• Building Cocoa UIs for OS X with C# and Mono

  Has anyone spent any time comparing the various Objective C bridges and associated Cocoa wrappers for Mono? I want to port an existing C# application to run on OS X. Ideally I'd run the application on Mono, and build a native Cocoa UI for it. I'm wondering which bridge would be the best choice. • Can't reach the new zend controller/view

  Hi, I've installed Zend Studio 7.1.1 that contains 1.9 framework. For the server side, I use easyphp (very similar to wamp) When I create the project, I obviously obtain this architecture: MyProject |-- application | |-- Bootstrap.php | |-- configs | | `-- application.ini | |-- controllers | | |-- ErrorController.php | | `-- IndexController.php | |-- models | `-- views | |-- helpers | `-- scripts | |-- error | | `-- error.phtml | `-- index | `-- index.phtml |-- library |-- public | |-- .htaccess | `-- index.php `-- tests |-- application | `-- bootstrap.php |-- library | `-- bootstrap.php `-- phpunit.xml To launch the project, I enter: http://127.0.0.1/MonProjet/public/index.php But when I create a new controller (TestController.php) and the associated view (application.views/test/index.phtml) and when I enter: http://127.0.0.1/MonProjet/public/test the browser returns the error : object not found (404). although I activated the mod_rewrite LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so So, how can I set the routing mechanism to reach the new controllers and their views?   I have three data models, Users, Conversations and Lines, where each conversation has many lines and certain participating users, each line has one conversation and one user and each user has many conversations and many lines. I have arranged these in ActiveRecord like this: class Line < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :conversation belongs_to :user end class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :conversations has_many :lines end class Conversation < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :lines has_and_belongs_to_many :users end If I want to create a new conversation with 4 users, where the users are either found or created inside the users table, how would I go about doing this? I thought I could do: c = Conversation.new c.users.find_or_create_by_username('myUsername') c.save But this will create a new username in the Users table even if that username already exists! (ie. running the above code 3 times will result in Users having 3 rows with 'myUsername' as the username, one for each conversation, rather than three conversations all with the same 'myUsername' entry listed in their associated users) I'm not sure how to search for this kind of information with google - can anyone help?

• What is the most efficient way to find missing semicolons in VS with C++?

  What are the best strategies for finding that missing semicolon that's causing the error? Are there automated tools that might help. I'm currently using Visual Studio 2008, but general strategies for any environment would be interesting and more broadly useful. Background: Presently I have a particularly elusive missing semicolon (or brace) in a C++ program that is causing a C2143 error. My header file dependencies are fairly straightforward, but still I can't seem to find the problem. Rather than post my code and play Where's Wally (or Waldo, depending on where you're from) I thought it would be more useful to get some good strategies that can be applied in this and similar situations. As a side-question: the C2143 error is showing up in the first line of the first method declaration (i.e. the method's return type) in a .cpp file that includes only its associated .h file. Would anything other than semicolons or braces lead to this behaviour?

• Modifying association arrays on cloned ActiveRecord objects

  I have an ActiveRecord model class Foo that has_many Bar. I want to clone a Foo (to get duplicates of most of its attributes) and then modify its Bar instances. This is a problem because cloned ActiveRecord instances share the same associated array; changes to one affect the other. f1 = Foo.new b = Bar.new f1.bars << b f2 = f1.clone f2.bars.includes? b # true f1.bars.clear f2.bars.includes? b # now false The real problem is that I can't detach the bars arrays from either Foo: f1.bars << b f2.bars.includes? b # true f2.bars = [] f2.bars.includes? b # now false f1.bars.includes? b # now also false If I could do that, then I could replace the Bars as I wanted to. However, any change to one Foo seems to affect the other.

  Hello, I have two tables that relates 1:n content --------- - id - title - text content_meta ------------- - id - content_id - meta_key - meta_value A content can have multiple content_meta registers associated to it. Typically content_meta will contain the category, tags, descriptions and all that stuff, so I really don't know the number of registers a content will have. What I want to accomplish is to take the content register and also all the related registers in content_meta in a single query. I've tried the subselect approachment but seems that I can only get one register/column (¿?) SELECT content.*, ( SELECT * FROM content_meta WHERE content_id = content.id ) FROM content This query complains that "Operand should contain 1 column(s)", so changing the '*' by for example meta_key clears the error, but returns a NULL for this subselect... SELECT content.*, ( SELECT meta_key FROM content_meta WHERE content_id = content.id ) FROM content Can anybody show me where to go from here please?

• Document Based Application, preinitialize window (enter serial, buy, trial)

  I need to create several windows before NSDocument is loaded, or create a window that blocks NSDocument window and top menu. I tried several solutions - but they didn't work right. modal window, one after another. there were some problems with Async URLConnection, and some other problems with my NSDocument content. I created custom MainMenu.xib with no menu, that opens my preinitialize windows. here i found some other problems, when a file(associated with my application) is opened - the Document Window initializes. Here i tried to subclass NSDocumentController, but i found no way to pause the "open document". (i want the document to be opened anyway, but only after the preinitalize windows would be closed). So what is the right way to do this?

• linq to sql using foreign keys returning iqueryable(of myEntity]

  I'm trying to use Linq to SQL to return an IQueryable(of Project) when using foreign key relationships. Using the below schema, I want to be able to pass in a UserId and get all the projects created for the company the user is associated with. DB tables: Projects Projid ProjCreator FK (UserId from UserInfo table) Companyid FK (CompanyID from Companies table) UserInfo UserID PK Companyid FK Companies CompanyId PK Description I can get the iqueryable(of project) when simply getting the ProjectCreator with this: Return (From p In db.Projects _ Where p.ProjectCreator = Me.UserId) But I'm having trouble getting the syntax to get a iqueryable(of projects) when using foreign keys. Below gives me an IQueryable(of anonymous) but I can't seem to convince it to give me an IQueryable(of project) even if I try to cast it: Dim retval = (From p In db.Projects _ Join c In db.Companies On p.CompanyId Equals c.CompanyId _ Join u In db.UserInfos On u.CompanyId Equals c.CompanyId _ Where u.Login = UserId)

• Reporting Services - can't group by a column called "LanguageId"

  Folks, I have a really odd behavior here: I have a SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services report which gets grouped and sorted dynamically. One of the column in my data set which I display is called LanguageId and I was trying to get a grouping going by this LanguageId field. I checked, double-checked and triple-checked the data being returned - it does contain my expected values for LanguageId and everything seems fine and dandy. It just never worked - I didn't get the expected groups, I got things like a specific node actually changing its display value from one ID to another when expanding its subitems, and other really whacky stuff. I discovered that grouping and sorting by LanguageCaption works just fine. It also started working fine after I renamed LanguageId to MyLanguageId. So where on earth is this documented that LanguageId appears to be a system variable / reserved word / keyword of some sort in SQL Server Reporting Services that must be avoided at all costs?? I can't seem to find anything on that topic - even Mr. Google and Mrs. Bing came up empty so far....

• Flex 4.6 Mobile - Scrolling to the last added item in a dataGrid with variableRowHeight

  I'm trying to set the scroll vertical position of a spark dataGrid to show the items as I add them to the grid. I know you can set the scroll position like this: dataGrid.scroller.viewport.verticalScrollPosition = itemPosition*rowHeight; The problem is that the dataGrid have variableRowHeight, as each row word wraps their name labels, and I don't know how to get each row height. I though of getting the itemRenderer associated with every item as I add it to the grid, and keep the total row height value in a variable, but don't know how to achieve that. Is there any way to set the scroll position of a dataGrid with variableRowHeight to show the last added item?

  In my project I have a class, NewsItem. Instances of NewsItem act like a wrapper. They can be associated with either an ArtWork instance, or an Announcement instance. • Stata output files in surveys

  I have some survey data which I'm using Stata to analyze. I want to compute means of one variable by group and save those means to a Stata file. My code looks like this: svyset [iw=wtsupp], sdrweight(repwtp1-repwtp160) vce(sdr) svy: mean x I tried svy: by grp: mean x but that did not work. I could save each mean to a separate file by simply saying svy: mean x if grp==1 but that's inefficient. Is there a better way? Saving results to a file like one can use SAS ODS to capture results is also a need. I am not talking about the log here. I need the means and the associated group. I'm thinking estimates save [path],replace but I'm not sure if that will give me a Stata file or the group if I can figure out how to use by processing.

• TFS query mixing Tasks and Bugs, sorted by Priority

  We're using TFS with MSF for Agile 4.2 on a project, and I have a bunch of work to do, both Tasks and Bugs. Both are prioritized by our managers, and assigned due dates and target releases. I use a Work Item query as my main TODO list, and I want to list all the Work Items assigned to me, in order by due date and priority. Problem: I can't seem to find a way to write a unified query that will list both Tasks and Bugs sorted by date and then priority. The problem is that Tasks and Bugs use different fields for Priority. So, my query currently lists the tasks by Due Date, then by Task Priority, then it lists Bugs by Due Date, then by Priority. So, I see tasks that are due later than bugs: Title Due Date Priority Task Priority task1 4/23/2010 Medium task2 4/23/2010 High task3 4/30/2010 Low task4 4/30/2010 Medium bug1 4/23/2010 1 bug2 4/23/2010 2 What I want: Title Due Date Priority Task Priority task1 4/23/2010 Medium task2 4/23/2010 High bug1 4/23/2010 1 bug2 4/23/2010 2 task3 4/30/2010 Low task4 4/30/2010 Medium I don't care if the bugs come before or after the tasks on the same due date; I just want all the work items grouped together by due date, so I never see Tasks for a later due date before Bugs for an earlier one. Another problem is the sorting on Task Priority -- alpha sort means I can't get them to sort by the meaning of the priority. But that's a minor problem I can live with if I can get the Tasks and Bugs intermingled. Any way to do this in a single query?

  I started an app that was initially a testing platform--user management, and managers that can view their employees tests. Recently, functionality has been extended (not built yet) to allow users to complete a test in place of an employee--basically adding a record, but no user. I have three tables in use for this: users(contains user info for login/security), profiles (all personal info: address, height, etc.), and survey (contains survey answers for user). How do I extend my application to encompass this functionality with minimal change to the structure? I assume that the best way to do this would be to insert records to the tables profiles and survey, and have no username/password/email? There MUST be a user_id associated b/c the tables are linked through the user_ids...

• Ideas Related to Subset Sum with 2,3 and more integers

  I've been struggling with this problem just like everyone else and I'm quite sure there has been more than enough posts to explain this problem. However in terms of understanding it fully, I wanted to share my thoughts and get more efficient solutions from all the great people in here related to Subset Sum problem. I've searched it over the Internet and there is actually a lot sources but I'm really willing to re-implement an algorithm or finding my own in order to understand fully. The key thing I'm struggling with is the efficiency considering the set size will be large. (I do not have a limit, just conceptually large). The two phases I'm trying to implement ideas on is finding two numbers that are equal to given integer T, finding three numbers and eventually K numbers. Some ideas I've though; For the two integer part I'm thing basically sorting the array O(nlogn) and for each element in the array searching for its negative value. (i.e if the array element is 3 searching for -3). Maybe a hash table inclusion could be better, providing a O(1) indexing the element? For the three or more integers I've found an amazing blog post;http://www.skorks.com/2011/02/algorithms-a-dropbox-challenge-and-dynamic-programming/. However even the author itself states that it is not applicable for large numbers. So I was for 2 and 3 and more integers what ideas could be applied for the subset problem. I'm struggling with setting up a dynamic programming method that will be efficient for the large inputs as well.

  I've a document search page with three listboxes that allow multiple selections. They're: Category A Year Category B Only category A is mandatory, the others are optional parameters and might be empty. Each document can belong to multiple options in Category A and multiple options Category B but each document only has one year associated with it. I've kind of got this working through building up a dynamic SQL string but it's messy and I hate using it so I thought I'd ask here if anyone could see an easier way of doing this. • Programming issue while applying text to the third party control.

  Hello I have used some third party controls in my windows application. There is a snippet which is being used in our code which re-initializes all the .text property of all the controls on the form. Everything works fine except for a control. This control is similar to the Windows Panel except for it has a dropdown appearance. This control has .Caption property instead of .Text property associated to it. This causes the problem whenever i use such codes foreach (Control oControl in this.Controls) { if (oControl is DropDownPanel) { { oControl.Text = rm_ResourceManager.GetString(oControl.Name + ".Text"); } } } The text is not set here for the DropDownPanel control in the above method. Since .Text is not available for DropDownPanel control. I cannot do the following either .. ((DropDownPanel)oControl).Caption = rm_ResourceManager.GetString(oControl.Name + ".Text"); Cos it shall throw exception if i try to cast oControl with that of DropDownPanel Any ideas how can i overcome such a condition. • How extensive is an Object in CakePHP model linkage?

  I was hoping someone with an understanding on CakePHP could shed some light on a question I've been having. Here's my scenario, I have a User this User has a Company which in turn has many Department and many Address. If I were to get a User could I expect to have access to the Company and all models associated with that Company? So would $user['Company']['Department'][0] or $user['Company']['Address'][0] be possible? Which brings me back to the original question, how extensive is the linkage between models?

  For web applications under maintenance, assuming you have source control, when you need to remove part of the UI and the associated code, do you delete the code and check in, or do you comment out the old code? Arguments in favor of deleting: cleaner code, can still see deleted code in source control history, no worrying about refactoring code that might be uncommented some day. Arguments in favor of commenting: sometimes you need to add the feature back in and the developer adding it back in may not know to check source control history, sometimes the code represents unique functionality that can be a handy reference, seeing it all in one place can help provide clues to deciphering the active code.

  Hi All, in my application i am having a panel with associated a wxWindowDC and wxMemoryDC. i have to draw the various thing on that panel like bg color, on top of bg color bg image and on the top bg image i have to draw some text etc. I am storing all this thing into memory dc and finally in paint handler i m copying the memory dc to window dc. But i stuck in this process when i have a .gif (with multiple frames) and i m trying to bliting this gif image on DC that time it shows only a single frame of that gif image (its became a ordinary still image not an animated image). how i can store this whole gif image in memory dc and display full gif image on dc(with animation). I cant use wx.AnimateCrl() because i need that image in memoryDC. Any help really appreciable.

Which is a real shame because set table() needs dataSetLoader to already be set in order to call its load() function. So my question is, is there a way to enforce an order on the calls to the set functions when declaring a component?

• Breeze Expand not working on WebAPI with EF

  I have published a WebAPI service which returns a list of items. I am implementing Breeze and have managed to get it basically working with filtering/sorting. • Clickonce program will not start when launched from shell_execute

  I have a very old program that I have no control over. It launches a filetype with its default application like this(I cannot modify this code): LET Err (SHELL_EXECUTE 'open' (FIX_MESG '"{1}"' File_name) '' '') ^^The above code works, so long as that filetype isn't associated with ClickOnce. The old program is 32 bit, the OS is Windows 7 64 bit. I can compile my clickonce program as anything, but none seem to work. (I've tried x84, x64 and anyCPU) How can I make a 32 bit program use shell execute to launch a ClickOnce program on a 64bit OS?
