• Is it possible to mix MEF and Unity within a MEF-based plugin?

  I'm finally diving into Unity head first, and have run into my first real problem. I've been gradually changing some things in my app from being MEF-resolved to Unity-resolved. Everything went fine on the application side, but then I realized that my plugins were not being loaded. I started to look into this issue, and I believe it's a case where MEF and Unity don't mix. Plugins are loaded by MEF, but each plugin needs to get access to the shared libraries in my application, like app preferences, logging, etc. Initially, my plugin constructor had the ImportingConstructor attribute. I then replaced it with InjectionConstructor so that Unity could resolve its shared library dependencies. But because I did that, MEF no longer loaded it! Then I used both attributes, which compiled, but then I got a composition error (MEF). I figured that this was because the constructor takes a parameter that was once resolved by a MEF Import, so I removed all parameters. As expected, now MEF was able to load my plugin, but because the constructor needs to call into the interface that was once passed in, construction fails. So now I'm at a point where I can get MEF to start to load my plugin, but can't do anything with it because the plugin relies on shared libraries that are registered with Unity. For those of you that have successfully mixed MEF and Unity, how do you go about resolving the references to the shared libraries with Unity?

  I have been using Windows 7 for a while but have not had to work with a particular legacy intranet application since my upgrade. Unfortunately, this application is setup as an ASP.NET Website project hosted on a remote server. When I have the website open in Visual Studio 2008 and try to debug it I get the following compiler error: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission' failed To resolve this issue on Windows Vista machines, I would change the machine's .NET Security Configuration trust level to full for the local intranet (fix outlined here). I believe this configuration utility relied upon the mscorcfg.msc which from some cursory research appears to be apart of the .NET 2.0 SDK. I have tried to follow the instructions from this Microsoft Support article running the command below to no avail.   Hi All I have a service proxy class that makes asyn call to service operation. I use a callback method to pass results back to my view model. Doing functional testing of view model, I can mock service proxy to ensure methods are called on the proxy, but how can I ensure that callback method is called as well? With RhinoMocks I can test that events are handled and event raise events on the mocked object, but how can I test callbacks? • Core Data Migration - "Can't add source store" error

  Hi, In my iPhone app I'm using Core Data and I've made changes to my data model that cannot be automatically migrated over (i.e. added new relationships). I added the data model version (Design - Data Model - Add Model Version) and applied my new data model changes to the new version 2. I then created a mapping object model and set the Source and Destination models to their correct data models (old and new respectively). When I run the app and call the persistentStoreCoordinator, my app barfs with the following: 2010-02-27 02:40:30.922 XXXX[73578:20b] Unresolved error Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134110 UserInfo=0xfc2240 "Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 134110.)", { NSUnderlyingError = Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134130 UserInfo=0xfbb3a0 "Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 134130.)"; reason = "Can't add source store"; } FWIW (not much i think) I've also made the usual code changes in persistentStoreCoordinator to use the NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption and NSInferMappingModelAutomaticallyOption (for future data model changes that can be automatically migrated). More relevantly, my managedObjectModel is created by calling initWithContentsOfURL where the file/resource type is "momd". I've tried updating both the source and destination model in the mapping model (Design - Mapping Model - Update XXX Model) as well as deleted the mapping model and recreated it. I've cleaned and re-built but all to no avail. I still get the above error message. Any pointers/thoughts on how I can further debug or resolve this problem please? I haven't posted any code snippets because this feels much more like a build environment issue (and my code is very standard - just the usual core data code to handle migrations using a mapping model but I'm happy to show the code if it helps).   In my base project I use dependency of JasperReports which has non-existent repository declaration in its pom. When I run every Maven commad there is dependency looking for commons-collection in this Jasper repository so I need to wait for timeout. This is my base project and is used as dependency in my others projects so again I need to wait for timeout. Is there are a way to move this repository to blacklisted or override this settings?   Hi, I'm trying to configure repication on SQL Server 2005. I can done it using wizard. But when I'm trying to run generated scripts by this wizard the error message appears: Msg 14013, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSrepl_addpublication, Line 159 This database is not enabled for publication. Msg 18757, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSrepl_addpublication_snapshot, Line 66 Unable to execute procedure. The database is not published. Execute the procedure in a database that is published for replication. Msg 14013, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSrepl_addarticle, Line 168 This database is not enabled for publication. Msg 14294, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_verify_job_identifiers, Line 25 Supply either @job_id or @job_name to identify the job. It's a bit strange, because when I'm running this query on database where I clicked and then removed publication, everyting is going well. The problem is when I'm using my query on new database. What is more I'm using sp_replicationdboption stored procedure. When I'm tryin to run it, it says: The replication option 'publish' of database 'ReplicationTest00' has already been set to true. Please help me resolve this issue.

• Java: What are the various available security settings for applets

  I have an applet that throws this exception when trying to communicate with the server (running on localhost). This problem is limited to Applets only - a POJO client is able to communicate with the exact same server without any problem. Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-1" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net .SocketPermission 127.0.0.1:9999 connect,resolve) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:323) My applet.policy file's contents is: grant { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; My question is what are the other places where I need to modify my security settings to grant an Applet more security settings? Thank you. EDIT: Further investigation has lead me to find that this problem only occurs on some machines - but not others. So it could be a machine level (global) setting that is causing this, rather than a application-specific setting such as the one in the applet.policy file. EDIT: Another SO question: Socket connection to originating server of an unsigned Java applet This seems to describe the exact same problem, and Tom Hawtin - tackline 's answer provides the reason why (a security patch released that disallows applets from connecting to localhost). Bearing this in mind, how do I grant the applet the security settings such that in can indeed run on my machine. Also why does it run as-is on other machines but not mine?

• How to upgrade the project build in visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2008?

  I have one OPC ( OLE for Process control ) server project which is developed into visual studio 2005. I want to run it in visual studio 2008. The coding for the OPC server project is done in VC++. I want to connect my OPC client to this OPC server. When I was opened the OPC server project which was build into visual studio 2005 into visual studio 2008 first time it was asking for conversion wizard. I gone through that wizard & successfully finished that wizard. But when I build ( by right clicking on the project & choosing build solution ) it is giving lots of error near about 64 errors. Most of the errors are like - fetal error C1083:Can not open type library file:'msxml4.dll':No such file or directory, fetal error LINK1181:can not open input file 'rpcndr.lib' , error C2051:case expression not constant. only these 3 types of errors in am getting. All these 3 errors are repeated in Error list & becoming bunch of 64 errors. Please provide me the solution for the above issue. Can you provide me any suusgestion or link or any way through whcih I can resolve the above issue?

• How do I keep a CALayer, sublayer of a CATiledLayer, from changing it's scale after a zoom ?

  I have a CATiledLayer that is used to display a PDF page (this CATiledLayer is the layer type of my UIView which is a subview of a UIScrollView). I want to add overlay markers on this page. So I add a sublayer to my CATiledLayer. This sublayer again hosts the different marker's layers and acts as a grouping layer. So graphically, I have: (keep in mind that I have multiple markers which are CALayers also, this is ascii art after all) pdf page (CATiledLayer) ---------------------- | CALayer | | +---------+ | | | +----+ | | | | |mker| | | | | +----+ | | | +---------+ | | | ---------------------- I have set up the canonical drawLayer:inContext: in my view for drawing the pdf. When I zoom to have more detail, the pdf gets rendered correctly, but the markers get scaled. No matter what I do to the bounds of the CALayer, my markers always become bigger and appear jagged. I would like to have the markers always the same size, as when they were initialized and first shown when the view was drawn. Is this possible ? or am I using a wrong approach ? Should I do special drawing for my contained CALayer in the drawLAyer:inContext: message ? As you see, there are things that I am missing to resolve my problem. Thank you for any help you provide.

  I have downloaded & installed the OPCDA.NET client component evaluation & XMLDA.NET client component evaluation. It provides some C# samples for browsing the available OPC Server, connecting to the OPC server, & browsing the available items on the server. I know the programatic way in which we can access the local OPC server. It is provided in the sample C# applications. I have installed the OPC server on another machine ( remote machine ). I have done all the required setting related to the 'dcomcnfg' utility. I can access the remote OPC server from client machine by using the Test Client provided by the OPCDA.NET client component evaluation & XMLDA.NET client component evaluation. But I am unaware of how this can be done programmatically. In the available C# samples I found no such programatic part (coding ) in which we can access the remote OPC server. Can you provide me the code through which I can browse the available remote machines in my network, available OPC server on each machine after selecting the specific machine name, connecting to the OPC server & browsing the available items on the server ? or Can you provide me the any link through which I can resolve the above issue ?

• Android:Multi touch doesn't work as expected?

  Hi folks, Help me in resolving the below issue. I have three image buttons on screen. All these three buttons controlled under ontouchlistner as below. buttonOne.setOnTouchListener(this); buttonTwo.setOnTouchListener(this); buttonThree.setOnTouchListener(this); I override "public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event)". Under this i check for these three image buttons touch events like below. ImageButton imageBtn = (ImageButton) v; if ( imageBtn == buttonOne ) // first button touch ..Log.. else if ( imageBtn == buttonTwo ) ..Log.. else if ( imageBtn == buttonThree ) // first button touch ..Log.. My problem is, as it is under multi touch event handler like above, it does not detect when touch all three button at a time to try to produce multi touch effect, instead it detects only one imagebutton touch at a time even though i touch all three image buttons. As i am developing this project on Android 1.6 SDK, is there any problem accessing my requirement(multi touch) (or) it is a known issue? I am hoping that, when it works for single button touch, why shouldn't it work when clicking three imagebuttons at a time to produce three logs printed as per my above code? How do i resolve it for my case? Please don't question me why i am still developing on 1.6 for such a requirement. Thank you. Appreciate your suggestions !

  I am using Symfony 1.3.2 with Propel ORM on Ubuntu 9.10. I am incorporating memcache to the website. I have modified the setup() method in apps/frontend/ProjectConfiguration.class.php like this: class ProjectConfiguration { public function setup() { // original SF generated code here .. require_one sfConfig::get('sf_lib_dir').'/MyCache.class.php'; myCache::init(); } } my cache singleton is implemented something like this: class MyCache { private static memcache = null; private static inited = false; public static init() { if (self::$inited) return; self::$memcache = new Memcache(); if (self::$memcache->connect('localhost', 11211) { // Do some stuff .. self::$inited = true; } } } Warning: Memcache::connect(0memcache.connect0): Can't connect to localhost:11211, Connection refused(111) in /path_to_class/MyCache.class.php This happens for both CLI (e.g. running SF tasks) or for web access through the browser. Does anyone know how to resolve this (I suspect its something to do with Linux user privileges). As an aside, I am aware that SF prvoides an sfAPCache wrapper class for cacheing. I am intentionally not using it for two reasons: I cannot find any comprehensive (and up to date) docs on this class I want to learn the memcache API directly, since I will be accesing it from other languages.

• ClickOnce Deployment Error - Access to the Path is Denied

  I have a WPF app that I'm deploying to a network path using ClickOnce deployment. After the app is deployed to a network location, I use the ClickOnce html page to launch the installation process. I am successfully able to download and install the app. However, my users are not able to download and install the app. When a user navigates to the ClickOnce html page and clicks to begin the installation process, the following error message is received: ERROR SUMMARY Below is a summary of the errors, details of these errors are listed later in the log. * Activation of http://software.mycompany.com/myapp/myapp.application resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected: + Downloading file://dev/webs/software/myapp/myapp.application did not succeed. * [4/5/2010 1:56:59 PM] System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDownloadException (Unknown subtype) - Downloading file://dev/Webs/software/myapp/myapp.application did not succeed. All signs point to this being a security issue. So, I've done the following: Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the files that were being deployed as part of my project Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the network location where the app was deployed (//dev/webs/software/myapp) Ensured that "Everyone" had read access to the IIS path where the ClickOnce html page is located In each of these cases, I've made no progress in getting the app to successfully deploy via ClickOnce. Again, the odd thing is that I am able to successfully walk through the process of downloading and installing the app. It's my users, though, that need the ability to download and install the app. I've looked extensively on the web for answers, but there hasn't been much. I'd like to resolve the issue without "re-installing" or "rigging" anything. I need a solid answer. Thank you all for your input!! Mike

• Collision Attacks, Message Digests and a Possible solution

  I've been doing some preliminary research in the area of message digests. Specifically collision attacks of cryptographic hash functions such as MD5 and SHA-1, such as the Postscript example and X.509 certificate duplicate. From what I can tell in the case of the postscript attack, specific data was generated and embedded within the header of the postscript (which is ignored during rendering) which brought about the internal state of the md5 to a state such that the modified wording of the document would lead to a final MD equivalent to the original. The X.509 took a similar approach where by data was injected within the comment/whitespace of the certificate. Ok so here is my question, and I can't seem to find anyone asking this question: Why isn't the length of ONLY the data being consumed added as a final block to the MD calculation? In the case of X.509 - Why is the whitespace and comments being taken into account as part of the MD? Wouldn't a simple processes such as one of the following be enough to resolve the proposed collision attacks: MD(M + |M|) = xyz MD(M + |M| + |M| * magicseed_0 +...+ |M| * magicseed_n) = xyz where : M : is the message |M| : size of the message MD : is the message digest function (eg: md5, sha, whirlpool etc) xyz : is the acutal message digest value for the message M magicseed_{i}: Is a set random values generated with seed based on the internal-state prior to the size being added. This technqiue should work, as to date all such collision attacks rely on adding more data to the original message. In short, the level of difficulty involved in generating a collision message such that: It not only generates the same MD But is also comprehensible/parsible/compliant and is also the same size as the original message, is immensely difficult if not near impossible. Has this approach ever been discussed? Any links to papers etc would be nice.

• Why is TransactionScope operation is not valid?

  I have a routine which uses a recursive loop to insert items into a SQL Server 2005 database The first call which initiates the loop is enclosed within a transaction using TransactionScope. When I first call ProcessItem the myItem data gets inserted into the database as expected. However when ProcessItem is called from either ProcessItemLinks or ProcessItemComments I get the following error. “The operation is not valid for the state of the transaction” I am running this in debug with VS 2008 on Windows 7 and have the MSDTC running to enable distributed transactions. The code below isn’t my production code but is set out exactly the same. The AddItemToDatabase is a method on a class I cannot modify and uses a standard ExecuteNonQuery() which creates a connection then closes and disposes once completed. I have looked at other posting on here and the internet and still cannot resolve this issue. • Terrible DotNetNuke performance

  I'm involved with a project using DotNetNuke version 05.01.04 Community Edition. We are building our new Intranet using it, but performance is terrible. We have five people adding pages and content to it and every 15-30 seconds they experience a pause of 10 seconds or longer before the system continues and the next screens loads. The server is Windows 2003, 3.8GHz with 1GB of RAM. I'm told by our server admin that the CPU and memory performance don't appear to be the bottleneck. We currently have 350 pages in the system, we a plan to add 1000. So we need to resolve this performance problem so that we can enter content and so we can go live. I just can't see where the bottleneck is. Is there a good why to determine the bottleneck when using DotNetNuke? Modules installed Publish:Engage (Not currently in use) Page Blaster (Doesn't appear to providing caching when users logged in using Integrated Authentication) SimpleGallery XMod Content Manager IIS Setup Application recycling completely disabled (Apart from a 2am recycle) New findings: 18th March 2010 The main bottleneck was due to version 5.1.4 having a bug which caused 1300 database roundtrips on an average page, due to broken database in-memory caching. We've upgraded to 5.2.4 which has resolved this bottleneck. Now the next biggest bottleneck is the navigation. We've used both DDR:Menu and DDN:Nav, but both have a major impact on performance. Is there a navigation interface out there that doesn't drain performance so badly?

  Hi, I'm trying to build a program against wxWidgets, and I get a linker error. I'd like to really understand what it means. The error is: /usr/lib/libwx_baseu-2.8.so: undefined reference to `std::ctype<char>::_M_widen_init() const@GLIBCXX_3.4.11' What I don't understand is why the error is at libwx_baseu-2.8.so. I thought that .so files had all its symbols resolved, contrary to .o files that still need linking. However, as I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing it, depending on the WHERE statement at the end of my stored procedure, either returns everything within the table or nothing at all. This page describes the differences between Mobile Silverlight and Silverlight 3. Of particular interest is this: The System.Reflection.Emit namespace is not supported in Silverlight for Windows Phone. This is precisely why Unity is crashing on the phone, DynamicMethodConstructorStrategy class uses System.Reflection.Emit quite extensively... So the question is, what alternative to Unity is there for Windows Phone 7?

• OData / WCF Data Service - HTTP 500 Error

  I have created an OData/WCF service using Visual Studio 2010 on Windows XP SP3 with all current patches installed. When I click on "view in browser", the service opens and I see the 3 tables from my EF model. However, when I add a table name ("Commands" in this case) to the end of the query string, rather than seeing the data from the table, I get an HTTP 500 error. (This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.). I have not only followed the examples from 2 sites, but have also tried running the sample application that the blog poster sent me (that works on his machine), and still am not having any luck. • AdMob ad in iPhone app makes App content disappear when "done" is pressed!

  Hello All, When I return from an adMob ad by hitting "done" the content of my app has disappeared ! All that remains is a background image I had attached directly to the main window. Oddly I can still hear the result of my touch events from my main screen (which is now gone). This may be related to the issue some people have had regarding a 20 pixel move involving the toolbar...I see something to that effect as the ad starts to overlay. I have admob in another app that is working fine, and I notice when the ad opens in that app the ad content fills the whole screen EXCEPT the top toolbar (it starts right under it). In the new app I'm working on right now this isn't the case. When the ad starts to open I see the tool bar vanish, then the add comes in and fills the entire screen (including the area where the tool bar was); then when I click done and the the ad goes away everything under it is gone as well. It may be worth noting that the App I had working was 2.x and the current app is 3.x (and thus using the admob 3.0 libraries). This is very odd and deal-breaking; I need help ASAP The relevant part of my view hierarchy is as follows: AppDelegate - ViewController - MainView (Ad is in here) There are also some other Views that are children of the ViewController and a UITabbar is also a subview of the ViewController (programmatically declared, not a UITabBar Controller). Any help you can offer would be extremely appreciate...I need to resolve this issue ASAP, release in two days! Thanks!!
