  • Django complex queries

    I need to craft a filter for an object that checks date ranges. Right now I'm performing a very inefficient loop which checks all the objects. I would like to simplify this to a database call. The logic is you have a start and an end date objects. I need to check if the start OR the end is within the range of an appointment. if (start >= appointment.start && start < appointment.end) || (end > appointment.start && end <= appointment.end) I could do this in SQL, but I'm not as familiar with the Django model structure for more complex queries.

  • Clicking the TableView leads you to the another View

    I am a newbie to iPhone development. I have already created an UITableView. I have wired everything up and included the delegate and datasource. However, instead of adding a detail view accessory by using UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailClosureButton, I would like to click the UITableViewCell and it should lead to another view with more details about the UITableViewCell.   • Using NSUserDefaults to load data depending on which table view cell is pressed

    I want my app to work just like the 'contacts' app on iOS. When a user selects a certain TableViewCell, i want to load certain data. No Matter which cell is pressed, Either "Joseph, Richard, or Shannon", This view comes up: Both of the views look the exact same, but they just display different information. So i guess my question is: How can I programmatically set a key @"cell1" @"cell2", etc... for each cell using NSUserDefaults? But here is the catch, I dont know how many cells will be added, so i cant hard code this, How can I create a key for each table view cell for how ever many is added? Thanks for the help!

  • How to properly reserve identity values for usage in a database?

    We have some code in which we need to maintain our own identity (PK) column in SQL. We have a table in which we bulk insert data, but we add data to related tables before the bulk insert is done, thus we can not use an IDENTITY column and find out the value up front. The current code is selecting the MAX value of the field and incrementing it by 1. Although there is a highly unlikely chance that two instances of our application will be running at the same time, it is still not thread-safe (not to mention that it goes to the database everytime). I am using the ADO.net entity model. How would I go about 'reserving' a range of id's to use, and when that range runs out, grab a new block to use, and guarantee that the same range will not be used.

    Hello, previously i had javascript code right in the top of my view and it would work. Then, i learned that you can include the js file using yield and i did just that. I had rails view code inside my javascript code like : $( "#exp-progressbar" ).progressbar({ value: <%= ((@quest.end_time - Time.now).to_i * 100 ) / (@quest.duration * 60) %> }); Now, after i do it with yield, i get an error when i do that in the separate js file. How can i do it now ?

What I did Create a project (Window-Based) Add 3 child classes (Window-Based too) Add a Tab Bar Controller to MainWindow.xib For each view under Tab Bar Controller, the 'Class', 'Name', 'Title' and 'NIB Name' are all set to connect to the corresponding class Add @class, IBOutlet are done in AppDelegate.h and AppDelegate.m In didFinishLaunchingWithOptions, I called [window addSubView: tabBarController.view]; Save and Run -- Tab Bar with 3 items can be seen But ... the 3 child views ARE NOT LOADED and SHOWN ... :( Anything that I missed ?   • Cell Dequeue problem when table inside another table's cell content view

    I am using two table views (Main Table and Sub Table), one table inside other's cell. I am adding Sub Table in Main Table's cell content view. I am also using different Cell Identifier for both table cells. Now, issue is : When - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath is called, very first time cell of Main Table is generated and when I scroll up/down they all are just dequeued, so it is expected and standard behavior and working fine. But, cell of Sub Table is getting created/allocated every time. It is not dequeued as it should be. I guess, its happening because Sub Table is part of Main Table's Cell Content view. But not sure and don't know how to resolve it. Can somebody help me to find the solution?

  • how to insert page view of a node in another page in drupal

    I have a list of node ids and I want to display the 'page' view of each one. For various reasons, I don't want to do this with views, and don't think I should need a module. Just an API call to theme('node'). Something like: $nids = array(3,4,5); foreach ($nids as $nid) { $node = node_load($nid); $result .= theme('node', $node); } but I'm not getting back the full page view of the node. I added this to my node-[type].tpl.php file: if ($page) print "PAGE MODE "; else print "NOT PAGE "; if ($teaser) print "TEASER MODE "; else print "NOT TEASER "; and got: NOT PAGE NOT TEASER I seem to be in some kind of limbo. I suspect there's an argument that I add to the theme function, but the terms are all so general (theme, teaser, page, node), I'm having trouble with my google-fu.

    I have a before_save method that I call that renames an uploaded image. before_save :randomize_file_name def randomize_file_name extension = File.extname(screen_file_name).downcase key = ActiveSupport::SecureRandom.hex(8) self.screen.instance_write(:file_name, "#{key}#{extension}") end That method is part of my Item model. That works great when I create a new item or need to update the image associated with an item...but the problem is that if I need to update an item but NOT the image, the randomize_file_name method still gets run and renames the file in the database (though not the file itself, obviously). So, I'm thinking I need to figure out a way to only run randomize_file_name if a file is included in the form submission...but I'm not sure how to pull that off.

    I'm building a Rails site that, among other things, allows users to build their own recipe repository. Recipes are entered either manually or via a link to another site (think epicurious, cooks.com, etc). I'm writing scripts that will scrape a recipe from these sites given a link from a user, and so far (legal issues notwithstanding) that part isn't giving me any trouble. However, I'm not sure where to put the code that I'm writing for these scraper scripts. My first thought was to put it in the recipes model, but it seems a bit too involved to go there; would a library or a helper be more appropriate? Also, as I mentioned, I'm building several different scrapers for different food websites. It seems to me that the elegant way to do this would be to define an interface (or abstract base class) that determines a set of methods for constructing a recipe object given a link, but I'm not sure what the best approach would be here, either. How might I build out these OO relationships, and where should the code go?

  • iOS iPad Master Detail template can't interact with detail view

    I have an iPad app generated from the Master-Detail template in XCode. The iPad Storyboard has under the Detail View Controller a View that holds a ScrollView which holds an ImageView. In the DetailViewController.m file I added the following code to allow the ScrollView to move and zoom the image: -(UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return self.comicImage; } This works great on the iPhone (it's a universal app) but not the iPad; I can scroll and zoom the image on the iPhone no problem, but on the iPad it's like the ScrollView isn't responding to the touches, and I can't figure out how to pass the touches on to the ScrollView. I've already deactivated the popover controller from appearing with a right swipe like this: self.splitViewController.presentsWithGesture = NO; How do I make it so the user can interact with the ScrollView in the DetailViewController?

Currently I can read the Gmail db with Gmail.java. There are some problems while I want to open Gmail Activity. In general, we can open Activity with Action and parameters. But Gmail App has not release code base. We do not know what Action set to Gmail Activity and what parmeter shall we put the extras. I only know that the Activity of View detial Message is named "HtmlConversationActivity."   • How to imitate the workflow view of Automator?

    I’m starting to develop my first full-blown Cocoa application containing a view which I would like to behave (and look) similar to Automator’s AMWorkflowView. The basic features I’d like to achieve: Positioning of subviews Display of subviews in expanded / collapsed states Multiple selection Drag and drop In order to get accustomed to Cocoa, I started with a custom NSView which mainly served as a container for the custom subviews and handled their positioning and multiple selection. The subviews are also subclasses of NSView, and contain a variable amount of views themselves, like buttons, labels and popup menus, and therefore can have different heights. This worked quite well, but before going on, I want to make sure to have everything neat and tidy according to the MVC pattern. I suspect that there already is a class in Cocoa that facilitates the implementation of a view container, like maybe NSCollectionView. It seems that there is no (easy) way to display differently sized views in an NSCollectionView, though. Should I continue implementing my custom NSView (probably using an NSArrayController for selection and sorting support), or are there better ways to go? Any help is much appreciated

I created the class, then laid out the small view in IB (it's just a few labels that i will later need to add data to ). but now im stuck on how to actually put an instance of it in my main view.     I want to take input from a textfield and turn it into an array of strings. After having submitted the "post", I want to display again the textfield, but with the array showed below.     I am searching for a tool/framework that follows the naked objects pattern and is written in Java. I know about tools like for instance JMatter, Naked Objects and Domain Object Explorer. That's not exactly what I am searching for, though. Open source would be great, but doesn't need to be. My intention is to use that tool/framework for the purpose of model-driven software development to do the modeling part. Ideally, such a tool/framework would provide the option to use JPA to store/load objects.
