I'm a n00b - trying to get apache2 set up on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) on Rackspace Cloud. I have set up/configured OpenSSL and installed Apache, but Apache won't start. I assume its a misconfiguration in my /etc/apache2/sites-available/ssl or /etc/apache2/sites-available/default files) When I try to restart apache using the command: sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart I get the following error message: [error] (EAI 2)Name or service not known: Could not resolve host name *.80 -- ignoring! I am using DBAN to erase HDD. DBAN is loaded from a CD and BIOS Boot order has been set to favour CD drive. On starting laptop, system boots from CD and DBAN interface can be seen. DBAN detects two storage devices, HDD and the SD Card. My HDD IS 320GB but DBAN says 298GB. It erases the SD card but when i try to erase HDD, it gives following error. IBM doesn’t like MS. That’s a fact. And that’s why you can get your machine.config file (!!!) corrupted if you try to install IBM DB2 data providers on your server machine. If at some point, after having installed IBM DB2 data providers your SSIS packages or SSAS cubes or SSRS Reports starts to complain that 'DbProviderFactories' section can only appear once per config you may want to check into you machine.config, located in the %runtime install path%\Config http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms229697%28v=vs.71%29.aspx Almost surely you’ll find a IBM DB2 Provider into an additional DbProviderFactories section all alone. Poor guy. Remove the double DBProviderFactories entry, and merge everything inside only one section DBProviderFactories and after that everything will start to work again.

Cisco VPN disconnects after 5 seconds with error 422

I'm trying to connect to my university's server with VPN using Cisco VPN Client version 5.0.04, but after 5 seconds it disconnects with the error message 422: Lost contact with the secure gateway. Check your connection. From my research on the net it seems this could be because it tries to find my IP, and finds out that this is 127.0.0.1. Then 5 seconds later it discovers that I have a new IP (my actual IP), and it disconnects because I'm not allowed to change IP. Does anyone know how I could fix this, or if there is another reason i get this error? Update I looked through the log, and found this error, which confirms what I thought, except it gets the correct IP first, then changes it to localhost. 87 18:56:53.250 08/24/09 Sev=Warning/3 CM/0xA3100027 Adapter address changed from 149.171.237.25. Camera Projection back Into 3D world, offset error

I'm using XNA to simulate a robot in a 3D world and then do image analysis on what the camera sees. I have my camera looking down in front of the direction that the robot is going, and I have the robot detecting white pixels. I'm trying to take the white pixels that it finds and project them back into the 3D world so that I can see if it is actually detecting the correct pixels. So, I am trying to install Arch Linux on my Acer Aspire 4830tg, but I keep running into problems. Some background knowledge, I am trying to install Arch off a usb stick and I got the iso image using bittorrent. I am also trying to install it alongside of Windows 8 (which is already installed). So when I boot into Arch linux I get this error: :: Mounting '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212' to 'run/archiso/bootmnt' Waiting 30 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212 ... ERROR: '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212' device did not show up after 30 seconds... Falling back to interactive prompt You can try to fix the problem manually, log out when you are finished sh: can't access tty; job control turned off I know that it will work if I run it on a virtual machine but whenever I try to install it on my laptop I keep getting this error. And since you can't register for the Arch forums without a Arch terminal to run their captcha command I can't ask this on their forums.

Partial upgrade error

this is an issue I have googled a lot and I have tried a lot of fixes, but non of them really worked. At some point (I can't remember when/how) my Update system sort of broke, and since then it is always complaining about "Not all updates can be installed, run a Partial Upgrade". If I click on Partial Upgrade, I get the following result But running apt-get install -f does not fix anything, and at the end I always get the following message Funny thing is that my apt-get system works perfect on Console. I can update my system through apt-get update, apt-get upgrade etc.. So.. how can I fix the graphic interface? I understand that my apt-get system is not broken, but somehow its GUI it is. Note the 1st discussion is for a Western Digital drive, which seem to have a solution with the WD Quick Formatter tool. But I downloaded that software and it cannot detect my Seagate drive. Error trying to run a python program

Hello guys I'm actually new to Terminal and Python. Just started following a Python tuturial on my Ubuntu and I've reached a part where it asks me to save a .py file and open it in Terminal. Only when I try to type on Terminal $ python egotrip.py I get $: command not found Then I try to type it in python and I get File "", line 1 python egotrip.py ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax But I mean all names are correct :( Then I gave also tried /home/anacah/Desktop/python/egotrip.py And I get Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in NameError: name 'home' is not defined What am I doing wrong? :( can someone please help?

DNS error only in IE

Our Intranet page has stopped working on some machines/some user accounts. The error I am getting points to a DNS issue but If I ping the site from the command line the it responds fine. The error I'm gettting on IE is Error: The web filter could not find the address for the requested site Why are you seeing this: The system is unable too determine the IP address of intranet.example.com I'm not quite sure why it mentions the web filter as there is a proxy exception for the intranet page and if I run a trace route it doesn't go via the web proxy (filtering system). Finally it isn't affecting everyone, just random users, also it doesn't affect the random users on all the client machines they use. I have one user where it happens on any client they log onto where most its just certian clients. It's even "fixed" itself for a few peoples. EDIT: hey Mikey thanks for the fast response. Proxies are correct and automatic configuration is off (both via GPO)

VMWare Server 2 install question here.* Straightforward question that would probably require a VMWare expert to pull apart, given that Google has been totally worthless on this. On a patched Windows XP machine, any attempt to install VMWare Server 2.0.1 results in failure, just prior to completion (progress bar is full but I can tell network adapter stuff hasn't been fired yet and most of the services haven't been instaled). The error: Error 25032. Failed to customize Windows logon process (). Please contact your administrator. Upon dismissing the error, you're treated to: Warning 25033. Failed to remove Windows logon customization (VMGINA.DLL). Please contact your administrator. Clicking "OK" rolls back your installation. Killing the installer and hoping that it somehow leaves a working install behind was also unproductive. *I hope install troubleshooting isn't outside the purview of serverfault, I'm typically an SO user.

"VLC could not read the file" error when trying to play DVDs

I can watch most DVD's on my machine using VLC but today, I went to watch Thor, and it won't play. libdvdread4 and libdvdcss2 are at the latest versions. vlc -v returns 1.1.4 w32codecs are installed and reinstalled ubuntu-restricted-extras are same as above My machine recognises the disc and I can open the folder and browse the assorted .vob files, of which there are many. I even cleaned it with Christian Dior aftershave to make sure.

Gnome-Screenshot error in Ubuntu GNOME 13.10

I recently installed Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 (it came with GNOME 3.8, but I replaced by GNOME 3.10) and after a few problems, the only one I couldn't solve was the screenshot problem. When I press the PrtSc key, nothing happens. No sound, no nothing. When I execute it via Terminal by writing "Gnome-Screenshot", it does work and saves in my Pictures folder. I have already tried to re-install the program, but still didn't work. I also tried to create a shortcut with this command line, but still nothing happend. I tried to replace the PrtSc key by another one, just for make sure the problem wasn't in the key, and it still failed. Can anyone help me?

ubuntu 11.10 foreman error

Like this post I am also trying to complete this heroku tutorial I have installed and used everything (node.js, npm, express) successfully until I got to Foreman.
