• Standard Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation fails on SOA ManagedServer start

  Hi, Trying to install Oracle Fusion Middleware 11gR2 on windows (same thing happens on Linux). I have followed the guidelines provided in the http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/install.1111/e14318/toc.htm Installing the weblogic (11g) Oracle 11g databse installation Running the RCU utility to create schema Installed and copied relevant files for Java Bridge Configure the Fusion Middleware But i found that the SOA server is not getting up in the enterprise manager its showing as down. • Oracle Tutor: Are Documented Policies and Procedures Necessary?

  People refer to policies and procedures with a variety of expressions including business process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), department operating procedures (DOPs), work instructions, specifications, and so on. For our purpose here, policies and procedures mean a set of documents that describe an organization's policies (rules) for operation and the procedures (containing tasks performed by individuals) to fulfill the policies. When an organization documents policies and procedures properly, they can be the strategic link between an organization's vision and its daily operations. Policies and procedures are often necessary because of some external requirement, such as environmental compliance or other governmental regulations. One example of an external requirement would be the American Sarbanes-Oxley Act, requiring full openness in accounting practices. Here are a few other examples of business issues that necessitate writing policies and procedures: Operational needs -- policies and procedures ensure fundamental processes are performed in a consistent way that meets the organization's needs. Risk management -- policies and procedures are identified by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) as a control activity needed to manage risk. Continuous improvement -- Procedures can improve processes by building important internal communication practices. Compliance -- Well-defined and documented processes (i.e. procedures, training materials) along with records that demonstrate process capability can demonstrate an effective internal control system compliant with regulations and standards. In addition to helping with the above business issues, policies and procedures can support the basic needs of employees and management. Well documented and easy to access policies and procedures: allow employees to understand their roles and responsibilities within predefined limits and to stay on the accepted path indentified by the organization's management provide clarity to the reader when dealing with accountability issues or activities that are of critical importance allow management to guide operations without constant intervention allow managers to control events in advance and prevent employees from making costly mistakes Can you think of another way organizations can meet the above needs of management and their employees in place of documented Policies and Procedures? • dist-update kernel failed?

  I run: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade , and the linux kernel seemed to be updated to 3.2.0-31-generic successfully. However, after I rebooted, I typed: uname -a , it showed : Linux Albert-PC 3.2.0-29-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 27 17:03:23 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Does that means the kernel wasn't being updated? I didn't encounter any error or warning messages during the upgrade or dist-upgrade. Thanks for any help

• Gnome, Desktop, Gui, Menu Panel : Upgrading from 10.04 to 11.04

  After upgrading from ubuntu 10.04 to ubuntu 11.04, my gnome (Desktop) is completely messed up. Because I was hesitant to remove all the packages that were on y desktop. I chose to keep all the dependent files during my upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04. After the upgrade my GUI is simply not working. I think it's because of the conflicting files that I choose to keep while upgrading. I can launch nautilus manually,but still I don't have access to any of the menus available in ubuntu. Is there a way I can upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10 and restore my GUI. I tried to upgrade using aptitude, but it doesn't detect the latest ubuntu release, is there a way I can specify where to find the latest release as well get my GUI back ?

  As the MDM Track owner, I would like to invite everyone to respond to the Oracle OpenWorld (October 2-6, Moscone Center, San Francisco) Call for Papers (https://oracleus.wingateweb.com/portal/cfp/ ). The Call for Papers is open now through Sunday, March 27. This is an outstanding opportunity for organizations familiar with MDM to tell their story to a very large, knowledgeable and intensely interested community. Opportunities for feedback and networking abound.  I would love to see MDM papers on: business drivers; business benefits; quantified ROI stories; business process optimization; implementation styles; implementation lessons learned; using master data as a service; data governance best practices; end-to-end data quality experiences; support for SOA; Chart of Accounts issues fixed; how to leverage reference data; improving EPM and/or BI across the board; operationalizing a data warehouse; support for cloud computing; compliance success stories; architecture, scalability, and mixed workload RAC platform performance examples; industry specific value propositions (Financial Services; Retail, Telecom; Manufacturing, High Tech Manufacturing, Public Sector, Health Care, …); and line of business specific value propositions (CRM, ERP, PLM, SCM, …); etc. In fact, given that MDM positively impacts all areas of operations and analytics, there are no limits to the ideas you may have for an OpenWorld presentation. When you follow the submission process, be sure to use “Master Data Management” for either the Primary or Optional track. • Problem upgrading 11.04

  I've been trying to upgrade my ubuntu 11.04 desktop computer, but when I click on the ugrade button: I get this error: I've tryied to change my repositories, but it changes nothing in the error((on the "setting new software channel"). Can someone point me in the right direction? • "unresolvable problem" error when upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04

  So I have solved this issue, but now I have another problem: An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. I am not upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu and I am not running a pre-release either. I have unchecked all my 3rd-party packages using Ubuntu Software Manager, EditSoftware Sources... What else might be wrong? • How does ReSharper V7 compares against V5? [closed]

  I was told by my boss we need to buy some more licenses of ReSharper and getting the quote of that we also received the quote of an upgrade to the newest version (v7) for everyone here. We are a small shop of 20 C# developers working with VS2010 We previously were working with an older version (v5) so I wondered what are the key differences between both versions, from a practical point of view, because the upgrade fee is greater than zero. I reviewed the website and of course it seems interesting, and I'm looking for arguments if it's a worthwhile investment upgrade.

• upower wants to uninstall lots of packages

  I'm running Natty and have a problem with upower. Currently installed is upower 0.9.5-4 (Maverick?), with upower 0.9.9-4 available. Update Manager won't upgrade it, but if I go to Synaptic and use Ctrl+E (force version) it prompts to remove all of the following packages: gdm gdm-guest-session gnome-power-manager gnome-session gnome-session-bin indicator-session nautilus-share ubuntu-desktop This seems like a fair chunk of the GUI, so I'm not keen to let it go ahead. Is there a better/safer way to force the package upgrade? NOTE: This machine was upgraded from Maverick to Natty using the Alternate CD a while ago. It locked-up about 80-90% through the upgrade requiring the machine to be hard reset, but it finished the upgrade process after rebooting. I was making sure everything was OK before going to Oneiric when I discovered this little gem.

• "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client"

  I just put my asp .net web service on a remote host. The service accesses an oracle db on my local machine. The service worked fine when it was running on localhost but since moving to a remote hos, I get The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleInit.Initialize() at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..cctor() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..ctor(String connectionString) at.... I know the error is related to the data provider version running on the server/client. In my case, the only dll I referenced in the project was Oracle.DataAccess So how do I go about solving this? Note that I won't be able to change anything on the web host other than my own project. My local machine is running Oracle 11g Thanks.

• Oracle data provider hangs IIS worker process when web site is stopped

  We're experiencing a nasty issue in Oracle 11g Release 2 where the w3wp process takes over and entire processor core, and debugging shows that the Oracle data provider is throwing ThreadAbortExceptions infinitely. A developer found this issue by doing the following: 1) Browse a web site that uses Oracle data connections locally (http://localhost/OracleWebSite) - we use IIS, not the ASP.NET dev server, for all of our sites. This ensures that the w3wp process is running and that an active Oracle pool of connections exists in the app pool. 2) Stop the web site (or perform a Rebuild All operation in Visual Studio on the web site in question). Our Oracle connection handling in the affected applications (all Oracle web apps) is well-established and robust. This issue does not occur if we disable connection pooling. This issue does not occur in Oracle 11g Release 1.
