  • Why does sharepoint claim not enougth disk space for backup when there is lots availalbe?

    I'm trying to run the following command: Backup-SPFarm -Directory E:\Backups -BackupMethod full -Verbose However it errors saying there isn't enough disk space... the backup will be about 1.8Gb in size, I have 27.52GB free, so why does it think I need 30Gb?   • IIS SSL is taking all IPs although it is told not to

    I have a testing system where IIS Express on Windows 7 SSL website has to live together with Cerberus FTP server SSL website (Cerberus FTP has a built-in web server for HTTP uploads). I have set up Windows to use two IPs from my router 192.168.1.128 (for IIS SSL Web Site, using a self-generated SSL certificate for now) 192.168.1.129 (for Cerberus FTP built-in SSL Web Site) In IIS I have set web site binding to use only the IP 192.168.1.128. But still when I launch Cerberus, it says - cannot bind 192.168.1.129:443. I tested in Firefox - indeed, when I go to 192.168.1.129 (or even localhost), I do not get “Unable to connect“ page as expected, but “The connection was reset” instead. IIS is still occupying those IPs, although it is not serving the website on those IPs. When I stop the IIS website, Cerberus FTP Website launches without problems. But then I cannot launch IIS web site, it tells - "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". Why is IIS SSL web site still occupying all IPs?

  • Setting up VM server access via host MacBook Pro's WiFi hotspot

    I have a virtual machine (VM) hosted on a MacBook Pro (MBP). There is a server installed on the VM. I'm trying to make this server accessible via MBP's WiFi hotspot so I can see it from my iPhone when connected to the hotspot. The VM is Parallels (latest version) and its OS is Win7 and the MBP is 2013 with Mavericks. With default settings and no hotspot enabled I can access the VM's server from the host OSX. The network setting on the VM is "Shared" and it's IP is 10.211.x.x. When I join the hotspot from another laptop the other laptop gets an IP 169.254.x.x and it can't ping 10.211.x.x or access the server on that VM Is there a combination of settings on the VM and MBP's hotspot such that I can access the VM server from a client on the MPB's hotspot?

    The need - This question is relevant for all of those who want to bypass their corporate's annoying VPN, and access their work/corporate network from their private computer, especially if the corporate VPN client software can't run on their private computer. Homework: this question is very similar to this one and this one, which aren't answered :( The challange - Can't run the corporate VPN client from the private computer, so converted the work laptop to a VMWare Virtual Machine. The VPN client is working fine inside the Guest VM, now we want to share it with the Host (the private computer) The specs: * The private computer (Host OS) is Mac OS X Lion 64bit * The corporate laptop (Guest VM) is WinXP 32bit, running in Bridged network mode * The VPN client on the Guest VM is is Checkpoint SecuRemote NGX R60 HFA03 * While the VPN is running in the Guest VM, the Host can still ping the Guest and vice versa

  • How can I mount .IMG floppy disk images which are not 1.44MB or any other floppy format?

    I have several .IMG files, but they are different sizes which do not comform to any floppy disk format, i.e. not 1.44MB, 720K, 2.88MB... these .IMG files are like 420K, 832K, etc. Additional info: Winimage, rar, Magic ISO... none of these worked. The files I want to download are located in www.vetusware.com under DBMSOracle6. They are 2 files in rar format, but when I extract the rar's, I get forty-two .IMG files with varied sizes, not 1.44MB, etc. If anyone could please give it a try and succeed in mounting or reading the extractd IMG files, I would appreciate you letting me know how you achieved it, I really need this legacy Oracle 6/DOS version!..     I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 on my Virtual Machine as a web server. I've mounted the W:/ drive in Win 7 to my /www folder in Ubuntu. I can read the files, but I'm not able to write to the files. In Samba, I have created the following user: <www-data> = "<www-data>" And given guest ok for the www folder: [www] comment = Ubuntu WWW area path = /var/www browsable = yes guest ok = yes read only = no create mask = 0755 ;directory mask = 0775 force user = www-data force group = www-data I've also run sudo chmod -R 755 www to make ensure correct rw access. What am I missing in order to get write access to my ubuntu files from Windows?

If I need to edit some config file, I can do that. Please don't post answers if you haven't ensured they work first. (This is intended to prevent people from answering "Press Shift-Delete.") The server (VM) itself has run out of space, the results of df -h are as follows: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 19G 17G 1.2G 94% / udev 490M 4.0K 490M 1% /dev tmpfs 200M 232K 199M 1% /run none 5.0M 0 5.0M 0% /run/lock none 498M 0 498M 0% /run/shm The original VM HDD size was just under 19GB which is I have now increased to 100GB within the vCenter GUI: Is there a simple way of doing this? The VM doesn't seem to acknowledge the increase at all.

    I am trying to install Windows XP Mode from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx (the Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool has given me the green for proceeding) Even though my Windows has been activated a year or so ago, the download button leads me to a splash screen saying "Windows validation required". I am next forced to download a WindowsActivationUpdate.exe which, after downloading some mysterious "update", fails with the error message "Update installation failed, error information 0x80070002" (rough translation from German). I've tried running it both normally and as Administrator. What could be the problem?

  • Quad Core host with hyper-threading, how many processors to configure in VirtualBox?

    I have a quad-core i7 processor with hyperthreading (8 logical cores), when I configured a virtual machine to use 8 processors, VirtualBox gave me a warning saying that I only have four cores (which is true) and that this may cause a performance issue. But hyper-threading is a hardware feature, so the OS sees 8 cores and it sends instructions to all 8. What if setting it to 4 caused the VM to use 2 cores (4 threads) instead of 4 simultaneous threads (on all 4 cores)? Does the warning I got take into account that my machine has hyper-threading?

  • Exporting a VM running as a Domain Controller

    There is a Microsoft KB article that talks about best practices for running a DC on a VM. One of the notes is "Do not use the Export feature on a virtual machine that is running a domain controller". In order to export a VM, the VM needs to be turned off. If you turn off a DC VM, export it, import it on another server and then power the VM back on, there should be no risk as long as the original (exported) VM is never powered back on. Can someone explain to me why this isn't supported? After doing some searching on Google, the sites I found just regurgitated this line from the KB article, but didn't offer any explanation as to why this isn't supported.

  • Creating a file server - How can I use a large VHD file in Hyper-V? (700GB)

    Hey everyone, After a few discussions (here, here, and here), I am still unable to create a simple VM that will be used as a fileserver hosted on my Hyper-V box. I have created a fixed 700GB SCSI drive (.vhd file), as I have learned an IDE drive of this size is not possible. Not to sound too cynical, but its blown me away at how much trouble its been to create a large amount of space and start using it. What is the best way to create a fileserver with a drive of this size hosted on Hyper-V Server 2008, and how can I get it going??? Inclusion of OS, driver, integration tools etc, anything you feel is required would be greatly appreciated. Extra information I am using the stand-alone version of Hyper-V server, and not Windows Server 2008. I have tried loading the Linux Integration Tools (linked in the comments of the last link above) onto a SUSE 11 VM and the installation fails, the machine cannot see the vhd at all.     I have a PC with Gigabyte H77 motherboard with Intel I5-3550 CPU 8 GB RAM 1600MHz and a 500GB Harddisk (7200RPM) - WD Sata III disk I wish to install esx on it and run some virtual machines on it. not alot, something like 2-3 VMs. My hardisk is Sata, is it possible to install ESX Server on it ? I am not worried about loading issues. When i try loading the installation it writes it cannot detect my disk (since its not SCSI disk). How can i bypass this ? or find a solution. thanks
