How to Identify a ListViewItem to Update a Single Row

I have a ListView displays information about an object. When I click a ListView Item, I open an Activity that let's me manipulate parameters of the object held in the adapter. These parameters are updated and stored remotely. When I return to the ListView (via the back button), I want to update the ListView Item that I clicked originally by requesting the parameter values from the remote server. I am currently doing this up updating the entire ListView by clearing it and rebuilding it. How do I reference the ListView Item so that I can update the data for that item only? Thanks, Jason

Internet Explorer table 1 pixel spacing problem

I've found a strange problem with Internet Explorer related to table spacing and cannot find a way to work around it. An empty table results in a single pixel white space with Internet Explorer (6 and 7, 8 not yet tested), while all other browsers ignore the empty table. Modal view becomes partly transparent when dismissing?

A completely ordinary setup: UIViewController where I push another UIVC: BlahVc *blah = [[BlahVc alloc] initWithNibName:@"Blah" bundle:nil]; UINavigationController *nav = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:blah]; blah.delegate = self; [self presentModalViewController:nav animated:YES]; [nav release]; [blah release]; Details about Blah: to support both landscape and portrait with least effort, I built Blah.xib so that inside Blah's main view, call it view A, there is another view B, with width fixed to 320px, that positions itself in the centre of the screen. With portrait iPhone it fills up the whole screen, with landscape there are margins on the side. So far, so good. Autorotate etc works well. Now, to dismiss blah, I use the recommended setup: inside Blah, I do: [self.delegate blahDidCancel:self]; And in the parent VC, I have: - (void)blahDidCancel:(Blah *)blah { [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } Both view A's and B's backgrounds are opaque white. Problem: as soon as it hits the dismissModalViewControllerAnimated line, view A seems to become transparent, while view B remains white. This is not a problem in portrait since view B still fills up the screen. But in landscape, the result is that view B is still opaque, but has see-through transparent margins on the side (where view A used to be that has now mysteriously become transparent), from where the parent view contents comes through during the dismissing animation. Why does it seem like view A becomes transparent upon dismissing the modal VC?

Improving Performance on this Image Creation function

Hello all, I am making use of GD2 and the image functions to take in a string and then convert that into an image using different fonts at different sizes. The function I use is below. Currently, its pretty quick but not quick enough. The function gets called about 20 times per user and the images generated are always new ones (different) so caching isn't going to help! I was hoping to get some ideas on how to make this function faster. Maybe supply more RAM to the script running? Anything else that is specific to this PHP function? Portable way to determining of printer is physical or virtual

I need direct-to-printer functionality for my website, with the ability to distinguish a physical printer from a virtual printer (file). Coupons.com has this functionality via a native binary which must be installed by the user. I'd prefer to avoid that. SmartSource.com does it via Java applet: Does anybody know how this is done? I dug through that Java APIs a bit, and don't see anything that would let you determine physical vs virtual, except looking at the name (that seems prone to misidentification). It would be nice to be able to do it in Java, because I already know how to write Java applets. Failing that, is there a way to do this in Flash or Silverlight? Thanks in advance. How can I overlay images over one another in Java?

So I have been posting all over and have yet to get a solid answer: I have created an image resizing class, with a crop method. The cropping works great. The issue that I am having is the background color that I specify in the drawImage function of Graphics is not working correctly. It defaults to black as the background regardless of what I supply (in this case Color.WHITE). Also, the overlaying image or top most image (comes from a file) is being inverted (I think it is) or otherwise discolored. Just so you can conceptualize this a little bit better, I am taking a jpeg and overlaying it on top of a new BufferedImage, the new buffered image's background is not being set. stored procedure to find value in 2 columns out of 3

I am putting in the samle date and i am supposed to do something similar what i am asking. I want to run a query that would pull values in any two columns out 3 if it has a 1 or if any one column has a 1 it will return just those results. However it should search all three columns and in any of the three columns where it found value as 1 it should return that result. Can anyone please help me with this. Thanks in advance. Google Script / Spreadsheet -- Shared permissions with Installed Trigger onEdit

Using an installed trigger inside spreadsheet to call onUpdateBilling(). Purpose of this script is on edit, based on content of column "billed" (i.e. "d") will highlight the entire column the predetermined color. Page running script is shared with collaborators and they have been given edit access. My expectation at this point is the script should be run with owner permissions. My shared users are unable to run the script with the given error "You don't have permission for this action." Reached my limited knowledge and googlefu for this workaround. Any help to allow operation to my collaborators is appreciated. Should a Trim method generally in the Data Access Layer or with in the Domain Layer?

I'm dealing with a database that contains data with inconsistencies such as white leading and trailing white space. In general I see a lot of developers practice defensive coding by trimming almost all strings that come from the database that may have been entered by a user at some point. In my oppinoin it is better to do such formating before data is persisted so that it is done only once and then the data can be in a consistent and reliable state. Unfortunatley this is not the case however which leads me to the next best solution, using a Trim method. If I trim all data as part of my data access layer then I don't have to concern myself with defensive trimming within the business objects of my domain layer. If I instead put the trimming responsibility in my business objects, such as with set accessors of my C# properties, I should get the same net results however the trim will be operating on all values assigned to my business objects properties not just the ones that come from the inconsistent database. I guess as a somewhat philisophical question that may determine the answer I could ask "Should the domain later be responsible for defensive/coercive formatting of data?" Would it make sense to have a set accessor for a PhoneNumber property on a business object accept a unformatted or formatted string and then attempt to format it as required or should this responsibility be pushed to the presentation and data access layers leaving the domain layer more strict in the type of data that it will accept? WordPress: Related Posts by Tags, but in the Same Categories

I'm using the script below to get related posts by tags, but noticed that if I have a picture of a bird tagged white and a table also tagged white, the table will show up in the related posts section of the bird. Is there a way to only get posts that match at least one of the categories, so bird and table won't be related, unless they share one category? Colorizing as SAS Map

I'm trying to generate a map in SAS where I would like to to make gradual color changes which correspond to my results. So the higher the counts the more intense the color changes. Also I would like to add state labels to the map. Here is my code, so far it produces a white map with varying degress of blue blocks. I'd like the states colored in intense colors, like red, bright pink,brilliant, blues and greens. Can anyone please help me modify the code to add state labels and colorize the map, and below the map add a table summarizing the statistics, like counts and percentages. What exactly is Two-way databinding in WPF ?

I'm learning WPF with MVVM and for a starter, I viewed Jason Dolinger's video on MVVM . In that he mentioned, that one of the advantage of using MVVM with WPF is two-way data binding. My question is what does he mean by two-way data binding? Is that the feature of ability to 1) bind data from controls(View) to properties in VM and 2) any change in collections or properties are reflected in the view? If I'm wrong, can anyone please explain me in detail what it is and what are its advantages? This might be a very simple doubt, but I'm very new to WPF and it's terminologies and moving away from WinForms now.

Hello, I want to set background of a grid using a style. I style I'm setting the Background Property of the grid. But I have a border filled with LinearGradientFill and a Path which also has LinearGradientFill in it. But I'm not able to combine both. Below is sample code. Paragraph with normal opacity within greyed-out div

I am greying out a web page when a user doesn't have permission to access it. In order to do that, I am placing a div with background-color white and a lowered opacity on top of the web page. I want to write some words in that div with the words having a normal opacity. As of now, the greyed out background is showing correctly. However, I can't seem to get the words to be a regular opacity. The derived styles on Firebug show the opacity on the words as normal, but it clearly isn't. What am I doing wrong? How to make HTML layout whitespace-agnostic?

If you have consecutive inline-blocks white-space becomes significant. It adds some level of space between elements. What's the "correct" way of avoiding whitespace effect to HTML layout if you want those blocks to look stuck to each other? Example: <span>a</span> <span>b</span> This renders differently than: <span>a</span><span>b</span> because of the space inbetween. I want whitespace-effect to go away without compromising HTML source code layout. I want my HTML templates to stay clean and well-indented. I think these options are ugly: 1) Tweaking text-indent, margin, padding etc. (Because it would be dependent on font-size, default white-space width etc) 2) Putting everything on a single line, next to each other. 3) Zero font-size. That would require overriding font-size in blocks, which would otherwise be inherited. 4) Possible document-wide solutions. I want the solution to stay local for a certain block of HTML. Any ideas, any obvious points which I'm missing?

I need to add 2 different titles to customize each one of them in the Nivo Lightbox Example: http://prntscr.com/23o766 But it's look like is not possible, is there a way to put 2 titles on 1 image? Or anyway to resolve this? also, I would love to be able to use the title as a link, but there are a lot of limitations. thanks. Is there any C library or tool to redirect IO and be able to configured by a metadata. And provide a dynamic link library to perform custom process for feeding data into next IO. For example, network video recorder: record video: socket do_something() file preview video: socket do_something() PCI device http service: download file: socket do_something(http) file socket post file: socket do_something(http) file serial control: monitor device: uart do_something(custom protocol) popen("zip") socket I know the unix-like OS has IO redirect feature and integrate all application you want. Even socket IO you can use /dev/tcp or implement a process to redirect to stdout. But this is process based , the process's foot print is big , IPC is heavy. Therefore, I am looking for something to redirect IO in a process and the data redirect between IO is configurable with a metadata (XML,jason or others).

How to create a snowstorm on your Windows desktop?

Practical uses aside, how (if it is possible at all) could you create a "snowing" effect on your desktop PC running Windows? Preferably with nothing but raw C/C++ and WinAPI. The requirements for the snow are: Appears over everything else shown; Snowflakes are small, possibly simple dots or clusters of a few white pixels; Does not bother working with the computer (clicking a snowflake sends the click through to the underlying window); Plays nicely with users dragging windows; Multimonitor capable. Bonus points for any of the following features: Snow accumulates on the lower edge of the window or the taskbar (if it's at the bottom of the screen); Snow accumulates also on top-level windows. Or perhaps some snow accumulates, some continues down, accumulating on every window with a title bar; Snow accumulated on windows gets "shaken off" when windows are dragged; Snow accumulated on taskbar is aware of the extended "Start" button under Vista/7. Snowflakes have shadows/outlines, so they are visible on white backgrounds; Snowflakes have complex snowflike-alike shapes (they must still be tiny). Most of these effects are straightforward enough, except the part where snow is click-through and plays nicely with dragging of windows. In my early days I've made an implementation that draws on the HDC you get from GetDesktopWindow(), which was click-through, but had problems with users dragging windows (snowflakes rendered on them got "dragged along"). The solution may use Vista/7 Aero features, but, of course, a universal solution is preferred. Any ideas? :)
