• File sharing service with an API?

- by zoul
Hello! Is there a file sharing service akin to Dropbox or SugarSync that would offer an API? I would like to add a file sharing service to a website, but the full Dropbox interface is still too complicated for my users, so that I’d like an API to build a dead-simple list of files integrated to the website. There is a Dropbox API project on Google Code, but it seems to be dead. PS: Extra points if the service has a free plan.

• WSDL Object model

- by Swaroop
I'm using the WSDL object model (WOM) along with XSOM for a project of mine. The WOM gives me a way to drill down and look at messages and the message types which are element declarations. However, I am unable to find a way to parse the simple and complex types. The APIs are tricky. There seems to be some kind of a connection between WOM and XSOM. I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me how I can parse the simple and the complex types in my .wsdl file.

• CreateProcessAsUser doesn't draw the GUI

- by pavel.tuzov
Hi, I have a windows service running under "SYSTEM" account that checks if a specific application is running for each logged in user. If the application is not running, the service starts it (under corresponding user name). I'm trying to accomplish my goal using CreateProcessAsUser(). The service does start the application under corresponding user name, but the GUI is not drawn. (Yes, I'm making sure that "Allow service to interact with desktop" check box is enabled). System: XP SP3, labguage: C# Here is some code that might be of interest: PROCESS_INFORMATION processInfo = new PROCESS_INFORMATION(); startInfo.cb = Marshal.SizeOf(startInfo); startInfo.lpDesktop = "winsta0\\default"; bResult = Win32.CreateProcessAsUser(hToken, null, strCommand, IntPtr.Zero, IntPtr.Zero, false, 0, IntPtr.Zero, null, ref startInfo, out processInfo); As far as I understand, setting startInfo.lpDesktop = "winsta0\default"; should have used the desktop of corresponding user. Even contrary to what is stated here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/165194, I tried setting lpDesktop to null, or not setting it at all, both giving the same result: process was started in the name of expected user and I could see a part of window's title bar. The "invisible" window intercepts mouse click events, handles them as expected. It just doesn't draw itself. Is anyone familiar with such a problem and knows what am I doing wrong?

• C# code to GZip and upload a string to Amazon S3

- by BigJoe714
Hello. I currently use the following code to retrieve and decompress string data from Amazon C#: GetObjectRequest getObjectRequest = new GetObjectRequest().WithBucketName(bucketName).WithKey(key); using (S3Response getObjectResponse = client.GetObject(getObjectRequest)) { using (Stream s = getObjectResponse.ResponseStream) { using (GZipStream gzipStream = new GZipStream(s, CompressionMode.Decompress)) { StreamReader Reader = new StreamReader(gzipStream, Encoding.Default); string Html = Reader.ReadToEnd(); parseFile(Html); } } } I want to reverse this code so that I can compress and upload string data to S3 without being written to disk. I tried the following, but I am getting an Exception: using (AmazonS3 client = Amazon.AWSClientFactory.CreateAmazonS3Client(AWSAccessKeyID, AWSSecretAccessKeyID)) { string awsPath = AWSS3PrefixPath + "/" + keyName+ ".htm.gz"; byte[] buffer = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(content); using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { using (GZipStream zip = new GZipStream(ms, CompressionMode.Compress)) { zip.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); PutObjectRequest request = new PutObjectRequest(); request.InputStream = ms; request.Key = awsPath; request.BucketName = AWSS3BuckenName; using (S3Response putResponse = client.PutObject(request)) { //process response } } } } The exception I am getting is: Cannot access a closed Stream. What am I doing wrong?

• Convert xml as string

- by hakish
i have a scenario where in i need to send an xml as a tag content in a SOAP request message to a webservice for example <arg_1><xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><sometag><somemoretag>abcd</somemoretag></sometag></arg_1>
arg_1 happens to be an String parameter to a webservice. So i bring in a CDATA section for this <arg_1><xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><sometag><somemoretag>abcd</somemoretag></sometag></arg_1> But this keeps throwing me an exception org.xml.sax.SAXException: WSWS3084E: Error: SimpleDeserializer encountered a child element, which is NOT expected, in something it was trying to deserialize. Message being parsed: I keep getting this exception. Has anyone seen this before??

• Running msiexec from a service (Local System account)

- by Jarrod
We are working on an update system for our software. The updater should in the background as a service, and when an update is available, downloads and installs it. We need the service to install the update since the msi requires elevation to run, but some of our clients will be restricted users. The MSI is a WIX MSI and does a Major Upgrade when run. The problem is, the update does not seem to work when ran from our service. I can see msiexec run, and it returns successfully, but seems to make no changes to the system. The same command, when run from my user account works as expected. Is there some caveat to running msiexec from a Local System service? We are simply doing: System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("msiexec.exe", arguments);

• How do I fix: InvalidOperationException upon Session timeout in Ajax WebService call

- by Ngm
Hi All, We are invoking Asp.Net ajax web service from the client side. So the JavaScript functions have calls like: // The function to alter the server side state object and set the selected node for the case tree. function JSMethod(caseId, url) { Sample.XYZ.Method(param1, param2, OnMethodReturn); } function OnMethodReturn(result) { var sessionExpiry = CheckForSessionExpiry(result); var error = CheckForErrors(result); ... process result } And on the server side in the ".asmx.cs" file: namespace Sample [ScriptService] class XYZ : WebService { [WebMethod(EnableSession = true)] public string Method(string param1, string param2) { if (SessionExpired()) { return sessionExpiredMessage; } . . . } } The website is setup to use form based authentication. Now if the session has expired and then the JavaScript function "JSMethod" is invoked, then the following error is obtained: Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.Net.WebServiceFailedException: The server method 'Method' failed with the following error: System.InvalidOperationException-- Authentication failed. This exception is raised by method "function Sys$Net$WebServiceProxy$invoke" in file "ScriptResource.axd": function Sys$Net$WebServiceProxy$invoke { . . . { // In debug mode, if no error was registered, display some trace information var error; if (result && errorObj) { // If we got a result, we're likely dealing with an error in the method itself error = result.get_exceptionType() + "-- " + result.get_message(); } else { // Otherwise, it's probably a 'top-level' error, in which case we dump the // whole response in the trace error = response.get_responseData(); } // DevDiv 89485: throw, not alert() throw Sys.Net.WebServiceProxy._createFailedError(methodName, String.format(Sys.Res.webServiceFailed, methodName, error)); } So the problem is that the exception is raised even before "Method" is invoked, the exception occurs during the creation of the Web Proxy. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem

• SSRS 2008 - How to hide the plus icon in a group visibility toggle cell

- by Daniel Coffman
I have a report that shows or hides columns in a group based on a header cell. SSRS makes this pretty easy and is kind enough to place a little plus/minus icon in the toggling cell. I want to HIDE this plus/minus icon when there is only one column of data in the subgroup, because it shows that one column by default so expanding the group doesn't do anything. This really only applies to one specific group, because all the others always have more than one column of data, so a way to hide only the icon for a specific group would be fine. JavaScript won't work (I don't think) because the client ID of the plus/minus image is generated by the report and changes with each generation. see this image for more clarity: http://imgur.com/vqaQA.png

• ASP.NET ReportViewer Google Chrome CPU usage

- by Phil
Hello, We have found an interesting issue between ASP.NET 3.5 and ReportViewer with Google Chrome. Our set of pages work fine until a ReportViewer control displays a report. Google Chrome then eats up 50% of the CPU doing nothing it seems. I've extracted the ReportViewer control to a blank Web Forms project to confirm its that control and not a rogue bit of my code. I'm using ReportViewer in local mode (RDLC file) so I presume its the 2005 version? Anyone seen this before and have a solution? Phil Edit: Google Chrome 3.0.195.33 on Vista Business x64 Edit 2: Added bounty for help fixing this

• .NET Webservice Client: Auto-retry upon call failure

- by Yon
Hi, We have a .NET client calling a Java webservice using SSL. Sometimes the call fails due to poor connectivity (the .NET Client is a UI that is used from the weirdest locations). We would like to implement an automatic retry mechanism that will automatically retry a failed call X times before giving up. This should be done solely with specific types of connectivity exceptions (and not for exceptions generated by the web service itself). We tried to find how to do it on the Binding/Channel level, but failed... any ideas? Thanks, yonadav

• Can't get JAX-WS binding customization to work

- by Florian
Hi! I'm trying to resolve a name clash in a wsdl2java mapping with CXF 2.2.6 The relevant wsdl snippets are: <types>... <xs:schema... <xs:element name="GetBPK"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="PersonInfo" type="szr:PersonInfoType" /> <xs:element name="BereichsKennung" type="xs:string" /> <xs:element name="VKZ" type="xs:string" /> <xs:element name="Target" type="szr:FremdBPKRequestType" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> <xs:element name="ListMultiplePersons" type="xs:boolean" minOccurs="0" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> <xs:element name="GetBPKResponse"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="GetBPKReturn" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0" /> <xs:element name="FremdBPK" type="szr:FremdBPKType" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> <xs:element name="PersonInfo" type="szr:PersonInfoType" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="5" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> </types> <message name="GetBPKRequest"> <part name="parameters" element="szr:GetBPK" /> </message> <message name="GetBPKResponse"> <part name="parameters" element="szr:GetBPKResponse" /> </message> <binding... <operation name="GetBPK"> <wsdlsoap:operation soapAction="" /> <wsdlsoap:header message="szr:Header" part="SecurityHeader" use="literal" /> <wsdlsoap:body use="literal" /> <output name="GetBPKResponse"> <wsdlsoap:body use="literal" /> </output> <fault name="SZRException"> <wsdlsoap:fault use="literal" name="SZRException" /> </fault> </operation> As you can see, the GetBPK operation takes a GetBPK as input and returns a GetBPKResponse as an output. Each element of both the GetBPK, as well as the GetBPKResponse type would be mapped to a method parameter in Java. Unfortunately both GetBPK, as well as the GetBPKResponse have an element with the name "PersonInfo", which results in a name clash. I'm trying to resolve that using a binding customization: <jaxws:bindings wsdlLocation="SZ2-aktuell.wsdl" xmlns:jaxws="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jaxws" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:jxb="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jaxb" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" xmlns:szr="urn:SZRServices"> <jaxws:bindings node="wsdl:definitions/wsdl:portType[@name='SZR']/wsdl:operation[@name='GetBPK']"> <jaxws:parameter part="wsdl:definitions/wsdl:message[@name='GetBPKResponse']/wsdl:part[@name='parameters']" childElementName="szr:PersonInfoType" name="PersonInfoParam" /> </jaxws:bindings> </jaxws:bindings> and call wsdl2java with the -b parameter. Unforunately, I still get the message: WSDLToJava Error: Parameter: personInfo already exists for method getBPK but of type at.enno.egovds.szr.PersonInfoType instead of java.util.List<at.enno.egovds.szr.PersonInfoType>. Use a JAXWS/JAXB binding customization to rename the parameter. I have tried several variants of the binding customization, and searched Google for hours, but unfortunately I cannot find a solution to my problem. I suspenct that the childElementName attribute is wrong, but I can't find an example of what would have to be set to make it work. Thanks in advance!

• Passing parameter to SOAP Web Service Requests Using Visual Studio Team System 2008

- by Nicholas
How can I pass in the current datetime parameter to a SOAP request? I know you can pass in parameters by adding a datasource to the web test project and reference it like this {{DataSource.TableName.FieldName}}. But I want to pass in current datetime parameter as a dynamic value (something like DateTime.Now). How do I go about doing this? Below is sample SOAP request that I put into String Body: <soap:body> <MyQuery xmlns="http://something.com"> <req> <QueryType>{{DataSource.Table.QueryType}}</QueryType>
<RequestDateTime>{{insert DateTime.Now here}}</RequestDatetime> </req> </MyQuery> </soap:body> P.S. • WCF Security in a Windows Service

- by Alphonso
I have a WCF service which can run as Console App and a Windows Service. I have recently copied the console app up to a W2K3 server with the following security settings: <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="ServiceBinding_Security" transactionFlow="true" > <security mode="TransportWithMessageCredential" > <message clientCredentialType="UserName" /> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> <serviceCredentials> <userNameAuthentication userNamePasswordValidationMode="Custom" customUserNamePasswordValidatorType="Common.CustomUserNameValidator, Common" /> </serviceCredentials> Security works fine with no problems. I have exactly the same code, but running in a windows service and I get the following error when I try to call any of the methods from a client: System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException was unhandled Message="An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail." Source="mscorlib" StackTrace: Server stack trace: at System.ServiceModel.Channels.SecurityChannelFactory`1.SecurityRequestChannel.ProcessReply(Message reply, SecurityProtocolCorrelationState correlationState, TimeSpan timeout) ...... (lots of stacktrace info - not very useful) InnerException: System.ServiceModel.FaultException Message="An error occurred when verifying security for the message." The exception tells me nothing. I'm assuming that it has something to do with acces to system resources from the Windows Service. I've tried running it under the same account as the console app, but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

• C# Web Reference and PHP

- by Louis
I am attempting to call a Web Service (created in PHP) from my C# application. I have successfully added the Web Reference in Visual Studios, however I cannot figure out exactly how to invoke the call to the web service. I have been following this tutorial: http://sanity-free.org/article25.html however when I try and compile I get a "The type or namespace name 'SimpleService' could not be found". My C# code is as follows: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.IO; namespace inVision_OCR { public partial class Form1 : Form { public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void translateButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { // We need to snap the image here somehow . . . // Open up the image and read its contents into a string FileStream file = new FileStream("\\Hard Disk\\ocr_images\\test.jpg", FileMode.Open); StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(file); string s = sr.ReadToEnd(); sr.Close(); // Using SOAP, pass this message to our development server SimpleService svc = new SimpleService(); string s1 = svc.getOCR("test"); MessageBox.Show(s); } } } Any help would be appreciated.

• Securing Web Service communication with SSL using CXF

- by reef
Hi all, I am trying to secure communications via SSL/TLS for one of our Web Service using CXF 2.2.5. I am wondering how to update client and server Spring configuration file to activate this feature. I found some information on CXF's website (CXF Wiki) for the client configuration, here is the given example: <http:conduit name="{http://apache.org/hello_world}HelloWorld.http-conduit"> <http:tlsClientParameters> <sec:keyManagers keyPassword="password"> <sec:keyStore type="JKS" password="password" file="src/test/java/org/apache/cxf/systest/http/resources/Morpit.jks"/> </sec:keyManagers> <sec:trustManagers> <sec:keyStore type="JKS" password="password" file="src/test/java/org/apache/cxf/systest/http/resources/Truststore.jks"/> </sec:trustManagers> <sec:cipherSuitesFilter> <sec:include>.*_EXPORT_.*</sec:include> <sec:include>.*_EXPORT1024_.*</sec:include> <sec:include>.*_WITH_DES_.*</sec:include> <sec:include>.*_WITH_NULL_.*</sec:include> <sec:exclude>.*_DH_anon_.*</sec:exclude> </sec:cipherSuitesFilter> </http:tlsClientParameters> <http:authorization> <sec:UserName>Betty</sec:UserName> <sec:Password>password</sec:Password> </http:authorization> <http:client AutoRedirect="true" Connection="Keep-Alive"/> </http:conduit> Concerning this configuration, the Concerning the server side configuration I am unable to launch the server properly, here is the configuration I have: <http:destination name="{urn:ihe:iti:xds-b:2007}DocumentRepository_Port_Soap12.http-destination"> </http:destination> <httpj:engine-factory> <httpj:engine port="9043"> <httpj:tlsServerParameters> <sec:keyManagers keyPassword="changeit"> <sec:keyStore type="JKS" password="changeit" file="security/keystore.jks" /> </sec:keyManagers> <sec:trustManagers> <sec:keyStore type="JKS" password="changeit" file="security/cacerts.jks" /> </sec:trustManagers> <sec:cipherSuitesFilter> <sec:include>.*_EXPORT_.*</sec:include> <sec:include>.*_EXPORT1024_.*</sec:include> <sec:include>.*_WITH_DES_.*</sec:include> <sec:include>.*_WITH_NULL_.*</sec:include> <sec:exclude>.*_DH_anon_.*</sec:exclude> </sec:cipherSuitesFilter> <sec:clientAuthentication want="true" required="true" /> </httpj:tlsServerParameters> </httpj:engine> </httpj:engine-factory> But when I run my application server (JOnas) with this configuration I have the following error message: Line 20 in XML document from ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/beans.xml] is invalid; nested exception is org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.2.4.c: The matching wildcard is strict, but no declaration can be found for element 'httpj:engine-factory'. Here's the situation: I can run Report Builder from localhost My coworker can run Report Builder on his Vista computer Another coworker can run Report Builder on his XP SP3 computer (IE7) I can NOT run Report Builder on my XP SP3 computer (IE7) I'm told that it could be anything from an errant registry entry to a group policy problem. Here is what I've tried: Put the site into "Trusted Sites" with "low" security re-install .NET create a new local user account and attempt to run it The results? Every single time, I get a dialog box: "Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor" I click the details button and get this: PLATFORM VERSION INFO Windows : 5.1.2600.196608 (Win32NT) Common Language Runtime : 2.0.50727.3607 System.Deployment.dll : 2.0.50727.3053 (netfxsp.050727-3000) mscorwks.dll : 2.0.50727.3607 (GDR.050727-3600) dfdll.dll : 2.0.50727.3053 (netfxsp.050727-3000) dfshim.dll : 2.0.50727.3053 (netfxsp.050727-3000) SOURCES Deployment url : http://www.example.com/ReportServer/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder.application Server : Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered-By : ASP.NET X-AspNet-Version: 2.0.50727 IDENTITIES Deployment Identity : ReportBuilder.application, Version=9.0.3042.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c3bce3770c238a49, processorArchitecture=msil APPLICATION SUMMARY * Online only application. * Trust url parameter is set. • how to handle exceptions in ejb 3 based soap webservice

- by Alexandre GUIDET
Hi, I am currently developing an EJB3 based SOAP webservice and I wonder what are the best practices to handles uncatched exceptions and return a well formated SOAP response to the client. example: @WebMethod public SomeResponse processSomeService( @WebParam(name = "someParameters") SomeParameters someParameters) { // the EJB do something with the parameters // and retrieve a response fot the client SomeResponse theResponse = this.doSomething(someParameters); return theResponse; } Do I have to catch generic exception like: @WebMethod public SomeResponse processSomeService( @WebParam(name = "someParameters") SomeParameters someParameters) { // the EJB do something with the parameters // and retrieve a response to return to the client try { SomeResponse theResponse = this.doSomething(someParameters); } catch (Exception ex) { // log the exception logger.log(Level.SEVERE, "something is going wrong {0}", ex.getMessage()); // get a generic error response not to let the // technical reason going to the client SomeResponse theResponse = SomeResponse.createError(); } return theResponse; } Is there some kind of "best practice" in order to achieve this ? Thank you

• Printing PDFs Server-side using Acrobat Reader from ASP.NET

- by Chris Roberts
Hi, I have been presented with a problem which requires me to print PDF files from a server as part of an ASP.NET web service. The problem is further complicated by the fact that the PDF files I have to print can ONLY be printed using Adobe Reader (they were created using Adobe LiveCycle and have some strange protection in them). This piece of code seems to do the trick in the Visual Studio development web server, but doesn't do anything when the site's running in IIS. I'm assuming this is probably some sort of permissions issue!? I know this is a FAR from ideal thing to be trying to do, but I haven't really got much choice! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Dim starter As ProcessStartInfo Dim Prc As Process ' Pass File Path And Arguments starter = New ProcessStartInfo("c:\program files\...\AcroRd32.exe", "/t ""test.pdf"" ""Printer""") starter.CreateNoWindow = True starter.RedirectStandardOutput = True starter.UseShellExecute = False ' Start Adobe Process Prc = New Process() Prc.StartInfo = starter Prc.Start()

• Unresolved Host Exception Android

- by Rob Stevenson-Leggett
I'm trying to call a RESTful web service from an Android application using the following method: HttpHost target = new HttpHost("http://" + ServiceWrapper.SERVER_HOST,ServiceWrapper.SERVER_PORT); HttpGet get = new HttpGet("/list"); String result=null; HttpEntity entity = null; HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); try { HttpResponse response=client.execute(target, get); entity = response.getEntity(); result = EntityUtils.toString(entity); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (entity!=null) try { entity.consumeContent(); } catch (IOException e) {} } return result; I can browse to address and see the xml results using the Android Emulator browser and from my machine. I have given my app the INTERNET permission. I'm developing with eclipse. I've seen it mentioned that I might need to configure a proxy but since the web service i'm calling is on port 80 this shouldn't matter should it? I can call the method with the browser. Any ideas?
