the WebDAV Appendex in the O'Reilly Subversion book. I don't quite understand it. It talked about users being able to "mount" WebDAV directories (trees) and manipulate the files like they would normally and on saves the server would automagically create a new revision. The way it explained it, it sounded like it would work for any program, but then at the end of the appendix, it listed a series of programs that worked with WebDAV servers, which leads me to think that maybe it doesn't work like it originally described it. My question is this: How exactly do you interact with a WebDAV repository? Can I do this for example: Copy a file locally via ftp, edit it with notepad++, and then upload it via ftp to the server and have the server do a commit and create a new revision with the file I just edited and uploaded. Also, if that is possible, what happens if two people edit the file locally (on their machines) and uploaded two reversions to the server? With webDAV will I be able to replace Dreamweaver's "Oops, someone edited this before you" with simple ftp uploads and subversion conflict resolutions?

  • Help with c# event listening and usercontrols

    OK so I have a page which has a listview on it. Inside the item template of the listview is a usercontrol. This usercontrol is trying to trigger an event so that the hosting page can listen to it. My problem is that the event is not being triggered as the handler is null. (ie. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have tried setting EnableViewState to true for my listview but that hasn't made a difference. Is there somewhere else I'm supposed to be wiring up the control handler? Note - apologies if I've got my terminology wrong and I'm referring to delegates as handlers and such :)

  • Need help with jQuery/AJAX call in Safari/Mac

    I've got something that works perfectly in FF and MSIE but it's not working properly in Safari. It's a form with selects that get updated via AJAX/jQuery from a MySQL DB. In Safari, when you select the first item, it correctly loads the options for the next select menu; however, when you choose one of those (which loads new options in a subsequent select menu), the whole form resets and is broken from that point on. Does anyone know of a Safari bug that would cause this? So it must not be part of the result. Now I want a view that returns the content elements including the right order. The result could be: { "content" : ["second", "first"] } In this case the order of the elements is already as it should be.     Hi to all. I'm triying to make a function that add a 'where' clause to a query based in a property and a value. This is a very simplefied version of my function. Private Function simplified(ByVal query As IQueryable(Of T), ByVal PValue As Long, ByVal p As PropertyInfo) As ObjectQuery(Of T) query = query.Where(Function(c) DirectCast(p.GetValue(c, Nothing), Long) = PValue) Dim t = query.ToList 'this line is only for testing, and here is the error raise Return query End Function The error message is: LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object CompareObjectEqual(System.Object, System.Object, Boolean)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression. Looks like a can't use GetValue inside a linq query. Can I achieve this in other way? Post your answer in C#/VB. Chose the one that make you feel more confortable. Thanks

For each pair of matching elements, the method compares each individual byte value and takes the larger of the two. I think I have optimized this method as much as possible in C# (probably I haven't, of course - suggestions on that score are welcome as well). My question is, is it worth it for me to move this method to an unmanaged C DLL? Would the resulting method execute faster (and how much faster), taking into account the overhead of marshalling my managed int arrays so they can be passed to the method? If doing this would get me, say, a 10% speed improvement, then it would not be worth my time for sure. If it was 2 or 3 times faster, then I would probably have to do it. Note: please, no "premature optimization" comments, thanks in advance. This is simply "optimization".

    I am extremely frustrated. I'm following a tutorial and mimicing it on my own. I've been able to sort out most of the errors so far but this one has me stumped. I have tried replacing all of the class files with the tutorial specimen ones but i still get the error.     Hi I am using the class public class SerializableDictionary : Dictionary, IXmlSerializable in order to serialize a dictionary. However it doesnt work when as values I have collelctions (eg List) or tyes other than the primitive types (eg. int, double, string....). My question is which types the TKey, TValue imply or can hold, and if there is way to have a serializable dictionary which collections as values.

  • Python program to search for specific strings in hash values (coding help)

    Trying to write a code that searches hash values for specific string's (input by user) and returns the hash if searchquery is present in that line. Doing this to kind of just learn python a bit more, but it could be a real world application used by an HR department to search a .csv resume database for specific words in each resume. I'd like this program to look through a .csv file that has three entries per line (id#;applicant name;resume text) I set it up so that it creates a hash, then created a string for the resume text hash entry, and am trying to use the .find() function to return the entire hash for each instance. What i'd like is if the word "gpa" is used as a search query and it is found in s['resumetext'] for three applicants(rows in .csv file), it prints the id, name, and resume for every row that has it.(All three applicants) As it is right now, my program prints the first row in the .csv file(print resume['id'], resume['name'], resume['resumetext']) no matter what the searchquery is, whether it's in the resumetext or not. lastly, are there better ways to doing this, by searching word documents, pdf's and .txt files in a folder for specific words using python (i've just started reading about the re module and am wondering if this may be the route, rather than putting everything in a .csv file.) def find_details(id2find): resumes_f=open("resume_data.csv") for each_line in resumes_f: s={} (s['id'], s['name'], s['resumetext']) = each_line.split(";") resumetext = str(s['resumetext']) if resumetext.find(id2find): return(s) else: print "No data matches your search query.
