  • .NET string replace russian to english

    - by Fabio Beoni
I have a strange problem replacing chars in string... I read a .txt file containing russian text, and starting from a list of letters russian to english (ru=en), I loop the list and I WOULD like to replace russian characters with english characters. The problem is: I can see in the debug the right reading of the russian and the right reading of the english, but using myWord = myWord.Replace(ruChar, enChar), the string is not replaced. My txt file is a UTF-8 encoding.

  • C syntax or binary optimized syntax?

    - by Dpp
Let's take an simple example of two lines supposedly doing the same thing: if (value = 96 || value < 0) ... or if (value & ~ 95) ... Say 'If's are costly in a loop of thousands of iterations, is it better to keep with the traditional C syntax or better to find a binary optimized one if possible?

  • Penetration testing tools

    - by Shoban
We have 100s of websites which were developed in asp, .net and java... and we are paying lot of money for an external agency to do a penetration testing for our sites to check for security loop holes. Are there any (good) software (paid or free) to do this? or.. are there any tehnical articles which can help me develop this tool.

  • Python: Create a duplicate of an array

    - by Dan
I have an double array alist[1][1]=-1 alist2=[] for x in xrange(10): alist2.append(alist[x]) alist2[1][1]=15 print alist[1][1] and I get 15. Clearly I'm passing a pointer rather than an actual variable... Is there an easy way to make a seperate double array (no shared pointers) without having to do a double for loop? Thanks, Dan

  • Help organising controllers logically

    - by kenny99
Hi guys, I'm working on a site which i'm developing using an MVC structure. My models will represent all of data in the site, but i'm struggling a bit to decide on a good controller structure. The site will allow users to login/register and see personal data on a number of pages, but also still have access to public pages, e.g FAQs, Contact page etc. This is what I have at the moment... A Template Controller which handles main template display. The basic template for the site will remain the same whether or not you are logged in. A main Website Controller which extends the Template Controller and handles basic authentication. If the user is logged in, a User::control_panel() method is called from the constructor and this builds the control panel which will be present throughout the authenticated session. If user is not logged in, then a different view is loaded instead of the control panel, e.g with a login form. All protected/public page related controllers will extend the website controller. The user homepage has a number of widgets I want to display, which I'm doing via a Home Controller which extends the Website Controller. This controller generates these widgets via the following static calls: $this->template->content->featured_pet = Pet::featured(); $this->template->content->popular_names = Pet::most_popular(); $this->template->content->owner_map = User::generate_map(); $this->template->content->news = News::snippet(); I suppose the first thing I'm unsure about is if the above static calls to controllers (e.g Pet and User) are ok to remain static - these static methods will return views which are loaded into the main template. This is the way I've done things in the past but I'm curious to find out if this is a sensible approach. Other protected pages for signed in users will be similar to the Home Controller. Static pages will be handled by a Page Controller which will also extend the Website Controller, so that it will know whether or not the user control panel or login form should be shown on the left hand side of the template. The protected member only pages will not be routed to the Page Controller, this controller will only handle publicly available pages. One problem I have at the moment, is that if both public and protected pages extend the Website Controller, how do I avoid an infinite loop - for example, the idea is that the website controller should handle authentication then redirect to the requested controller (URL), but this will cause an infinite redirect loop, so i need to come up with a better way of dealing with this. All in all, does this setup make any sense?! Grateful for any feedback.

  • How can I use fossil (DVCS) in a home environment?

    - by Mosh
I'm trying fossil as my new VCS, since I'm a lone developer working on small projects. I started testing fossil but I encountered a (probably major newbie) problem. How does one push or pull to another directory (which is easy on Hg). Fossil pull or push commands expect a URL and not a directory. When I start a server in one directory and try to push from another directory I get the "server loop" error message. Any ideas?

  • Receiving Error Domain=kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork Code=2 when attempting to read from ReadStream

    - by theactiveactor
I'm attempting to synchronously read from a CFReadStream objected created by CFStreamCreatePairWithSocketToHost. The stream opened fine but when I attempt to invoke CFReadStreamRead on it in a loop, CFReadStreamRead() returns -1 and the resulting error is: Error Domain=kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork Code=2 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 2.)" UserInfo=0x14a920 {kCFGetAddrInfoFailureKey=8} I'm also receiving this same exact error when using this ReadStream asynchronously- the first callback I receive is this error.

  • How is spin lock implemented under the hood?

    - by httpinterpret
This is a lock that can be held by only one thread of execution at a time. An attempt to acquire the lock by another thread of execution makes the latter loop until the lock is released. How does it handle the case when two threads try to acquire the lock exactly the same time? I think this question also applies to various of other mutex implementation.

  • Sorted list of file names in a folder in VBA?

    - by Karsten W.
Is there a way to get a sorted list of file names of a folder in VBA? Up to now, I arrived at Dim fso As Object Dim objFolder As Object Dim objFileList As Object Dim vFile As Variant Dim sFolder As String sFolder = "C:\Docs" Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set objFolder = fso.GetFolder(sFolder) Set objFileList = objFolder.Files For Each vFile In objFileList ' do something ' Next vFile but it is crucial to be sure the processing order of the for loop is determined by the file names... Any help appreciated!

  • slicing behaviour question of a list of lists

    - by Lex
I got a function like def f(): ... ... return [list1, list2] this returns a list of lists [[list1.item1,list1.item2,...],[list2.item1,list2.item2,...]] now when I do the following: for i in range(0,2):print f()[i][0:10] it works and print the lists sliced but if i do print f()[0:2][0:10] then it prints the lists ignoring the [0:10] slicing. Is there any way to make the second form work or do I have to loop every time to get the desired result?

  • How to use WatiN to control browser tabs?

    - by Dmitri Nesteruk
I want to use WatiN with IE in a parallel setting, i.e. work with dozens/hundreds of pages at once. I've tried sticking it into a Parallel. For loop only to see the whole thing crash, so I'm thinking opening multiple tabs in the browser is the way to go. Can someone suggest how this can be done using WatiN (or just some IE-related API) or whether there's a better way? TIA!

  • Mercurial outgoing Hook

    - by Tom Bell
I'm looking to create a Mercurial hook that pushes to a backup remote repository when I push to a local repository. I thought I could hook the 'outgoing' hook, but this creates a infinite loop that isn't pretty. So is there like a post-push hook, or would it be best to have the repository I am pushing to have an 'incoming' hook to push the to the remote backup instead?

  • How can I resolve circular dependencies in Funq IoC?

    - by Rickard
I have two classes which I need to reference each other. class Foo { public Foo(IBar bar) {} } class Bar { public Bar(IFoo foo) {} } When I do: container.RegisterAutoWiredAs<Foo, IFoo>(); container.RegisterAutoWiredAs<Bar, IBar>(); and when I try to resolve either interface I get a circular dependency graph which results in an eternal loop. Is there an easy way to solve this in Funq or do you know of a workaround?

  • Permanently Delete MailMessage in Outlook with VBA?

    - by eidylon
Hello all, I am looking for a way to permanently delete a MailMessage from Outlook 2000 with VBA code. I'd like to do this without having to do a second loop to empty the Deleted items. Essentially, I am looking for a code equivalent to the UI method of clicking a message and hitting SHIFT+DELETE. Is there such a thing? TIA!

  • Filter items from a feed using words in a text file, with Yahoo Pipes

    - by pufferfish
I have a pipe that filters an RSS feed and removes any item that contains "stopwords" that I've chosen. Currently I've manually created a filter for each stopword in the pipe editor, but the more logical way is to read these from a file. I've figured out how to read the stopwords out of the text file, but how do I apply the filter operator to the feed, once for every stopword? The documentation states explicitly that operators can't be applied within the loop construct, but hopefully I'm missing something here.

  • How to parametrize a test using cppunit

    - by Harald Scheirich
We are using cppunit, i am trying to run the same test using different parameters, running a loop inside the test is not a good option as any failure will abort the test. I have looked at TestDecorator and TestCaller but neither seem to really fit. Code samples would be helpful. Thanks.

  • Moving from Linear Probing to Quadratic Probing (hash collisons)

    - by Nazgulled
Hi, My current implementation of an Hash Table is using Linear Probing and now I want to move to Quadratic Probing (and later to chaining and maybe double hashing too). I've read a few articles, tutorials, wikipedia, etc... But I still don't know exactly what I should do. Linear Probing, basically, has a step of 1 and that's easy to do. When searching, inserting or removing an element from the Hash Table, I need to calculate an hash and for that I do this: index = hash_function(key) % table_size; Then, while searching, inserting or removing I loop through the table until I find a free bucket, like this: do { if(/* CHECK IF IT'S THE ELEMENT WE WANT */) { // FOUND ELEMENT return; } else { index = (index + 1) % table_size; } while(/* LOOP UNTIL IT'S NECESSARY */); As for Quadratic Probing, I think what I need to do is change how the "index" step size is calculated but that's what I don't understand how I should do it. I've seen various pieces of code, and all of them are somewhat different. Also, I've seen some implementations of Quadratic Probing where the hash function is changed to accommodated that (but not all of them). Is that change really needed or can I avoid modifying the hash function and still use Quadratic Probing? EDIT: After reading everything pointed out by Eli Bendersky below I think I got the general idea. Here's part of the code at http://eternallyconfuzzled.com/tuts/datastructures/jsw_tut_hashtable.aspx: 15 for ( step = 1; table->table[h] != EMPTY; step++ ) { 16 if ( compare ( key, table->table[h] ) == 0 ) 17 return 1; 18 19 /* Move forward by quadratically, wrap if necessary */ 20 h = ( h + ( step * step - step ) / 2 ) % table->size; 21 } There's 2 things I don't get... They say that quadratic probing is usually done using c(i)=i^2. However, in the code above, it's doing something more like c(i)=(i^2-i)/2 I was ready to implement this on my code but I would simply do: index = (index + (index^index)) % table_size; ...and not: index = (index + (index^index - index)/2) % table_size; If anything, I would do: index = (index + (index^index)/2) % table_size; ...cause I've seen other code examples diving by two. Although I don't understand why... 1) Why is it subtracting the step? 2) Why is it diving it by 2?

  • performance problem looping through table rows

    - by Sridhar
    Hi, I am using jquery to loop through table rows and save the data. If the table has 200 rows it is performing slow. I am getting the javascript message "Stop Running this script" in IE when I call this method. Following is the code I am using to loop through table rows. Can you please let me know if there is a better way to do this. function SaveData() { var $table = $('#' + gridid); var rows = $table.find('tbody > tr').get(); var transactions = []; var $row, empno, newTransaction, $rowChildren; $.each(rows, function(index, row) { $row = $(row); $rowChildren = $row.children("td"); if ($rowChildren.find("input[id*=hRV]").val() === '1') { empno = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tEmpno]").val(); newTransaction = new Array(); newTransaction[0] = company; newTransaction[1] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tEmpno]").val(); newTransaction[2] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tPC]").val(); newTransaction[3] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=hQty]").val(); newTransaction[4] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=hPR]").val(); newTransaction[5] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tJC]").val(); newTransaction[6] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL1]").val(); newTransaction[7] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL2]").val(); newTransaction[8] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL3]").val(); newTransaction[9] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL4]").val(); newTransaction[10] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL5]").val(); newTransaction[11] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL6]").val(); newTransaction[12] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL7]").val(); newTransaction[13] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL8]").val(); newTransaction[14] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL9]").val(); newTransaction[15] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tL10]").val(); newTransaction[16] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tSF]").val(); newTransaction[17] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tCG]").val(); newTransaction[18] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tTF]").val(); newTransaction[19] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tWK]").val(); newTransaction[20] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tAI]").val(); newTransaction[21] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tWC]").val(); newTransaction[22] = $rowChildren.find("input[id*=tPI]").val(); newTransaction[23] = "E"; var record = newTransaction.join(';'); transactions.push(record); } }); if (transactions.length > 0) { var strTransactions = transactions.join('|'); //send data to server //here ajax function is called to save data. } }

  • MySql BulkCopy/Insert from DataReader

    - by Sky Sanders
I am loading a bunch of rows into MySql in C#. In MS Sql I can feed a DataReader to SqlBulkCopy, but the MySqlBulkCopy only presents itself as a bootstrap for a load from file. So, my current solution is using a prepared command in a transacted loop. Is there a faster way to accomplish bulk loading of MySql using a DataReader source?
