  • force close when assign onclick to button

    - by Lynnooi
    hi, i am very new in android development as well as in java. i had developed an application that gets an image url from a site and wanted to download it into the device and later on i would like to enable users to set it as wallpapers. however, i am met a problem when assigning onclick event to a button. Once i uncomment the line in red, it will pop up a box stating that the application was stopped unexpectedly. Can someone please help me with this? private ImageView imView = null; public void onCreate(Bundle icicle) { super.onCreate(icicle); setContentView(R.layout.main); try { /* Create a URL we want to load some xml-data from. */ URL url = new URL(xmlURL); /* Get a SAXParser from the SAXPArserFactory. */ SAXParserFactory spf = SAXParserFactory.newInstance(); SAXParser sp = spf.newSAXParser(); /* Get the XMLReader of the SAXParser we created. */ XMLReader xr = sp.getXMLReader(); /* Create a new ContentHandler and apply it to the XML-Reader */ ExampleHandler myExampleHandler = new ExampleHandler(); xr.setContentHandler(myExampleHandler); /* Parse the xml-data from our URL. */ xr.parse(new InputSource(url.openStream())); /* Parsing has finished. */ /* Our ExampleHandler now provides the parsed data to us. */ ParsedExampleDataSet parsedExampleDataSet = myExampleHandler .getParsedData(); /* Set the result to be displayed in our GUI. */ if (myExampleHandler.filenames != null) { a = a + "\n" + myExampleHandler.filenames + ", by " + myExampleHandler.authors + "\nhits: " + myExampleHandler.hits + " downloads"; this.ed = myExampleHandler.thumbs; this.imageURL = myExampleHandler.mediafiles; } } catch (Exception e) { a = e.getMessage(); } // get thumbnail Context context = this.getBaseContext(); if (ed.length() != 0) { Drawable image = ImageOperations(context, this.ed, "image.jpg"); ImageView imgView = new ImageView(context); imgView = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.image1); imgView.setImageDrawable(image); } TextView tv = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.txt_name); tv.setText(a); Button bt3 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.get_imagebt); //bt3.setOnClickListener(getImageBtnOnClick); } OnClickListener getImageBtnOnClick = new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { downloadFile(imageURL); } }; void downloadFile(String fileUrl) { URL myFileUrl = null; try { myFileUrl = new URL(fileUrl); } catch (MalformedURLException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } try { HttpURLConnection conn = (HttpURLConnection) myFileUrl .openConnection(); conn.setDoInput(true); conn.connect(); int length = conn.getContentLength(); InputStream is = conn.getInputStream(); bmImg = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(is); // this.imView.setImageBitmap(bmImg); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } private Drawable ImageOperations(Context ctx, String url, String saveFilename) { try { InputStream is = (InputStream) this.fetch(url); Drawable d = Drawable.createFromStream(is, "src"); return d; } catch (MalformedURLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); return null; } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); return null; } } public Object fetch(String address) throws MalformedURLException, IOException { URL url = new URL(address); Object content = url.getContent(); return content; } Main.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/viewgroup"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/image1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center" /> <ImageView android:id="@+id/image2" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/txt_name" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_horizontal" /> <Button id="@+id/get_imagebt" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="xxx Get an image" android:layout_gravity="center" /> <ImageView id="@+id/imview" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center" /> </LinearLayout>

  • Tracking finger move in order to rotate a triangle : tracking is not perfect

    - by Laurent BERNABE
    I've written a custom view, with the OpenGL_1 technology, in order to let user rotate a red triangle just by dragging it along x axis. (Will give a rotation around Y axis). It works, but there is a bit of latency when dragging from one direction to the other (without releasing the mouse/finger). So it seems that my code is not yet "goal perfect". (I am convinced that no code is perfect in itself). I thought of using a quaternion, but maybe it won't be so usefull : must I really use a Quaternion (or a kind of Matrix) ? I've designed application for Android 4.0.3, but it could fit into Android api 3 (Android 1.5) as well (at least, I think it could). So here is my main layout : activity_main.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <com.laurent_bernabe.android.triangletournant3d.MyOpenGLView android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" /> </LinearLayout> Here is my main activity : MainActivity.java package com.laurent_bernabe.android.triangletournant3d; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.support.v4.app.NavUtils; import android.view.Menu; import android.view.MenuItem; public class MainActivity extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.activity_main, menu); return true; } @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { switch (item.getItemId()) { case android.R.id.home: NavUtils.navigateUpFromSameTask(this); return true; } return super.onOptionsItemSelected(item); } } And finally, my OpenGL view MyOpenGLView.java package com.laurent_bernabe.android.triangletournant3d; import java.nio.ByteBuffer; import java.nio.ByteOrder; import java.nio.FloatBuffer; import javax.microedition.khronos.egl.EGLConfig; import javax.microedition.khronos.opengles.GL10; import android.content.Context; import android.graphics.Point; import android.opengl.GLSurfaceView; import android.opengl.GLSurfaceView.Renderer; import android.opengl.GLU; import android.util.AttributeSet; import android.view.MotionEvent; public class MyOpenGLView extends GLSurfaceView implements Renderer { public MyOpenGLView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); setRenderer(this); } public MyOpenGLView(Context context) { this(context, null); } @Override public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { int actionMasked = event.getActionMasked(); switch(actionMasked){ case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN: savedClickLocation = new Point((int) event.getX(), (int) event.getY()); break; case MotionEvent.ACTION_UP: savedClickLocation = null; break; case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE: Point newClickLocation = new Point((int) event.getX(), (int) event.getY()); int dx = newClickLocation.x - savedClickLocation.x; angle += Math.toRadians(dx); break; } return true; } @Override public void onDrawFrame(GL10 gl) { gl.glClear(GL10.GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL10.GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT); gl.glLoadIdentity(); GLU.gluLookAt(gl, 0f, 0f, 5f, 0f, 0f, 0f, 0f, 1f, 0f ); gl.glRotatef(angle, 0f, 1f, 0f); gl.glColor4f(1f, 0f, 0f, 0f); gl.glVertexPointer(2, GL10.GL_FLOAT, 0, triangleCoordsBuff); gl.glDrawArrays(GL10.GL_TRIANGLES, 0, 3); } @Override public void onSurfaceChanged(GL10 gl, int width, int height) { gl.glViewport(0, 0, width, height); gl.glMatrixMode(GL10.GL_PROJECTION); gl.glLoadIdentity(); GLU.gluPerspective(gl, 60f, (float) width / height, 0.1f, 10f); gl.glMatrixMode(GL10.GL_MODELVIEW); } @Override public void onSurfaceCreated(GL10 gl, EGLConfig config) { gl.glEnable(GL10.GL_DEPTH_TEST); gl.glClearDepthf(1.0f); gl.glEnableClientState(GL10.GL_VERTEX_ARRAY); buildTriangleCoordsBuffer(); } private void buildTriangleCoordsBuffer() { ByteBuffer buffer = ByteBuffer.allocateDirect(4*triangleCoords.length); buffer.order(ByteOrder.nativeOrder()); triangleCoordsBuff = buffer.asFloatBuffer(); triangleCoordsBuff.put(triangleCoords); triangleCoordsBuff.rewind(); } private float [] triangleCoords = {-1f, -1f, +1f, -1f, +1f, +1f}; private FloatBuffer triangleCoordsBuff; private float angle = 0f; private Point savedClickLocation; } I don't think I really have to give you my manifest file. But I can if you think it is necessary. I've just tested on Emulator, not on real device. So, how can improve the reactivity ? Thanks in advance.

  • Why html frame behave differently in Firefox and IE8 ?

    - by Frank
    I use html frame on my webiste, it's been running for I while, usually I only use Firefox to surf the net, my site looks and functions ok, but today I suddenly found IE8 has a problem with the frame on my site, if I click on the top menu items, it's supposed to display the content in the lower part of the frame, it does this correctly in Firefox, but in IE8, it displays the content in the upper part of the frame and replaces the menu items. In order to give more details, I'll include a simplified version of my html pages, at the top level there are two items, an index.html page and a file directory, all the pages except the index.html are in the directory, so it looks like this : index.html Dir_Docs 00_Home.html 00_Install_Java.html 00_Top_Menu.html 01_Home_Menu.html 01_Install_Java_Menu.html 10_Home_Welcome.html 10_How_To_Install_Java.html [ index.html ] <Html> <Head><Title>Java Applications : Tv_Panel, Java_Sound, Biz Manager and Web Academy</Title></Head> <Frameset Rows="36,*" Border=5 Bordercolor=#006B9F> <Frame Src=Dir_Docs/00_Top_Menu.html Frameborder=YES Scrolling=no Marginheight=1 Marginwidth=1> <Frame Src=Dir_Docs/00_Home.html Name=lower_frame Marginheight=1 Marginwidth=1> </Frameset> </Html> [ 00_Home.html ] <Html> <Head><Title>NMJava Application Development</Title></Head> <Frameset Cols="217,*" Align=center BorderColor="#006B9F"> <Frame Src=01_Home_Menu.html Frameborder=YES Name=side_menu Marginheight=1 Marginwidth=1> <Frame Src=10_Home_Welcome.html Name=content Marginheight=1 Marginwidth=1> </Frameset> </Html> [ 00_Install_Java.html ] <Html> <Head> <Title>Install Java</Title> </Head> <Frameset Cols="217,*" Align=center BorderColor="#006B9F"> <Frame Src=01_Install_Java_Menu.html Frameborder=YES Name=side_menu Marginheight=1 Marginwidth=1> <Frame Src=10_How_To_Install_Java.html Name=content Marginheight=1 Marginwidth=1> </Frameset> </Html> [ 00_Top_Menu.html ] <Html> <Head>Top Menu</Head> <Body> <Center> <Base target=lower_frame> <Table Border=1 Cellpadding=3 Width=100%> <Tr> <Td Align=Center Bgcolor=#3366FF><A Href=00_Home.html><Font Size=4 Color=White>Home</Font></A></Td> <Td Align=Center Bgcolor=#3366FF><A Href=00_Install_Java.html><Font Size=4 Color=White>Install Java</Font></A></Td> </Tr> </Table> </Center> </Body> </Html> [ 01_Home_Menu.html ] <Html> <Head><Title>Home Menu</Title></Head> <Base Target=content> <Body Bgcolor=#7799DD> <Center> <Table Border=1 Width=100%> <Tr><Td Align=center Bgcolor=#66AAFF><A Href=10_Home_Welcome.html>Welcome</A></Td></Tr> </Table> </Center> </Body> </Html> [ 01_Install_Java_Menu.html ] <Html> <Head><Title>Install Java</Title></Head> <Base Target=content> <Body Bgcolor=#7799DD> <Center> <Table Border=1 Width=100%> <Tr><Td Align=Center Bgcolor=#66AAFF><A Href=10_How_To_Install_Java.html>How To Install Java ?</A></Td></Tr> </Table> </Center> </Body> </Html> [ 10_Home_Welcome.html ] <Html> <Head><Title>NMJava For Software Development</Title></Head> <Body> <Center> <P> <Font Size=5 Color=blue>Welcome To NMJava For Software Development</Font> <P> </Center> </Body> </Html> [ 10_How_To_Install_Java.html ] <Html> <Head> <Title>Install Java</Title> </Head> <Body> <Center> <Br> <Font Size=5 Color=#0022AE><A Href=http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp>How To Install Java ?</A></Font> <Br> <P> <Table Width=90% Cellspacing=5 Cellpadding=5> <Tr><Td><Font Color=#0022AE> You need JRE 6 (Java Runtime Environment) to run the programs on this site.   • Segmentation fault when running a python script/GTKBuilder app?

    - by pythonscript
    I'm trying to learn GUI programming using python2 and GTKBuilder, but I get a segmentation fault when I run the code. This is my file, created in Glade as a GTKBuilder file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <interface> <!-- interface-requires gtk+ 3.0 --> <object class="GtkWindow" id="mainWindow"> <property name="can_focus">False</property> <child> <object class="GtkBox" id="box1"> <property name="visible">True</property> <property name="can_focus">False</property> <property name="orientation">vertical</property> <child> <object class="GtkBox" id="box2"> <property name="visible">True</property> <property name="can_focus">False</property> <property name="halign">start</property> <property name="margin_left">146</property> <property name="margin_right">276</property> <child> <object class="GtkLabel" id="label1"> <property name="visible">True</property> <property name="can_focus">False</property> <property name="label" translatable="yes">label</property> </object> <packing> <property name="expand">True</property> <property name="fill">False</property> <property name="position">0</property> </packing> </child> <child> <object class="GtkEntry" id="entryName"> <property name="visible">True</property> <property name="can_focus">True</property> <property name="margin_bottom">4</property> <property name="hexpand">True</property> <property name="vexpand">True</property> <property name="invisible_char">?</property> <property name="placeholder_text">Please enter your name here...</property> </object> <packing> <property name="expand">True</property> <property name="fill">True</property> <property name="position">1</property> </packing> </child> </object> <packing> <property name="expand">False</property> <property name="fill">True</property> <property name="position">0</property> </packing> </child> <child> <object class="GtkButton" id="buttonWriteNameToFile"> <property name="label" translatable="yes">button</property> <property name="use_action_appearance">False</property> <property name="visible">True</property> <property name="can_focus">True</property> <property name="receives_default">True</property> <property name="use_action_appearance">False</property> <signal name="clicked" handler="buttonWriteNameToFile_clicked" swapped="no"/> </object> <packing> <property name="expand">False</property> <property name="fill">True</property> <property name="position">1</property> </packing> </child> <child> <placeholder/> </child> <child> <placeholder/> </child> </object> </child> </object> </interface> My python code, based on this question, is this: #!/usr/bin/env python import gtk class NameApp: def __init__(self): filename = "project.glade" builder = gtk.Builder() builder.add_from_file(filename) builder.connect_signals(self) builder.get_object("mainWindow").show_all() def buttonWriteNameToFile_clicked(self, widget): print("File write code...") if __name__ == "__main__": app = NameApp() gtk.main() Running the file with python2 yields this error: name.py:9: Warning: cannot create instance of abstract (non-instantiatable) type `GtkBox' builder.add_from_file(filename) ./geany_run_script.sh: line 5: 14897 Segmentation fault python2 "name.py" I thought I followed that example as closely as possible, and I don't see any differences outside of the GTKBuilder file. However, the example in the linked question runs successfully on my machine. I don't know if it's relevant, but I'm running Arch Linux x86_64.

  • Dojo - How to position tooltip close to text?

    - by user244394
    Like the title says i want to be able to display the tooltip close to the text, currently it is displayed far away in the cell. Tobe noted the tooltip positions correctly for large text, only fails for small text. In DOJO How can i position the tooltip close to the text? I have this bit of code snippet that display the tooltip in the grid cells. I mean in such a way, that GUI is described entirely in a human-readable (and human-writable) plain text file (code) code is terse (1 or 2 lines of code per widget/event pair), suitable for scripting structure and operation of the GUI is evident from the code (nesting of widgets and flow of events) details about how to build the GUI are hidden (things like mainloop, attaching event listeners, etc.) auto-layouts are supported (vboxes, hboxes, etc.) As answers suggest, this may be defined as declarative GUI programming, but it is not necessarily such. Any approach is OK if it works, is easy to use and terse. There are some GUI libraries/toolkits like this. They are listed below. Please extend the list if you see a qualifying toolkit missing. Indicate if the project is crossplatform, mature, active, and give an example if possible. Please use this wiki to discuss only Open Source projects. This is the list so far (in alphabetical order): Fudgets Fudgets is a Haskell library. Platform: Unix. Status: Experimental, but still maintained. An example: import Fudgets main = fudlogue (shellF "Hello" (labelF "Hello, world!" >+< quitButtonF)) GNUstep Renaissance Renaissance allows to describe GUI in simple XML. Platforms: OSX/GNUstep. Status: part of GNUstep. An example below: <window title="Example"> <vbox> <label font="big"> Click the button below to quit the application </label> <button title="Quit" action="terminate:"/> </vbox> </window> HTML HTML-based GUI (HTML + JS). Crossplatform, mature. Can be used entirely on the client side. Looking for a nice “helloworld” example. JavaFX JavaFX is usable for standalone (desktop) apps as well as for web applications. Not completely crossplatform, not yet completely open source. Status: 1.0 release. An example: Frame { content: Button { text: "Press Me" action: operation() { System.out.println("You pressed me"); } } visible: true } Screenshot is needed. Phooey Phooey is another Haskell library. Crossplatform (wxWidgets), HTML+JS backend planned. Mature and active. An example (a little more than a helloworld): ui1 :: UI () ui1 = title "Shopping List" $ do a <- title "apples" $ islider (0,10) 3 b <- title "bananas" $ islider (0,10) 7 title "total" $ showDisplay (liftA2 (+) a b) PythonCard PythonCard describes GUI in a Python dictionary. Crossplatform (wxWidgets). Some apps use it, but the project seems stalled. There is an active fork. I skip PythonCard example because it is too verbose for the contest. Shoes Shoes for Ruby. Platforms: Win/OSX/GTK+. Status: Young but active. A minimal app looks like this: Shoes.app { @push = button "Push me" @note = para "Nothing pushed so far" @push.click { @note.replace "Aha! Click!" } } Tcl/Tk Tcl/Tk. Crossplatform (its own widget set). Mature (probably even dated) and active. An example: #!/usr/bin/env wish button .hello -text "Hello, World!" -command { exit } pack .hello tkwait window . tekUI tekUI for Lua (and C). Platforms: X11, DirectFB. Status: Alpha (usable, but API still evolves). An example: #/usr/bin/env lua ui = require "tek.ui" ui.Application:new { Children = { ui.Window:new { Title = "Hello", Children = { ui.Text:new { Text = "_Hello, World!", Style = "button", Mode = "button", }, }, }, }, }:run() Treethon Treethon for Python. It describes GUI in a YAML file (Python in a YAML tree). Platform: GTK+. Status: work in proress. A simple app looks like this: _import: gtk view: gtk.Window() add: - view: gtk.Button('Hello World') on clicked: print view.get_label() Yet unnamed Python library by Richard Jones: This one is not released yet. The idea is to use Python context managers (with keyword) to structure GUI code. See Richard Jones' blog for details. with gui.vertical: text = gui.label('hello!') items = gui.selection(['one', 'two', 'three']) with gui.button('click me!'): def on_click(): text.value = items.value text.foreground = red XUL XUL + Javascript may be used to create stand-alone desktop apps with XULRunner as well as Mozilla extensions. Mature, open source, crossplatform. <?xml version="1.0"?> <?xml-stylesheet href="chrome://global/skin/" type="text/css"?> <window id="main" title="My App" width="300" height="300" xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"> <caption label="Hello World"/> </window> Thank your for contributions!

  • IE7 doesn't render part of page until the window resizes or switch between tabs

    - by BlackMael
    I have a problem with IE7. I have a fixed layout for keeping the header and a sidepanel fixed on a page leaving only the "main content" area switch can happily scroll it's content. This layout works perfectly fine for IE6 and IE8, but sometimes one page may start "hiding" the content that should be showing in the "main content" area. The page finishes loading just fine. For a split second IE7 will render the main content just fine and then it will immediately hide it from view.. somewhere.. It would also seem that it only experiences this problem when there is enough content to force the "main content" area to scroll. By resizing the window or switching to another open tab and back again will cause IE7 to show the page as it was intended. Note the same problem does occur with IE8 in compatibility mode, but the page is rendered correctly in IE8 mode. If need be I can attach the basic CSS styling I use, but I first want to see if this is a known issue with IE7. Does IE7 have issues with positioned layout and overflow scrolling that is sometimes likes to forgot to finish rendering the page correctly until some window redraw event forces to finish rendering? Please remember, this exact same layout is used across multiple pages in the site as it is set up in a master page. It is just (in this case) one page that is experiencing this problem. Other pages with the exact same layout do render correctly. Even if the main content is full enough to also scroll. UPDATE: A related question which doesn't have an answer at this point. LATE UPDATE: Adding example masterpage and css Please note this same layout is the same for all the pages in the application. My problem with IE7 only occurs on one such page. All other pages have happily render correctly in IE7. Just one page, using the exact same layout, has issues where it sometimes hides the content in the "work-space" div. • Iterate through all form fields within a specified DIV tag.

    - by user344255
    I need to be able to iterate through all the form fields within a specified DIV tag. Basically, any given DIV tag can have multiple form fields (which is easy enough to parse through), but it can also any number of tables or even additional DIV tags (adding additional levels of hierarchical layering). I've written a basic function that goes through each of the direct descendants of the parent node (in this case, the DIV tag) and it clears out its value. This part works fine. The problem is getting it to parse children when children (grandchildren) of their own. It winds up getting caught up in an infinite loop. In this case, I need be able to find all the form fields within DIV tag "panSomePanel", which will include some direct children (txtTextField1), but also some grandchildren who are within nested TABLE objects and/or nested DIV tags (radRadioButton, DESC_txtTextArea). Here is a sample DIV and its contents: <DIV id="panSomePanel"> <INPUT name="txtTextField1" type="text" id="txtTextField1" size="10"/><BR><BR> <TABLE id="tblRadioButtons" border="0"> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_0" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="1" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_0">Value 1</LABEL> </TD> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_5" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="23" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_5">Value 23</LABEL> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_1" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="2" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_1">Value 2</LABEL> </TD> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_6" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="24" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_6">Value 24</LABEL> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_2" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="3" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_2">Value 3</LABEL> </TD> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_7" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="25" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_7">Value 25</LABEL> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_3" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="21" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_3">Value 21</LABEL> </TD> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_8" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="4" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_8">Value 4</LABEL> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_4" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="22" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_4">Value 22</LABEL> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> <DIV id="panAnotherPanel"><BR> <TABLE cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" style="display:inline;vertical-align:top;"> <TR> <TD valign="top"> <TEXTAREA name="DESC:txtTextArea" rows="3" cols="48" id="DESC_txtTextArea"></TEXTAREA>&nbsp; </TD> <TD valign="top"><SPAN id="DESC_lblCharCount" style="font-size:8pt;"></SPAN> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </DIV> </DIV> Here is the function I've written: function clearChildren(node) { var child; if (node.childNodes.length > 0) { child= node.firstChild; } while(child) { if (child.type == "text") { alert(child.id); child.value = ""; } else if (child.type == "checkbox") { child.checked = false; } else if (child.type == "radio") { alert(child.id); child.checked = false; } else if (child.type == "textarea") { child.innerText = ""; } //alert(child.childNodes.length); if (child.childNodes.length > 0) { var grandchild = child.firstChild; while (grandchild) { clearChildren(grandchild); } grandchild = grandchild.nextSibling; } child = child.nextSibling; } }

  • Saving to SharedPreferences from custom DialogPreference

    - by Ronnie
    I've currently got a preferences screen, and I've created a custom class that extends DialogPreference and is called from within my Preferences. My preferences data seems store/retrieve from SharedPreferences without an issue, but I'm trying to add 2 more sets of settings from the DialogPreference. Basically I have two issues that I have not been able to find. Every site I've seen gives me the same standard info to save/restore data and I'm still having problems. Firstly I'm trying to save a username and password to my SharedPreferences (visible in the last block of code) and if possibly I'd like to be able to do it in the onClick(). My preferences XML that calls my DialogPreference: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <PreferenceScreen xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <PreferenceCategory> <com.rone.optusmon.AccDialog android:key="AccSettings" android:title="Account Settings" android:negativeButtonText="Cancel" android:positiveButtonText="Save" /> </PreferenceCategory> </PreferenceScreen> My Preference Activity Class: package com.rone.optusmon; import android.app.AlertDialog; import android.content.Context; import android.content.DialogInterface; import android.os.Bundle; import android.preference.Preference; import android.preference.Preference.OnPreferenceClickListener; import android.preference.PreferenceActivity; import android.view.KeyEvent; public class EditPreferences extends PreferenceActivity { Context context = this; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); addPreferencesFromResource(R.xml.preferences); } } My Custom DialogPreference Class file: package com.rone.optusmon; import android.content.Context; import android.content.DialogInterface; import android.content.SharedPreferences; import android.preference.DialogPreference; import android.preference.PreferenceManager; import android.text.method.PasswordTransformationMethod; import android.util.AttributeSet; import android.view.View; import android.widget.CheckBox; import android.widget.CompoundButton; import android.widget.CompoundButton.OnCheckedChangeListener; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.LinearLayout; import android.widget.TextView; import android.widget.Toast; public class AccDialog extends DialogPreference implements DialogInterface.OnClickListener { private TextView mUsername, mPassword; private EditText mUserbox, mPassbox; CharSequence mPassboxdata, mUserboxdata; private CheckBox mShowchar; private Context mContext; private int mWhichButtonClicked; public AccDialog(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); mContext = context; } @Override protected View onCreateDialogView() { @SuppressWarnings("unused") LinearLayout.LayoutParams params; LinearLayout layout = new LinearLayout(mContext); layout.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL); layout.setPadding(10, 10, 10, 10); layout.setBackgroundColor(0xFF000000); mUsername = new TextView(mContext); mUsername.setText("Username:"); mUsername.setTextColor(0xFFFFFFFF); mUsername.setPadding(0, 8, 0, 3); mUserbox = new EditText(mContext); mUserbox.setSingleLine(true); mUserbox.setSelectAllOnFocus(true); mPassword = new TextView(mContext); mPassword.setText("Password:"); mPassword.setTextColor(0xFFFFFFFF); mPassbox = new EditText(mContext); mPassbox.setSingleLine(true); mPassbox.setSelectAllOnFocus(true); mShowchar = new CheckBox(mContext); mShowchar.setOnCheckedChangeListener(mShowchar_listener); mShowchar.setText("Show Characters"); mShowchar.setTextColor(0xFFFFFFFF); mShowchar.setChecked(false); if(!mShowchar.isChecked()) { mPassbox.setTransformationMethod(new PasswordTransformationMethod()); } layout.addView(mUsername); layout.addView(mUserbox); layout.addView(mPassword); layout.addView(mPassbox); layout.addView(mShowchar); return layout; // Access default SharedPreferences SharedPreferences settings = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); } public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) { mWhichButtonClicked = which; // if statement to set save/cancel button roles if (mWhichButtonClicked == -1) { Toast.makeText(mContext, "Save was clicked", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); mUserboxdata = mUserbox.getText(); mPassboxdata = mPassbox.getText(); // Save user preferences SharedPreferences settings = getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); SharedPreferences.Editor editor = settings.edit(); editor.putString("usernamekey", (String) mUserboxdata); editor.putString("passwordkey", (String) mPassboxdata); } else { Toast.makeText(mContext, "Cancel was clicked", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } } In my SharedPreferences settings = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); line, Eclipse says "The method getDefaultSharedPreferences(AccDialog) is undefined for the type AccDialog". I've attempted to change the context to my preferences class, use a blank context and I've also tried naming my SharedPrefs and using "getSharedPreferences()" as well. I'm just not sure exactly what I'm doing here. As I'm quite new to Java/Android/coding in general, could you please be as detailed as possible with any help, eg. which of my files I need to write the code in and whereabouts in that file should I write it (i.e. onCreate(), onClick(), etc) Edit: I will need to the preferences to be Application-wide accessible, not activity-wide. Thanks

  • CSS Menu loses focus when part of jquery hover()

    - by Steve Syfuhs
    I have the following html (viewable at www.communityftw.com) <table width="100%"> <tr> <td style="text-align: left"> <!-- 2008.3.1314.35 --><span id="headerSearch1_sb_form_q_wrapper" class="RadInput_Default" style="white-space:nowrap;"><input value="language..." type="text" size="20" id="headerSearch1_sb_form_q_text" name="headerSearch1_sb_form_q_text" class="riTextBox riEmpty sw_qboxTop" name="q" style="width:140px;" /><input id="headerSearch1_sb_form_q" name="ctl00$headerSearch1$sb_form_q" class="rdfd_" style="visibility:hidden;margin:-18px 0 0 0;width:1px;height:1px;overflow:hidden;border:0;padding:0;" type="text" value="" /><input id="headerSearch1_sb_form_q_ClientState" name="headerSearch1_sb_form_q_ClientState" type="hidden" /></span> <input type="submit" name="ctl00$headerSearch1$sb_form_go" value="" id="headerSearch1_sb_form_go" class="sw_qbtnTop" /> </td> <td style="text-align: left"> <ul id="menu"> <li class="languageContainer"> <div> <a href="#" id="languageField"> <img src="/images/flags/ca.png" alt="Canada" /> Canada (English)</a> </div> <ul id="language"> <li><a href="#" id="A1"> <img src="/images/flags/ca.png" alt="Canada" /> Canada (French)</a> </li> <li><a href="#" id="A2"> <img src="/images/flags/us.png" alt="United States" /> United States</a> </li> <li><a href="#" id="A3"> <img src="/images/flags/de.png" alt="Germany" /> Germany</a> </li> <li><a href="#" id="A4"> <img src="/images/flags/fr.png" alt="France" /> France</a> </li> <li><a href="#" id="A5"> <img src="/images/flags/ru.png" alt="Russia" /> Russia</a> </li> <li class="last"> <img alt="" src="images/langLocDrop_r4_c1.png" /> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> </td> </tr> </table> Javascript/jquery $('#slide').animate({ top: '-=34' }, 1000); $("#slide").hover(function () { $(this).animate({ top: '+=34' }); }, function () { $(this).animate({ top: '-=34' }); }); menu { margin: 0px; padding: 0px; list-style: none; display: inline-block; float: left; z-index: 1000; } menu a { color: #dc2525; text-decoration: none; } menu li { background: none repeat scroll 0 0; cursor: pointer; float: left; position: relative; } menu li a:hover { color: orange; } menu ul { padding: 0px; margin: 0px; display: block; display: inline; } menu li ul { position: absolute; left: -15px; top: 0px; margin-top: 20px; width: 170px; line-height: 16px; background-image: url(/images/langLocDrop_r2_c1.png); display: none; } menu li:hover ul { display: block; } menu li ul li { display: block; margin: 5px 20px; padding: 5px 0px; border-top: dotted 1px #606060; list-style-type: none; } menu li ul li:first-child { border-top: none; } menu li ul li a { display: block; } menu li ul li a:hover { color: orange; } .languageContainer div { display: inline; padding: 5px; } languageField img { display: inline; vertical-align: middle; } language img { display: inline; } menu .last { background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: none; position: relative; border: none; height: 0px; } What I'm trying to do is have a menu mostly hidden at the top except when you mouse over it, and then have a submenu (just css driven) pop out when you mouse over the language. What is happening though is that when I move onto the language list, and I go past Germany (~50% down the list?), the hover() loses focus and closes the original menu, which closes the language menu. Any idea's what is causing the issue? Any ideas how to fix the issue? I have tried the hoverIntent() plugin as well to no avail.

  • CSS layout changes in Internet explorer

    - by user1784103
    My problem: I just coded a website that is styled just fine in chrome and firefox. However in internet explorer(9) it breaks. the gray header background is supposed to be pushed up to the right of the logo block, and the buttons are supposed to be in the dark grey area. I posted my code. I'm no expert at css, any tips would be greatly appreciated. • Problems with a from CSS

    - by Michael
    I am trying to create a fairly basic form with in my maincontent. I am sure I am coding things incorrectly and it is driving me crazy. Note my code. I get extremely wide vertical spacing in IE 7 and the bacground color between the field sets does not work correctly. All is good in FF. My CSS is: fieldset { margin: 1.5em 0 0 0; padding: 0; border-style: none; border-top: 1px solid #BFBAB0; background-color: #FFFFFF; } legend { margin-left: 1em; color: #000000; font-weight: bold; } fieldset ol { padding: 1em 1em 0 1em; list-style: none; } fieldset li { padding-bottom: 1em; } fieldset.submit { border-style: none; } { var w = document.myform.mylist.selectedIndex; var selected_text = document.myform.mylist.options[w].text; alert(selected_text); } label em { display: block; color: #900; font-size: 85%; font-style: normal; text-transform: uppercase; } This is my html code. <div id="mainContent1"> <form name="myform"> <label for="mylist"><strong>Select an Account Type:</strong></label> <select name="mylist"><option value="traditional">Traditional Account</option> <option value="paperless">Paperless Account</option> </select> </form> <br /><a> </a> <form action="example.php"> <fieldset> <legend>Contact Details</legend> <ol> <li> <label for="name">Name:</label> <input id="name" name="name" class="text" type="text" /> <label for="name"> <em>required</em> </label> </li> <li> <label for="email">Email address:</label> <input id="email" name="email" class="text" type="text" /> <label for="name"> <em>required</em> </li> <li> <label for="phone">Telephone:</label> <input id="phone" name="phone" class="text" type="text" /> <label for="name"> <em>required</em> <ol> <li> <input id="option1" name="option1" class="checkbox" type="checkbox" value="1" /> <label for="option1">Savings</label> </li> <li> <input id="option2" name="option2" class="checkbox" type="checkbox" value="1" /> <label for="option2">Checkings</label> </li> </ol> </fieldset> <fieldset> <legend>Delivery Address</legend> <ol> <li> <label for="address1">Address 1:</label> <input id="address1" name="address1" class="text" type="text" /> </li> <li> <label for="city">City:</label> <input id="city" name="city" class="text" type="text" /> </li> <li> <label for="postcode">Zip Code:</label> <input id="postcode" name="postcode" class="text textSmall" type="text" /> </li> <li> <label for="country">Country:</label> <input id="country" name="country" class="text" type="text" /> </li> </ol> </fieldset> <fieldset class="submit"> <input class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit" /> </fieldset> <fieldset class="clear"> <input class="clear" type="clear" value="Submit" /> </fieldset> </form>

  • JScrollPane content to image

    - by Sebastian Ikaros Rizzo
    I'm trying to save the main viewport and headers of a JScrollPane (larger than screen) to PNG image files. I created 3 classes extending JPanel (MainTablePanel, MapsHeaderPanel and ItemsHeaderPanel) and set them to the viewports. Each of them has this method: public BufferedImage createImage() { BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(getSize().width, getSize().height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB); Graphics g = bi.createGraphics(); paint(g); g.dispose(); return bi; } Each class has also a paint method, which paints the background and then call the super.paint() to paint some label. For example: public void paint(Graphics g){ g.setColor(Color.BLACK); g.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight()); g.setColor(new Color(255, 255, 0, 50)); // for loop that paints some vertical yellow lines for(int i=0; i<getWidth(); i+=K.mW){ g.fillRect(i-1, 0, 2, getHeight()); if(i%(K.mW*5)==0){ g.fillRect(i-2, 0, 4, getHeight()); } } // called to pain some rotated JLabels super.paint(g); } From an external JFrame I then tried to save them to PNG file, using this code: BufferedImage tableImg = mainTableP.createImage(); BufferedImage topImg = mapsHeaderP.createImage(); BufferedImage leftImg = itemsHeaderP.createImage(); ImageIO.write(tableImg, "png", new File(s.homeDir+"/table.png")); ImageIO.write(topImg, "png", new File(s.homeDir+"/top.png")); ImageIO.write(leftImg, "png", new File(s.homeDir+"/left.png")); This is a screenshot of the application running: screenshot And this is the header exported: top If I comment the "super.paint(g)" instruction, I obtain a correct image (thus without all JLables, clearly). It seems like the second paint (super.paint(g)) is painted shifted into the BufferedImage and taking elements outside its JPanel. Somebody could explain me this behaviour? Thank you. ========== EDIT for SSCCE ==================================== This should compile. You can execute it as it is, and in c:\ you'll find two images (top.png and left.png) that should be the same as the two headers. Unfortunately, they are not. Background is not painted. Moreover (especially if you look at left.png) you can see that the labels are painted twice and shifted (note, for example, "Left test 21"). import java.awt.*; import java.awt.image.BufferedImage; import java.io.File; import javax.imageio.ImageIO; import javax.swing.*; public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); frame.setLayout(null); frame.setSize(800, 600); JScrollPane scrollP = new JScrollPane(); scrollP.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); scrollP.setHorizontalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); MyPanel top = new MyPanel(); for(int i=0; i<30; i++){ JLabel label = new JLabel("Test "+i); label.setOpaque(false); label.setBounds(50*i, 40, 50, 20); label.setForeground(Color.GREEN); top.add(label); } top.setLayout(null); top.setOpaque(false); top.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(50*30, 200)); top.validate(); MyPanel left = new MyPanel(); for(int i=0; i<30; i++){ JLabel label = new JLabel("Left test "+i); label.setBounds(0, 50*i, 100, 20); label.setForeground(Color.RED); left.add(label); } left.setLayout(null); left.setOpaque(false); left.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(200, 50*30)); MyPanel center = new MyPanel(); center.setLayout(null); center.setOpaque(false); center.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(50*30, 50*30)); scrollP.setViewportView(center); scrollP.setColumnHeaderView(top); scrollP.setRowHeaderView(left); scrollP.setBounds(0, 50, 750, 500); frame.add(scrollP); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(javax.swing.WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setVisible(true); try{ BufferedImage topImg = top.createImage(); ImageIO.write(topImg, "png", new File("C:/top.png")); BufferedImage leftImg = left.createImage(); ImageIO.write(leftImg, "png", new File("C:/left.png")); }catch(Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } } class MyPanel extends JPanel{ public void paint(Graphics g){ g.setColor(Color.BLACK); g.fillRect(0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight()); g.setColor(new Color(255, 255, 0, 50)); for(int i=0; i<getWidth(); i+=50){ g.fillRect(i-1, 0, 2, getHeight()); } super.paint(g); // COMMENT this line to obtain background images } public BufferedImage createImage() { BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(getSize().width, getSize().height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_ARGB); Graphics g = bi.createGraphics(); paint(g); g.dispose(); return bi; } }

  • Record audio via MediaRecorder

    - by Isuru Madusanka
    I am trying to record audio by MediaRecorder, and I get an error, I tried to change everything and nothing works. Last two hours I try to find the error, I used Log class too and I found out that error occurred when it call recorder.start() method. What could be the problem? public class AudioRecorderActivity extends Activity { MediaRecorder recorder; File audioFile = null; private static final String TAG = "AudioRecorderActivity"; private View startButton; private View stopButton; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); startButton = findViewById(R.id.start); stopButton = findViewById(R.id.stop); setContentView(R.layout.main); } public void startRecording(View view) throws IOException{ startButton.setEnabled(false); stopButton.setEnabled(true); File sampleDir = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(); try{ audioFile = File.createTempFile("sound", ".3gp", sampleDir); }catch(IOException e){ Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "SD Card Access Error", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); Log.e(TAG, "Sdcard access error"); return; } recorder = new MediaRecorder(); recorder.setAudioSource(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC); recorder.setOutputFormat(MediaRecorder.OutputFormat.THREE_GPP); recorder.setAudioEncoder(MediaRecorder.AudioEncoder.AMR_NB); recorder.setAudioEncodingBitRate(16); recorder.setAudioSamplingRate(44100); recorder.setOutputFile(audioFile.getAbsolutePath()); recorder.prepare(); recorder.start(); } public void stopRecording(View view){ startButton.setEnabled(true); stopButton.setEnabled(false); recorder.stop(); recorder.release(); addRecordingToMediaLibrary(); } protected void addRecordingToMediaLibrary(){ ContentValues values = new ContentValues(4); long current = System.currentTimeMillis(); values.put(MediaStore.Audio.Media.TITLE, "audio" + audioFile.getName()); values.put(MediaStore.Audio.Media.DATE_ADDED, (int)(current/1000)); values.put(MediaStore.Audio.Media.MIME_TYPE, "audio/3gpp"); values.put(MediaStore.Audio.Media.DATA, audioFile.getAbsolutePath()); ContentResolver contentResolver = getContentResolver(); Uri base = MediaStore.Audio.Media.EXTERNAL_CONTENT_URI; Uri newUri = contentResolver.insert(base, values); sendBroadcast(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MEDIA_SCANNER_SCAN_FILE, newUri)); Toast.makeText(this, "Added File" + newUri, Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } } And here is the xml layout. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <Button android:id="@+id/start" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:layout_marginTop="146dp" android:onClick="startRecording" android:text="Start Recording" /> <Button android:id="@+id/stop" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignLeft="@+id/start" android:layout_below="@+id/start" android:layout_marginTop="41dp" android:enabled="false" android:onClick="stopRecording" android:text="Stop Recording" /> </RelativeLayout> And I added permission to AndroidManifest file. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="in.isuru.audiorecorder" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0" > <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="8" /> <application android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher" android:label="@string/app_name" > <activity android:name=".AudioRecorderActivity" android:label="@string/app_name" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE"/> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO" /> </manifest> I need to record high quality audio.   • jQuery Validation plugin: prompt for override

    - by Sam Carleton
    I have a jQuery form that has validation of a sort. It is a data entry screen with two 'recommend ranges', one is 36-84, the other 50-300. The business rules call for the values to be either blank or greater than zero, but to prompt for confirmation if the values are outside of the range listed above. I have seen some other threads that talk about setting the class="cancel" on the submit button. From what I can tell, this will simply disable the validation. I need to prompt for a "do you want to continue, yes or no?" and if no stop the submit, if yes, continue. Below is an example from the book Pro jQuery. By default the top row needs to be between 10 and 20 to submit. How would you change it so that it prompts you and if you say Yes it submits, no prevents the submit: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Example</title> <script src="jquery-1.7.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.tmpl.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.validate.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <style type="text/css"> h1 { min-width: 70px; border: thick double black; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; font-size: x-large; padding: .5em; color: darkgreen; background-image: url("border.png"); background-size: contain; margin-top: 0; } .dtable {display: table;} .drow {display: table-row;} .dcell {display: table-cell; padding: 10px;} .dcell > * {vertical-align: middle} input {width: 2em; text-align: right; border: thin solid black; padding: 2px;} label {width: 5em; padding-left: .5em; display: inline-block;} #buttonDiv {text-align: center;} #oblock {display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; min-width: 700px; } div.errorMsg {color: red} .invalidElem {border: medium solid red} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var data = [ { name: "Astor", product: "astor", stocklevel: "10", price: "2.99"}, { name: "Daffodil", product: "daffodil", stocklevel: "12", price: "1.99"}, { name: "Rose", product: "rose", stocklevel: "2", price: "4.99"}, { name: "Peony", product: "peony", stocklevel: "0", price: "1.50"}, { name: "Primula", product: "primula", stocklevel: "1", price: "3.12"}, { name: "Snowdrop", product: "snowdrop", stocklevel: "15", price: "0.99"}, ]; var templResult = $('#flowerTmpl').tmpl(data); templResult.slice(0, 3).appendTo('#row1'); templResult.slice(3).appendTo("#row2"); $('form').validate({ highlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).add($(element).parent()).addClass("invalidElem"); }, unhighlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).add($(element).parent()).removeClass("invalidElem"); }, errorElement: "div", errorClass: "errorMsg" }); $.validator.addClassRules({ flowerValidation: { required: true, min: 0, max: 100, digits: true, } }) $('#row1 input').each(function(index, elem) { $(elem).rules("add", { min: 10, max: 20 }) }); $('input').addClass("flowerValidation").change(function(e) { $('form').validate().element($(e.target)); }); }); </script> <script id="flowerTmpl" type="text/x-jquery-tmpl"> <div class="dcell"> <img src="${product}.png"/> <label for="${product}">${name}: </label> <input name="${product}" value="0" required /> </div> </script> </head> <body> <h1>Jacqui's Flower Shop</h1> <form method="post" action="http://node.jacquisflowershop.com/order"> <div id="oblock"> <div class="dtable"> <div id="row1" class="drow"> </div> <div id="row2"class="drow"> </div> </div> </div> <div id="buttonDiv"><button type="submit">Place Order</button></div> </form> </body> </html>

  • substrings and multiple textfields, AS3

    - by VideoDnd
    How do I get my text fields to populate correctly and show single digits? Description Each textfield receives a substring. This doesn't limit it's input, because the text fields shows extra numbers. The counters are set to 2,200,000.00, just to see if the numbers are populating. Ex A is the one I'm trying to fix. Ex A the one I want to fix //Tweening method 'could substitute code with Tweener' import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; //Timer that will run a sec and repeat var timer:Timer = new Timer(1000); //Integer values var count:int = +220000000; var fcount:int = 0; //Events and starting timer timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, incrementCounter); addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, checkOdometerPosition); timer.start(); //Tween Variables var smoothLoop:int = 0; var originalYPosition:Number = 0; var upwardYPosition:Number = -99; //Formatting String function formatCount(i:int):String { var fraction:int = i % 100; var whole:int = i / 100; return ("0000000" + whole).substr(-7, 7) + "." + (fraction < 10 ? "0" + fraction : fraction); } //First Digit function checkOdometerPosition(event:Event):void{ if (seconds9.y <= upwardYPosition){ var toText:String = formatCount(fcount); //seconds9.firstDigit.text = formatCount(fcount); seconds9.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(9, 9); seconds9.y = originalYPosition; seconds8.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(8, 8); seconds8.y = originalYPosition; seconds7dec.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(7, 7); seconds7dec.y = originalYPosition; seconds6.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(6, 6); seconds6.y = originalYPosition; seconds5.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(5, 5); seconds5.y = originalYPosition; seconds5.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(4, 4); seconds5.y = originalYPosition; seconds3.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(3, 3); seconds3.y = originalYPosition; seconds2.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(2, 2); seconds2.y = originalYPosition; seconds1.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(1, 1); seconds1.y = originalYPosition; seconds1.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(1, 1); seconds1.y = originalYPosition; seconds0.firstDigit.text = toText.substr(0, 1); seconds0.y = originalYPosition; } } //Second Digit function incrementCounter(event:TimerEvent):void{ count++; fcount=int(count) if (smoothLoop < 9){ smoothLoop++; } else { smoothLoop = 0; } var lolly:String = formatCount(fcount-1); //seconds9.secondDigit.text = formatCount(fcount); seconds9.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(9, 9); var addTween9:Tween = new Tween(seconds9, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds8.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(8, 8); var addTween8:Tween = new Tween(seconds8, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds7dec.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(7, 7); var addTween7dec:Tween = new Tween(seconds7dec, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds6.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(6, 6); var addTween6:Tween = new Tween(seconds6, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds5.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(5, 5); var addTween5:Tween = new Tween(seconds5, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds4.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(4, 4); var addTween4:Tween = new Tween(seconds4, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds3.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(3, 3); var addTween3:Tween = new Tween(seconds3, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds2.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(2, 2); var addTween2:Tween = new Tween(seconds2, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds1.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(1, 1); var addTween1:Tween = new Tween(seconds1, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); seconds0.secondDigit.text = lolly.substr(0, 1); var addTween0:Tween = new Tween(seconds0, "y", Strong.easeOut,0,-222, .7, true); } Ex A has 10 text objects, each with a pair of text fields. It’s move complex than Ex B, because it has a Y animation and pairs of numbers. The text objects are animated to create a scrolling effect. It moves vertically, and has a lead number and a catch up number contained in each symbol. See illustration for more description. Ex B work fine! for example only //STRING SPLITTER COUNTER with nine individual text fields //Timer settings var delay:uint = 1000/100; var repeat:uint = 0; var timer:Timer; timer = new Timer(delay,repeat); timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, incrementCounter); timer.start(); //Integer values var count:int = 0; var fcount:int = 0; //Format Count function formatCount(i:int):String { var fraction:int = i % 100; var whole:int = i / 100; return ("0000000" + whole).substr(-7, 7) + "." + (fraction < 10 ?   • Why doesn't JFreeCharts correctly connect the points in my xy-line graph?

    - by Javajava
    /Each letter A,T,G,C represents a direction for the plot to graph. Specifically, “A” means move right, “T” is move down, “C” is move up, and “G” is move left. When the applet reads A,T,C, it plots the graph correctly. However, when I plot G, the graph is messed up. When I input "ACACACA," the graph is like a rising staircase. • Webkit browser jQuery transformations/transitions not working with jSplitSlider

    - by user3689793
    I am helping to build a site and i'm having an issue with the functionality of an add-in called jsplitslider when running it in chrome. Right now, when I navigate between the slides, the div's get stuck on top of each other and never clear the webkit transformations/animations: <div class="sl-content-slice" style="transition: all 800ms ease-in-out; -webkit-transition: all 800ms ease-in-out;"> I think the problem is due to timing of the functions, but I can't seem to figure out where I would need to add a setTimeout(). I only think this because I exhausted a lot of the other options like display: inline-block, notransitions css, etc. I'm desperate to figure out how to make this work in chrome. It works in FF and IE(surprisingly enough). I'm not great at webcoding, so any help will be appreciated! The code on the site isn't minimized. Here is the jQuery where I think the problem lies: var cssStyle = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { marginTop : -this.size.height / 2 } : { marginLeft : -this.size.width / 2 }, // default slide's slices style resetStyle = { 'transform' : 'translate(0%,0%) rotate(0deg) scale(1)', opacity : 1 }, // slice1 style slice1Style = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { 'transform' : 'translateY(-' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice1angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice1scale + ')' } : { 'transform' : 'translateX(-' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice1angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice1scale + ')' }, // slice2 style slice2Style = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { 'transform' : 'translateY(' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice2angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice2scale + ')' } : { 'transform' : 'translateX(' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice2angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice2scale + ')' }; if( this.options.optOpacity ) { slice1Style.opacity = 0; slice2Style.opacity = 0; } // we are adding the classes sl-trans-elems and sl-trans-back-elems to the slide that is either coming "next" // or going "prev" according to the direction. // the idea is to make it more interesting by giving some animations to the respective slide's elements //( dir === 'next' ) ? $nextSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ) : $currentSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-back-elems' ); $currentSlide.removeClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ); var transitionProp = { 'transition' : 'all ' + this.options.speed + 'ms ease-in-out' }; // add the 2 slices and animate them $movingSlide.css( 'z-index', this.slidesCount ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .wrap( $( '<div class="sl-content-slice" />' ).css( transitionProp ) ) .parent() .cond( dir === 'prev', function() { var slice = this; this.css( slice1Style ); setTimeout( function() { slice.css( resetStyle ); }, 150 ); }, function() { var slice = this; setTimeout( function() { slice.css( slice1Style ); }, 150 ); } ) .clone() .appendTo( $movingSlide ) .cond( dir === 'prev', function() { var slice = this; this.css( slice2Style ); setTimeout( function() { $currentSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-back-elems' ); if( self.support ) { slice.css( resetStyle ).on( self.transEndEventName, function() { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } ); } else { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } }, 150 ); }, function() { var slice = this; setTimeout( function() { $nextSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ); if( self.support ) { slice.css( slice2Style ).on( self.transEndEventName, function() { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } ); } else { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } }, 150 ); } ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .css( cssStyle ); $nextSlide.show(); }, _validateValues : function( config ) { // OK, so we are restricting the angles and scale values here. // This is to avoid the slices wrong sides to be shown. // you can adjust these values as you wish but make sure you also ajust the // paddings of the slides and also the options.translateFactor value and scale data attrs if( config.slice1angle > this.options.maxAngle || config.slice1angle < -this.options.maxAngle ) { config.slice1angle = this.options.maxAngle; } if( config.slice2angle > this.options.maxAngle || config.slice2angle < -this.options.maxAngle ) { config.slice2angle = this.options.maxAngle; } if( config.slice1scale > this.options.maxScale || config.slice1scale <= 0 ) { config.slice1scale = this.options.maxScale; } if( config.slice2scale > this.options.maxScale || config.slice2scale <= 0 ) { config.slice2scale = this.options.maxScale; } if( config.orientation !== 'vertical' && config.orientation !== 'horizontal' ) { config.orientation = 'horizontal' } }, _onEndNavigate : function( $slice, $oldSlide, dir ) { // reset previous slide's style after next slide is shown var $slide = $slice.parent(), removeClasses = 'sl-trans-elems sl-trans-back-elems'; // remove second slide's slice $slice.remove(); // unwrap.. $slide.css( 'z-index', 10 ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .unwrap(); // hide previous current slide $oldSlide.hide().removeClass( removeClasses ); $slide.removeClass( removeClasses ); // now we can navigate again.. this.isAnimating = false; this.options.onAfterChange( $slide, this.current ); }, Sorry if I missed any conventions when posting, this is my first S.O. post. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • CSS: Centering a floated block level element in IE6 (It almost works)

    - by Louis W
    I have a block level element which I am centering on the page. I have gotten it to work for all other browsers except IE6 where it ALMOST works. http://tinyurl.com/28sh9eq If I view the page in IE6 the red box is slightly off center of the pink one in IE. If I then resize the browser window it snaps into place where I want it. Uhhhhh.... yea.... what gives? How come resizing the window makes it work? I have also tried setting an explicit width on the wrapper with no avail. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"> <html> <head> <title></title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7" /> <style type="text/css"> BODY { text-align: center; font-family: Arial; } .row_wrap { height: 100px; margin-bottom: 30px; background-color: pink; } .row { float: right; position: relative; left: -50%; text-align: left; clear: both; } .button1 { color: #FFF; height: 36px; text-decoration: none; position: relative; padding: 0 30px; background: url('button.gif') no-repeat 0 0; display: block; float: left; left: 50%; } .button1 .end { width: 20px; height: 37px; position: absolute; right: -2px; top: 0; background: url('button.gif') no-repeat right 0; } .button1 .text { font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; white-space: nowrap; height: 36px; padding-top: 7px; display: block; float: left; } .button1 .text .arrow { vertical-align: 1px; } </style> </head> <body> <h2>RTL: Button 1</h2> <div class="row_wrap"> <div class="row" dir="rtl"> <a href="#" class="button1"> <span class="end"></span> <span class="text"><span class="arrow">»</span> Hello 1.</span> </a> </div> </div> <h2>RTL: Button 1-2</h2> <div class="row_wrap" style="width: 400px;"> <div class="row" dir="rtl"> <a href="#" class="button1"> <span class="end"></span> <span class="text"><span class="arrow">»</span> Hello 1.</span> </a> </div> </div> <br/><br/> <h2>Normal: Button 1</h2> <div class="row_wrap"> <div class="row"> <a href="#" class="button1"> <span class="end"></span> <span class="text"><span class="arrow">»</span> Hello.</span> </a> </div> </div> </body> Thanks for your help.

  • How to set size for divs with different parents

    - by user340524
    I want to create a div layout which is similiar to the following table result: <html> <head> <title>Basic</title> <style> table { border: 1px solid;} </style> </head> <body> <table style="border: 1px solid;"> <tr> <td> Asia</td> <td> <table> <tr> <td>South Asia</td> </td> <td><table> <tr> <td>Republic</td> <td><table> <tr><td>Singapore</td></tr> <tr><td>India</td></tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Monarchy</td> <td><table> <tr><td>Bhutan</td></tr> <tr><td>Nepal</td></tr> </table></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td>East Asia</td> <td><table> <tr> <td>Republic</td> <td><table> <tr><td>China</td></tr> <tr><td>South Corea</td></tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Constitutional Monarchy</td> <td><table> <tr><td>something</td></tr> <tr><td>Japan</td></tr> </table></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> I managed to replicate this with some effort. The problem is that I want the names of the countries to be in a column or if you will - the containers for the government types to be the same width so other containers will align. If I don't do it in nested containers (in the example - nested tables) the rows will get displaced. Currently rows are shown exactly how I want them - the text is in the vertical middle of the what they refer to. Only thing that comes up to my mind is to set the text in the same columns as class=column1, class=column2, etc. and then somehow define the width for the column classes. Problem is the data is defined dynamically and I can't say how much pixels or % of the page I can give to a column, I just need it to stretch with the text. This is my first time I ask about help here so if I am doing it wrong, tell me how do improve my inquiry.

  • Announcing the Release of Visual Studio 2013 and Great Improvements to ASP.NET and Entity Framework

    - by ScottGu
    Today we released VS 2013 and .NET 4.5.1. These releases include a ton of great improvements, and include some fantastic enhancements to ASP.NET and the Entity Framework.  You can download and start using them now. Below are details on a few of the great ASP.NET, Web Development, and Entity Framework improvements you can take advantage of with this release.  Please visit http://www.asp.net/vnext for additional release notes, documentation, and tutorials. One ASP.NET With the release of Visual Studio 2013, we have taken a step towards unifying the experience of using the different ASP.NET sub-frameworks (Web Forms, MVC, Web API, SignalR, etc), and you can now easily mix and match the different ASP.NET technologies you want to use within a single application. When you do a File-New Project with VS 2013 you’ll now see a single ASP.NET Project option: Selecting this project will bring up an additional dialog that allows you to start with a base project template, and then optionally add/remove the technologies you want to use in it.  For example, you could start with a Web Forms template and add Web API or Web Forms support for it, or create a MVC project and also enable Web Forms pages within it: This makes it easy for you to use any ASP.NET technology you want within your apps, and take advantage of any feature across the entire ASP.NET technology span. Richer Authentication Support The new “One ASP.NET” project dialog also includes a new Change Authentication button that, when pushed, enables you to easily change the authentication approach used by your applications – and makes it much easier to build secure applications that enable SSO from a variety of identity providers.  For example, when you start with the ASP.NET Web Forms or MVC templates you can easily add any of the following authentication options to the application: No Authentication Individual User Accounts (Single Sign-On support with FaceBook, Twitter, Google, and Microsoft ID – or Forms Auth with ASP.NET Membership) Organizational Accounts (Single Sign-On support with Windows Azure Active Directory ) Windows Authentication (Active Directory in an intranet application) The Windows Azure Active Directory support is particularly cool.  Last month we updated Windows Azure Active Directory so that developers can now easily create any number of Directories using it (for free and deployed within seconds).  It now takes only a few moments to enable single-sign-on support within your ASP.NET applications against these Windows Azure Active Directories.  Simply choose the “Organizational Accounts” radio button within the Change Authentication dialog and enter the name of your Windows Azure Active Directory to do this: This will automatically configure your ASP.NET application to use Windows Azure Active Directory and register the application with it.  Now when you run the app your users can easily and securely sign-in using their Active Directory credentials within it – regardless of where the application is hosted on the Internet. For more information about the new process for creating web projects, see Creating ASP.NET Web Projects in Visual Studio 2013. Responsive Project Templates with Bootstrap The new default project templates for ASP.NET Web Forms, MVC, Web API and SPA are built using Bootstrap. Bootstrap is an open source CSS framework that helps you build responsive websites which look great on different form factors such as mobile phones, tables and desktops. For example in a browser window the home page created by the MVC template looks like the following: When you resize the browser to a narrow window to see how it would like on a phone, you can notice how the contents gracefully wrap around and the horizontal top menu turns into an icon: When you click the menu-icon above it expands into a vertical menu – which enables a good navigation experience for small screen real-estate devices: We think Bootstrap will enable developers to build web applications that work even better on phones, tablets and other mobile devices – and enable you to easily build applications that can leverage the rich ecosystem of Bootstrap CSS templates already out there.  You can learn more about Bootstrap here. Visual Studio Web Tooling Improvements Visual Studio 2013 includes a new, much richer, HTML editor for Razor files and HTML files in web applications. The new HTML editor provides a single unified schema based on HTML5. It has automatic brace completion, jQuery UI and AngularJS attribute IntelliSense, attribute IntelliSense Grouping, and other great improvements. For example, typing “ng-“ on an HTML element will show the intellisense for AngularJS: This support for AngularJS, Knockout.js, Handlebars and other SPA technologies in this release of ASP.NET and VS 2013 makes it even easier to build rich client web applications: The screen shot below demonstrates how the HTML editor can also now inspect your page at design-time to determine all of the CSS classes that are available. In this case, the auto-completion list contains classes from Bootstrap’s CSS file. No more guessing at which Bootstrap element names you need to use: Visual Studio 2013 also comes with built-in support for both CoffeeScript and LESS editing support. The LESS editor comes with all the cool features from the CSS editor and has specific Intellisense for variables and mixins across all the LESS documents in the @import chain. Browser Link – SignalR channel between browser and Visual Studio The new Browser Link feature in VS 2013 lets you run your app within multiple browsers on your dev machine, connect them to Visual Studio, and simultaneously refresh all of them just by clicking a button in the toolbar. You can connect multiple browsers (including IE, FireFox, Chrome) to your development site, including mobile emulators, and click refresh to refresh all the browsers all at the same time.  This makes it much easier to easily develop/test against multiple browsers in parallel. Browser Link also exposes an API to enable developers to write Browser Link extensions.  By enabling developers to take advantage of the Browser Link API, it becomes possible to create very advanced scenarios that crosses boundaries between Visual Studio and any browser that’s connected to it. Web Essentials takes advantage of the API to create an integrated experience between Visual Studio and the browser’s developer tools, remote controlling mobile emulators and a lot more. You will see us take advantage of this support even more to enable really cool scenarios going forward. ASP.NET Scaffolding ASP.NET Scaffolding is a new code generation framework for ASP.NET Web applications. It makes it easy to add boilerplate code to your project that interacts with a data model. In previous versions of Visual Studio, scaffolding was limited to ASP.NET MVC projects. With Visual Studio 2013, you can now use scaffolding for any ASP.NET project, including Web Forms. When using scaffolding, we ensure that all required dependencies are automatically installed for you in the project. For example, if you start with an ASP.NET Web Forms project and then use scaffolding to add a Web API Controller, the required NuGet packages and references to enable Web API are added to your project automatically.  To do this, just choose the Add->New Scaffold Item context menu: Support for scaffolding async controllers uses the new async features from Entity Framework 6. ASP.NET Identity ASP.NET Identity is a new membership system for ASP.NET applications that we are introducing with this release. ASP.NET Identity makes it easy to integrate user-specific profile data with application data. ASP.NET Identity also allows you to choose the persistence model for user profiles in your application. You can store the data in a SQL Server database or another data store, including NoSQL data stores such as Windows Azure Storage Tables. ASP.NET Identity also supports Claims-based authentication, where the user’s identity is represented as a set of claims from a trusted issuer. Users can login by creating an account on the website using username and password, or they can login using social identity providers (such as Microsoft Account, Twitter, Facebook, Google) or using organizational accounts through Windows Azure Active Directory or Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS). To learn more about how to use ASP.NET Identity visit http://www.asp.net/identity.  ASP.NET Web API 2 ASP.NET Web API 2 has a bunch of great improvements including: Attribute routing ASP.NET Web API now supports attribute routing, thanks to a contribution by Tim McCall, the author of http://attributerouting.net. With attribute routing you can specify your Web API routes by annotating your actions and controllers like this: OAuth 2.0 support The Web API and Single Page Application project templates now support authorization using OAuth 2.0. OAuth 2.0 is a framework for authorizing client access to protected resources. It works for a variety of clients including browsers and mobile devices. OData Improvements ASP.NET Web API also now provides support for OData endpoints and enables support for both ATOM and JSON-light formats. With OData you get support for rich query semantics, paging, $metadata, CRUD operations, and custom actions over any data source. Below are some of the specific enhancements in ASP.NET Web API 2 OData. Support for $select, $expand, $batch, and $value Improved extensibility Type-less support Reuse an existing model OWIN Integration ASP.NET Web API now fully supports OWIN and can be run on any OWIN capable host. With OWIN integration, you can self-host Web API in your own process alongside other OWIN middleware, such as SignalR. For more information, see Use OWIN to Self-Host ASP.NET Web API. More Web API Improvements In addition to the features above there have been a host of other features in ASP.NET Web API, including CORS support Authentication Filters Filter Overrides Improved Unit Testability Portable ASP.NET Web API Client To learn more go to http://www.asp.net/web-api/ ASP.NET SignalR 2 ASP.NET SignalR is library for ASP.NET developers that dramatically simplifies the process of adding real-time web functionality to your applications. Real-time web functionality is the ability to have server-side code push content to connected clients instantly as it becomes available. SignalR 2.0 introduces a ton of great improvements. We’ve added support for Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) to SignalR 2.0. iOS and Android support for SignalR have also been added using the MonoTouch and MonoDroid components from the Xamarin library (for more information on how to use these additions, see the article Using Xamarin Components from the SignalR wiki). We’ve also added support for the Portable .NET Client in SignalR 2.0 and created a new self-hosting package. This change makes the setup process for SignalR much more consistent between web-hosted and self-hosted SignalR applications. To learn more go to http://www.asp.net/signalr. ASP.NET MVC 5 The ASP.NET MVC project templates integrate seamlessly with the new One ASP.NET experience and enable you to integrate all of the above ASP.NET Web API, SignalR and Identity improvements. You can also customize your MVC project and configure authentication using the One ASP.NET project creation wizard. The MVC templates have also been updated to use ASP.NET Identity and Bootstrap as well. An introductory tutorial to ASP.NET MVC 5 can be found at Getting Started with ASP.NET MVC 5. This release of ASP.NET MVC also supports several nice new MVC-specific features including: Authentication filters: These filters allow you to specify authentication logic per-action, per-controller or globally for all controllers. Attribute Routing: Attribute Routing allows you to define your routes on actions or controllers. To learn more go to http://www.asp.net/mvc Entity Framework 6 Improvements Visual Studio 2013 ships with Entity Framework 6, which bring a lot of great new features to the data access space: Async and Task<T> Support EF6’s new Async Query and Save support enables you to perform asynchronous data access and take advantage of the Task<T> support introduced in .NET 4.5 within data access scenarios.  This allows you to free up threads that might otherwise by blocked on data access requests, and enable them to be used to process other requests whilst you wait for the database engine to process operations. When the database server responds the thread will be re-queued within your ASP.NET application and execution will continue.  This enables you to easily write significantly more scalable server code. Here is an example ASP.NET WebAPI action that makes use of the new EF6 async query methods: Interception and Logging Interception and SQL logging allows you to view – or even change – every command that is sent to the database by Entity Framework. This includes a simple, human readable log – which is great for debugging – as well as some lower level building blocks that give you access to the command and results. Here is an example of wiring up the simple log to Debug in the constructor of an MVC controller: Custom Code-First Conventions The new Custom Code-First Conventions enable bulk configuration of a Code First model – reducing the amount of code you need to write and maintain. Conventions are great when your domain classes don’t match the Code First conventions. For example, the following convention configures all properties that are called ‘Key’ to be the primary key of the entity they belong to. This is different than the default Code First convention that expects Id or <type name>Id. Connection Resiliency The new Connection Resiliency feature in EF6 enables you to register an execution strategy to handle – and potentially retry – failed database operations. This is especially useful when deploying to cloud environments where dropped connections become more common as you traverse load balancers and distributed networks. EF6 includes a built-in execution strategy for SQL Azure that knows about retryable exception types and has some sensible – but overridable – defaults for the number of retries and time between retries when errors occur. Registering it is simple using the new Code-Based Configuration support: These are just some of the new features in EF6. You can visit the release notes section of the Entity Framework site for a complete list of new features. Microsoft OWIN Components Open Web Interface for .NET (OWIN) defines an open abstraction between .NET web servers and web applications, and the ASP.NET “Katana” project brings this abstraction to ASP.NET. OWIN decouples the web application from the server, making web applications host-agnostic. For example, you can host an OWIN-based web application in IIS or self-host it in a custom process. For more information about OWIN and Katana, see What's new in OWIN and Katana. Summary Today’s Visual Studio 2013, ASP.NET and Entity Framework release delivers some fantastic new features that streamline your web development lifecycle. These feature span from server framework to data access to tooling to client-side HTML development.  They also integrate some great open-source technology and contributions from our developer community. • Metro: Introduction to CSS 3 Grid Layout

    - by Stephen.Walther
    The purpose of this blog post is to provide you with a quick introduction to the new W3C CSS 3 Grid Layout standard. You can use CSS Grid Layout in Metro style applications written with JavaScript to lay out the content of an HTML page. CSS Grid Layout provides you with all of the benefits of using HTML tables for layout without requiring you to actually use any HTML table elements. Doing Page Layouts without Tables Back in the 1990’s, if you wanted to create a fancy website, then you would use HTML tables for layout. For example, if you wanted to create a standard three-column page layout then you would create an HTML table with three columns like this: <table height="100%"> <tr> <td valign="top" width="300px" bgcolor="red"> Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column </td> <td valign="top" bgcolor="green"> Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column </td> <td valign="top" width="300px" bgcolor="blue"> Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column </td> </tr> </table> When the table above gets rendered out to a browser, you end up with the following three-column layout: The width of the left and right columns is fixed – the width of the middle column expands or contracts depending on the width of the browser. Sometime around the year 2005, everyone decided that using tables for layout was a bad idea. Instead of using tables for layout — it was collectively decided by the spirit of the Web — you should use Cascading Style Sheets instead. Why is using HTML tables for layout bad? Using tables for layout breaks the semantics of the TABLE element. A TABLE element should be used only for displaying tabular information such as train schedules or moon phases. Using tables for layout is bad for accessibility (The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 is explicit about this) and using tables for layout is bad for separating content from layout (see http://CSSZenGarden.com). Post 2005, anyone who used HTML tables for layout were encouraged to hold their heads down in shame. That’s all well and good, but the problem with using CSS for layout is that it can be more difficult to work with CSS than HTML tables. For example, to achieve a standard three-column layout, you either need to use absolute positioning or floats. Here’s a three-column layout with floats: <style type="text/css"> #container { min-width: 800px; } #leftColumn { float: left; width: 300px; height: 100%; background-color:red; } #middleColumn { background-color:green; height: 100%; } #rightColumn { float: right; width: 300px; height: 100%; background-color:blue; } </style> <div id="container"> <div id="rightColumn"> Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column </div> <div id="leftColumn"> Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column </div> <div id="middleColumn"> Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column </div> </div> The page above contains four DIV elements: a container DIV which contains a leftColumn, middleColumn, and rightColumn DIV. The leftColumn DIV element is floated to the left and the rightColumn DIV element is floated to the right. Notice that the rightColumn DIV appears in the page before the middleColumn DIV – this unintuitive ordering is necessary to get the floats to work correctly (see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/533607/css-three-column-layout-problem). The page above (almost) works with the most recent versions of most browsers. For example, you get the correct three-column layout in both Firefox and Chrome: And the layout mostly works with Internet Explorer 9 except for the fact that for some strange reason the min-width doesn’t work so when you shrink the width of your browser, you can get the following unwanted layout: Notice how the middle column (the green column) bleeds to the left and right. People have solved these issues with more complicated CSS. For example, see: http://matthewjamestaylor.com/blog/holy-grail-no-quirks-mode.htm But, at this point, no one could argue that using CSS is easier or more intuitive than tables. It takes work to get a layout with CSS and we know that we could achieve the same layout more easily using HTML tables. Using CSS Grid Layout CSS Grid Layout is a new W3C standard which provides you with all of the benefits of using HTML tables for layout without the disadvantage of using an HTML TABLE element. In other words, CSS Grid Layout enables you to perform table layouts using pure Cascading Style Sheets. The CSS Grid Layout standard is still in a “Working Draft” state (it is not finalized) and it is located here: http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-grid-layout/ The CSS Grid Layout standard is only supported by Internet Explorer 10 and there are no signs that any browser other than Internet Explorer will support this standard in the near future. This means that it is only practical to take advantage of CSS Grid Layout when building Metro style applications with JavaScript. Here’s how you can create a standard three-column layout using a CSS Grid Layout: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> html, body, #container { height: 100%; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; } #container { display: -ms-grid; -ms-grid-columns: 300px auto 300px; -ms-grid-rows: 100%; } #leftColumn { -ms-grid-column: 1; background-color:red; } #middleColumn { -ms-grid-column: 2; background-color:green; } #rightColumn { -ms-grid-column: 3; background-color:blue; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="leftColumn"> Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column </div> <div id="middleColumn"> Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column </div> <div id="rightColumn"> Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column </div> </div> </body> </html> When the page above is rendered in Internet Explorer 10, you get a standard three-column layout: The page above contains four DIV elements: a container DIV which contains a leftColumn DIV, middleColumn DIV, and rightColumn DIV. The container DIV is set to Grid display mode with the following CSS rule: #container { display: -ms-grid; -ms-grid-columns: 300px auto 300px; -ms-grid-rows: 100%; } The display property is set to the value “-ms-grid”. This property causes the container DIV to lay out its child elements in a grid. (Notice that you use “-ms-grid” instead of “grid”. The “-ms-“ prefix is used because the CSS Grid Layout standard is still preliminary. This implementation only works with IE10 and it might change before the final release.) The grid columns and rows are defined with the “-ms-grid-columns” and “-ms-grid-rows” properties. The style rule above creates a grid with three columns and one row. The left and right columns are fixed sized at 300 pixels. The middle column sizes automatically depending on the remaining space available. The leftColumn, middleColumn, and rightColumn DIVs are positioned within the container grid element with the following CSS rules: #leftColumn { -ms-grid-column: 1; background-color:red; } #middleColumn { -ms-grid-column: 2; background-color:green; } #rightColumn { -ms-grid-column: 3; background-color:blue; } The “-ms-grid-column” property is used to specify the column associated with the element selected by the style sheet selector. The leftColumn DIV is positioned in the first grid column, the middleColumn DIV is positioned in the second grid column, and the rightColumn DIV is positioned in the third grid column. I find using CSS Grid Layout to be just as intuitive as using an HTML table for layout. You define your columns and rows and then you position different elements within these columns and rows. Very straightforward. Creating Multiple Columns and Rows In the previous section, we created a super simple three-column layout. This layout contained only a single row. In this section, let’s create a slightly more complicated layout which contains more than one row: The following page contains a header row, a content row, and a footer row. The content row contains three columns: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> html, body, #container { height: 100%; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; } #container { display: -ms-grid; -ms-grid-columns: 300px auto 300px; -ms-grid-rows: 100px 1fr 100px; } #header { -ms-grid-column: 1; -ms-grid-column-span: 3; -ms-grid-row: 1; background-color: yellow; } #leftColumn { -ms-grid-column: 1; -ms-grid-row: 2; background-color:red; } #middleColumn { -ms-grid-column: 2; -ms-grid-row: 2; background-color:green; } #rightColumn { -ms-grid-column: 3; -ms-grid-row: 2; background-color:blue; } #footer { -ms-grid-column: 1; -ms-grid-column-span: 3; -ms-grid-row: 3; background-color: orange; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="header"> Header, Header, Header </div> <div id="leftColumn"> Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column, Left Column </div> <div id="middleColumn"> Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column, Middle Column </div> <div id="rightColumn"> Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column, Right Column </div> <div id="footer"> Footer, Footer, Footer </div> </div> </body> </html> In the page above, the grid layout is created with the following rule which creates a grid with three rows and three columns: #container { display: -ms-grid; -ms-grid-columns: 300px auto 300px; -ms-grid-rows: 100px 1fr 100px; } The header is created with the following rule: #header { -ms-grid-column: 1; -ms-grid-column-span: 3; -ms-grid-row: 1; background-color: yellow; } The header is positioned in column 1 and row 1. Furthermore, notice that the “-ms-grid-column-span” property is used to span the header across three columns. CSS Grid Layout and Fractional Units When you use CSS Grid Layout, you can take advantage of fractional units. Fractional units provide you with an easy way of dividing up remaining space in a page. Imagine, for example, that you want to create a three-column page layout. You want the size of the first column to be fixed at 200 pixels and you want to divide the remaining space among the remaining three columns. The width of the second column is equal to the combined width of the third and fourth columns. The following CSS rule creates four columns with the desired widths: #container { display: -ms-grid; -ms-grid-columns: 200px 2fr 1fr 1fr; -ms-grid-rows: 1fr; } The fr unit represents a fraction. The grid above contains four columns. The second column is two times the size (2fr) of the third (1fr) and fourth (1fr) columns. When you use the fractional unit, the remaining space is divided up using fractional amounts. Notice that the single row is set to a height of 1fr. The single grid row gobbles up the entire vertical space. Here’s the entire HTML page: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> html, body, #container { height: 100%; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; } #container { display: -ms-grid; -ms-grid-columns: 200px 2fr 1fr 1fr; -ms-grid-rows: 1fr; } #firstColumn { -ms-grid-column: 1; background-color:red; } #secondColumn { -ms-grid-column: 2; background-color:green; } #thirdColumn { -ms-grid-column: 3; background-color:blue; } #fourthColumn { -ms-grid-column: 4; background-color:orange; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="firstColumn"> First Column, First Column, First Column </div> <div id="secondColumn"> Second Column, Second Column, Second Column </div> <div id="thirdColumn"> Third Column, Third Column, Third Column </div> <div id="fourthColumn"> Fourth Column, Fourth Column, Fourth Column </div> </div> </body> </html>   Summary There is more in the CSS 3 Grid Layout standard than discussed in this blog post. My goal was to describe the basics. If you want to learn more than you can read through the entire standard at http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-grid-layout/ In this blog post, I described some of the difficulties that you might encounter when attempting to replace HTML tables with Cascading Style Sheets when laying out a web page. I explained how you can take advantage of the CSS 3 Grid Layout standard to avoid these problems when building Metro style applications using JavaScript. CSS 3 Grid Layout provides you with all of the benefits of using HTML tables for laying out a page without requiring you to use HTML table elements.

  • SQL Developer Q&A from ODTUG Tips & Tricks Webcast

    - by thatjeffsmith
    Another great webcast yesterday – if you’re a paying member of ODTUG you can watch the show for yourself in their archives. If not, you can get my slide deck off of SlideShare. About 150 of you brave souls sat through an entire hour of me talking and then 10 more minutes of Q&A. We went through everything rapid-fire style, so I thought I would post the questions and my refined answers here for your perusal. In the order in which I received them: You showed the preference to choose between resultsets in same tab or ain a new tab. I understand that we can not have it both using different hotkeys? For example: F5 run and resultset to same tab, ctrl-f5 same but to new tab? Sometimes you want the one other times the other. The questioner is asking about this preference, Tools Preferences Database Worksheet ‘Show query results in new tabs.’ This is an all or nothing proposition. But, there’s another, perhaps better way: the document PINs. If you have a result set you don’t want to lose, ‘pin it.’ Pin multiple result sets or plans for review and comparisons. You mentioned that sometimes it’s hard to remember where a certain preference is. I agree. So enhancement request: add a search-box to the preferences window. Maybe like in, for example, UltraEdit. It shows you all preferences containing your search criteria. Actually, we do have a search mechanism type the search string, we auto-filter the preferences Is there a version of SQL Developer that will connect to an 8i database (Yes, I realize how old that database version is!) Sorry, no. We also don’t have a version that will run on Windows 3.11 for Workgroups…probably. How do we access your blog? Carefully, and with much trepidation. When you’re ready, go to http://www.thatjeffsmith.com Is there a way to get good formatting with predefined settings? I believe the questioner is referring to the script output a la SQL*Plus formatting commands. Yes, there is. You can build your formatting commands into your login.sql script, and those will be applied for your script execution sessions. Example here. Why this version 4.0 doesn’t support external plugins? It does, it just requires the plugin developer to re-factor it for OSGi. This came about when we updated the JDeveloper framework to the later 11g/12c stuff. Any change in hookup with SVN? The only change with Subversion is that internally we’re using 1.7 stuff now. You can use SQLDev to work with a 1.8 SVN server, but if you get a working copy with a 1.8 client SQLDev won’t be able to do anything with it… Command line utilities ? improvements Yes! The long answer is here. Is that a Hint or a Comment?? /*CSV*/ It’s a comment – the database won’t recognize it, but SQLDev does when it goes through our statement pre-processor. We’ll redirect the output through our CSV formatter before displaying the results in the Script Output panel. That’s why this will ONLY work in SQL Developer. Are you selecting “”Run Script”" to get that CSV or HTML output, rather than “”Run Statement”"? Yes, the formatter hints like the CSV one mentioned above only make sense in a script output panel vs a grid. How do you save relational models once they’re defined? I’ve had trouble with setting one up, “”saving”" it, then the design work I did is longer there when loading it later. File – Data Modeler – Save. If you’re running the Modeler inside of SQL Developer, the menu’ing interface can get a bit tricky. That’s why I recommend using the stand along if you’re doing anything with a model that takes more than 5 minutes. See how the Data Modeler menus are folded up under the SQL Dev menus? Can u unplug and plug into another container in a database with only sqldeveloper? Yes, you can ‘Detach’ a multitentant 12c Database ‘pluggable’ and plug it into another instance. You have the option to copy or move the files. This isn’t a trivial operation, pay attention Can you run APEX code directly on the adopter? No, at least not as I understand your question. Give me an example and I can give you a better example. Is there a way that when u click on a particular table it wouldn’t show the table with the info but just to see the columns underneath clicking on the node? Yes, another one of my tips! Disable Tools Preferences Datbase ObjectViewer ‘Open Object on Single Click.’ Is there a patch to allow a double click on a procedure on an open package body to take you to that procedure in the editor? This has been fixed for EA3 – to be released soon. Can you open the spec with the body? You can open the spec or the body, and then also open the other. But you can’t open both with a single click. So if you want you can set it to CSV but can you also see it as a regular result set in rows and then click in the results to export to excel? If you run your query as a statement with Ctrl-Enter, you can send the data to Excel via the Export dialog. Will it do intellisense like using the alias and pop up the column, object names? Yes! You can select more than one column… Can a DBA turn off items from a high level for users so the only thing they can perform would be selects? A DBA should turn things ON, not OFF. Create a user with only CONNECT and required SELECT privs and you’re good to go, regardless of which application they are using. I use PL/SQL Developer from allround automations and was SQL Developer illiterate and now I like this for myself as a DBA. Now I get to train developers on this tool since they have been asking how to use this tool. Thank you. No, THANK YOU! Can you run multi queries in the worksheet after you added it to the worksheet? Yes, highlight what you want to run, and hit Ctrl-Enter. Can you export the result sets to excel, etc. Yes. In version 4.0 and going forward, I recommend you use the XLSX option for exports. It will run faster and consume much, much less memory. Will this be available after the webinar? If you are a ODTUG member, check out the webinar recordings in the archives. That’s worth the $99 right there. Ask your boss if they have $99 in their training budget for you. If not, maybe time to look for another job? Can you run command lines from this tool? Like executes without issuing a command line prompt? Ok, I’m stumped on this one. Not sure what you’re asking. You can setup external tools under the Tools menu, and from there you could probably rig what you’re looking for, but I’m not sure what you’re looking for… This maybe?Where and when to put the program Is there any way to save a copy database command set (certain tables/views etc) in a script? Yes! Create a cart with the objects you want to be used in the Copy. Then use the new command-line interface to kick off SQL Developer to do the copy of those said objects. How can we export the preference and then import them into different or same version of SQL Developer ? Today, there’s no interface for this. But you could copy the files around manually…Kris Rice has a cool idea where you can set your preferences to be saved to your local drop box folder and then you can use SQL Developer from anywhere with the same preferences What happens to SQL*Plus commands like COL & BREAK Nothing. Those are not currently supported. Is there a place where all “”hotkey”" functionality is listed? thanks Yes. Tools – Preferences – Shortcut Keys. And you can change them! Any tips for the DBA side of things? will the SQL generated for objects have more information (e.g. user privileges) in v4? You can get this now. In Tools – Preferences – Database – Utilities – Export, check ‘Grants.’ Voila! You now have the code necessary to recreate your object privileges Is there a limit on the number of rows that could be imported / exported from/to excel ? The only hard-coded limit lies in Excel. For best performance, use v4 and XLSX formats for Exports. Is there a way to see/watch active sessions to see current SQL and the explain plan being used, etc. Kind of like that frog product. Cough, yes. Tools – Monitor Sessions. Click on session, see SQL and plan. The plan was added in v4. If you’re not in version 4, use the Reports – Active Sessions to get the plans. In the DBA section is there a way to manage say tablespaces to add data files, shrink, edit profiles, etc. Yes, we support all of that. View – DBA. Connect, go to the Storage node. Are you (Jeff) available for a live presentation at our Oracle User Group here in Indiana? Maybe. Email me and we’ll see, [email protected] Where do I go to download sql developer 4.0? The Internet of course! Can you directly edit query results? Nope. But what I think you’re asking is, can I edit the data in the tables that are reflected in my query results? You can change the query results by changing your query of course. Or this. Can you show html example? Sure. I’d embed the HTML here, but it’s a lot of code, try it for yourself! How can I quickly close many SQL worksheet windows, but not all? Window – Documents. Multi-select, hit the ‘Close Document(s)’ button. What does the vertical red line denote? That’s the margin. Tells you when you’ve typed too far and it’s time for a carriage return. Did DBA/Database Status/Instance Viewer make it officially into 4.0? It was sort-of included in the first EA. I have NO idea what you’re talking about, WINK-WINK. No, it’s not in v4.0. Is there a “”handy”" way to debug trigger code? Yes, open your trigger. Hit the debug button. Works great as long as it’s a DML trigger. Will you make your presentation file available for us ( in PPT and/or PDF format ) ? It’s on SlideShare. How do you get SqlDeveloper to escape ‘ correctly when you use the wizard to export data as insert statements? If it’s not doing that, it’s a bug. I’ll take a look at that scenario ASAP.
