  • ModelBinding to and EntitySet (MVC2 & LinqToSQL)

    - by Myster
    Hi all There seems to be an issue with the default model binder when binding to an EntitySet causes the EntitySet to be empty. The problem is described here and here: Microsoft's response is: ... We have now fixed this and the fix will be included in .NET Framework 4.0. With the new behavior, if the EntitySet passed into Assign is the same object as the one its being assigned to, no action will occur. With a work around being to edit the code generated like so: public override EntitySet<Thing> Things { get { return this._Things; } set { //CORRECTION: _Things= new EntitySet<Thing>(); _Things.Assign(value); //WAS: this._Things.Assign(value); } } As you can imagine this is not ideal as you have to re-add the code every time, does anyone have a better solution?

  • Howto UML: sub methods / calls / operations / procedures

    - by hsmit
    How would you guys model this in UML (in a sequence diagram)? .. car1.drive(); .. ... in Car class: .. drive(){ this.startEngine(); } startEngine(){ this.getKey(); this.insertKey(); } .. a small begin: objx car1 ---- ---- | | | drive() | |-------->| startEngine() | |------------. | | | | |<-----------. | | But where comes the getKey() method? Must this be communicated via another sequence diagram? Or is there a way to include sub procedures?

  • Rails polymorphic associations, two assoc types in one class

    - by snitko
    Consider a class: class Link < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :link_votes, :as => :vote_subject, :class_name => 'Vote' has_many :spam_votes, :as => :vote_subject, :class_name => 'Vote' end The problem is, when I'm adding a new vote with @link.link_votes << Vote.new the vote_subject_type is 'Link', while I wish it could be 'link_votes' or something like that. Is this an AR limitation or is there a way to workaround this thing? I've actually found one related answer, but I'm not quite sure about what it says: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1168047/polymorphic-association-with-multiple-associations-on-the-same-model/1764117#1764117

  • Get the last day of the last month in csh?

    - by ANE
    How do you get the last day of the last month in csh? Here is the code so far. The cal command below works if you execute it from the (FreeBSD sh) command line, but I'm having trouble escaping it properly to run within a script. #!/bin/csh set lastdayoflastmonth=`cal `date '+%m'` `date '+%Y'` | grep . | fmt -1 | tail -1` echo $lastdayoflastmonth

  • Overriding as_json has no effect?

    - by Ola Tuvesson
    I'm trying to override as_json in one of my models, partly to include data from another model, partly to strip out some unnecessary fields. From what I've read this is the preferred approach in Rails 3. To keep it simple, let's say I've got something like: class Country < ActiveRecord::Base def as_json(options={}) super( :only => [:id,:name] ) end end and in my controller simply def show respond_to do |format| format.json { render :json => @country } end end Yet whatever i try, the output always contains the full data, the fields are not filtered by the ":only" clause. Basically, my override doesn't seem to kick in, though if I change it to, say... class Country < ActiveRecord::Base def as_json(options={}) {foo: "bar"} end end ...I do indeed get the expected JSON output. Have I simply got the syntax wrong?

  • Infinispan equivalent to ehcache's copyOnRead and copyOnWrite

    - by waxwing
    Hi, I am planning to implement a cache solution into an existing web app. Nothing complicated: basically a concurrent map that supports overflowing to disk and automatic eviction. Clustering the cache could be requirement in the future, but not now. I like ehcache's copyOnRead and copyOnWrite features, because it means that I don't have to manually clone things before modifying something I take out of the cache. Now I have started to look at Infinispan, but I have not found anything equivalent there. Does it exist? I.e., the following unit tests should pass: @Test public void testCopyOnWrite() { Date date = new Date(0); cache.put(0, date); date.setTime(1000); date = cache.get(0); assertEquals(0, date.getTime()); } @Test public void testCopyOnRead() { Date date = new Date(0); cache.put(0, date); assertNotSame(cache.get(0), cache.get(0)); }

  • How can I simply change the Timezone Offset with Zend_Date?

    - by Nicky Hajal
    I'm using Zend_Date to manage dates/times in a scheduling app. The only way I'm able to determine the user's Timezone is via Javascript which only gives a Timezone Offset. Zend_Date only seems to take Timezones in the 'America/New_York' format. Is there a way to get the users timezone in this format or set the Timezone Offset with Zend_Date? Thanks!

  • How can I update an expression in a Runt::Schedule object?

    - by Reid Beels
    Runt provides a Schedule class for managing collections of events, each represented by a temporal expression. The Schedule class provides an update method, cited in the release notes as "allowing clients to update existing expressions". The implementation of this method, however, simply calls a supplied block, providing the temporal expression for the specified event (as shown). # From lib/runt/schedule.rb:61 # # Call the supplied block/Proc with the currently configured # TemporalExpression associated with the supplied Event. # def update(event,&block) block.call(@elems[event]) end How is one expected to use this method to update an expression?

How are requirements gathered (and stored)? Revision control - what software, what workflow Build automation, what software, where does it fit ? How is the testing done ? How is the documentation done ? How is the quality assurance done ? Please provide short objective answers, don't speak from the books. EXAMPLE: In my company we are a small team of 5 people and we develop webapps using ruby. agile PM cucumber requirements git SCM - Integration Manager Workflow integrity CI rspec automated tests the project lead creats the documentation skeleton then it is filled by the developers ensure quality by peer reviewing code and manual peer-testing

  • How do I do a grouping by year?

    - by kibyegn
    I have a books model with a date type column named publish_date. On my views I'm iterating through the books and I want to group the books by year such that I have a heading for every year and books that were published on that year to be listed below the year heading. So by starting with "2010" all books published on 2010 would be listed, then another heading "2009" with all books published in 2009 listed below it and so forth. <% @all_books.each do |book| %> <%=link_to book.title + ", (PDF, " + get_file_size(book.size) + ")" %> <% end %> By doing a book.publish_date.strftime("%Y") I am able to get the year but I do not know how to group the entries by year. Any help on this would be appreciated.

  • ASP.NET MVC does not add ModelError when invoking from unit test

    - by Tomas Lycken
    I have a model item public class EntryInputModel { ... [Required(ErrorMessage = "Description is required.", AllowEmptyStrings = false)] public virtual string Description { get; set; } } and a controller action public ActionResult Add([Bind(Exclude = "Id")] EntryInputModel newEntry) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { var entry = Mapper.Map<EntryInputModel, Entry>(newEntry); repository.Add(entry); unitOfWork.SaveChanges(); return RedirectToAction("Details", new { id = entry.Id }); } return RedirectToAction("Create"); } When I create an EntryInputModel in a unit test, set the Description property to null and pass it to the action method, I still get ModelState.IsValid == true, even though I have debugged and verified that newEntry.Description == null. Why doesn't this work?
