    This is my first blog post for new year 2011 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the readers for making my blog very successful and accepting me a community member. As year 2010 has lots of up down in IT filed it was recession period and now we almost recovered from it. Personally year 2010 has been very successful to me as I have been awarded as Microsoft Most Valuable Professional for visual C#. And It was one of the greatest achievement of my life. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Microsoft for this and thanks all friends specially Jacob Sebastian who has given me guidance any time I required it. I have been also awarded dzone most valuable blogger this year and it was a nice surprise from dzone. I would like thanks dzone for this. Once again I am wishing you happy new year and may this year will bring success to all of you. One more thing I have found that I have met lots of people who is quite intelligent and exceptional developers and IT professionals but they are not blogging their stuff.   • rake test not copying development postgres db with sequences

    I am trying to develop a rails application on postgresql using a sequence to increment a field instead of a default ruby approach based on validates_uniqueness_of. This has proved challenging for a number of reasons: 1. This is a migration of an existing table, not a new table or column 2. Using parameter :default = "nextval('seq')" didn't work because it tries to set it in parenthesis 3.   • Sensible unit test possible?

    Could a sensible unit test be written for this code which extracts a rar archive by delegating it to a capable tool on the host system if one exists? I can write a test case based on the fact that my machine runs linux and the unrar tool is installed, but if another developer who runs windows would check out the code the test would fail, although there would be nothing wrong with the extractor code. I need to find a way to write a meaningful test which is not binded to the system and unrar tool installed.   • logrotate isn't rotating a particular log file (and i think it should be)

    Hi all. For a particular app, i have log files in two places. One of the places has just one log file that i want to use with logrotate, for the other location i want to use logrotate on all log files in that folder. I've set up an entry called millionaire-staging in /etc/logrotate.d and have been testing it by calling logrotate -f millionaire-staging. Here's my entry: #/etc/logrotate.d/millionaire-staging compress rotate 1000 dateext missingok sharedscripts copytruncate /var/www/apps/test.millionaire/log/staging.log { weekly } /var/www/apps/test.millionaire/shared/log/*log { size 40M } So, for the first folder, i want to rotate weekly (this seems to have worked fine). For the other, i want to rotate only when the log files get bigger than 40 meg.   • Best way to test a Delphi application

    I have a Delphi application that has many dependencies, and it would be difficult to refactor it to use DUnit (it's huge), so I was thinking about using something like AutomatedQA's TestComplete to do the testing from the front-end UI. My main problem is that a bugfix or new feature sometimes breaks old code that was previously tested (manually), and used to work. I have setup the application to use command-line switches to open-up a specific form that could be tested, and I can create a set of values and clicks needed to be done. But I have a few questions before I do anything drastic... (and before purchasing anything) Is it worth it? Would this be a good way to test? The result of the test should in my database (Oracle), is there an easy way in testcomplete to check these values (multiple fields in multiple tables)? I would need to setup a test database to do all the automated testing, would there be an easy way to automate re-setting the test db? Other than drop user cascade, create user,..., impdp. Is there a way in testcomplete to specify command-line parameters for an exe? Does anybody have any similar experiences.

Failed to queue test run 'username@computername 2010-04-15 06:06:03': Object of type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.LoadTesting.LoadTestConstantLoadProfile' cannot be converted to type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.WebStress.WebTestLoadProfile'. Running unit test from remote controller works just fine. Thanks.

  • Microsoft Dev Days &ndash; Johannesburg 2010

    So I am half way through dev days in Johannesburg. It has been quite an interesting day… Maybe it is me, but this year it hasn’t been as OMG as at previous conferences. A few things that stood out though… 1) This is the first time I have had to queue in a line to use the gents toilets before – yes, a true sign that we are at a typically male dominated industry event in this country – the men’s toilets were jam packed – the ladies if there were any there didn’t have a problem. 2) Bart De Smet presentation still rocks – I am a fan of Bart’s and once again his presentation was great. Something that I am going to look into in more depth which I think is a new feature in .Net is called Code Contracts. 3) I have got to get into Silverlight more… I have known this for a long time and have dabbled in it for a while, but Silverlight in my opinion will become the main platform for “hosting” applications. So… 3 things so far, hopefully I get some OMG’s from the rest of the day…

THE FIRST PROBLEM IS: Some P value are more than 0.05 and are still showing up! 2- I designed the program to give me a result of "This is wrong" when the Value of P is "NaN", I am getting results of "NaN" Here's a screenshot from the results do you know what the mistake i made with the command to get these errors?
